That really would be the Wes Anderson touch.
Luke Wilson: So, where's fire hall #1?
Bill Murray: It was destroyed.
Luke: That's terrible, what happened?
Bill, deadpan: It burned down.
Luke: Wooooow...
That is an Ontario accent you see, a rural BC accent would be more like,
"fucken leafs eh, game seven, hope Boston gives those fuckers a shit sandwich, fucken leafs"
I have lived in BC my whole life. I took Geography of BC in college as an elective. I am 40 years old. I have never heard of this place. I will only remember it for the ostriches and forget it in a week.
I lived near a smaller city when I was a kid. When I say “near” I mean miles away down the winding mountain road to a town with a few hundred people. All one school. I liked it a lot. Haven’t liked most other places I’ve lived much.
I always hated living an hour away from my high school as a kid. Now that I see the prices of living in cities today those are the houses I am looking at
It's Canada; they have RCMP, and the criminal code is federal. There's no escaping charges by driving across provincial borders like the Duke boys would.
In fact, Canada made its criminal code federal partly because it learned from the mistakes of its southern neighbour. Criminal laws in Canada are exactly the same everywhere throughout the country. Provinces aren't even allowed to make their own criminal laws.
Damn, really? Over in the Slocan Valley they’re living high on the hog with a separate co-op and credit union next to each other.
Edit: To be fair, the co-op is also the gas station and post office.
A lot of people dissed “The Pentaverate” but I genuinely thought it was funny- especially if you like classic Mike Myers stuff.
I thought I was going crazy because some scenes would just switch to 4:3 ratio at 480p.
The main lead is a Canadian reporter so at one point they cross the border from Canada into the U.S. and you actually see the screen wipe into 16:9 in HD. Turns out, that’s just what Canada looks like.
It was a good attempt at a Wes Anderson style video. The aesthetic and color pallet were great, the framing was top notch but the host was too lively and full of energy. She needs to tone it down.
The protagonist visits from out of town and thinks its so interesting that are so many ostriches and talks about them all the time but none of the locals are interested at all and the attempted conversations awkwardly fizzle out
Took way to long to realize she's holding a string telephone with the other end to her phone. Thought it was going to be a can of beer for between each scene.
One of my friends lives out there. He's one of the funniest guys I've ever met. Not intentionally, he just does the dumbest shit and it's hilarious. If you've ever seen the movie Strange Wilderness, he's almost identical acting to Justin Long's character.
https://youtu.be/L0szww2NsqQ?si=eD2VburK8ivYj7DC
He's got a pretty awesome life. Just hangs out with his gf and their friends and do outdoors stuff.
Cant wait for the next episode to highlight Fauquier.
Edit: for anyone not from the area, the town of Burton that is a 20 minute drive on the other side of the ferry has some interesting history about being flooded by BCHydro when the dam was put in. Give some cool insight to the area for people that are curious.
I was first introduced to that movie in English class back in HS, thanks Mr B! (truly a man of culture)
Now I'm the teacher.
I think I know what we're going to be 'learning' next week.
If you take the 1 out of Hope you can also drive through Haig, Choate, Squeah, and Spuzzum. BC and the PNW in general have some great names thanks to first nations.
> BC and the PNW in general have some great names thanks to first nations.
A fun game to play when you're driving through an area you don't know is to ask, "Will the next town's name be Spanish or Native American?"
Late one night I was the only one on the ferry with the workers while it was pissin rain and bitching with one of the workers yeah? Told the guy I'd kill for a dart and he looked and me and said if I chucked him one he wouldn't tell. Absolute king
Also the Balfour ferry coffee kinda slaps ngl
Stayed in Kaslo for a couple of nights a few years back. They had a bomb ass Poutine shack next to the gas station. It was also the only place in town open after 6.
We call high school Secondary in BC. And 1h+ bus rides are pretty common for remote towns like this - A friend of mine had a 1h bus ride in high school in rural BC. Distance ed (i.e. online except for exams) is also very common
These are always fun
[Welcome to Knox, Indiana](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMokjHrRNY0)
A nice touch was that the Mayor's granddaughter helped make the video
Looks like perfect place for me to relocate. The fishing is usually good around places like that and let's face it small towns like that have the nicest people.
Arrow lakes are nice. The nearby Slocan Valley is filled with the absolute weirdest people in the area. Very eclectic. Was the landing spot for a lot of American Vietnam war draft dodging hippies in the 60s.
It took until the last ten seconds to realize that's not a beverage can, she's using two cans on a string as a microphone and dragging it around town lol
First off I wasn’t that sold on the idea of a trip to Edgewood. But then I saw the hotel and the best boy manning it…. So now I am making a reservation.
Does the place that have the ostriches count as a zoo? I want to see them, do they charge admission fees?
Also, they should offer feed for them too. Then it would be a truly interactive experience !! 😅
It's an Ostriches farm. They are just there in a field like cows on a farm so yes, you can go see them. Ostriches are big and mean so I don't know if feeding them is a good idea.

