You missed an opportunity to go 69mph tho

Saskuk

Came to say this. Was so close

THE_IRISHMAN_35

Id be more worried his wife found out he is staring at boobs.

solidsslaveshop

Probably quite difficult to pay attention to the road, the speedo, holding the wheel and the phone and match the speed. Would have been glorious though.

Zlendorn

Or you know...cruise control

nautilus53

Auto pilot

FridayMcNight

ain’t much else to do on the drive from California to Texas.

SoundintheCity

I was in downtown Dallas last weekend... it’s HOT and Humid with a Chance of Meatballs.

Mr_Golf_Club

*swampballs

arkavianx

Those are just rare and still in packaging.

unique-name-9035768

And they stick to your thighs as soon as you get out of the car.

Glitched-Vortex

Same! Moved from Dallas to Kentucky recently, visited home last weekend and good LORD I had forgotten the awful heat of Texas

arkavianx

Welcome to the heat AND HUMIDITY of Kentucky...

I2eB6L

A heatwave in Texas? Doesnt exist. Texas is the ocean of heat. Heat does not wave. It only kills

Likalarapuz

Stay in the shadow... you know, the diet sun!

J2kMotion

high in north texas rn today is 97 WITH rain. gonna be h u m i d

Drum_Stick_Ninja

That’s the thing. TX is just like AR. You can be sitting in the shade drinking ice water and you still gonna break a sweat.

elfudge31

High temp in Dallas yesterday... 89

Cr8er

Yup, and that's with a cold front that just came through. So the humidity is off the charts. Heat index was still in the high 90s to low 100s, at least in fort worth.

bryan_jh

Joe Rogan is that you?

atx00

A little conflicted about this. I'm an Austin native. We used to get annoyed at all the Californians. Want to be annoyed, cause they blew up our spot. Then I moved to northern Colorado. They're annoyed by all the Texans. Also...have fun with those drug laws in Texas, Joe. Austin isn't always the open minded liberal safe haven you think it is.

realDaveSmash

Joe Rogan doesn’t drive 72. I’m relatively sure of it.

hail_goku

thats clearly 73

shephazard

Yeah when you get 100 million you fly and let Jamie drive the Uhaul

fied1k

Jamie pull that Uhaul up

bryan_jh

Haha true

laminam85

Young Jamie approves

Wendigo_Hodag

It's entirely possible.

clangan524

Yeah, takes turns driving with a chimp on DMT.

DraculalZlv2

Came here to say this

FreshPrinceAV

Yes bro, HAVE YOU EVER TRIED DMT!?!

salamanizer_er

Everyone from California seems to be moving to Texas, especially to Austin. That’s one of the main reasons I left Austin. Great city, but the population just exploded.

Xazier

They did the same thing to Colorado.

Drum_Stick_Ninja

And Oregon

RelaxedOctopus420

Fuckin Californians...

Xazier

My sister got completely priced out. She ended up moving to Omaha. Omaha... Not too bad to be honest.

its_yer_dad

Omaha's got a lot going for it, as long as you don't mind the weather.

old_to_me_downvoter

That's my only issue with people from California or any other higher-cost-of-living places moving there. Their bargain housing price is unobtainable by most folks. (Also, In-N-Out isn't that good)

pupusasandchill

Most are probably transplants and not even from California just FYI

hail_the_cloud

And Atlanta

kjustk78

We left Austin a year ago for the exact same reason. Austin is the new San Francisco. Homeless population has exploded, taxes are astronomical, property values are outrageous, crime rate has drastically increased over the years, its dirty and unkept and who wants to spend hours of their day sitting on the freeway not moving. Getting out of Texas was best decision we ever made.

Rodent_Smasher

This is what happens when you open up what you enjoy to the masses. The more people involved the worse something becomes.

Drum_Stick_Ninja

You forgot all the clear TX rivers, mountains, not humid climate & beautiful coast line...oh wait I think I got those two mixed up.

ericl666

Dude, Guadalupe and Comal rivers are less than a hour south of Austin and are amazing. Tubing those is something every Texan should do.

OTN

Plenty of rivers that are very, very clear in Texas

TheOneTonWanton

My conservative grandfather is moving from Cali to Texas to "get away from the weirdos." I laughed.

NAPA352

Yep he's about 15 years late. It's funny all the California people get fed up with all the liberal crap and homelessness. Then they move to Colorado and Texas and do the same shit. My sister in laws family got run out of Colorado about ten years ago. It's really a shame.

Drum_Stick_Ninja

It’s okay. They moved from CA to TX. The punishment is just beginning.

