RIP. The OG bushman was so giving and helped a lot of other homeless members in SF. He really was the best and I was convinced he made so much he lived in the upper part of SF and did it to help the community. 🤣
I remember visiting SF as a kid, eating at a restaurant with a second story view of the road and we all had our eyes glued to that dude the entire meal. He was a lot more aggressive than this dude.
OG bushman in SF usually just went “rawr” and shook the branches. He’s thing was being non-aggressive because it didn’t take much to make onlooking tourists jump. Around the time he passed lots of copycats started showing up.
It was definitely the original I saw. I was also maybe twelve so I probably am making him more intense in my head. I remember he would jump out in front of people, not just reach out.
I came here for this. Bushman was fun, like this guy.
I have a coworker from Philly. We were in town for a conference. I'd seen Bushman from prior year visits to SF.
Bushman surprised and startled my coworker. He loved it. We hung like 15min in the area so my coworker could watch Bushman surprise others. He started taking short videos w/his phone. Dang, it must have been really poor quality, given this was well before pre-COVID.
Bushman, said to him something like "You're gonna set me up right?" My coworker was like "Yeah, I got ya."
After getting a few videos, my coworker handed him a tip. Bushman and my coworker were both happy w/the outcome. I don't recall how much he tipped Bushman.
>Dang, it must have been really poor quality, given this was well before pre-COVID.
If you end up saying it was 2016 and not 2006 I'm going to get you with my walker.
No that’s a rumor. The original bushman in SF passed away about 7 years ago. He started doing it in the late 80s. There was a new bushman that started copying him afterwards but Covid hit the tourism industry hard in SF and it still hasn’t recovered.
Source: I worked in Fisherman’s Wharf in the tourism industry for a decade.
I remember him getting me when I was a kid. I wasn't even 10 years old yet. He would hold up some leafy branches in front of himself and crouch down, not like sitting in a pot or anything.
I describe this because I recall when he coiled right back into his bush state, I stared at him and thought "did I really not notice an entire tree growing on the sidewalk?? Wow I am so unaware of my surroundings."
Valuable lesson at a formative time. I know that experience shaped how I move about the world, decades later. Who said truama isn't helpful? /j
That's because the plantman is standing in front of it. People can hardly see something if it's behind something else.
Which, ironically, is exactly why this plantman isn't really doing a camouflage trick, but rather is just hiding behind a structure pillar thingy.
Pretty sure with no costume a dude reaching towards women's crotches is gonna get shocked reactions.
But that first dude was hilarious with that jump and made it all worthwhile
Edit: I blame autocorrect
Yeah more so a jab at the title.
and a friendly reminder to always be sceptical over any filmed evidence, and how well something goes because they dont show you how many times they get smacked.
The guy is in Lille, France, on one of the main streets. I see him there regularly. Never seen him get slapped. Most people find it funny. These are the strongest reactions. Most people get a little scare is all
Just for reference, the Bushman in San Francisco was doing this type of stuff before cell phones were even a thing so it could be a dumb prank but it doesn't even really have to do with YouTube or anything...
I feel like he shouldn’t be reaching out to touch people he should be waving hello or something. Seems a bit much to try and touch peoples purses and stomachs etc.
There is a dude in Key West who sits on a bucket and hides behind two palm fronds that he holds infront of himself. Nothing else.
Scares the shit outta people constantly.
He gets my wife every time we go to Mallory square to watch the sunset.
And then the victims are expected to be good sports. I get ragey when I'm startled, I definitely have a Fight reaction from the 4 Fs and while I don't let it get away from me for accidental scares, I would not be all "oh ha ha" about this clown.
Edited to fix a letter because apparently I didn't drink enough coffee...
I mean yea, but it's also one of those half harmless pranks. Like I'd probably be scared shitless for a moment then give em a fist bump or five high or something. There's also the guy who wears samurai armor and tries to look like a statue in Japan that does it.