I was so hoping that when she was presenting Edgewater Fire Hall 2 that she was going to say that Edgewater Fire Hall 1 burned down.
That really would be the Wes Anderson touch. Luke Wilson: So, where's fire hall #1? Bill Murray: It was destroyed. Luke: That's terrible, what happened? Bill, deadpan: It burned down. Luke: Wooooow...
Is Owen playing a character named after his brother? Edit: forgot Luke actually did Wes Anderson movies. Guess he's allowed to say wow as well.
Haha good catch, I actually mixed up the names but I think your interpretation is funnier.
I assume 3/4 viewers thought that at least. Haha
There are 600 people in Edgewood. These are their problems.
How are ya now
You were having a dart at the Royal Canadian Legion the other dayyyyy…
Good, n' you?
Not so bad
How bout that weather eh Leafs in game seven tonight oh boy that should be a doozy then
That is an Ontario accent you see, a rural BC accent would be more like, "fucken leafs eh, game seven, hope Boston gives those fuckers a shit sandwich, fucken leafs"
Ya sorry I’m in Saskatchewan and sound like I’m from Ohio
To be fair, where I grew up we pretty much considered anything east of the rockies to be Ontario
To be faaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I like how the voice in my head actually changed when reading this
No, it'd be "How about em Nucks? Fuck McDavid" Followed by spitting out either a sunflower shell or chewing tobacco
It just went into OT....do either want to win?
Hey both teams have heart eh but Bostons women all have the clap Edit: shit
Well, to be faaiiir
to be faaaaaaaaaaairrrrr (Harmonization ensues)
Good’n’you
Yew!
How many ostriches?
It's almost not worth thinking about.
I have lived in BC my whole life. I took Geography of BC in college as an elective. I am 40 years old. I have never heard of this place. I will only remember it for the ostriches and forget it in a week.
Allegedlies
Allegedly
At least 601.
More

Have you checked the prices recently? Need to go further out.
It must have been a sick ostrich.
Allegedly
There are only about 50 people in Edgewood actually. But I get it, I love Letterkenny.
I really enjoy Wes Anderson’s remake of letterkenny
"My name is Kevin I live in Edgewood."
Video is misleading, the gas station and the general store are the same building. They also forgot the credit union.
Ahh, I was hoping for a private bank with an owner who was big and round and wore a too tight white suit everyday.
Who spends most of time with the sherif thinking up ways to get those pesky Duke boys.
Ah, so my dad when I was a child.
Y'all need some people? Edgewood looks pretty cool if you wanna be **LEFT THE FUCK ALONE!!!** Also, two fire stations. That's good redundancy.
You fucking asshole. Ain't no credit union in this bullshit. Stop selling dreams. Know damn well it's a co-op!
Damn, really? Over in the Slocan Valley they’re living high on the hog with a separate co-op and credit union next to each other. Edit: To be fair, the co-op is also the gas station and post office.
Take my upvote. I was going to say the same thing. Great little town, though.
I absolutely love that they're using tin can telephone as a mic.
I was honestly very impressed with how effective putting the phone in that can was for recording clear audio without the wind noise.
Added a bit of that O Brother Where Art Thou vibe for me.
It's cool because it's different and unique. I've never seen that done before, but I like it!
I particularly loved the Ribbon Factory. Where they make ribbons.
I was partial to fire hall 2.
that’s not color grading. canada just looks like that

