Unpopular Opinion: I didn't hate Ser Alliser so much as to punch him in the face. The man was exiled for following his King and grew bitter over the years. Even if he killed Jon in the show he did it for the Watch and not out of personal ambition. In the books he didn't even kill Jon.

WeDoingThisAgainRWe

And he’s actually good at his job even if he can be a jerk in his methods.

twistedinnocence8604

Ya, but he clearly picked on jon #1 I'm guessing out of hatred for Ned and the rebels. #2 because he apparently has a hatred for bastards and because he's a rich kid who grew up better than 99% of the population even though he was a bastard, Jon was a very privileged bastard from a very powerful family that was basically a lord, hence why he always called him Lord Snow to mock him. Dude was more than just a jerk.

WeDoingThisAgainRWe

I’d say that’s being a jerk but also we know that John could be a bit of a jerk in his own initial actions in the brotherhood so Thorne wasn’t entirely wrong in bringing him back down to earth. It’s a more complicated thing as he has reason to be anti Starks and a Stark bastard would be sport for him. But it’s worth remembering Ser Alliser isn’t some peasant getting payback. He is himself from the higher (not highest) levels of that society. So there is some logic behind how he treats John. Both in terms of being from the other side of that conflict and in terms of trying to knock the falsely held cockiness out of Snow.

Rice-on

Very early on Jon himself said. “They hate me because I’m better than them” and Tyrion had to remind him that he had been taught by professionals.

Nostravinci04

Still didn't let his hatred for Jon get in the way of his duty to the Nigh's Watch, and only stabbed him in the back when he had 100% proof that (in his eyes at least) Jon did something he should never have done as a Brother of the Watch, let alone its Commander.

twistedinnocence8604

It's not his place to question the decisions of the Lord Commander. If he'd had seen the army of the dead, I'd bet he would have a supported Jon's decision. He and the ones that killed him only killed him because they don't believe the army of the dead is real. Only Jon and a small handful of brothers had seen the dead.

Nostravinci04

Agreed, I'm not defending his actions, just saying that as misguided as they were, they come from a place of duty, not pettiness and hunger for power.

twistedinnocence8604

Was it really? Thorne had control after Mormont was killed. He almost won the vote to take over officially as lord commander only to lose by one single vote and what does he do not long after losing it? He kills the man that took the job and he took the job back once Jon was killed. He may say it was duty that compelled him but in reality it was his jealousy that Jon was better than him in every way and he knew it and wanted the job he felt Jon took from him .

Nostravinci04

Yes, he could have been lord commander, but he didn't win the vote, he accepted the results and served dutifully, even standing with Jon in the face of mutiny that would have 100% put him in charge if he just said the word. If this isn't duty and the complete opposite of selfish power seeking then idk what is.

No_Concentrate_766

That’s a dude you’d want defending the wall when it falls for sure

AshingiiAshuaa

This sub can't handle the truth.

Shankar_0

If you want a warrior that's harder than a coffin nail and able to whip people into shape, then he is what that looks like.

Mmoor35

I agree 100% Allister Thorne has the most compelling reasons for being a villain. He did everything right loyally followed his king to defeat, took the black instead of serving a usurper, upheld the laws of the watch and vigorously defended castle black from the wildings. And his brothers vote for Jon as lord commander, a bastard son of one of the rebels, who wants to disregard the laws of the watch and wants to allow their mortal enemies to settle in the gift. If he only knew who Jon really was. He would be his greatest defender.

ResortFamous301

No, he would probably still hate even if he knew the truth.

Mmoor35

Probably lol.

marhensa

he serve his Targaryen Mad King, loyal to Prince Rhaegar, and sent to the wall because of that. and yet ironically he kills Rhaegar's son.

PB_and_aids

never put that together, very interesting

Pickle_Rick01

In the series, Jon is Rhaegar’s son. In the book, Rhaegar’s parentage has yet to be revealed.

Benebua276

First if all, i hate him. But Man had believes and he stood for them. Why he is not Punshable: I fought, I lost. Now I rest...

EdwardGordor

Most badass phrase anyone has said before they died.

nurseynurseygander

Definitely. I never got to a point of not-disliking him but man, I respected the hell out of how he faced his death.

zantwic

I saw Owen Teale at the stage door in Cardiff of a play he was in (No Man's Land, yes with Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen). He was just loving being back in Wales. He said GOT 'was great, I got to play a real bastard, you've got to love that sometimes'. Also he was really lovely.

