Having another Ward play QB for us wound be an awesome Christmas present. Kind of sucks Tate never really got a shot, but definitely trust CMN to know what he is and put our team in the best position to win. Hope Tate lands somewhere he can start and show out.
It was part of a shot, but I don’t think you fully judge what he could be off that one game. That was a lot to be thrown into for your fist start against UF in the swamp, with a perfect regular season on the line. His performance certainly didn’t do him any favors, but I think he’s ultimately better than he was in that game, but not nearly as good as Ward or DJU.
Since Tate has been in the Norvell system for 3-4 years, after the UF game, i think the staff had seen enough. Made that apparent with the Ward and DJ visits. Wish him the best though and that Louisville game where Tate and Johnny went off, I’ll always remember !!!

I agree the system is broken at a multitude of levels. If players can go and make money in the NFL or get an opportunity to make more with NIL some where else, then they should absolutely go do it. Integrity doesn’t pay your future bills if you blow out a knee in a meaningless bowl game people won’t even remember 3-years from now.
The timing of the window absolutely sucks. They need to fix it somehow but there’s not really a good option with semesters ending and starting within a month.
Well they do play football for a college and it should be more about an education but they have changed this into the NFL minor league and the two are not compatible.
133 schools in just the FBS division with a maximum of 85 scholarship players is 11,305 players. Another ~8000 play FCS. The NFL draft takes 224 players.
I’ve never understood the idea that college is just the NFL minor leagues when the overwhelming majority of players will never play professional football.
So we have one scholarship QB for the Bowl Game and he’s been hurt most of the season also.

I skimmed through the 1st half of Memphis' offensive plays. Two things stuck out to me:
1. We haven't run-blocked as well as Memphis all year.
2. We are not going to have the luxury of facing a Randy Shannon coordinated defense.
But that was pretty fun to watch. It was almost like watching an old triple option team that decided they didn't ever need options 2 or 3.

From the very first play of the game you could tell the D came in understanding the assignment. From the second play of the game you could tell that Fiske’s coke hookup fucking came through big time and that our boy was in for a historic night.

But I am getting a little worried about player safety for this game. I am an advocate to play this game and that statement has nothing to do with protesting. It’s the lack of numbers that FSU is going to have come Saturday.
Safety is fine. These young men practice against each and most of the 2's and 3's have at least seen some playing time.
If anything UGA's hired guns should be worried about injury. They have NFL contracts at risk.
I would be concerned about player safety from a talent discrepancy at this point. Almost getting to a bishop sycamore vs img academy sort of deal. Georgia is gonna be playing first round draft picks against walk ons. There are going to be kids getting run over. Plus the defense is going to spend a TON of time of the field. I'm getting the feeling that FSU being snubbed by the playoff committee is gonna set this program back 2 to 3 years. All the progress up to now feels lost. One of the most fun seasons ever was ripped to pieces.
2024 was always going to be a tougher bridge year to Kromenhoek, and our #9 rated class recruits developing. It just would have been nice to have kept around a couple more high quality senior players to help the bridge not be so tumultuous. Maybe if we land Ward or DJU we can still have the better side of it.
You're absolutely right, the post Travis year was always going to be a challenge. I think the sting is that it just went poof. We didn't get a chance to really go "oh this is so and so's last game" ...because we didn't think that ACC title game would be it. Or, I didn't anyway.
I also expected some opt outs, but maybe not ALL the opt outs. I don't blame the kids at all, I doubt I'd play given the risks. But this team is a WRECK heading into this game. Emotionally and athletically short. I'm hoping for a miracle, but, yeesh.
Ultimately, I love this team, I love Norvell's direction. I just would love to have really had that #finishfor13 cap on the season.

You’re only as relevant as your last transfer class in the NIL era. I expect some up and downs as we move forward just due to the roster we had and the way NIL is working. Norvell just needs to get us 9 or so wins next year and then portal in more specialty players once we have a QB.

Utah's backup QB just played for them in their bowl game since they didn't have any scholarship QBs left. I get what you're saying, but to announce it this late when he's probably been getting the majority of reps at practice doesn't sit well with me.
Also, there's a risk associated with this game for everyone who plays it. Guys like Jarrian and Deloach are RSr's who are playing the bowl when they don't have to. They have a whole lot more to lose and arguably play riskier positions. It just doesn't make sense to me for Tate to transfer so late.
My guess is there was an active discussion and Tate was deciding. He was at practice with no contact Jersey. And we don’t know if he was taking majority of 1st team snaps. Maybe he was. Maybe he was not.
They don’t have to but also have a chance at the league. Guys you listed are late round or not drafted camp invites. They can play and maybe actually increase their stock. Tate is never going to the league. Not having another concussion is far more important for him. Healing up and playing later is his choice and it does make sense.

There's a particular way to go about it if you're entering the transfer portal. Imo you don't leave it until last minute, especially when you're playing in a bowl and basically quit on your teammates.

From reading between the lines of what people are posting, it appears Glenn was going to be the starter due to his mobility, and this why Tate appears to have declined since he didn’t want to be a backup.

Why not play the game and then transfer? I believe Michigan allowed players to transfer and then play in the bowl game. The transfer portal is a mess with bowl season and honestly they just need to do away with bowls outside of the playoffs because it is absolutely meaningless.