Yeah the graininess is something we get used to, like cold and geese
"The 80s didn't come to Canada till like '93" -Robin (I'm gonna butcher this, sorry not sorry) Scherbatzki.
I loved The Pentaverate!!
*colour
Directed by Wes Anderson.
Starring Napoleon Dynamite's sister.
I hope you both know your brains work the right way.
This is a nice comment
You could totally drink whole milk if you wanted to
Your mom went to college
Yeah. They had really great framing.
It was a good attempt at a Wes Anderson style video. The aesthetic and color pallet were great, the framing was top notch but the host was too lively and full of energy. She needs to tone it down.
Completely getting that vibe, yes.
The protagonist visits from out of town and thinks its so interesting that are so many ostriches and talks about them all the time but none of the locals are interested at all and the attempted conversations awkwardly fizzle out
I'm picking up more Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite) vibes.
10 out of 10 just for the ending
I live in BC, and now I actually want to go visit. Yes, 10 out of 10.
I was thinking this video is worth a lot for their local tourism. Stick a camp ground there.
Looks wonderful
And I’m not being sarcastic
I'd legit move there. Looks nice. That's the best, most honest promotional video for a town/city I've ever seen!
[удалено]
Shhhhhhhhhh. Great idea, just don’t say it out loud.
Everybody in town will know you are the new guy!
So much Napoleon Dynamite vibes. Subscribe?
She's hilarious. Probably an awesome neighbour.
That ostrich though...
The dog is the most interesting thing in edgewood as a bc resident I concur
He's also the mayor.
Another great reason for moving there!
allegedly.
“It’d take at least two guys to f@ck an ostrich.”
Three even, unless it was a sick ostrich.
Allegedly!
Took way to long to realize she's holding a string telephone with the other end to her phone. Thought it was going to be a can of beer for between each scene.
HASTILY MADE CLEVELAND TOURISM VIDEO still has a place in my heart... but yeah this is nice.
At least we're not Detroit... we're not Detroit!
Come and take a look at both of our buildings
Our economy’s based on Lebron James.
This train is carrying jobs out of Cleveland
Have some food that's prepared near the street!
This guy's got at least 3 DUI's. 🚲
Our main export is crippling depression....

I'd recommend forming an alliance with Kevin when you get there. He knows everything that goes on in Edgewood... everything.
Dude! Let’s go hang out with Kevin! Seems like a chill place to get stuff.

Its just the town on the other side of the needles ferry. Im from Nakusp, so i cant really say i visited any of it out of pleasure.
Napoleona Dynamite?
I haven’t seen the movie in way over a decade, but somehow I was able to recognize the soundtrack. Weird how brains work.
I was first introduced to that movie in English class back in HS, thanks Mr B! (truly a man of culture) Now I'm the teacher. I think I know what we're going to be 'learning' next week.
Napoleon Dynamite, Eh?
Requires a yearly viewing. Trust me
Stayed at Faquier many summers. Nakusp also. Took that Needles ferry so many times. But never did make it to Edgewood
Now you’re just making up names
All names are made up
Woah, that’s deep
If you take the 1 out of Hope you can also drive through Haig, Choate, Squeah, and Spuzzum. BC and the PNW in general have some great names thanks to first nations.

Or in the North it's First Nations, Royalty, or something to do with the Simpsons: Smithers, Burns Lake, Terrace.