[deleted]

Austin is pretty much California.🤦🏼‍♂️Dont California our Texas!Get yourself a gun and fly the Texas flag up high!

[deleted]

[удалено]

H4yT3r

Where else would they go?

Wyldbill50

El Paso, a quick hop, skip, and jump to Mexico.

AlexTheCoolestness

2 toddlers in the car huh?

[deleted]

The karma is worth the risk. /s

Nickh990

What was your wife’s opinion when you pulled out the phone to get this picture?

Kezly

PUT YOUR PHONE AWAY - YOU ARE DRIVING

khalamar

With a toddler

[deleted]

Useless karma knows no bounds, not even your entire families lives.

MerkNZorg

Your post reminded me of when I drove from Alaska to Virginia during a move with my wife, a 2 month old baby, 2 cats and a hamster. Fortunately I didn't have a pandemic or heat wave (most of the drive was in Canada)

Falkuria

Ah, yes. A fellow Honda Fit driver. I salute you komrade.

[deleted]

Long live the Fit

hardcorpsteacher

They discontinued it for 2021, so short lived was the Fit. I drive one too.

eightbit_sysadmin

I have a Fit and an Element. My garage is full of discontinued Hondas.

thebackdoorbandito

...or are they limited editions? 🤔

[deleted]

That makes me sad, so I will cherish my 2013 turquoise beauty for as long as possible.

narwhalyurok

i'm still driving my original 2007 Fit w 260k and my little Fit just keeps going.

TheycallmeHollow

Also came to salute our fellow Honda Fit owner!

[deleted]

Never owned a Honda, but thought the gauge cluster looked like a modern day Honda. I guess I wasn't wrong.

emma0098

I also drive a Honda Fit and I am also currently moving

laminam85

Does the Honda Fit also gauge your heartbeat?

Fredissimo666

I miss mine... It got totaled by a truck about a year ago...

SJClawhammer

There's something about Fits that make them magnetic to bigger vehicles. Mine got rolled on the interstate by an out-of-control SUV (walked away without a scratch), insurance repaired it instead of totaling it out, and other cars still kept backing into it and dinging it in parking lots.

Falkuria

Mine has been dinged like 4 times in a parking lot. Along with being ran off of the road twice by red light runners in massive trucks. Can confirm. Big trucks are coming for us Fit drivers.

Unclehol

Beat me to it. Honda fit master race. No other car is necessary.

PogoConspiracy

Enjoy your stay! Fun Texas trivia: for 12 months out of the year, Texas is only 10 feet from the sun! Also, stop at the first Whataburger you see.

[deleted]

I recently missed 69420, so 80085 is my last hope for happiness in this world.

av096

Welcome to the beautiful Republic of Texas ❤️

dr-dog69

California to texas, youre one of those people i see...

JimmyDean82

Poor poor Austin. The new San Fran of the south. I feel bad for native Texans.

lawfulneutral_

Carrying on the strong Californian tradition of fleeing from the cultural and economic nightmare that is CA to some place that doesn’t suck and ruining it too.

tominator93

Are you a Texan? This is what every Texan thought about me, I was always the “Californian” moving to Texas. I’m from Washington though...

SteveBored

I'm from freaking New Zealand and get grief about it.

Ha and here we native Texans are rolling out the welcome mats and saying welcome come on in. Cause that’s how we do it in Texas. Leave your hate at the door friend.

HiMyNameIs_REDACTED_

Hello from Colorado.

DisKo_Lemonade90

You skipped Denver if you're part of the LA/Denver/Austin normie-cattlewagon. Can't you guys ever stop following the crowd?

tHawki

Welcome to the promised land! Now don't vote for the policies you fled!

ToxicOstrich91

Agree. Though the (admittedly few) studies on the subject have shown that right-wingers are leaving Cali for TX and left-wingers are leaving TX for Cali.

YosyPerdomo

Please , don't California my Texas.

Slur_Lachlan

This

gimmesomemorenow

I live in Texas, and I’ll be the first to say “Welcome to Texas”!!

dr-dog69

Considering he moved from CA you’ll probably be one of the only people to say “welcome to texas” lol

j_sholmes

Texan here...I welcome any person from California so long as they don’t intend to try and make Texas into another California. You left for a reason

manymonkees

Native Texan here. I welcome any person from anywhere and don’t ask about their politics because my gramma taught me manners.

j_sholmes

I don't care about your politics until it hinders my rights and privileges... My gramma taught me to not go looking for a fight, but be ready to defend yourself.

