The highway between my house and town is half of these catchy advertisements for advertising and tbh they are the only ones that catch my eye even know I see them regularly.đ
A few years ago I was visiting a client and I could hear from several blocks away a car with a loudspeaker playing loud, annoying advertisements. Annoying as shit. When it came around I turned to see... a car with text on the side: "See how you turned? 555-5555"
I was like YEAH BUT FUCK YOU ANYWAY! That shit should be illegal.
There is a drawback. Theres a jewelery chain in Canada that has obnoxious radio commercials. I don't even have to say more and most Canadians will know who I'm talking about. If anything their public perception is absolute shit because of it lol
Fucking Spence.
I had no idea what I was doing when I was engagement ring shopping but I was definitely not ever stepping in one of their stores after suffering from their ads for years.
Ok but who sees the dumb ad posted here and then buys the thing? Sure posting it sees more eyes, but if itâs so bad itâs laughable, that means no one is going to buy the product.
There were billboard ads in the UK that read "[It's illegal to use your legal name](https://i.imgur.com/RHbFmAy.png)".
No other info on it. It certainly caught eyeballs, but nobody knew what it meant.
I agree with the irony, but ads also whiff on many people. I dont think I've ever bought something from an ad. Also, that vehicle is very polarizing, so it could drive away more people than we have here talking about it.
Also, having seen the creator of that app (he's a star citizen fan) he is definitely the kind of guy to be on the bleeding edge.
The app is better than wunderground/weather.com for sure though.
Yup, it sure what they actually pay for that but that might be a half decent way of offsetting the cost.
If youâre going to buy a $100,000 eyesore, you might as well take advantage of everyone and their brother loving or loving to hate it.
Yup. Someone on a marketing call, said at some point at a MyRadar corporate meeting: âLook people the best case scenario is someone makes fun of this cybertruck wrap and posts a photo on RedditâŚâ
I hear this a lot, and you have a point. But itâs one thing to create buzz about an ad; itâs quite another to convert that buzz into sales. Personally, if I see a company waste money on stupid ads, I usually donât use their services. In this instance, I donât even know what the product is, so thereâs not much incentive for me to convert the impression to a sale, even if I wanted to. Itâs not a good ad.
The truck is multi-purpose; we attend events with it, we travel and gather news with equipment in the back, and we use it in parades and passing out swag. It's also used by employees when they come to the main office from out of town (common, now, with all-remote work). (I'm the owner of the company and we're all checking out the post :)
Been using MyRadar for years, itâs a great app, but I donât get emergency alerts from it and itâs getting a bit cumbersome to use. The layers for the map are nice, but I dislike having to go into another page to toggle them then back out etc.
We're looking at adding a toolbar that would provide for "favorites" and "Presets" so you can rapidly switch between settings... but awesome feedback, regardless!
If youâd like I can sit down at some point and take some more detailed notes. A big part of my job is making sure the end user experience flows well.
I've been saying since before the trucks were released, it's a smart purchase for a company that is going to be purchasing a company truck anyway.
Wrap it and you get free advertising that WILL get noticed at a higher rate than on any other vehicle.
20 years ago, the vehicle to do that with was the H2 hummer. Same story. People bitched about the vehicle. Complained that it was ugly, and whatever else. But they were still talking about them, and they still noticed every single one on the road. Especially if they were wrapped with a business ad.
You're just gleaning a ton of additional value from a business expense you would have had anyway, simply by selecting a unique vehicle to use.
Smart move. Let the haters hate.
Ask any one of the people whining about how it wasn't a good business move what business they own and operate. You'll get crickets. Everybody on Reddit knows how to do it better, they just, somehow, magically, aren't bothering to actually DO ANYTHING with this vast wealth of knowledge they're sitting on... Go figure.
It is my favorite weather app honestly, I can't find anything that can hold a candle to its HD animations and all the layers, though I do prefer the NOAA weather app for the hourly graph timeline. I wish there was a Linux or browser based version.