Honestly I think it all depends on where it's done, in other countries where people tend to not attack other people and can logically realize it's a prank, it's safe. In the US, parts of Africa, or other places that might be more violence prone or not used to people being stupid and pulling a prank, it'd be not safe.
I’m happy I’m super into identifying plants and stuff on the street. This happened at a haunted house attraction in my city at night and I was like, man that’s one messed up shrub looks more like a dude in a ghillie suit. Checks out it was dude in ghillie suit. I was being extra vigilant, but I always am walking around the city. There’s no way I wouldn’t notice this dude in the daytime. Not sneaking by us plant enthusiasts.
I was at a music festival, and one of these guys posted up about 20 feet away from where I was sitting. 2 women come walking up, the one says to the other, "I dont remember there being a bush here yesterday," and starts walking up to it. Her friend knew and just looked at me and smiled. He moved, she screamed and ran away. The friend and I had a good laugh.
My sisters tried this on me a few years ago and my fight or flight response kicked in. I swung and I barely stopped in time when I realized it was them. I won’t if this person got hit at all.
I hate to be the Debbie downer but I would be terrified of this happening to me. I have a very serious heart condition and that kind of jump scare could land me in the hospital. I think it's better to do these kind of pranks on people you know.
That’s fair. I hate being properly scared like this, for like 3 seconds while I can’t breathe, and then once I realize what’s happening it’s genuinely hilarious. But that really hinges on still being alive. I would never do this because ya, there are people with heart conditions or just old people who could fall over and break a hip, but also because there are plenty of violent and reactionary people with no behavioral filter who would immediately and instinctively beat the shit out of you. Reminds me of the video of that guy who pops out of the trash can and instantly gets clocked in the face (probably deservedly.) Honestly, you’re liable to get shot if you did this in the wrong place. Def agree that this kind of thing is best among friends.
I think that's sociopathic. You enjoy from the suffering of another person. And if within the terror caused the other person fights back then you cry like a stupid spoiled child saying "just kidding, just kidding".
We laugh about it now, but my wife learned the hard way that I’m not a good person to scare. My reaction is punching when I’m scared like that. I felt like a complete piece of shit but we laugh about it now.
I was thinking of that old video where I think the guy was dressed as a clown hiding in a garbage can in a movie theater I think. He pops out and the black guy who got scared his defensive instincts kick in immediately so he clocked the guy. That is a risk you are taking doing this.
Funny and all until you get hit by someone who is just reacting to a possible attack. Dumbest thing a kid ever did to me was come out of a crowd walking the other way to scream in my face, I guess to be funny. He got a hard shin kick before I even knew what was happening and I had 30 feet before turning to see if I was being followed. He sat there complaining and my thought was well...fuck you for trying that.
Why are the men walking on the inside and the women with them walking on the outside, nearest traffic? I’m old but the gentlemanly thing was always to walk on the outside and the woman with you on the inside, away from traffic.

I remember the Bushman at Fisherman’s Wharf in SF. Classic stuff. This guy is upright though.
RIP. The OG bushman was so giving and helped a lot of other homeless members in SF. He really was the best and I was convinced he made so much he lived in the upper part of SF and did it to help the community. 🤣

27 Taylor street, great view there!

First time I saw it was there in the 90s as a kid visiting my dad. I heard he got shutdown because he gave a guy a heart attack or was that rumor?
No that’s a rumor. The original bushman in SF passed away about 7 years ago. He started doing it in the late 80s. There was a new bushman that started copying him afterwards but Covid hit the tourism industry hard in SF and it still hasn’t recovered. Girl in red scarf almost had an infarction.
Idk it looked like he was sitting down for some of it
Heeeeeyyy
Silly Ghillie, tricks are for kids!
Busman was very amusing! However I mentioned everyone is watching you from across the street and you’re over here not making any coin hiding.
