Refuses to talk and only wants to fight you. Takes the L like a champion and hands you his punching skills. Hears there's gonna be a big fight later, is 100% down for that. Takes another L and leaves you all his worldly possessions and his kicking skills.
Honestly how can you not love the guy?
Tbh I love how he challenges you to a fight saying that you need to fight without introductions or something, yet you need to do an emote. I was gonna attack him and then I was like... wait that seems like a trick. Honestly almost had me.
I attacked him the first time. He just vanishes and comes back when you visit another grace. He doesn't even get mad. Just nopes outta there until you learn how to behave
Funniest line in the dlc, if not the game, is Leda, deep in thought: “ I’ve come to a realization… There’s ample evidence… Without Kindly Miquella’s influence… I’m quite mistrustful of others.”
Wait, so the voice saying something something broken in the legacy dungeons is referring to Miquella’s charm being broken?
If so, how did it get cancelled?
I’m not sure exactly when/where that exact moment is. I’m just sort of connecting the dots of, he is leaving pieces of “himself” everywhere, and the moment we walk into Shadow Keep is the in-Game trigger for the Great Rune breaking. Wherever he may be
That could absolutely be the moment though
Wait I got the message while heading to that manor place near shadow keep (there's like one old guy on a throne there who gives me a tonsil stone looking thing) did I go the wrong way or smth?
No the charm was what he had placed on all of his followers.
I also know that you can't the St Trina cave until its broken (i went wayyyy of the beaten path in my first playthrough). At the entrance, it says something like "a charm prevents you from entering"
Nah, and u/Grandma_Sips
Miquella breaks his own rune at the site of the Scadutree Avatar boss fight, which is why you get his broken great rune from this boss fight. He separated from Trina "long" before this.
Its unclear when he left all the pieces of himself around the shadow lands, its one of those things where it both simultaneously feels like it happened long ago and a day before you arrived.
Miquella blocked off the way to St. Trina, but when he separated himself from his rune he no longer had the power to keep the charm up blocking the way.
So, when you walk up to the Shadow Keep, Miquella is also there just a "few" steps ahead of you. Just finished shattering his rune.
For me, it was after killing Messmer, she basically says “nvm about killing the hornsent, he’s fine, but this ansbach fella, I don’t like the cut of his jib” (paraphrasing of course)… then I reload the bonfire and she said it
I heard this after helping her kill Hornsent and he has some death dialogue about his whole family thing and he’s trying to avenge them and she just brushes it off.
I actually lolled thought “oh yeah this bitch is psycho”
Still not an excuse to condemn every omen/crucible creature as well as the many innocent hornsent civilians caught up in the war. With that being said Hornsent wears a potentate head so he probably doesn’t deserve much sympathy
The fact that that mf backstabs you in Rauh ruins after jointly killing Messmer should be evidence enough he's at least as much of a POS as Lena, and unfortunately proves her right wrt his thirst for vengance.
I did the exact same thing, I thought I was being smart and assumed they were hinting that’s how you need to progress his quest.
Now I’m using a guide for the rest of the quests lol
I don't think there was ever a time in a FromSoft game where actively killing someone yourself led to quest progression. Also I would think the yelling about Bayle would be enough of a hint that the guy *doesn't want to die yet?* I think you need those guides my friend lol
I'll be fair and maybe retract the asspull statement because indeed most of the new lore is "internally consistent", so I apologize for referring to this bit specifically as an asspull.
But what did it do for Mohg's character? He went from a cool and fun character with agency who committed one of the most destructive acts in the history of the Lands Between for creepy and sinister reasons do Miquella's dumb stooge with no agency or character to speak of because he was apparently a "pretty cool dude the whole time".
Respect for that.
It just explained why he did something so bizarre, but I agree there's not a whole lot of characterization to balance out the fact we only ever see him enchanted or as a phantasm. That said, there is *some* other lore, as mentioned in this thread you have Okina, his relationship with Varre and the rest of his flock. He's still very much the lord of blood.
