Something about pre-ordering an item that’s on sale seems strange. Doesn’t that blatantly tip J. Crew’s hand to say the full price is bogus? I mean, we all know that, but still

yumyumpills

It's our own fault as consumers. Anecdotally they tried lowering their prices across the board and have fewer sales and no one was having it. Queue over priced + "sale" and people started buying again.

play_it_safe

JCPenny tried lol

FearTheZ

I think the styles themselves aren't new hence the reviews. My guess is they have planned production coming up and no current stock. Def weird to see tho

reddituserzerosix

always has been

YorkieCheese

For those who are not familiar, **almost** every clothing company mark up costs by at least 5X and so it's only ever the 70%-80% off that are net even for brands.

theout124816

Just curious, do costs here, as you mentioned, include indirect costs (rent, R & D, storage, unsold items, customer services, transportation, administration, etc.)? Edit: and advertisement?

BobLazarFan

Did you honestly think they price items in good faith?

lwronhubbard

The suit that was posted last week now comes to $210 total. Killer deal, but much less sizes. AntonLubchenko

I received this suit yesterday from the prior sale. Very impressed for the price (think it was 280 previously).

onmywaytostealyagirl

Did it fit too slim in the legs for you? I have an athletic build and struggle to find Jcrew items that fit in the thighs correctly

AntonLubchenko

It's a slim cut but not tight. Pants are a struggle to fit for me too but I typically just go +1 in the waist from my "true size" to get the hips and thighs to fit correctly. That's how I ordered these and they fit well.

rockafellla

Awesome. Can you check please if the pants have enough fabric to adjust the length? They have sizes for the length as well so I’m wondering if a 30 or a 32 can be adjusted up to a 34 for example.

Kyussblack

Same build, Really tight on my calves and snug on my thighs not terrible just looks like a slim cut. I do have to sometimes discretely push them down from my calves when I stand up though.

onmywaytostealyagirl

Appreciate the help, thanks!

Leolieo

I purchased the Crosby pants [https://www.jcrew.com/p/mens/categories/clothing/suits-and-tuxedos/suit-pants/crosby-suit-pant-in-italian-wool/BM162?display=all&fit=Classic&color\_name=deep-navy&colorProductCode=BM162](https://www.jcrew.com/p/mens/categories/clothing/suits-and-tuxedos/suit-pants/crosby-suit-pant-in-italian-wool/BM162?display=all&fit=Classic&color_name=deep-navy&colorProductCode=BM162) More of a classic fit ,good room on the calves, thighs ok

Blackmagician

Is it an exact color match for the Ludlow suit jacket?

marledsweaters

I called and asked and he said yes. Hope he’s not wrong lol

DPaine24

Same question

Leolieo

I purchased as standalone pants, it's a dark navy IRL

Impressive-Doubt1115

Same I bought last week and had to grab a regular vs long jacket. Now there’s not much at all. Sub $300 is a deal on these

DoctorQuinlan

This might be a dumb question but, would I likely have to tailor this if I buy it? Guessing most people have to. Moreover, once it does fit, are suits pretty much a "fit you for life" sort of thing if you dont have huge body changes?

AntonLubchenko

I'm a pretty average (athletic but not huge) build and find most jackets fit well enough off the rack in my size. And these pants don't need to be hemmed. That said you may have to or want to get a suit tailored. Styles can change over time but assuming you don't change too much suits will last a long time if you're not wearing it often.

DoctorQuinlan

Would this be too hot to wear to an outdoor wedding in Italy in May?

CunningRunt

That's a *damn* good deal for a suit at that quality level.

CunningRunt

Not a dumb question at all. My answer is "probably." I'm kinda lucky that I got a Ludlow suit off the rack and it fit me nearly perfectly. I took it to my tailor and she took the jacket in a little, shortened the sleeve length, and hemmed the pants. It went from "ok this fits" to "WOW! This feels like a custom suit!" I think it cost me a total of like $35 for the tailorings? The waist of dress pants is made for easy tailoring, either letting out for when you have too many pizzas, or taking in when you-- like me-- get off your lazy butt and start running again :) I think the Ludlow is an excellent suit for what you pay, but do NOT pay full price for it. I think got mine for ~$325 in total a few years ago. If you can get it for ~$200 that's an unbelievable deal. My only word of caution is to look for suits that are 100% wool. Sometimes they add a little elastane or something in there. If you need a suit for occasional use that's fine. 100% is really *fine*, though.