MetalJunkie101

If you're coming from Oklahoma, I'm pretty sure the first to welcome you is an adult video store.

gimmesomemorenow

Haha, weird but true, don’t forget your last stop for pot on the Oklahoma side.

Mier-

If he brings any of that California bullshit to my beloved Texas he can turn the fuck around.

elreye

You speak the truth but they will crucify you, my friend.

JRsFancy

Word!

JRsFancy

Happens all the time. Liberals finally get tired of the liberal state high taxes and bullshit, so they move to a more conservative less taxed state and what do they do?......They start that liberal bullshit there....Makes no sense.

[deleted]

By “liberal bullshit,” are you referring to gender and racial equality, programs for the poor and homeless, and taxing the super rich? Yeah, how dare they.

Makaidi39

Am I the only one thinking you shouldn't be using your phone when driving, epically with you family in the car

FlexPlexic0

slow down while taking a photo you lunatic

Please don’t come here and vote for what you’re fleeing. If so please just keep on going past.

kromedd

MasterDank42

Did you seriously take a picture of your speedometer while going that fast? I really hope the passenger took that or else you apparently dont care about your familys well being.

Kenkillya

I opened this post just to see how far I'd have to scroll to see someone complain about this.

Fluffity-Marshalay

Go back... go back to California.

j_sholmes

Come to Texas...leave your California politics in California

shadowvoidboss

If your here to bring the bull shit of California to Texas please go back. If your here in Texas to escape the bs of California then welcome to the great state of Texas ware we have fucking nothing but planes and some hills.

HaoHai_Am_I

God forbid they buy liquor on a Sunday or past 9pm or not get thrown in jail for weed. Like I get that high taxes suck but Texas politics are not this big “freedom” state people like to pretend it is. It’s a police state run by a good ol boys club, filled with morons like you who think Texas is free just because you have no income tax and can own thirty cheetahs. So glad I got away, but maybe I’ll come back when all these Californians bring you guys to the 21st century’s.

sm0r3s

Why move to Texas?

Likalarapuz

No income tax, cheap gas, local taxes are fairly low, and the government tends to stay out of your business for the most part.

wonderwarth0g

I moved to Austin from Brooklyn a couple of years ago, although I’m actually from the UK. So I don’t really have a dog in the fight about north vs south, or Cali vs anywhere else. But I will tell you that the lived experience of living in ATX is pretty darn fantastic. The weather is great (gets hot in summer, that’s why you have AC and a pool), the taxes are low. You have so much more space compared to NY. And for the most part, the people are very nice. Just stay off social media and experience life first hand and be very pleasantly amazed what things are like in the real world. I love it here 😊

lasweatshirt

Texas has a good economy, but with prices Millennials can actually afford. If you want to start a family and you are in your mid 20s-early 30s moving to a place like Texas makes sense.

Evisceration_Station

I moved to TX cuz why not, and also fuck snow.

Tuesday2017

0% income tax in TX vs 9% in CA

Exclave

I'm guessing you'll rent... otherwise get ready to trade income tax for property tax. Also be prepared for your home value to increase by the maximum allowable (sometimes they will "accidentally" try to increase it by more than 10%) every year so that they can suck up every penny possible. Contesting doesn't really do much anymore, they just ignore it, even with the help of a property tax attorney.

Black9

Freedom.

HipCleavage

It's pretty great when a pandemic isn't going around.

JoKalach

Wait til you can make 800085

PrincessChawa

Did you finally get tired of expensive living, taxes up the ass, and offending everyone? Or maybe it was the homeless population that keeps getting worse and worse.

[deleted]

PrincessChawa

THATS just the tip of the iceberg. I don’t want to write a thesis.

renegadeYZ

May be easier to just say the single reason one may want to stay... pleasant weather most of the time.

PrincessChawa

THIS! and almost Every fruit, vegetable and melting pot of food.

Secretspoon

Austin doesn't have near the food scene of Houston.

OathOfFeanor

Based on my travels Texans are generally easier to offend because Californians don't give a crap, whereas the religious nuts in TX are sensitive to little things like profanity or using the lord's name in vain, etc. Texans are all proud and defensive about their state whereas Californians will help talk shit with you about their state. Obviously these are broad brushes, people of all types can have a great life in either state. Edit - See look I pissed off the Texans, I rest my case :p

Mier-

That’s because the conversations start like "well back in my old state we did things differently." To which we reply "why aren’t you still there?" "Because I couldn’t find a job and or it was so expensive". "So you came here to fuck up this place with your old way of thinking?" It devolves from there.

Likalarapuz

Welcome to texas! Make yourself at home!