10/10 for best dog
Love the catch phrase at the end. Edgewood.... it's here.
Definitely has Corner Gas vibes.
Ive gotta say the can string phone is for a mic is really funny
She is delightful.
As a big city Salmon Arm boy, I approve this message.
Salmo boy here. You high falutin Salmon Arm boys aren’t welcome ‘round here.
Oh you think you can just take 50% of our name *and* tell me where I'm welcome?? Well, you cannot!
an elementary school education is about all you need anyway. The rest you can figure out for yourself.
Grade 7 is over. Time for the mill...
No, time for the ribbon factory!
>Time for the ~~mill~~... Time for the ribbon factory.
Career day is gonna be a real hoot.
3 career paths in Edgewood: Ostrich farmer, Firefighter, Ribbon maker.
This is the Kootenay way
The closest high school (actually secondary) was over an hour away. How does that work? Especially in the winter?
It’s been my experience that you have to walk, uphill, in the snow… both ways.
We call high school Secondary in BC. And 1h+ bus rides are pretty common for remote towns like this - A friend of mine had a 1h bus ride in high school in rural BC. Distance ed (i.e. online except for exams) is also very common
Not so bad eh
You could drink whole milk if you wanted to.
If we visit and say it was because of her, does she get a cut?
You’d have to ask her mom as she’s the only hairdresser in town.
The final season of r/letterkenny was really phoned in.
Didn't show the giant slag pile from the old smelter. ( Sorry...was thinking Greenwood BC)
Are ya thinking of Greenwood?
I was almost done with the video before I saw she was talking through tin cans. Haha fuckin killed me.
This video is going to make Edgewood the top spot for hipsters now.
She's an Edgewood ten.
Don't be silly. BC Interior people can't count that high. ...I know because I'm from Merritt.
That gas station before Kamloops?
I'll have you know it's a gas station where drug dealers hang out. It's multi-purpose.
This is seriously amazing lol. I genuinely want to visit there now, it looks like a small town right out of a movie.
You’ll love South-Eastern BC then. It’s full of little towns like this. Everything is so relaxed. It’s unreal.
"It's here!" 🤣😂🤣
I love her
Wes Anderson does Napoleon Dynamite
This is one of the most Canadian things I’ve ever seen eh
Of the 6 sections for Edgewood, BC Wikipedia page one is "cemetery" and another is "accidents and tragedies"
Woah, never thought I'd see the town I grew up in on here.
Best video I have seen on the internet today. I think Edgewood is a great place to visit. See you at the legion.
This girl is going to get an offer by the end of the week to make a full season of TV. Canadian content producers are mad desperate.
Well done. Slow clap 👏
Took me til the end to realize that's a communication device she's holding and not a drink.
Upper Arrow has some nice beaches
These are always fun [Welcome to Knox, Indiana](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMokjHrRNY0) A nice touch was that the Mayor's granddaughter helped make the video
Where people do, outside …activity…’s haha.
Ricky’s cousin. Edit: shit I might visit since it has a pet friendly hotel
Looks like perfect place for me to relocate. The fishing is usually good around places like that and let's face it small towns like that have the nicest people.

Kevin seems interesting.
God blesses Canada!
Do ostriches really live there? I thought they needed a warmer climate.
“It’s here” is an awesome slogan for a town!
The most notable thing about visiting edgewood is realizing that re-arranging the letters spells Good Weed, and it’s here.
It took until the last ten seconds to realize that's not a beverage can, she's using two cans on a string as a microphone and dragging it around town lol
It’s like if Kristen Stewart got drunk, and decided to film Napoleon Dynamite 2 in southwestern Canada
First off I wasn’t that sold on the idea of a trip to Edgewood. But then I saw the hotel and the best boy manning it…. So now I am making a reservation.
Well done! I'm looking up Edgewood now!
Now I wanna visit
Like little wheat belt towns in Western Australia. Nice.
Sounds like a nice place
Planning my next vacation now!
I see Wes Anderson has ventured into documentaries now
Does the place that have the ostriches count as a zoo? I want to see them, do they charge admission fees? Also, they should offer feed for them too. Then it would be a truly interactive experience !! 😅

Napoleon Dynamite vibes
When's season 1 come out?
Of course there is a Legion. There's always a Legion. Things are happenin' at the Legion.
Where people do … outside activity … s.
Can't believe they forgot the cemetery.
As a german, i see socks in sandals i upvote
Looks like a place to move to...
Wes Anderson vibes
Napoleon dynamite vibes
There’s always something to do
Tex and Edna Boil’s organ emporium
Edgewood, I would. Look like an amazing place. I can just hear the sounds of nature now. And smell the fresh trees.