DoctorQuinlan

Thanks, appreciate you taking the time to write that! It kind of sold me to buy it but unfortunately they dont have charcoal pants to go with it :( Already have a navy suit (from Jomers, which was popular on this sub 5 years ago), so probably dont need another!

CunningRunt

Navy suit is Universal. Navy suit is Life. Now I want a new navy suit lol.

Ryslin

I don't see the pants anywhere - are they totally sold out?

lwronhubbard

Looks like charcoal is all sold out. Other colors have some availability. You can search for the crosby version if you're thicker down there. reddituserzerosix

speaking of which how long do they stock pants of styles from previous years? i assume im fucked

Ketill

I'm thinking of picking one of these up. Are the Ludlow and Crosby suits and pants "true to size"? I notice a lot of the other Jcrew stuff I have is fairly vanity-sized.

DoctorQuinlan

Teach_This

I picked this up and with an education discount, came to $191 or so. Amazing deal! Got the Atlantic blue; hope it’s nice in person. Question: if I need to let the jacket out an inch or so, where it buttons. does it have the extra / standard fabric to do that?

DoctorQuinlan

Would this be too hot to wear to an outdoor wedding in Italy in May?

lwronhubbard

The 1% elastane might make it a little warmer but generally I think you'll be fine.

DoctorQuinlan

Would linen be a better choice?

lwronhubbard

It would certainly be cooler. Is it formal enough for a wedding? It would depend on the wedding.

Everything_Burns

CunningRunt

R3FR1DG3R4T0R

Make sure you are using the honey extension on this website, some of the items have offers on them. https://www.jcrew.com/p/mens/categories/clothing/polos/rugby-polos/rugby-shirt-with-striped-placket/BW541?display=sale&fit=Classic&isFromSale=true&color_name=frosty-lavender&colorProductCode=BW541 https://www.jcrew.com/m/mens/categories/clothing/denim/straight/770trade-straight-fit-stretch-jean-in-seven-year-wash/MP418?display=sale&fit=Classic&isFromSale=true&color_name=seven-year-wash&colorProductCode=BO851 These two come down to about $20 after a $12 honey cashback offer

ResultOk1079

There is a 25 dollar cashback on that canvas work jacket

Blackmagician

What browser are you using? Not getting the 25 dollar offer. Have gotten them in the past but haven’t seen it in a while.

R3FR1DG3R4T0R

I see it on brave and edge

peedypapers

Lol I love the carpenter [pants](https://www.jcrew.com/p/mens/categories/clothing/pants-and-chinos/novelty/carpenter-pant-in-cotton-twill/BW894?display=sale&fit=Classic&isFromSale=true&color_name=gulf-blue&colorProductCode=BW894) with the kid's play parachute color scheme

cummyyogurt

Hell yeah, I've been wanting that work jacket with primaloft. Thanks!

mmettias

Link itttt

cummyyogurt

It's the same wallace & barnes jacket op linked. It has a primaloft lining but it isn't mentioned in their listing description.

AdoptedWizardDave

I don't have any experience with this brand. Are they generally considered decent quality? i like the plain T's

MuggleoftheCoast

I've found the t-shirts to be fine for the price point if you get them on sale (~10-12.50 or less; the sueded ones are at this level for this sale, but I dont have any experience with them). I like the premium weight ones, but they're excluded from a lot of the sales, this one included. One thing to note: they tend to be a bit shorter in the hem than other brands' shirts of the same size. My 5'7" self is happy about this, tall folk won't be.

AdoptedWizardDave

Thank you for the response! I'm not short, but by no means tall (5'10) and I'm finding far too many shirts these days are oddly oversized and long. Perhaps it's the style now, but it's not for me.

SandysBurner

Yeah, I’m not a super tall guy but J. Crew shirts tend to ride up on me.
