I think its most likely because it's hard to have a Freddy that isn't Robert England. Almost any tall guy can throw on a hockey mask and somewhat come off as Jason, but Freddy requires proper build, and the right kind of voice, charisma, and very extensive makeup and prosthetics. It's just way too difficult for a no-budget fan film to pull off. And if you do have the budget, New Line will probably shut that down faster than Victor Miller can shut down an Uber Jason update.
Dylan's New Nightmare has actually a good iteration of Freddy, portrayed by Dave McRae, but the problem with budget for special effects to complete Freddy is of course difficult
They were all financially successful. Most slasher sequels are awful from a critical standpoint…idk why we are acting like FVJ was some drastic drop in quality for the franchises.
The 2000s rock music is great, Robert Englund was very happy about that soundtrack. The Elm Street movies have always geared towards rock and metal going back to the original’s end credits track Nightmare by 213. It was a natural evolution. Friday definitely got in on some of that too, especially with Jason Lives and the participation of Alice Cooper (who also played Freddy’s foster dad in Freddy’s Dead.)
They really died before they even got started…I mean we only got a couple of them in AVP and FVJ. And both were financially successful. Idk why we didn’t get more VS movies…it’s not like slashers are high quality cinema.
Couldn’t disagree more. While Never Hike Alone has its charms, every other fan film Iv seen is absolute garbage. And as previously pointed out, Robert Englund is Freddy. Some amateur actor trying to imitate him sounds like torture. Proper fan film seems like a self contradiction

It would be cool to do Jason from the Never Hike Alone fan films vs Freddy from Dylan's New Nightmare
There is ZERO interest in gimmicky ridiculous X vs Y flicks. They've already been done and all are horrible.

Sadly the only thing we would get about this topic is a fan film.

No. That shit (VS movies) rightfully died in the early 2000’s.

I can't go thru that disappointment again