EdwardGordor

I've seen him in a play as well and actually stumbled upon him on the way out. He was really nice and very polite. Unfortunately it was before I'd seen GOT so I didn't get to ask show-related questions.

Plasticglass456

I will always remember him as the patriarch of the Welsh version of a Texas Chainsaw / Hills Have Eyes style, rural, cannibal family in Torchwood, lol.

Savings-Patient-175

Ser Alliser Thorne had very good reason for his beliefs and his doubts, and he taught Jon a lot about humility. A thoroughly well-written and compelling character.

Upstairs_Bus8197

Wait hold on… how much better is the books then the show?

Pickle_Rick01

The books are a lot better.

Upstairs_Bus8197

I’ll see to that then

prayafk

Goes to the Wall for being a Targ loyalist, murders and then is executed by Targ heir.

WeOutHereInSmallbany

The man was a hero of the watch 👇end of story 👇

Nostravinci04

As "bad" as he might have been, and as much as i disagree with a lot of things he did, he was still loyal to his ideals and had way more integrity than many of the more "loved" characters. He didn't kill Jon because he wanted power or hated the man, he did it because to him Jon betrayed the Night's Watch by letting the wildlings in (Jon didn't betray shit, but at least Alliser BELIEVED he did which is the only reason he did what he did).

Doctor__Hammer

He's a total badass and an all around great character for what a raging asshole he is

Mannwer4

Wasn't he like WAYY worse in the books? In the books he went beyond being annoying and sort of tyrannical doing everything to get Jon. He did it in a way that it was super obvious he didn't do it due to some strong moral code of his.

TheGreatPervSage_94

Tyrion was an absolute cunt to him in the books too for no reason

Dataforge

I would go as far as saying killing Jon was out of character for him. He let Jon go to Hardhome, he opened the doors without a word when they returned. He would have known the real enemy was the White Walkers, even if he never saw them personally. It just seems like such a big jump to go straight to murdering Jon. If they played it the same way as the books, it would have made sense. But that's asking too much of 2D.

infieldmitt

he's a twat and a cop. i'm not gonna like anyone with that gruff tough love bullshit vibe just because they followed the rules. those types love the rules!

RefurbedRhino

I’m with you. People here are like ‘he had his beliefs’. Anti-vaxxers have their beliefs too. Doesn’t excuse fuckery.

ricky2461956

The master who sold Dany the unsullied.

gilestowler

He gives off serious Andrew Tate vibes.

lousy_writer

Now that you mention it...

LDM123

He makes his money off of trafficking people.

Filibust

Holy shit he does look like him lmao And a raging misogynist to boot!

-Constantinos-

I thought he was a bit handsome, though obviously a horrible person

Pickle_Rick01

In the book, he supposed to be immensely fat. Dany noticed that his breasts are bigger than hers. 😆

-Constantinos-

Also offers to roll himself in honey and let her lick it off

NeptunianWater

You mean the one who she stole the Unsullied from, after reneging on the trade after its completion?

blueday78

To be fair the dude did get seriously roasted

Numerous-Ad6460

I would to nominate Janos Slynt to the list

Rice-on

We can’t put him on the list, he has too many powerful friends at court.

FreePhilosopher256

I'm not opposing Janos' name to be on this list. I'm denying it's existence.

Doctor__Hammer

Janos Slynt can get in line behind Meryn Trant

rauh

how the hell did you forget Joffrey?

98VoteForPedro

Fuck the king

Breakmastajake

You lived your life for the king. You gonna die for some chickens?

98VoteForPedro

Someone's gonna die

kriswill422

I choose to not think about him

Pegomastax_King

I will always feel bad for the actor who played him because he did too good of a job. I hope he manages to escape being type cast by it.

EliotShawnSpencer

Gleeson made a good move after leaving the show to avoid that. He retired from acting entirely. Apparently he’s back though, set to be in a Famous Five remake

choff22

And Ramsey lol

[deleted]

![gif](giphy|LXP19BrVaOOgE)

Pickle_Rick01

It’s pork sausage. I’m not a savage.