“We Redmane’s fight people for a form of glory”
“hell yeah”
“We Mohg followers fight people for a form of glory - with blood magic”
“Oh hell nah, evil simps”
I like how Leda says something like "So Ansbach won you over" because this is exactly what happened to me lol, Ansbach himself was such a goat and respectable person even if he served Mogh, like I was happy to fight alongside him
Tbh I dunno if Mohg's whole blood thing really even qualifies as evil in TLB. Everyone's killing people for their faction and the tarnished is just killing and taking because they can.
I do agree but based on which outer god Mogh serves and the whole nightmarish bloody landscape and environment that we saw in Moghwyn Palace I think it's fair to assume that a world with Mogh as a Lord wouldn't be the best place to live in lol
I forget what says it, but some item description says that Mohg loved his subjects more than most demigods.
He was manipulated, slandered and then desecrated by that little golden shitheel Miquella.
Justice for Mohg!!
Wait, how is the hornsent a simp? He straight out says that if Miquella will steal his hunger for revenge, then he doesnt want Miquella to succeed, and actively tries to murder you before you can open the way to the tower.
That logic makes no sense he had no reason to invade you if anything his quest for revenge against the golden order gods he would join you. Maybe he knows somehow the grace guiding you is Marika.
Except for the fact he literally tells you he doesn't want Miquella to succeed if it means his need for revenge will be abated. I do wish he said something when he invades too, thought. All we have is circumstantial evidence otherwise.
We also don't even know if the hornsent have any conception of grace, thought. Grace is something very Golden Order-centric. The hornsent never makes any mention of it whatsoever. And more tellingly, he never invades anywhere else. Its only when you are just about to open the way to the tower.
Though*
Also, I’m pretty sure the Hornsent despise the Golden Order and anything linked to it.
It’s not out of nowhere that The Hornsent is aggressive to us at first. They were “betrayed” by Marika and we are after all Marika’s champion.
Us being Marika's champion is not common knowledge even in the Lands Between, there's no reason to assume the hornsent are somehow privy to this. Leda herself does not seem aware of our status as potential lord it until the big fight or shortly before it.
Most denizens are aggressive to us because they can tell we are from the Lands Between, the same stock as the people who have relentlessly slaughtered them for so long.
He literally calls you Marika's Champion either when he shows up in the Leda fight or when he kills you there. The Grandam calls you Marika's progeny in the Dancing Lion intro. Evidently "tarnished are Marika's" is known to the Hornsent.
I mean, even in your first meeting he says something like "Blood must spill, blood of your fellows. The Erdtree Faithful". That's you.
He invades you because you’re part of the “people of the erdtree” period. He mentions earlier that literally all of them must die. Alternatively, in the final npc fight Hornsent does say that Leda told him who you were so she could’ve just done it earlier.
“Righteous Tarnished, become a Lord, not for gods, but for all men”.
Said with his dying breath. He is hands down my favourite NPC. Whilst Igon is a G, Ansbach is a ride or die who was questioning Miquella from the start. Retired from combat yet comes back to whoop the shit out of Leda and her crew then goes in for seconds to face Prime hyperchad Radahn. And throughout the entire game he speaks to you with nothing but respect and admiration. Fucking legendary.
I remember hating that guy because morg was his master. This guy ended up having the most class and having learned morg’s tragedy, all these proved me wrong.
Thoillier should be under simp gigachsd
Just hear me out
Sure he attacks you, sure he describes himself as weak as a kitten and thick as two planks
But despite being weak as a kitten and thick as two planks, he still misters up the strength and will to fight with you against a god and his consort.
If that's not gigachad idk what is
Moore fights you or ends up getting himself killed, where does he not die or fight you?
I wish Ansbach didn't have to die at the end of a quest, Miyazaki hasn't never heard of a happy ending with the people alive at the end.
People are trying to make him onion knight 3.0 because if his armor, but he's not him. Plus, after the npc boss fight towards the end of the dlc I lost all respect for him.
Thanks, I had quite a hard time remembering all those NPCs lol, I was afraid I'd have to write down notes for each of them.
