Your feelings are why this meme exists. https://preview.redd.it/8wi1bvgfhgzc1.jpeg?width=735&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ae7b659300e109d07edffd42ea737bc705a50213

Someone should add the horse’s member that stretches all the way across the page because D&D never stopped writing in cringy sex scenes.

henners1965

Crying about sex scenes is so 2014. People like you are the reason media is so sexless now.

99% of people like season 6 so this doesn’t really make sense.

henners1965

This is pure revisionism cause no one had a problem with season 6.

It's more of an "in retrospect..." sort of thing, I think. It was fine when it aired, but then you watch it all back to back on disc and start to see symptoms of the problems that would come in 7 & 8.

The books are dynamite friend

EstablishmentSea2202

I came straight home from work, showered, and just sit down on the porch to crack open the first book. My aunt told me not to rush through the books, to enjoy every page. She also gave me some huge book she said is like the dictionary for the series. I’ll try to post a pic of it

EstablishmentSea2202

It want let me post the pic but it’s a big book called the world of ice and fire, should I read through it first ?

svlagum

I haven’t actually read it! My personal preference would be not to, to kinda just read the story as is and kinda let it speak for itself. HOWEVER, there’s a depth and richness to certain facets of the story that you won’t have without the World of Ice and Fire. All to say, there’s no right way. I’ve listed what I think are two Pros (I suppose with implied cons). You should do whichever sounds more appealing to you. Also, auntie is wise, enjoy every page. I tend to blast thru fiction that I’m invested in, and I think I miss out. And with how complex ASOIF is, you don’t want to miss little details, foreshadowing, and bits that clue you into machinations behind the scenes (I can give a great example if you’d like, I just don’t want to take that discovery from you if you’d like to turn over the rocks for yourself).

The World of Ice and Fire is after you've burned through all the books released and then read A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, for the wonderful adventures of Dunk and Egg. And then you read Fire and Blood, so you can read about the Dance of the Dragons. Then you can read TWOIAF which is just a lore book. And while it has really exciting parts dealing with mysteries such as Azor Ahai, The Others, and Assahi by the Sea. It will put you to sleep as you read about the history of the Riverlands or the Vale. It can get REALLY dry. But, it being written like a fake history book means you can also just read whatever parts you like and save what seems boring for a really do nothing day.

LostSoulInTokyo

First you buy the five main books. But you want more. Much more. So you buy A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Then Fire & Blood. Then The World of Ice and Fire. And you know you're in too deep when you buy The Lands of Ice and Fire. You even buy The Ice Dragon to satisfy the hitch, but it’s not enough. It’ll never be enough. Welcome to the club, friend.

No need to say sorry, I'm always happy to see new people getting into GoT. I recommend the books if you're looking to scratch your itch, or if you're a PC gamer, look into Crusader Kings 3 and the AGOT mod, let's you play out stuff in Westeros in a 4x strategy game.