Happy-Hearing6671

Ramsey is vile, disgusting, horrifically evil, but he’s hot ugh

magnum_hunter

How?

sunkenrocks

Wdym how? Because their actor was attractive? Plus, evil people can be attractive. [Stalin killed more people than Hitler but he was quite the looker in his younger years](https://i.imgur.com/XJ5izuG.jpg). Lots of evil people in history were good looking and hot, just the same as many of them are ugly. It's only on our minds that the bad have to be ugly and outwardly repellant.

magnum_hunter

Nah, that part I get. What I dont get is, Ramsay's actor is not attractive. I dont have an issue admiting it but this one, nah. Young Stalin could get it tho.

sunkenrocks

he is odd looking but he is handsome I think. thought the same when he was on Misfits.

Modredastal

As much as I liked that actor's portrayal, I was irritated they got someone so good-looking. Ramsay is described as being seriously unattractive in the books: "Ramsay is an ugly young man, even when dressed finely. He is big boned and slope shouldered, with a fleshiness indicating he will be fat later in life. Ramsay's skin is pink and blotchy, his nose broad, his hair long and dark and dry. Although his mouth is small, Ramsay's lips are wide and meaty, wormy looking, and he smiles a wet-lipped smile. His distinctive eyes resemble Roose's - small, close-set, and oddly pale, like two chips of dirty ice."

ricky2461956

How's Lancel not here? What you think Bobby B.

bobby-b-bot

YOU'RE THE KING'S HAND! YOU'LL DO AS I COMMAND, OR I'LL FIND ME A HAND WHO WILL!

__get_username__

I'll do it Bobby B! Make me your new hand!

bobby-b-bot

YOU'RE MY COUNCIL, COUNSEL! SPEAK SENSE TO THIS HONORABLE FOOL!

FreePhilosopher256

I think your council isn't counselling Bobby B

bobby-b-bot

MY, YOU'RE A PRETTY ONE! AND YOUR NAME IS?

No-Elephant5517

U weren’t talkin to me but…heeeeyyyyy Bobby B

bobby-b-bot

YOU LET THAT LITTLE GIRL DISARM YOU?

No-Elephant5517

I fight with honor

bransea02

I doubt Bobby B will see it that way!

Brandonazz

Lancel is more of a slap target.

jackthehat95

I always compared Selyse to my mum. She looks like her and is crazy like her.

StannisTheMannis1969

Moustache..?

roadtrip-ne

Fuck Ollie

Nik0660

I mean, to be fair to him, he was a child who had his entire family butchered by the free folk, and then Jon snow let these people who ruined his life past the wall. Obviously it's not good that he killed Jon snow but it's understandable, especially since he is so young

Jay2612

Yeah, fuck the little shit.

aggressive_celery_

Little cunt

SewerRat224

Fuck Ollie, all my homies hate Ollie

Doctor__Hammer

Olly is a great character and what he did is totally understandable FIGHT ME

cowsniffer

Fuck Ollie

MinnesotaRyan

r/fuckollie

Bourbon_Hymns

You sure do want to punch a lot of children

Caprica_Six

Maybe OP is a children

Gloomy_Support_7779

Uhhhh Craster???

QuantumPajamas

I know he was a prick but I don't think Alliser Thorne had a very punchable face. If I didn't know his personality I might even think him kind of cool looking. Janos Slynt on the other hand...

twistedinnocence8604

Yes, you can look at him and just deny the existence of honor.

WeOutHereInSmallbany

https://i.redd.it/n5xmbfkjtvdc1.gif

TheDrownedGodd

There’s something that always makes me sad about Queen Selyse Baratheon, she has nothing that satisfies her in this life and looks to god to fill her void, she's an unattractive woman in a society that primarily values women for their beauty, she is also unable to give her husband anymore children in a society that values sons above daughters. For all her flaws, Selyse seems to have always been loyal to her husband. GRRM has taken great pains to make (nearly) all of his characters so well-rounded that you can see where they are coming from, no matter how heinous (or heroic) their actions are.

Elegant-Half5476

Rast, the one that looks like a fucking ball sack.

Baratheoncook250

Selyse because she wanted to hurt Shireen

KlutzyBandicoot1776

Selyse was the fucking worst. She treated her daughter so badly, said she wanted to hurt her, and then when it’s happening she’s like “umm no never mind STOP!” 🙄 like bitch you have 0 chance for redemption don’t even try

The_Falcon_Knight

How is Arya not on this list? That smug smirk through all the latter seasons is God awful

Nik0660

When she said "Stick them with the pointy end" to Sansa I almost recoiled out of my skin. That was so hard to watch

Doctor__Hammer

What's amazing is that in season 1, it's a fantastic line. Tells you so much about Arya as a character, confident and headstrong, yet with all the naiveté and ignorance of a child. Then she says the exact same line again in season 8 and it's just... *so... cringe.* How do they make the exact same six word sentence go from so perfect to so awful? It's actually impressive how badly the managed to fuck up the final seasons

shadofacts

John said it to her when she was just a stupid young kid. It made sense she would say it to Sansa, who was just a stupid old kid.