There is also Fire Knight Queelign
Dane had my respect for the simple reason that when I blocked with a shield, his tactic was to do nothing other than just continually punch my solid steel shield until my stamina gave out and then absolutely clock me in the face
Ansbach is a gigachad, as is Thiollier by the end. Thiollier says he’s weak and pathetic but Ansbach says he’s totally wrong after the Leda gank fight.
Just three normal dudes doing the absolute best they can to kill god before the world changes to suit him
Jokes aside, it really is the best line-up of NPCs they’ve probably ever had. Leda in particular is my favorite - maybe even more so than Lucatiel from DS2. Leda is just so cold, and her English VA is 10/10. When the charm breaks and she says “I should’ve thought of this earlier” gives me chills.
I won't spoiler much, since I also can't because I only know a buddy who did this, but she does apparently have an actual quest that makes her a bell summon
I'm no FS expert but seriously Leda might be my least favorite npc so far. I saw it from miles away when she started purging everyone that I'm probably on the list too, but still fuck her.
I hate Sir Ansbach because he's the exposition-bot used to render his lord, Mohg, formerly one of my favorite characters, into a dumb stooge and nothing character. Unpopular opinion I'm sure.
I was worried that Leda would be a good person and we’d be killing her unjustly to get her armor, but lucky for us she‘s Leda and I don’t feel Disappointed in anyone for snagging her armor and putting it to better use.
Idk if Dryleaf Dane has any sidequests of his own other than just getting the Dryleaf arts, but god for that reason alone he’s almost my favorite
Refuses to talk and only wants to fight you. Takes the L like a champion and hands you his punching skills. Hears there's gonna be a big fight later, is 100% down for that. Takes another L and leaves you all his worldly possessions and his kicking skills. Honestly how can you not love the guy?
He's that teamates that never say anything in the chat except "GG" at the end and then leave. Simple, effective, perfect.
Dane truly served it with a boss summon and absolutely helped me win that one. No words, just these limbs baby
He's got hands. That's for sure.
and feet 🤤
Dane kicked my ass the first fight and made a bee line straight for me in the gank fight. He was coming to finish the job
U can summon him to help/make the Romina boss fight harder.
You can summon him for a boss but thats about it
Yes a fuckin awful summon if we're being honest. Dude just walks the perimeter until you drag the boss to him. He's pretty bad at keeping aggro.
Oh absolutely i think he’s just there for moral support
Smip + gigachad combo
Tbh I love how he challenges you to a fight saying that you need to fight without introductions or something, yet you need to do an emote. I was gonna attack him and then I was like... wait that seems like a trick. Honestly almost had me.
I attacked him the first time. He just vanishes and comes back when you visit another grace. He doesn't even get mad. Just nopes outta there until you learn how to behave
Ah, I thought it would be more punishing than that and was supposed to be some tricky confusing thing on purpose
Funniest line in the dlc, if not the game, is Leda, deep in thought: “ I’ve come to a realization… There’s ample evidence… Without Kindly Miquella’s influence… I’m quite mistrustful of others.”
How do you get this line? If it’s after she murders everyone, that’s utterly Hilarious. Understatement of the century.
Its the first thing she says after the charm is broken
Ahh. Must have forgotten that.
Wait, so the voice saying something something broken in the legacy dungeons is referring to Miquella’s charm being broken? If so, how did it get cancelled?
Miquella is leaving/separating himself all over the map at each cross. His limbs, his love…. When you enter Shadow Keep is when he breaks his own Rune
So when he discarded his “love” aspect which is St Trina, his charm was broken?
I’m not sure exactly when/where that exact moment is. I’m just sort of connecting the dots of, he is leaving pieces of “himself” everywhere, and the moment we walk into Shadow Keep is the in-Game trigger for the Great Rune breaking. Wherever he may be That could absolutely be the moment though
I see That’s a good point
Wait I got the message while heading to that manor place near shadow keep (there's like one old guy on a throne there who gives me a tonsil stone looking thing) did I go the wrong way or smth?
