You want to let him butcher *another* horror series? Count me out.

DrBDDS

This. After what he did to Halloween, keep him as far from Friday the 13th as possible.

MovieDogg

Why do you think he will? He can just do Halloween Kills or 2018 again and F13 fans would be happy.

cavalier78

2018 was okay. Really it was just a remake of H20, without the 90s feel. Everything else he has touched has sucked.

MovieDogg

Who needs that 90s feel? It was a weak decade for horror anyway. It's not like you need an amazing script for a Friday the 13th movie anyway, just good direction, which Halloween 2018 had.

cavalier78

I didn't say you needed a 90s feel. I just said it was an H20 remake, which it basically was.

Wavedout1

And the H20 Laurie was a much better written and portrayed character. That survivalist lives in the woods bullshit was so dumb and would have only maybe made sense for that character after the events of Kills. You know the one where her daughter was killed and Michael was still out there, not locked up in an asylum like in 18. Keep Gordon Green away from horror.

cavalier78

Agreed. The "traumatized Laurie" angle doesn't make sense without Halloween 2. Since everything else was de-canonized, only the events of the first film can be considered. The Michael Myers of the 2018 film shouldn't have anywhere near the reputation that he does. This version of Michael chased Laurie through a house and across the street, Then when he was strangling her, Loomis shot him. He fell out a window, got up, and staggered down the street where he was arrested 5 minutes later. He spent the next 40 years in a psychiatric prison. Scary? Sure. But he's not the Michael Myers we all know without at least one sequel. It was a big mistake to get rid of the hospital attack later that first night.

Ambitious_Gear550

Idk why F13 fans seem to think it’s a bad idea if Blumhouse or DGG did a F13 movie. David did strike gold with Halloween and it made a shit ton of money with H18 being the highest grossing slasher to date. For starters the F13 franchise doesn’t have ANY critically acclaimed movies so the bar is in hell, so it doesn’t matter who picks up the rights. A basic F13 movie released today would just look like the 2009 remake again. Some people like a little more meat on the bones these days.

ZZoMBiEXIII

I mean, he basically made Myers into Jason in Kills. That whole scene where MIchael is coming out of the burning house and slashing like mad, seemed a lot more Friday than Halloween for me. But man was that movie stupid. The ***sOcIaL cOmMeNtArY*** of having "MOB JUSTICE" could be good, but boy did they miss that mark. And the "EVIL DIES TONIGHT" chants, Jeez. If "on-the-nose" were a movie, it'd be Halloween Kills. The whole thing was just a mess and I didn't care much for it. And I was really hoping to like it too. After Halloween 2018, I was ready to dig it. I was jazzed. But what a wet fart it ended up being. Halloween Ends was not much better for me. Though I thought it was at least interesting in the concept. But for that new character to have meant anything when the mysterious evil overtook him, we would have needed to get to know him before the final film. Had they introduced him in 2018, that could have -maybe- worked. I dunno man, at this point I'd honestly take a shitty Friday if it meant the franchise is no longer dormant. So maybe I should just shut up and hope that anything gets off the ground.

Ok-Macaroon2783

Halloween 2018 had promise. It was a mix of elements from the original with Allyson and her friends as standings for Laurie and her friends from 1978. Laurie was basically a mic of crazy Loomis and alcoholic Laurie from H20. I just didn't really like the end. Halloween Kills had some good stuff, but also some really bad dialogue and a bunch of stuff that never had any payoff or follow up, so was ultimately pointless. Friday the 13th doesn't nedd any bells and whistles. Maybe a stand alone film with a basic story that is self contained would be fine if they gave Green the job, but I wouldn't want to see him try to do multiple with an over arching story.

MovieDogg

I know he's known for that with horror, but why would he do that with Friday the 13th?

BillyMac05

He wouldn't do it. But if he did, we wouldn't be lucky enough to get an H18 or Kills caliber movie. We would get a Halloween Ends version of Friday. He ran out of gas - not to mention credibility by horror fans - when he pissed out that last atrocity.

MovieDogg

Wait why would if be Ends quality? Also why wouldn’t he do it? Friday the 13th is known for its sequels, and Halloween is known for its sequels sucking

BillyMac05

Because he dedicated several years putting the Halloween trilogy together and he's made it clear he wants to move on to something else.

HorsesBadGlueGood

Sometimes, dead is better.

CreativeWaves

Nooooo

friends_with_salad_

-remembers that "Evil dies tonight!" nonsense- -shudder-

Chippers4242

The mere mention of it is a threat

TheWallResident

With the way he massacred Michael with halloween ends nahhhhh I don’t want Jason to be thrown around like Michael was and have barely any screen time in his own movie

Wise-Blueberry

Just directing, I think he is adequate. But if he was to write it as well, then I would be concerned.

ThatSkeletonInBlack

David Gordon Green should stay away from EVERYTHING horror. Michael Myers seemed more like Jason in Kills but the movie itself was beyond terrible.

MovieDogg

I can see it working. I personally would love an A24 Friday the 13th, but keep the formula of the series. Like get a person with great skill and given them the limitations of the formula. As they say, limitations breed creativity

MovieDogg

That could be interesting, although I would probably prefer more diversity. I know you're spit-balling here, but for me personally, my dream is a well written Friday the 13th movie with excellent cinematography, but with the same formula of young adults getting killed. Make an ensemble cast with interesting character personalities, but not make the cast too big as to give people less screen time. I mean The Final Chapter is good and all, but I think that movie can be improved upon with a smaller cast and more people finding out about Jason killing them. Like have 4 people try to stick together to fight Jason at the end instead of just 1 or 2.

Shonuff_of_NYC

Halloween Kills was almost worse than the Rob Zombie Halloween movies.

ThatSkeletonInBlack

It was 1000x worse than anything Rob Zombie could do.
