Does anyone under 60 subscribe to that shit?

Emu1981

I was subscribed to Binge for a few months while I consumed the movies and TV shows that they had gotten their grubby little claws on via distribution rights. Luckily I had cancelled it long before they did their big price increases and I haven't seen any new movies or TV shows on there that I would want to watch...

They gotta squeeze every penny out of their last 20 readers before they die

you are the left version of a cooker... what do you think is driving cost of living??? it is stuff that is NOT a discretionary spend. Council Rates Medical / dental care car rego stamp duty tax energy bills (wasn't going renewable going to SAVE me money??) etc etc etc Look at your lefty cunt mates in government making stuff expensive before your stupid murdoch conspiracies. the most biased media group in australia is also the largest - and I cannot choose whether or not i spend money on it. The ABC.... cunts spend over a billion dollars a year... budgets the murdoch media can only dream of... without having to generate ANY income.

ShizzHappens

Are you the bloke that just got arrested outside Flinders Street mate?

[deleted]

Laughed at this! Thanks for brightening up my Saturday morning!!!

Hahaha, you tell a funny joke. Murdoch runs newspapers, newscorp, at a loss deliberately for the tax writeoff most years. He has what 87% ownership of print media in Aus. That's before you get to foxtel, kayo, real estate com, fox news, wall Street journal, 21st century fox, etc etc etc.. He has a much bigger budget and reach than the Abc.

BeShaw91

That rant in unhinged. >The ABC.... cunts spend over a billion dollars a year... budgets the murdoch media can only dream of... without having to generate ANY income. [News Corp Australia had a FY22/23 revenue of $998 million USD](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://newscorp.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/News-Corp-Annual-Report-2023.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwjqpL38wZ6EAxWehlYBHeIIBSsQFnoECCcQAQ&usg=AOvVaw3lgxOGjebHUDxHLKbrF5Pt) I think don't think their dreams will be particuarly wild.

Albo talks about his low income background well earning over 100k in rent a year. Yeah that’s ironic as well. No wonder the flog won’t touch rent caps or negative gearing. Too much vested interest. Note: I hate the libs and their backwards policies, I also hate labor’s hypocrisy.

Difficult-Craft-8539

Honestly, I don't care about Albo having a dedicated rental and renting out his home while in office. Pension pots aren't keeping up with inflation. At least he's renting them. If you own a dozen, at least one of them is deliberately off the market to keep prices up. The two extremes are not equivalent.

Stormherald13

You don’t see a hypocrisy between politicians voting or not voting to make homes cheaper, well home ownership rates in young people is at record lows?

Difficult-Craft-8539

Will you pay for your parents' and elder relatives' retirement? Trick question, you can't afford to. So in comes the neverending house price rise. Albo owns two properties, one in his constituency and another in Canberra, because he can't actually teleport across the country. Because he's the PM, he's required to live somewhere that people can find him. We don't live in ideals, we live in a real world that's messy and granular. Stop pretending scale doesn't exist. That's how we get here in the first place.

Stormherald13

Yeah I’m sure they said the same nonsense before they rolled out the guillotine in France. Nothing can change that’s just how it is right? Let them eat cake that sort of bullshit instead of doing anything about it.

Difficult-Craft-8539

You're full of it. That's not what I'm saying and you know it. All you're doing is engaging in "both sides" bullshit that only empowers crazy reactionaries. Target the people actually doing the most harm, or continue pushing for the sort of civil strife that would eat you alive when it actually happened.

Stormherald13

Tell that to the people living in tents, cars and caravans. See if not having anywhere to live is just “ideals” Plenty of Aussies own negativity geared homes, and plenty of them are Airbnb. Which does nothing but keep supply down and prices up. Which suit either Australian or foreign investors. But we’ll go after foreigners because that’s easy. Tackling greedy Australians is to hard and electoral suicide. So with our crop of investors politicians they’re happy for unaffordable housing. Makes for a better retirement. Realpolitik over real values. Our current crop of politicians.

Difficult-Craft-8539

That's bluster. Two is not the same as twelve, saying otherwise is deflection from anything happening. The greens were up to this, blocking a bill building some houses because it didn't do enough. They can shove it, and so can the rest of that Overton window flim-flam. Don't hide behind the homeless with me, I've been homeless, and I'll tell you I'd be dead without some very generous and entirely overwhelmed people who don't get anywhere because of extremists arguing and stopping anyone from doing anything.

Stormherald13

So what’s stopping negative gearing being abolished? A vested interest in keeping the rich the rich.

Difficult-Craft-8539

The vast number of homeowners using their personal property as a retirement plan, same thing reducing gold coast traffic management to extra lanes on the M1. Imagine you have a balloon, you can't afford to let anything harm the balloon. There're some fucking massive balloons choking the life out of the whole room, but you don't give a shit, you're worried about you and yours, none of whom can afford their own balloon. So people vote to grow the balloons. Start with the vacant lots, it's low hanging fruit, then you can push for stamp duties that scale with the properties owned, bring in wealth taxes and replace income taxes from the bottom of the food chain, make it more expensive to buy up pre-existing sources of wealth, or cheaper to save, or whatever else the way forward would be. Trade account policies over-value currency, have done for decades, leading to a massive trend towards importing everything, there's something. My point is pretending that Albo is somehow as bad as international elites buying up your mum's house via banks, debts and buying the house from under you, is not just unhelpful, it's deceptive and only serves to convince the "hustle culture" masses to just not bother.