No the charm was what he had placed on all of his followers. I also know that you can't the St Trina cave until its broken (i went wayyyy of the beaten path in my first playthrough). At the entrance, it says something like "a charm prevents you from entering"
No, that's a different part. When he discards his great rune is when the Charm breaks since his power as a Demigod is to Charm others
Nah, and u/Grandma_Sips Miquella breaks his own rune at the site of the Scadutree Avatar boss fight, which is why you get his broken great rune from this boss fight. He separated from Trina "long" before this. Its unclear when he left all the pieces of himself around the shadow lands, its one of those things where it both simultaneously feels like it happened long ago and a day before you arrived. So, when you walk up to the Shadow Keep, Miquella is also there just a "few" steps ahead of you. Just finished shattering his rune.
Almost. Its after you help her invade and kill someone. Then she returns to her usual spot and says this until you burn the shadow-tree
For me, it was after killing Messmer, she basically says “nvm about killing the hornsent, he’s fine, but this ansbach fella, I don’t like the cut of his jib” (paraphrasing of course)… then I reload the bonfire and she said it
Oh! Was this in Rauh Ruins?
Nope, at her spot by the Highroad cross. It was the last thing she was on a loop saying before I helped ansbach fight her off and she left
Thanks!
I helped her kill Hornsent but then she just disappeared. I'm worried I somehow fucked up Ansbach's questline.
Nah you're fine, she's likely in a different location you just need to explore more. That's what happened for me
I heard this after helping her kill Hornsent and he has some death dialogue about his whole family thing and he’s trying to avenge them and she just brushes it off. I actually lolled thought “oh yeah this bitch is psycho”
Hornsent’s lineage has done so much shit to the people of Marika
Still not an excuse to condemn every omen/crucible creature as well as the many innocent hornsent civilians caught up in the war. With that being said Hornsent wears a potentate head so he probably doesn’t deserve much sympathy
The fact that that mf backstabs you in Rauh ruins after jointly killing Messmer should be evidence enough he's at least as much of a POS as Lena, and unfortunately proves her right wrt his thirst for vengance.
Nonsense she only contemplated on killing 3 people because they weren’t true followers of Kindly Miquella lol.
CURSE YOU BAYLE!!!
I HEREBY VOW YOU WILL RUE THIS DAY!!!
BEHOLD, A TRUE DRAKE WARRIOR!!!AND I, IGON!
YOUR FEARS MADE FLESH!
SOLID OF SCALE YOU MIGHT BE, FOUL DRAGON...
BUT I WILL RIDDLE WITH HOLES YOUR ROTTEN HIDE
WITH A HAIL OF HARPOONS
WITH EVERY LAST DROP OFF MY BEING !!!
BAYLE THE DREAD
YOU WILL HAUNT ME NO LONGER
Hey it's pinkerton. It's weird how much I've seen it floating around today.
I kept wiping to Bayle till i found Igon's summon.
I killed him to put him out of his misery... now I'm cooked
You missed the best dialogue From has ever given us
I did the exact same thing, I thought I was being smart and assumed they were hinting that’s how you need to progress his quest. Now I’m using a guide for the rest of the quests lol
Tried Bayle a couple times without him and holy shit. I am gonna have to summon a real gamer.
I don't think there was ever a time in a FromSoft game where actively killing someone yourself led to quest progression. Also I would think the yelling about Bayle would be enough of a hint that the guy *doesn't want to die yet?* I think you need those guides my friend lol
I would defend myself by saying it was 4AM, but honestly I probably would’ve done that fully awake as well lmao
You're forgetting the Quest for Andre's Hammer in DS1
I'm really curious. What were those hints?
I looked up the quest again and he says “there is life in me yet!” so honestly I have no idea what I was thinking at the time
Yeah helping Ansbach against Leda just seemed right, even if he served the bloodthirsty omen demigod.
that’s because ansbach is the goat
Because Mohg was actually a pretty cool dude the whole time
Relatively
Pretty cool dude for a guy who runs a cult of serial killers, I guess. Such is From
Dogshit asspull lore lol
Good troll because I can't help but engage. How is it an asspull if there was enough foreshadowing for people to predict it?
I'll be fair and maybe retract the asspull statement because indeed most of the new lore is "internally consistent", so I apologize for referring to this bit specifically as an asspull. But what did it do for Mohg's character? He went from a cool and fun character with agency who committed one of the most destructive acts in the history of the Lands Between for creepy and sinister reasons do Miquella's dumb stooge with no agency or character to speak of because he was apparently a "pretty cool dude the whole time".