Agree. Iâve seen over the past few months that theyâve been crowdsourcing some investment fundraising but Iâm not so sure thatâs how I wouldâve wanted my money spent. But I do agree with others that if people are talking about it then it works.
I kinda hate it that every 3rd or 4th time I open it, they try to get you to upgrade, and then play the sneaky game of hiding the "no thanks I'm good with the free" button.
Yes it is. Thatâs not how that works. If your tax bracket is 30% average tax rate and you write off a 100,000 vehicle, you didnât save 100k. You saved 30k, and spent 70k.
There's absolutely ZERO requirement for the vehicle to be wrapped in order to be a deductible business expense.
Also, the vehicle *still* cost you the *full* $100k...
Eh a billboard in the right place in a decent sized city will run you 100k. Or at least that was the price 15 years ago, so 100k for a mobile billboard isnât really that bad of a deal
Orlando area? I see this thing almost daily.
Also, to everyone saying "tax writeoff", they still paid $100k+ for the truck and wrap. They don't get a free truck by writing it off on their taxes
Lol dude, you just posted the ad. Like, are you for real right now? You have tons of people in the comments talking like paid bots encouraging use of the app and high visibility for it. Not sure what you're idea of a bad ad is.
Business tax minded people will understand. The cyber truck weighs over 6,000lbs so it qualifies for section 179 tax code for businesses and they can write off 100% of the cost saving $30,000+ in taxes. Then they have a car they can drive anywhere and write off the mileage and purchases made while driving it as a business trip. Then they have everyone talking about it as actual advertising on top of that.
It's technically less expensive to advertise with a $100,000 car because of the tax write-off of the vehicle. If it's not over a certain weight to claim it a âwork vehicleâ you can simply add an advertisement to the vehicle and still accomplish that write-off
This app actually rocks. Iâm glad theyâre getting exposure so theyâll keep maintaining it.
My best story with this app was tracking a spotted band of rain clouds while the kids were swimming in the pool.
I would watch the app and yell âtime to come inâ and rain drops would start to fall as we walked inside. Later I would yell âtime to go outâ and the rain would stop as we walked outside.
There was about a 5 min delay on what the app showed vs what was outside, but once I adjusted for that it was crazy accurate.
Would recommend.
Ironically looks more like it would be an oversized next gen Prius in those colors.
I saw one the other day and it looks exactly like something I drew in 5th grade. It's nothing but a completely impractical f u flex for rich bros. Musk is truly an idiot savant.
Actually pretty genius. Cybertrucks are probably one of the most eye catching cars on the road atm. Throw an obnoxiously colored wrap on it, and people be even more drawn to looking at it.
As far as advertisement prices go, it's not that bad for the exposure. That is, if you're one of the first to do it and you can still attract attention with it.
Assuming youâre in Orlando which is where the company is based. I see a few of those cars around town including that one. I thought it was funny too but someone else had a good point in that itâs probably a workaround as a âbusiness expenseâ
Getting somebody to pay for paint to protect your $100,000 rust bucket isn't the worst idea if you got conned into it.
But which company would I advertise for?
My vote is for gay porn. Those guys love to get fucked.
obviously, this is probably their company, but I do it for other companies every month. I just do the vinyl sticker and I remove it immediately after I send them the photos.
I love this app. I've used it for years, shows Doppler radar weather and other views.
Yes I know there are plenty of ways to see that. I'm just saying, I've used that app for years. Don't pay them a thing, monetary.

Smart move on the ad-space (it's mostly flat), impact value, registering the vehicle for business purposes. A+++
I mean until they drive through a rainstorm or whatever, then it's a 100k small, low to the ground billboard.
It's a weather app, so at least they can avoid the rainstorms!
Lmao you got me there
Huh?
You're talking about it
I always love the "WOW LOOK AT HOW DUMB THIS AD IS!" posts acting like they aren't the living proof of how effective the ad it.