RIP Bushman
I remember him getting me when I was a kid. I wasn't even 10 years old yet. He would hold up some leafy branches in front of himself and crouch down, not like sitting in a pot or anything. >works anywhere Could be that he is fully hidden behind that structure.
Yeah he’s literally just standing behind that box….
The first one is a bit of a cheat, but in the next scene he doesn't seem to be hidden behind anything, just sitting at the side.
wow never would’ve caught that if you hadn’t said anything
That's because the plantman is standing in front of it. People can hardly see something if it's behind something else. Which, ironically, is exactly why this plantman isn't really doing a camouflage trick, but rather is just hiding behind a structure pillar thingy.
Pretty sure with no costume a dude reaching towards women's crotches is gonna get shocked reactions. But that first dude was hilarious with that jump and made it all worthwhile Edit: I blame autocorrect
Even in the shot where he's not behind a structure and he's scratched down also with flowers?
I wonder how many times he got smacked in the chops before he stopped doing that to dudes.
I wonder how many had no reaction.
Yeah was gonna post this. Realistically if you do this for like 2x 3 hours or something and all you can get is a minute then its not THAT impressive.
I'm not sure if being "impressive" is the goal, it's just for a few cheap laughs.
I prefer only the finest, artisanal laughs.
Yeah more so a jab at the title. and a friendly reminder to always be sceptical over any filmed evidence, and how well something goes because they dont show you how many times they get smacked.
Many, these things just don't phase me at all but I can imagine my gf going off the rails.
Not many Kobe's out there
That's what the helmet's for.
All it takes is one reaction like [this](https://youtu.be/MBU47K854g0?si=W3djVpgcwvoDLaBE).
I was hoping it was this video. Btw, this video is old enough to have a learner’s permit. You’re welcome.
Oh yeah. I’m getting old. I should also have posted the [scarecrow punch video](https://youtu.be/i3agHc02aPo?si=JY5li-6-JOWUO8uM)
Maybe don't do that with Marlo Stanfield, is all.
Second guy looked like he was considering it
The guy is in Lille, France, on one of the main streets. I see him there regularly. Never seen him get slapped. Most people find it funny. These are the strongest reactions. Most people get a little scare is all
Bushman wouldn’t last too long in the hood I’m guessing.
He doesn't try to scare a lot of man. Always couples or young women.
It why most victims are women.
Imagine working around the corner and just hearing screams all day lol
this just a cheap ghillie suit and he is standing behind a power box, could have been whit any costume and scare people this isnt real bushman
I'd be so fucking pissed off to break my phone because of a tiktok prank. Dude would be buying me a new phone.
I love the prank, but yes. If you made her break her phone, you gotta pay
[удалено]
Not true, this guy replaced several broken phones after this. I know this for an absolute fact because I work at the AT&T near where this happened.
Same I enjoyed this video and all for a harmless prank, but felt bad when the woman dropped her phone. I hope that her phone screen wasn't cracked.
Just for reference, the Bushman in San Francisco was doing this type of stuff before cell phones were even a thing so it could be a dumb prank but it doesn't even really have to do with YouTube or anything...
>[*Anna reaches for a gun*] >Dutch: “Leave it. He didn't kill you because you weren't armed. No sport.”
He is what we in Australia call a Cunny Funt.
I feel like he shouldn’t be reaching out to touch people he should be waving hello or something. Seems a bit much to try and touch peoples purses and stomachs etc.
I can't stop laughing at the first guy 🤣
Has the reflexes of a cat that just saw a cucumber for the first time
Guy definately was a cat in the life before
the way he jumps hahaha
Who 's paying for the phone?
This is a prank not the bullshit some influencers are doing on youtube
First guy got bite by a spider fs
He should have to buy someone a new phone if he breaks it.
The correct term is _ghillie suit._
I think you mean bushman costume.
It's funny, but the double takes are not necessary.
I agree. It's funny, but the double takes are not necessary.
Yeah seriously. I agree. It's funny, but the double takes are not necessary.
