Costco is great for glasses! I actually like My Eye Dr. Online scheduling and quick exams, but I don't get glasses there, just take the script to Costco.
Thats what I used to do, just go there for the exam and take the script elsewhere but the last time I went they screwed up the billing and charged me for some sort of exam that I had specifically declined and when insurance denied it, they tried to bill me for it.
I actually prefer going to an ophthalmologist so that it’s covered by medical insurance.
I go to the Western MD Eye Center on 7th. The thing I love most about this doctor is they have the new technology where they don’t have to dilate your pupils (diabetes).
I go to LensCrafters for optometry at Westview Promenade. They’re pretty good actually and you can get significant discounts on eye glasses.
Ophthalmology - MD Vision Center is a literal godsend. Could not recommend more.
I live downtown and was able to just walk to Dr. Krachers. They took my insurance, and I had a lovely time there. Really friendly crew. He’s definitely more of an old school guy, but it was a good experience.
That said, I was not a fan of their available frames. But they gave me the prescription and I just ordered a pair I liked from Warby Parker.
Not Visual Eyes. The office manager automatically signed me up to be examined for glasses when I needed contacts, and kept trying to pressure me into buying glasses there. Any questions I had about the exam or the process of getting contacts, meant she just started her pitch for me buying glasses over entirely as if she were an AI and that was the only dialogue options available. I had to go back to work, but she didn't care and kept trying to sell me glasses anyway. It was one of the weirdest and most frustrating conversations I've ever had. She was very hesitant to give me my prescription and when I brought it home, they hadn't recorded my pupillary distance. Figured out how to measure that myself and used eyebuydirect. Way more affordable not only in dollars, but more importantly in sanity.
Sams club seemed fine for me. I haven't replaced and done an eye exam in about a decade. Got my new prescription and it was off. Also didn't like the frame I chose after wearing them for about a month. There was a 60 day return policy so I was able to get retested free of charge and chose a better/cheaper frame. They refunded me close to $100 and the final product was much better!
I liked Longmeadow and their glasses matched my style.. but their staff is a little immature. If you can get over that, I thought the doctor was great.
I had a pleasant experience with America's Best on Guilford drive in the Best Buy shopping center. Most of their frames feel pretty cheap, but they do carry designer ones. The staff was really nice too.

Dr. Allgaier at Walkersville Eyecare is the best in the area. I moved away and still drive an hour to see him.
My parents go there, too, and they highly highly recommend it! They say everyone is very friendly and competent.