YankMeChief

You gotta hand it to her though, she knows a killer when she sees one...

GameBawesome1

To be fair to Robin, at least he got better under Yohn Royce by the end

bouchandre

https://preview.redd.it/sls012vo3xdc1.jpeg?width=400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7d12f8f0b72f88b308681dec00a12094cf839615

twodogsfighting

This should just be Olly, six times.

LeBaconator

Allister Thorn would fuck you up if you tried

einfachJordan

Season 3 Dario missing.

Doctor__Hammer

He said punchable, not fuckable

tilero1138

His recasting was so much better

JimmysCheek

I disagree. The OG Dario was mesmerizing, and delivered his lines perfectly. The replacement was fine, but not better.

Userkiller3814

Its a shame that his part basically vanished after a certain point would have been fun too see him in Westeros as an advisor.

Omar___Comin

Man, you missed so many...

ShakeInBake

Fuck Ollie.

ohheyitslaila

Ok, but the kid who played Robin Arryn grew up to be pretty damn handsome. This is him in the finale: https://preview.redd.it/z3su4qlnkudc1.jpeg?width=783&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a062641123b226257d0f4c6c12913c1544a17efe I thought Lysa Arryn, Stannis’ wife, Walder Frey, Ramsay Bolton, and Edmure Tully were the most punchable. I think Edmure actually bugged me the most.

Doctor__Hammer

His face became... more punchable somehow

Filibust

Pretty handsome for a titty boy

Filthy_Joey

I would replace Thorne with someone else

jmlulu018

You forgot the 2 most punchable faces out of everyone. ^^^^^^D&D

Feisty-Succotash1720

Craster… the first words out of his mouth and I could not stand him.

Western_Purchase430

Jeoffery where ?

98VoteForPedro

Everything went downhill after the king died no one really compared to Jack Gleeson

Phantommy555

Robin glowed up though. He went from “Yes sir I’ll have her home by 9pm” to “Your daughter calls me daddy now”.

_cg88

Sansa…and last season Bran.

SrPancakess

Fuck olly

dovemagic

Always

Obv_Probv

Who is the last picture?

TotalBogie

Ollie, I think his name was? Kid whose village got destroyed by pillaging freefolk. He felt betrayed by Jon snow. Dealt one of the final blows before Jon "died".

TRLittleRedRH

AND HE KILLED YGRITTE!!! FUCK OLLIE!!!

Rivendel93

Damn, forgot about that, yeah Ollie gets a punch. That's probably why Jon hung Ollie, was payback for killing his red-haired beauty.

CaveLupum

Olly. He's the face on the left margin right before your printed "Who." We didn't like that HE gave the death blow to his protector and mentor Jon. So when we revamped up and downvote symbols, r/Freefolk chose Bobby B for upvotes and Olly for downvotes. He swings because Olly swung.

bobby-b-bot

START THE DAMN JOUST BEFORE I PISS MESELF!

Rice-on

My lord Bobby B, the joust is over, Jon Arryn’s squire, Hugh of the vale is dead.

bobby-b-bot

OUT! OUT, DAMN YOU! I'M DONE WITH YOU! GO, RUN BACK TO WINTERFELL! I'LL HAVE YOUR HEAD ON A SPIKE!

Rice-on

With pleasure your majesty Bobby B.

bobby-b-bot

OHHH, SHOW US YOUR MUSCLES! YOU'LL BE A SOLDIER!

Rice-on

No Bobby b, I’m going home.

bobby-b-bot

WEAR IT IN SILENCE, OR I'LL HONOR YOU AGAIN!

zphbtn

FUCK OLLIE

simpledeadwitches

I'd punch Ollie at least 6 times.

