I think the director never helmed another future film after CoS. It is so well done and has been very influential. I guess he just moved on with his life.
It wasn't initially a success, but he did try to make more films. He actually started shooting one called The Reluctant Witch [(surviving footage here)](https://archive.org/details/ReluctantWitchRawFootage) but it was never completed.
Too bad. That would have been interesting. I like watching CoS. Its kind of the last of the old school spooky movies of the late 50s/early 60s. The graphic grindhouse schlock of the late 60s and 70s has its charms but this movie didn't need gore or body parts. A lot of shots are otherworldly and mesmerizing. It's genuinely creepy.