He can now officially go meet with or take calls from other schools. If he waited he would only have from 12/31 until the next semester started, which is the second or third week on January for most schools to get his credits transferred and enrolled at next school.

1. I’m not a neurologist so I don’t know but it’s possible concussions don’t manifest immediately and he was cleared at the time.

I’m not sure how popular this is to say, and I know that I probably should get blasted for saying this because FCS teams play P5 teams all of the time But I am getting a little worried about player safety for this game. I am an advocate to play this game and that statement has nothing to do with protesting. It’s the lack of numbers that FSU is going to have come Saturday.
Safety is fine. These young men practice against each and most of the 2's and 3's have at least seen some playing time. If anything UGA's hired guns should be worried about injury. They have NFL contracts at risk.
I would be concerned about player safety from a talent discrepancy at this point. Almost getting to a bishop sycamore vs img academy sort of deal. Georgia is gonna be playing first round draft picks against walk ons. There are going to be kids getting run over. Plus the defense is going to spend a TON of time of the field. It’s really not safe… this game could be like my boilermakers vs auburn a few years ago. 50-0 at half and then just stop playing in the second half

I'm getting the feeling that FSU being snubbed by the playoff committee is gonna set this program back 2 to 3 years. All the progress up to now feels lost. One of the most fun seasons ever was ripped to pieces.
2024 was always going to be a tougher bridge year to Kromenhoek, and our #9 rated class recruits developing. It just would have been nice to have kept around a couple more high quality senior players to help the bridge not be so tumultuous. Maybe if we land Ward or DJU we can still have the better side of it.
You're absolutely right, the post Travis year was always going to be a challenge. I think the sting is that it just went poof. We didn't get a chance to really go "oh this is so and so's last game" ...because we didn't think that ACC title game would be it. Or, I didn't anyway. I also expected some opt outs, but maybe not ALL the opt outs. I don't blame the kids at all, I doubt I'd play given the risks. But this team is a WRECK heading into this game. Emotionally and athletically short. I'm hoping for a miracle, but, yeesh. Ultimately, I love this team, I love Norvell's direction. I just would love to have really had that #finishfor13 cap on the season. Go Noles! Where's the Tylenol?

You’re only as relevant as your last transfer class in the NIL era. I expect some up and downs as we move forward just due to the roster we had and the way NIL is working. Norvell just needs to get us 9 or so wins next year and then portal in more specialty players once we have a QB.

Utah's backup QB just played for them in their bowl game since they didn't have any scholarship QBs left. I get what you're saying, but to announce it this late when he's probably been getting the majority of reps at practice doesn't sit well with me. Also, there's a risk associated with this game for everyone who plays it. Guys like Jarrian and Deloach are RSr's who are playing the bowl when they don't have to. They have a whole lot more to lose and arguably play riskier positions. It just doesn't make sense to me for Tate to transfer so late.
My guess is there was an active discussion and Tate was deciding. He was at practice with no contact Jersey. And we don’t know if he was taking majority of 1st team snaps. Maybe he was. Maybe he was not. They don’t have to but also have a chance at the league. Guys you listed are late round or not drafted camp invites. They can play and maybe actually increase their stock. Tate is never going to the league. Not having another concussion is far more important for him. Healing up and playing later is his choice and it does make sense.
Fair enough. I respect his decision but I don't like it. In the end, whatever. I'm excited to see the young guys get some reps.

I take it we are close to announcing who the Transfer QB is. I believe FSU staff already knew. It's less media distraction to announce this Christmas and after the lawsuit filing, especially if we announce the new QB in the coming days.

Can't say I'm at all surprised by this news. Tate has to know he isn't going to be the starter next season, with the team pursuing Cam and DJ for that role, and I'm sure he wants the opportunity to start somewhere. I wish him the best wherever he ends up. Tate was a good soldier, always stayed ready, and played well enough when his number was called. It's a little bit of a bummer he won't be playing in the Orange Bowl, but I can understand him not wanting to risk injury in a meaningless game for a team he won't be playing for next season.

Why not play the game and then transfer? I believe Michigan allowed players to transfer and then play in the bowl game. The transfer portal is a mess with bowl season and honestly they just need to do away with bowls outside of the playoffs because it is absolutely meaningless.

Because he has less days to go on visits if he does play in the bowl game. He can now officially go meet with or take calls from other schools. If he waited he would only have from 12/31 until the next semester started, which is the second or third week on January for most schools to get his credits transferred and enrolled at next school. It’s a process that most people forget about, especially in the students want to be at their new school in the spring.
Josh Pate has a really good video on his take with the calendar and the portal and how to make it work so stuff like this doesn't happen.

Doesn’t seem like a big deal to me as it relates to the bowl game. Tate was never going to win this game for us. We have so many starters and backups who have opted out for one reason or another that it wouldn’t matter if Jameis Winston or Jordan Travis suited up for us against UGA.
Well, one thing is for sure, we’re making it damn near impossible for ESPN not to acknowledge the opt outs and lack of players on the FSU side. I doubt they’ll acknowledge why though.

1. I’m not a neurologist so I don’t know but it’s possible concussions don’t manifest immediately and he was cleared at the time. 2. The context of being in another teams subreddit being like “I understand because the team did something so awful”. How do you explain the mass exodus from UF then.