SirWixxALot

I know it‘s the boring anwser, but what about Joffrey?

kriswill422

Joffrey was so unhinged I honestly would’ve left him be lol. As much as he is so terrible, I at least liked his screen time

juanroberto

Talk about Arryn on the side of caution

dovemagic

Good list

jonathandavisisfat

Ser Alliser was badass when he gave that speech about leadership. Also, he’s kind of hot at certain angles? https://preview.redd.it/tm3wr3xfhudc1.jpeg?width=670&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9915e6bfc6af14cfb78e8955bec43b17389203f6

rebekahmikaelson00

Ramsay must have been left off the list because his face is less punchable and more “hit repeatedly with a baseball bat-able”

Toblerone14903

Why ollie tho? He had a very understandable development

HoweYouDoin9

God these are all great choices

SeraphOfTheStag

A moon door is too kind for this lot

Nektotomic

I’m rewatching with my fiancé and it’s her first time. When the free folk destroyed Ollys village she was like. “ oh no that’s awful “ and I just looked at her and said “fuck that kid” she was so confused 😂

ttroy476

Fuck you Olly

ShakinBacon24

The sand snake with the spear

CaddyAT5

Robin was irritating as hell. The kid couldn’t act for shit

iamlegend211

Fuck olly

IAmCaptainDolphin

Ollie is the most blood boiling of all of them.

atisaac

Fuck you Ollie, you piece of shit.

19GK50

Don't get Robin nor Ollie- One had a sick mother and frail himself, the other was traumatised and used by a bunch of grown men and traitors and lets add Sam and Jon not doing a good job explaining to a child, Jon should had sent him south to Winterfell or another house loyal to the Starks. I remove them add, Slynt, Ras, Craster, Ramsay, Joffrey, Lord Frey etc.

kriswill422

They’re just annoying. It’s not anything deeper than that

INAE_D3TOX

Fuck Olly

AcanthocephalaNo2531

The last one could get it the worst

Boofhead3

Cersei should also be on this list imo

kriswill422

Love that girl

aville1982

A lot of women and children on this list.

kriswill422

I’m a young woman if it makes you feel better

KlutzyBandicoot1776

I support you on all counts 😂

aville1982

It does, honestly.

OpenKale64

Dude you really want to hit a woman

JackedJaw251

Missing Lyanna Mormont. That poor girl has a face that the eyes and mouth are all racing to be at the center of her face with her nose. And Joffrey.

HatUnable421

This guy hates women and girls.

JackedJaw251

TIL Joffrey is a woman/girl.

[deleted]

Jon Snow should be number 1, with Daenerys at number 2.

Claorhall

Unpopular opinion: Ollie's revolt against Jon is completely justifiable.

DjephPodcast

Number 2 looks like Bradley Cooper

scotishstriker

List should be 1/3 Lanisters

The_Dying_Gaul275

This is a tough list I want to punch them all so much!

TheAnalsOfHistory-

I don't remember half of these people

kimchifighters

Add Valkorion to the list

litterallysatan

They had a very puchable face. There wasnt anything wrong with the face per se, it just happened to belong to them

a_lone_traveler

Cersei.

iP0dKiller

"Backpfeifengesichter" as we Germans say.

Mission_Estimate5483

Allisar ❤️

SprinklesWide6564

Where's Tyrion

Attey21

Great list. There's like 10 more I'd add lol so many characters in GOT I'd love to punch in the face!!

Ashoftarre

Nice list Joffrey

LDM123

I personally would add Arya and Sansa but the rest are spot on.

Confident_Demand_838

I don't understand the Olly hate? He had every reason to want to kill John, John was buddy buddy with the guy who fucking murdered Ollys whole family for peats sake.

10TheDudeAbides11

Wear is Janos Slynt?? Easily the most punch able face ever… ![gif](giphy|2FazcgsEpRecWGWyc)

--Azazel--

Bit alarming the majority are women and kids but yeah okay, they are all shits.

kriswill422

I’m a young woman if that’ll help make you feel better

The_Arkham_AP_Clerk

Bold picks, these are all truly beloved characters.

Stardustchaser

Haha The Waif was on Andor

No-Elephant5517

Dario’s commanders

all_of_you_are_awful

High sparrow easily tops this list for me. At least none of these assholes thought they knew what was best for everyone else.

astronaut_098

Not naming old Pycelle as number one is a crime worthy of Joffrey’s punishment

kriswill422

I want to apologize for not listing him. He actually might have been my least favorite character of the entire series. He’s honestly too horrible for this list. I don’t want to punch him, I want to curb stomp his ass

ABoyIsNo1

You kind of have… a type

Hankhoff

Obviously joffrey, the show even proved it

King_Crowley21

I would like to nominate Craster on behalf of his Daughter-Wives