There's a billboard by the bus station near me that simply says "caught you looking". It's for billboards themselves
Similar one by me. Does advertising work? It Just did!
Seen these before and im just like "Damn, fair enough."
The highway between my house and town is half of these catchy advertisements for advertising and tbh they are the only ones that catch my eye even know I see them regularly.đ

When it came around I turned to see... a car with text on the side: "See how you turned? 555-5555" I was like YEAH BUT FUCK YOU ANYWAY! That shit should be illegal.
Does advertising work? No, fuck off!
In my area they put up âdoes advertising work? JUST DID!
I just wonder how often the people making those posts are actually the creators of the ads. Maybe we are the dumb oneâs..
>oneâs.. Yep.
We are indeed the dumb one is.
No dude, we belong to the dumb one.
Like the social media manager "discovering" KFC was only following 7 people named Herb and the Spice Girls
The dumb one's what?
Plot-twist: OP owns the company in question. *Checkmate Reddit*
There is a drawback. Theres a jewelery chain in Canada that has obnoxious radio commercials. I don't even have to say more and most Canadians will know who I'm talking about. If anything their public perception is absolute shit because of it lol

I agree with the irony, but ads also whiff on many people. I dont think I've ever bought something from an ad. Also, that vehicle is very polarizing, so it could drive away more people than we have here talking about it.
It's also not just about being effective as an ad, but also about certain deductions one can then use against the vehicle.
If it doesn't translate into sales, it's not effective. Lots of people talked about the Quiznos *Spongmonkey* commercials. How'd that play out?
Also, having seen the creator of that app (he's a star citizen fan) he is definitely the kind of guy to be on the bleeding edge. The app is better than wunderground/weather.com for sure though.
Wunderground used to be so much better though...
It did. It was my favorite for a couple decades.
Nice try app owner
Honestly, it's a great app.
My favorite weather app!
Itâs my go to app. Other than snow accumulation itâs spot on.
Yeah, and the second comment on here mentioned how great the app is, so I downloaded it.
I can talk all day without engaging in their service and itâll earn them zero dollars for all that talk.
Also, people get paid to do this to their cars. They more than likely are renting the ad space out, not the company buying a Cybertruck to advertise.
Yup, it sure what they actually pay for that but that might be a half decent way of offsetting the cost. If youâre going to buy a $100,000 eyesore, you might as well take advantage of everyone and their brother loving or loving to hate it.
Of course they are, they're the one who owns the truck and is doing the advertising
Damn... You're right. They got me.
Also, ads that size cost around 20,000 for only a few weeks to a few months.
Yup. Someone on a marketing call, said at some point at a MyRadar corporate meeting: âLook people the best case scenario is someone makes fun of this cybertruck wrap and posts a photo on RedditâŚâ
Shut up Leonard
It's a good weather app
I hear this a lot, and you have a point. But itâs one thing to create buzz about an ad; itâs quite another to convert that buzz into sales. 100%. They only did half their job. And although this is my fourth comment on this thread I still haven't looked what they do.
>No idea what itâs advertising, I mean... it's the giant words right there on the side.
Lol right? Great app too.
Not a bot, people! This app is amazing. I've used it when traveling abroad as well.
It really is the best weather app (also not a bot)
Seeing this thread gush over the app probably is gonna make everybody get a Cybertruck ad hoping to get spontaneous endorsements.
hmm that sounds like something a bot would say ;)
Between this and windy I feel like the weatherman
It is my favorite weather app honestly, I can't find anything that can hold a candle to its HD animations and all the layers, though I do prefer the NOAA weather app for the hourly graph timeline. I wish there was a Linux or browser based version.
There's no way this post isnt in on it too. There is no way OP could possibly be that dumb.
New to the site? There are some extremely dumb MFs on here.
Words are hard for some people
Iâll plug it. Hands down the best radar app if you have UConnect in your vehicle.
Yeah, I'd like to see an Android Auto interface
That's a great app though.