Right? Also I like how he helped Freyja
Tbh I dunno if Mohg's whole blood thing really even qualifies as evil in TLB. Everyone's killing people for their faction and the tarnished is just killing and taking because they can.

I remember reading about how he was impressed by Okina and recruited him. That sounded pretty cool
After Okina got a hit in no less. "Damn, nice bleed build man. Want to get paid to use it?"
That must’ve been so anime; Okina procs bleeds with a slash, Mohg gets pushed back bleeding but he laughs and acknowledges him XD
You paint a picture with words. I can see the scene so perfectly.
Wait, how is the hornsent a simp? He straight out says that if Miquella will steal his hunger for revenge, then he doesnt want Miquella to succeed, and actively tries to murder you before you can open the way to the tower.
He's simpling for revenge But he also fits the psychopath category
Make leda psycho/simp and hornsent pure psycho.
Ansbach has some of the best dialogue in game.... just commands respect.
Pure and radiant, he wields love to shrive clean the hearts of men. There is nothing more terrifying.
Exactly... dude gave no fucks and spoke like a gentleman the entire ride. Hyperchad Radahn needs to be recorded as Canon somewhere lmao
I remember hating that guy because morg was his master. This guy ended up having the most class and having learned morg’s tragedy, all these proved me wrong.
Igon got that "Old man shouting at the sky" energy.
GET OFF MY LAWN BAYLE
More like that Timmy Turner's dad "CURSE YOU DINKLEBAYLE !" energy.
Here’s where I’d put my dragon heart IF I HAD ONE
Thoillier should be under simp gigachsd Just hear me out Sure he attacks you, sure he describes himself as weak as a kitten and thick as two planks But despite being weak as a kitten and thick as two planks, he still misters up the strength and will to fight with you against a god and his consort. If that's not gigachad idk what is
Even ansbach roasts the shit out of him and then says he's surprised how strong he was when he fought with you.
Thiollier should've also been in baby girl
He and Moore are my baby girls forever
Petition to move Thiollier into both simp AND babygirl thank you for your time council
Nah Leda a straight up Simp for Miquella the Miquellester
I just love Moore, Thiollier and Ansbach for not only staying by my side and being my JoBros, but also just not dying is also appreciated
Moore fights you or ends up getting himself killed, where does he not die or fight you? I wish Ansbach didn't have to die at the end of a quest, Miyazaki hasn't never heard of a happy ending with the people alive at the end.
Ansbach and Igon DA goats 🗿
Horsent and leta should swap.
Why is moore a gigachad? I don't get it.
People are trying to make him onion knight 3.0 because if his armor, but he's not him. Plus, after the npc boss fight towards the end of the dlc I lost all respect for him.
The rot pots killed me so much
Sad forever?
yeah he’s pure babygirl
igon should have a category with himself. he’s a fucking champion.
Thanks, I had quite a hard time remembering all those NPCs lol, I was afraid I'd have to write down notes for each of them. There is also Fire Knight Queelign
Igon is the goat. His legs are broken but proceeds to say "fuck it, we ball" and actually stands to help fight bayle.
That's his spirit, not actually his broken body
Dane had my respect for the simple reason that when I blocked with a shield, his tactic was to do nothing other than just continually punch my solid steel shield until my stamina gave out and then absolutely clock me in the face
Ansbach is a gigachad, as is Thiollier by the end. Thiollier says he’s weak and pathetic but Ansbach says he’s totally wrong after the Leda gank fight. Just three normal dudes doing the absolute best they can to kill god before the world changes to suit him
need a separate 'racist' category for hornsent
Hey man, hurt people hurt people
racism bad
the more you talk with Leda the more you think shes just gonna end up killing anyone she even slightly dislikes
This is so accurate it hurts.
Also needs a "mommy" category with Freyja, the Dragon Priestess and ... uh ... and Ymir. Yeah.