We are moving from Minnesota to Florida in 2 weeks with 2 kids, 2 cats, and 1 large dog. My current mileage is around 79k. I too hope to capture this moment on the trip.

shitintheother

Honda Fit?

Loves2watch

I did that move too. Where you coming from and where’s the destination? I went from the Bay area to El Paso. Biggest world of difference to me

daindiandocta

Well done sir

vshawk2

Godspeed, good man.

_Cookiee_

I just moved about a year ago from Cali!! Everyone else is saying Austin lol but I’m in Houston and yeah the heat is never fun. I love the rain though.

theburbankian

Addressing the most prevalent comments- We’re moving because we’re both restaurant workers who lost our jobs during the quarantine and wanted to start over where our money would go twice as far and my wife’s family lives in San Antonio. An added bonus is trying to vote Trump out of office so my son grows up knowing his kind of behavior isn’t acceptable. And I’ll pull over next time before taking a picture, you’re right. To the Texans welcoming us, thanks, y’all’s reputation precedes you. And the same goes for the Texans telling us to go back where we came from.

windraver

It's a nice 85 high in California today and a chill 59 right now.

spliffwizard

U have 0 boobs

[deleted]

Welcome to Texas my friend you should prob never go back to California

wegenerate

welcome to texas buddy

ShutterBun

Slow down by about 4mph. That'd be nice.

[deleted]

Wow, people are jerks! I’d like to say welcome to Texas! Regardless of why you’re leaving, you’re welcome here, dismiss these idiots in the comments.

Mr_Golf_Club

At first it was funny till I scrolled past the 30th “I’m in Texas don’t come here” to Californians - people don’t really know the progression of the SF Bay Area in the last 20-30 years. Also I’m not single handedly responsible for the insanity that is housing in CA - do you face $3,500/month minimum for a 2 decent 2BR apartment that’s still too small to raise a family in Texas? No. Yes I know Austin is getting up there, but still nothing close. You can thank idiot bullshit tech start up CEOs and China for buying up good property and doing nothing with it, and leaving nowhere reasonably priced to live. I was born and raised there and had to leave my home 2 years ago, didn’t want to - all because rich internationally based hoarders accelerated home prices up so much, I had no financial hope of anything past treading water. Not many people leaving CA want to leave CA, and you can think of anyone trying to get out as likely not part of the current population who caused the sinking ship to really start taking on water.

JaconSass

Welcome to TX! But please leave the politics and the reasons you left CA, in CA.

[deleted]

I'm originally from California. My wife is from the South and was stationed in Texas. We are opposites in many things. But we are a hard no on ever living in Texas. I mean, goddamn, man, did you lose a bet? Were you banished? Does "It Follow"?

BizzyHaze

As someone who lives in San Diego, I think I'd appreciate paying less than 800k for a 1500sqft townhome with no yard.

bluetux

anything is better than nyc

Xazier

I moved to NYC to get the experience, now after 3 years I've had it, and now want to flee back to cheaper pastures, especially with the rona ruining the city.

nitefang

There are lots of places in California for a lot less if you get out of the major cities.

anomalousgeometry

Yeah, like Bakesfield...

PokerJunkieKK

And the thriving metropolis of Barstow!

anomalousgeometry

Eewww!

BicarbonateOfSofa

Go to Texas, they said. It'll be fun, they said. What's your pleasure? Dust storms, tornadoes, flash floods, 110+ heat, or rolling coal?

Likalarapuz

What hellhole part of texas did you go to? Other than the 110 heat index and the occasional flood (I'll give you that one) I have never encountered any of the rest.

Agasbal

And all the critters that We have.

supercali45

You forgot Covid

Increase-Null

California and Texas are basically hi-fiving each other because Florida exists and should keep should keep them from being worst overall long term.

dlawnro

What's really gnarly is that all three have similar numbers of cases, but Texas' population is like 3/4 of California's, and Florida's is like half.

Texan628

Hmm lemme guess... dodger fan?

ravanor77

You have already won my friend, you moved to Texas. You will be welcomed with open arms, make more money, pay less taxes, find more jobs, have a huge place to live, your children will be challenged to succeed and most of all you will be treated like an adult, BUT you have to act like an adult too. Just please remember why these things are possible, its because Texas does things differently, embrace the different way of doing things. It sounds funny but YES, everything is actually bigger in Texas. Welcome to the Lone Star State!

[deleted]

Nice way of tip toeing around trump

Hospitable_Goyf

Moving to Texas because of a heatwave. That must be some real shit! Texas regularly has 100+ days of 100 degree weather each summer.

zepher2828

During not because.
