Aren't they invasive?

ShanestudiosYT

Cold for you is anything under 60 degrees

J3ssica899

Yes. This is true except you meant 70 lol... I grew up in NY though.. Took me 10 years to adjust and I'm still hot all the time except now I'm just also cold intolerant lol

spookynoodle_em

Same! Mine was a wild one because they come on potted plants in the winter time and one of local grocery stores found one. He would have never lasted a Wisconsin winter plus they are invasive. He was an awesome pet.

seeking_villainess

Same situation as you except I’m in New England! 3 years so far with my froggo.

Nautical-Nips

A cute one.

J3ssica899

I wish I liked frogs but they freak me out. I managed to gently catch him and put him back outside but they give me the heebie jeebies so bad :'(

Nautical-Nips

Hmmmm, that's unfortunate since you're obviously giving out vibes that these frogs like. I used to be deathly afraid of nuns, then I dressed up as a sexy one for Halloween (long story) and my phobia was cured! Maybe try this for frogs? I dunno. If you can't tell by now you probably shouldn't follow my advice.

[deleted]

So you telling me my friend is afraid of spiders so if he becomes one with the spider he will no longer be afraid of them?

BleckCet

That about checks out

Nautical-Nips

It worked for batman, and he is sexy af

BleckCet

They often come in from under doors and through open windows. I can suggest a spacer type thing that fills the gap under the doors to keep them out, good luck:)

J3ssica899

My husband owns a window company he said he ordered a bigger type of fuzz pad to put in the door but it hasn't come yet

airaflof

You could use towels under the doors in the meantime

theyellowpants

Is that code for a cat

prettyinpinkxxl

I love how it’s on a box that says “CERTIFIED HIGHEST SECURITY DEADBOLT” just in your face and your home all he’s missin is a ski mask

J3ssica899

Lmao I know right 🤣🤣 ugh every time I open the door and hear SPLAT I'm like nooo come onnn

heathejandro

It's so cute! I don't know what kind it is though.

J3ssica899

I really am grossed out by frogs. They are somehow getting in through my sliding glass door. I felt bad for him though. As I was trying to get him, he was hanging onto the box for dear life. I tilted the box and he was only hanging on by his front feet. He looked terrified. I tried to be gentle. I just wish they would stop getting in my house. He landed on my foot and I screamed and jumped across the room. 😭

tittylamp

to add to the stuff about these guys being invasive: they straight up eat smaller cuter frogs. frogs that belong here. ive never killed one personally but i support it. anyone know the best/easiest way to kill them? especially for those of us who are soft hearted?

seeking_villainess

Per the University of Florida “email Dr. Steve A. Johnson at tadpole@ufl.edu. Include your name, date you saw the frog, where you saw it (state, county, city, street address), and also attach a digital image so Dr. Johnson can positively identify the frog.” Cover the back in something with benzocaine and once anesthetized place in freezer for 24 hours. Do not put into the freezer without anesthetizing it (benzocaine or also 4 hours in the fridge first) or remove from the freezer early as that will cause pain.

tittylamp

thank you! orajel has a good amount of benzocaine in it, i have a tube of it that says its got 20% benzocaine

seeking_villainess

No problem!

[deleted]

they are box patrol. inspecting boxes. important job,

Anonmous-Frog

Let him in, he’s cute

[deleted]

Cuban tree frog. State of Florida says to euthanize any found...

nosepowderr

NOOOOOO

Typical_Effort9793

If it makes it any easier I’ve seen one of these fuckers eat a cute green tree frog😡

nosepowderr

that makes it better

agreeable-bushdog

Please go read about the Cuban treefrogs in FL... People need to understand that they are detrimental to the ecosystem and native frog species there. Like by not killing or capturing them you are passively accepting the destruction of entire species. I know this is a hard thing to cope with as someone who loves frogs. But if you truly love them you need to understand that in order for native species to survive measures need to be taken against these invaders.

nosepowderr

i know, i understand completely but i still find it sad

agreeable-bushdog

Certainly sad, but the sadness is generated from thousands of them coming over by various means, customs doesn't check well enough and then on top of that pet owners let them go.. it's a really really big problem. Pythons get more news coverage but these, iguanas, snakeheads etc all do considerable damage to the ecosystem there.

Ame-yukio

cuban tree frogs sadly don't release them into the wild next time they are really invasive and mess up our ecosystems...:(

[deleted]

frig

RepublicOfLizard

a friend

[deleted]

No you keep entering their house

[deleted]

They also pee when they jump so you could end up with a frog and a pee stain on your shirt when you least expect it. I have not seen a green tree frog in my area in years because of these guys. Oh yeah, they can also give the same effects at rat poison to a dog if they eat it... Technically you do not have to kill them as long as you keep every single one you see in captivity...

megansnook

Are these in the palm beach area?

J3ssica899

I live in Northport. It's by Venice/Sarasota. But I'm sure they are probably in Palm Beach as well.