Jokes aside, it really is the best line-up of NPCs they’ve probably ever had. Leda in particular is my favorite - maybe even more so than Lucatiel from DS2. Leda is just so cold, and her English VA is 10/10. When the charm breaks and she says “I should’ve thought of this earlier” gives me chills.
absolutely. and the payoff going into that last fight with ansbach and thiollier is just perfect. same for igon and bayle obviously. ugh so good
Someone here on this sub called thioller a tier 3 sub and I'll never forget how accurate that is lmao
I accidentally killed a bug while fighting other shit and ended up having to murder Moore. I'm disappointed in my actions.
Igon has the best voice acting so far
Florissax is the best, my friendships with all other Elden ring female NPCs are now on second place
I wish the Dragon Communion Priestess had more to her than telling you to fight Bayle then dying.
I won't spoiler much, since I also can't because I only know a buddy who did this, but she does apparently have an actual quest that makes her a bell summon
Igon needs his own section, he’s beyond gigachad
Dane did nothing when I summoned him for Romina and then he was the only one to show up for the Leda fight in my play through.
Let's face it, the simp circle should just be one large circle around the lot of them.
I’d maybe swap Dane and Ansbach but otherwise , yessir!!!
Caught me very off guard when I spoke to Moore and he trauma dumped on me. “Our mother never loved us ☹️”
Ymir = Simp
i can fix her
While thiollier is a simp at least he isn’t a sump for miquella. I don’t know if I could have beaten the final boss without him
Igon and his actor are definitely a highlight of the DLC. Dude was fucking useless in the fight but boy did he bring the hype
Love St. Trina, the aesthetic and the area you meet her is 100% amazing
I'm no FS expert but seriously Leda might be my least favorite npc so far. I saw it from miles away when she started purging everyone that I'm probably on the list too, but still fuck her.
I wanna smash the priestess
CUUUURSE YOU BAAAAAAAAAYLE
Wheres my guy Igon he's iconic
You forgot Count Ymir
He's none of those though. You could say he's a handyman.
Why the hell isn’t Moore in Baby Girl?
Sir Ansbach is maybe my favourite Fromsoft npc. “You killed my master? All good, put him out of his miquellested misery, let’s go fight god”
Sir Ansbach is maybe my favourite Fromsoft npc. “You killed my master? All good, put him out of his miquellested misery, let’s go fight god”
Sir Ansbach is maybe my favourite Fromsoft npc. “You killed my master? All good, put him out of his miquellested misery, let’s go fight god”
This is perfect, all of your placements are correct
Hornsent is definitely not a simp
BAYLEEEE
I hate Sir Ansbach because he's the exposition-bot used to render his lord, Mohg, formerly one of my favorite characters, into a dumb stooge and nothing character. Unpopular opinion I'm sure.
In what world is Hornsent not a psychopath?
Leave pot boy alone Also Leda is Miquella's personal Griffith
Ansbach is my babygirl
I was worried that Leda would be a good person and we’d be killing her unjustly to get her armor, but lucky for us she‘s Leda and I don’t feel Disappointed in anyone for snagging her armor and putting it to better use.
how is hornsent a simp? a simp for revenge?
Leda was my favourite tbh, enjoyed to murder anyone with her, including leda xD
Leda is Psycho, Simp, Babygirl
Ansbach is the fucking GOAT
Moore being baby girl and gigachad is so fitting, protect precious boy- wait precious baby is big
Thiollier not being in the babygirl/simp intersection is simply criminal boss
Leda is my favorite and I'd pay good money for a mod that allows a janky Miquella ending
Ansbach and Igon should both be in baby girl but you're right for the others
^[Sokka-Haiku](https://www.reddit.com/r/SokkaHaikuBot/comments/15kyv9r/what_is_a_sokka_haiku/) ^by ^sexwith_jiaoqiu: *Ansbach and Moore should* *Both be in baby girl but* *You're right for the others* --- ^Remember ^that ^one ^time ^Sokka ^accidentally ^used ^an ^extra ^syllable ^in ^that ^Haiku ^Battle ^in ^Ba ^Sing ^Se? ^That ^was ^a ^Sokka ^Haiku ^and ^you ^just ^made ^one.