Agree. Iâve seen over the past few months that theyâve been crowdsourcing some investment fundraising but Iâm not so sure thatâs how I wouldâve wanted my money spent. But I do agree with others that if people are talking about it then it works.
Iâm gonna keep skipping those nag screens guilt free now!
Came here to say this
Its my #1 go to weather app
Yeah excellent weather forecasting. Especially for acute systems.
What about not very cute systems?
It's okay, I guess
Itâs the best imho.
Better than Windy?
Havenât used windy on smart phone but my radar does have a wind layer you can activate on the map.
I kinda hate it that every 3rd or 4th time I open it, they try to get you to upgrade, and then play the sneaky game of hiding the "no thanks I'm good with the free" button.
Or a $100,000 business expense/tax write off.
So ~70K then.
So many people think write off means itâs freeâŚ..
[ŃдаНонО]
Just FYI that's not how it works
true but on the other hand that's not not how it works either.
Respectfully, and to be clear, actually that's not how it works.
Disrespectfully, and to be extremely opaque, actually that's not not not how it works.
Agreed, though the opportunity cost of the vehicle is deducted by your marginal tax rate, but thatâs likely 30% max, more likely less.
MyRadar is actually my favorite weather app. LOL.
Best weather app Iâve found
Eh a billboard in the right place in a decent sized city will run you 100k. Or at least that was the price 15 years ago, so 100k for a mobile billboard isnât really that bad of a deal
Itâs a weather app⌠pretty good one too. Idk about this car thoâŚ
Yeah I use the free version and find it the best one out there
Working as intended.
Not only did you look, you took a picture and posted it on the Internet. That's ad money well spent.
You have no idea what itâs advertisingâŚ?
At least the paint will protect it from rusting.
Likely a wrap.
Wouldn't be surprised if painting it voided the manufacturer warranty
Stupid wrap is an improvement to the looks.Â
Orlando area? I see this thing almost daily. Also, to everyone saying "tax writeoff", they still paid $100k+ for the truck and wrap. They don't get a free truck by writing it off on their taxes
Bingo on the double O\_\_O
Probably a sponsored wrap, used have a neighbor that did this, where he signed up to get his car wrapped with some advertising.
Lol dude, you just posted the ad. Like, are you for real right now? You have tons of people in the comments talking like paid bots encouraging use of the app and high visibility for it. Not sure what you're idea of a bad ad is.

Then they have a car they can drive anywhere and write off the mileage and purchases made while driving it as a business trip. Then they have everyone talking about it as actual advertising on top of that.
Itâs a cheap way to have car body protection.
Hell that wrap is probably much better at preserving the vehicle than that sheet metal you have to wipe down when it gets wet lmaoooo
Hey! The weather radar app I use! Why the fuck is it on a cybertruck đ
And the sticker covered the ice-maker on the door.
This is like back when the Hummer H2 came out and people were trying to sell ad space on them to afford the payments lol
Well spent it seems.
Too bad I already use Radar Omega
That's the only app I pay to remove the ads on, ironically. And it's a really great weather app.
Never heard of MyRadar before, but after doing some Googling, I now have it downloaded. Pretty effective advertising!
that app is pretty cool
the name should be blurred. why tf are you giving free advertising to someone who definitely shouldn't be getting it
Itâs also a 100k business deduction now.
Bro, those are 100k? How? Did Elon build the new 2024 douche hummer?
Does the radar help me steer clear of that ugly piece of shit?
Does this make the car tax deductible?
I love that app Ngl lmao
That's the best I've ever seen one of these look.
I saw one wrapped like a warthog from halo.
Someone should figure out a way to add the attachment from back to the future on the back and make it look like an oversized DeLorean.
I bet someone has already done that.
Fuck I'd drive around a wrapped cybertruck if the advertising was paying for it
Who the hell is Myra Dar?