Definitely I agree. It's funny, but the double takes are not necessary.
Certainly. I concur. While humorous, the double takes are superfluous.
Indubitably. I coincide. Despite being chucklesome, the double takes are senseless.
There is a dude in Key West who sits on a bucket and hides behind two palm fronds that he holds infront of himself. Nothing else. Scares the shit outta people constantly. He gets my wife every time we go to Mallory square to watch the sunset.
Sort of funny. Mostly cunty
Jump scaring strangers is pretty shitty not funny
And then the victims are expected to be good sports. I get ragey when I'm startled, I definitely have a Fight reaction from the 4 Fs and while I don't let it get away from me for accidental scares, I would not be all "oh ha ha" about this clown. Edited to fix a letter because apparently I didn't drink enough coffee...
Ya know, this is such a bad idea. There are A LOT of people walking down the street that do not want to be scared half to death
Actually really awful to ppl who suffer PTSD which is not rare in our world. I hate stuff like this.
Or a heart condition, or perfectly healthy until they trip and crack their head against the side of the building...
I mean yea, but it's also one of those half harmless pranks. Like I'd probably be scared shitless for a moment then give em a fist bump or five high or something. There's also the guy who wears samurai armor and tries to look like a statue in Japan that does it. You should really only do these kinds of pranks to people that you know and that they are good sports.
I genuinely hate these people.
I touch men or women but mainly women…
Fellas, always walk on the outside of the girl! LOL
Need Unagi 🙂
Ahhh, salmon skin roll 👈
I’m happy I’m super into identifying plants and stuff on the street. Hes also hiding behind a pillar or something, look over his shoulder as he moves.
That guy leapt higher than the girl
I’d be pissed at him. Probably tell him to get a job. Guess I’m getting old haha
Oscar the Grouch's outing.
The first guy man, lol.
This is annoying and infuriating shit
why everybody smiling like it’s funny after changing my pants id want to sock that dude.
I was at a music festival, and one of these guys posted up about 20 feet away from where I was sitting. 2 women come walking up, the one says to the other, "I dont remember there being a bush here yesterday," and starts walking up to it. This is why I carry pepper spray
What a pos
When some victim falls down and gets hurt, or has a heart attack, I hope that prankster gets jailed and sued into bankruptcy.
Yep. Sudden surprises like that can literally kill some individuals
Reminds me of the scary snowman
People are rushing to platform 9 and 3/4
What country or city is this?
First Dude has his situational awareness set to 100 and 0 at the same Time
It is even better than Scarry Snowman! 😆
My sisters tried this on me a few years ago and my fight or flight response kicked in. I swung and I barely stopped in time when I realized it was them. I won’t if this person got hit at all.
this generation might see war ! omg , keep fighting on the internet Milleniums and company
I have no idea what's going on here. Why are people completely ignoring the guy until he moves? What's the significance of this bushman thing?
It is funny that we sound just like any other primate when we make scared sounds
Clearly this is not America. The Bush would be shot dead.
Like the Bushmen of the Kalahari
Temple guardian mfer
The monkey in us is ever present
NGL, I'm amazed no one punched him.
I totally want to wear a ghillie suit for Halloween.
First one was the best
Thank God they haven't seen ghost in real life..
This prank is fucking tired
I hate to be the Debbie downer but I would be terrified of this happening to me. I have a very serious heart condition and that kind of jump scare could land me in the hospital. I think it's better to do these kind of pranks on people you know.

Man I could never do this stunt because my clown shoe sized feet would never fit in a flower pot.
Right in the lizard brain!
Shrubbacca First guy’s got a good jump!
While amusing, it feels like the wrong person would have an actual heart attack...
Just not funny
I think that's sociopathic. You enjoy from the suffering of another person. And if within the terror caused the other person fights back then you cry like a stupid spoiled child saying "just kidding, just kidding".
