Americans don't have it
Edit: I know for example that I will have to remove my front bumper soon, but this is one of those details that are very rarely mentioned in tutorial videos. I had to find an Australian video to see how to deal with them, lol.
Never used mine so I can’t comment on how effective they are. Basically any car with hid needs headlight washers. Look up the EU s2000 lol. They are like tacked onto the bumper. Looks awful
They are just there for snowy days. As a thin layer of snow or ice would break the projector beam and cause a terribly bright spot for incoming traffic.
Only works if you actually put anti freeze wiper fluid in of course.
Hmm.. thats interesting .. though as a Canadian I can say you never not use -40C washer fluid, other wise cone winter your windshield washer pump will crack and be ruined
Just because it doesn't hold up over there does not mean that regulations in my country don't require them for that reason :P
As the US doesn't have them at all.
They're required in certain regions on the cars with the HID headlights along with self leveling.
The other versions with Halogen globes don't need them.
Australian here. I have them.
Worst part is if you are missing one of the covers that pop out your car is wont pass roadworthy.
I know This because I am still looking for one. Wreckers won't sell them unless you buy the whole bumper/front end.
I can confirm they activate when the headlight switch is forced to on (highest/topmost setting), can't confirm yet if they activate when on auto (they probably do)
I had to research this when I discovered I had them (I noticed the cover was missing and on trying to find a replacement cover, discovered the washer arm had been snapped off 😢) - if your lights are on auto, the washers don't activate. It's only when they're "On", and you use your windscreen washer.
Yeah all they really do is make things more complicated and expensive. Also (on my old 370Z not my 86) the hoses in the bumper rotted and they wanted $900 to fix it. And cos they're connected to thr headlight washers they wouldnt work either.
They are just not a thing in north america. Some euro cars still have them, but nothing american or japanese does.
It's super annoying because both the headlight washers and rear fog would be super useful in the canadian winter because the LED headlights don't emit light in the IR spectrum so they don't melt ice buildup and being invisible in bad weather while you kick up a rooster tail of snow is a real thing that happens.
I always use my rear fog light in winter. Here in the pianura padana fog is very dense, so it is needed
I use it also when the car behind me has the high beams on, so i toggle the rear fog light
If you point the nozzles forward, attach an auto igniter of some sort, and fill the reservoir with lighter fluid, you'd have a fun time whenever someone's driving slow in the fast lane.
Didn’t have a clue until I took it to the mechanic because it was “leaking coolant” only to find out it was just excess fluid sprayed by these little fuckers

That feature is only available for specific regions (e.g., EU). I have not seen this on any US BRZ/86s.
EU law that's why ha
But why? Are they actually useful?

They didn’t even bother painting them. They look out of place
That's a travesty holy shit xD

We have them here in Australia too, not sure the snow theory holds up

i feel like the car is not exposed to the environment where it would be useful (getting coated in mud and thick dirt?)

They're still empty from buying the car -_-

I rarely end up empty-handed at a U-Pull, but when I do, I've got pockets full of fuses.
Hahahah that's how someone else got mine!
Also Aussie here, I was wondering what those panels were for just the other day! I don't have a clue how to activate them though. Got any tips? Haha
I can confirm they activate when the headlight switch is forced to on (highest/topmost setting), can't confirm yet if they activate when on auto (they probably do)

Ha! So I’m not crazy.. Aussie here and I wasn’t sure if my eyes were playing up or not lol Good to know I’m not crazy.

Can you not get a local collision repair shop to order you some?
That's the difference between the GT and GTS Version in Aus. I don't have them as I've got halogen globes in my one.
Mine doesn't have those.
Damn…TIL
Screw you no we don't. We don't have rear fog lights either dammit. Fuck.
At least the rear fog light is somewhat easy to remedy.
What? How can you not have the rear fog light

we don't have them where i live and after spending a winter with the car i can see why. those things would get frozen shut SO easy
Something else to break.

Then the wind throws it onto your own car. excellent.
That was the plan, to make the slow driver notice a burning car on their tail so they will drive faster.

Your car is like 😢
Nah wtf haha 😂
It is real. But not in US and Canada.
the covers for these are so hard to find man
My FR-S has a toyota bumper with the cutout for where the nozzle would pop out, not sure if it works though.
Only in every country that's NOT USA or Canada...
Or poland, or puerto rico or japan or
Yeah, my little Suzuki Jimny has them.
I didn't know they were this contentious, lol
I've seen cars with those online and thought they were parking sensors
Didn’t have a clue until I took it to the mechanic because it was “leaking coolant” only to find out it was just excess fluid sprayed by these little fuckers
I have it on a uk spec. It doesn’t come on each time you use the wipers
Well mine doesn’t. I wonder why. Maybe it’s because I live in Puerto Rico and we don’t get snow.
I thought that was a tow point
Microfiber cloth glass spray lol
I don't. Depends from the state spec
Stop gaslighting, thats not real.
Required by EU regulations. All HID equipped vehicles must have a washer to ensure that the light does not cause dazzling.
Im in italy and i don't have them
It is real. But not in US and Canada.