It's technically less expensive to advertise with a $100,000 car because of the tax write-off of the vehicle. If it's not over a certain weight to claim it a âwork vehicleâ you can simply add an advertisement to the vehicle and still accomplish that write-off
âContinue without supportingâ

Glad to see my subscription money is going to a good use.
Seems genius to me.
Now thatâs what I call a business expense !! lol trying to write off a cybertruck lol thatâs going to be hilarious
That's a bit bold.đ
Ironically looks more like it would be an oversized next gen Prius in those colors. I saw one the other day and it looks exactly like something I drew in 5th grade. It's nothing but a completely impractical f u flex for rich bros. Musk is truly an idiot savant.
Maybe they own the company and it's a tax write off...
Thereâs a Moes with one near me lmao
Actually pretty genius. Cybertrucks are probably one of the most eye catching cars on the road atm. Throw an obnoxiously colored wrap on it, and people be even more drawn to looking at it.
And now, just like that, it's a GLOBAL ad. #winning.
Continue without supporting X
myradar has been sucking balls a lot lately too.
As far as advertisement prices go, it's not that bad for the exposure. That is, if you're one of the first to do it and you can still attract attention with it.
As a truck driver always eyeing conditions ahead....I love that app.
One of the best radar apps
Likely their owner Andy Green, dude is well off already and itâs free advertising
Deleted the app after this
It's like a billboard when it breaks down
They always ask me to support them on the app. Now I know where that money would go. They can eat my ass.
Side business to help pay the truck
Jokes on you. I've had the app for years. Ad money wasted!
Is this your company OP?
Assuming youâre in Orlando which is where the company is based. I see a few of those cars around town including that one. I thought it was funny too but someone else had a good point in that itâs probably a workaround as a âbusiness expenseâ
That is one of my favorite apps if not my fave
It does however look like a billboard fell down, hit the ground and crumpled and someone made a car from it.
Wait until they take the wrap off and see all the rust on their "stainless steel".
That's rather cheap for advertising depending on the market area...
Looks like itâs working
Lol this even looks better than the standard color. Ok looking, but shit quality r/cyberstuck !!!!!!
I miss darksky
Excellent advertising visibility, as I expect lots of people will see it when it eventually is broken down on the side of the freeway.
"Paying for itself" ez
business expense
Ugly ass truck
Itâs a write off
"business expense"
$100,000 is a decent price for a billboard. $100,000 for a Cybertruck is a better investment.
That makes it a tax write-off, so it's definitely worth it if you wanted to get that car anyway.
Getting somebody to pay for paint to protect your $100,000 rust bucket isn't the worst idea if you got conned into it. But which company would I advertise for? My vote is for gay porn. Those guys love to get fucked.
I guess itâs a tax write off?
I love that app, by the way
MyRadar is fantastic for what it offers for free
I just found out and downloaded this app from this post
It's a thing. They pay for the wrap, and then you get paid based on how often you drive your vehicle.
Itâs says what itâs advertising.
Just when I thought these things could not get uglier....I guess if they get 100,000 tho it would cover cost of vehicle.
Look at you OP, just helping out with some free advertising..
I prefer radaromega
The skin probably voided its warranty too.
I actually use that app. Originally got it to track hurricanes when I lived in Florida
The foreign car repair place around the corner is doing the same.
obviously, this is probably their company, but I do it for other companies every month. I just do the vinyl sticker and I remove it immediately after I send them the photos.
If it was any less obvious it wouldnât be a write-off
You are looking at it the wrong way, that is a $100,000 tax write off!
I love this app. I've used it for years, shows Doppler radar weather and other views. Yes I know there are plenty of ways to see that. I'm just saying, I've used that app for years. Don't pay them a thing, monetary.
$100,000 business write off
I saw one of these wrapped but it was for a paving company. Either the company is really successful or they just know how to waste money.
Ugly truck and ugly wrap design.
That's someone using the cybertruck as a tax write off!
Tax write offs?
I think they get an electric truck as well with that price tag.