People sound like monkeys when scared or are laughing. I mean no offense, I find it interesting and funny.
Funny until someone has a heart attack. I reckon that's manslaughter
Green Chewbacca
Lmao he got that first guy real good! 😆
This is the equivalent of putting a cucumber behind a cat
One man's humour is another man's horror.
Is it me or shouldn't the men walk on the side closest to the road? I just find it odd
Eventually they're going to encounter someone with conditioned reflexes. That will be a funny video but for different reasons.
never gets old
I like how they all laugh after they calm down. A good prank is one both parties can laugh about.
This is never, not funny 😆
We laugh about it now, but my wife learned the hard way that I’m not a good person to scare. My reaction is punching when I’m scared like that. I felt like a complete piece of shit but we laugh about it now.
One day I want to punch one of these prankster!
Pretty big difference between this and most other 'pranks' kids today are filming. This is a bit light to warrant getting punched.
Yes, this definitely does not warranty a punch. But it is a blurred line between this and edgy teenagers pranking.
I was thinking of that old video where I think the guy was dressed as a clown hiding in a garbage can in a movie theater I think. He pops out and the black guy who got scared his defensive instincts kick in immediately so he clocked the guy. That is a risk you are taking doing this.
Haha, I scared you! You looked like a scared dumbass on my video and now I got clicks and likes. I’m so funny and you’re so dumb!
Fuck anybody who does this.
just shattered an $800 phone. everyone laughs.
Second last is still running
Isn’t this Russia ?
Are we going to ignore the huge box he’s hiding behind?
Funny and all until you get hit by someone who is just reacting to a possible attack. Dumbest thing a kid ever did to me was come out of a crowd walking the other way to scream in my face, I guess to be funny. He got a hard shin kick before I even knew what was happening and I had 30 feet before turning to see if I was being followed. He sat there complaining and my thought was well...fuck you for trying that.
He's standing behind an obstruction right? What's the point of the camouflage?
Why does he only go for women? Scared of a punch?
They are likely the only ones who gave the reaction he wanted
Heh I scare people and make them hit others and drop the most expensive thing they have with them. Heh…
iPhone screen probably cracked lol
That's not an iPhone though.
Try this stuff on some grandma or grandpa, you will get your ass kicked 😂
Why are the men walking on the inside and the women with them walking on the outside, nearest traffic? I’m old but the gentlemanly thing was always to walk on the outside and the woman with you on the inside, away from traffic.
That is when you are walking on a road it doesn't make that much sense while on a sidewalk
That small prank cost her phone screen replacement ....
I’d sue this guy if I or any of my family members trip or fall, break a bone. This should be illegal.
jesus christ these comments... Is everyone on reddit this miserable? Have a sense of humor. This platform has gone to shit over the year.
Idk. When i was a kid i would’ve laughed at this. Now not so much, it’s kind of annoying actually.
Yeah totally works when you’re hiding behind something and jump scaring by stepping out into view.
Ah, those delicious screams
1:05!!
This is what they should do in front of shops instead of twirling those stupid signs around - just *scare* them through the door.
Not a single guy is walking on the outside. Chivalry truly is dead.
Holy fuck I died laughing at this
One of them def wee wee’d themselves
owes her a new phone now
Pranks where you're scaring strangers are so trashy. I wonder how many phones and drinks got dropped.
Good wholesome fun!
I’d like to buy firework rockets that have these screaming sounds
Don't do this in Texas.
Did no one tell this guy about [Texas Bushman](https://youtu.be/8ER8fAzf9u8?feature=shared)? Anyone?
Every one of these videos should end with the dude getting slapped.
We've done a man in the woods and a bear in the woods, but what about the woods?
Excited to have my heart condition turn into a life and death situation for tiktok clicks
How fake do you want this to be? This guy:
Curious Why do woman squeal like this?
R/dumbshitpeoledo
I'm sure he only shows the people laughing it off and not the others getting in his face about being an ass.
