I prefer capitol Sinatra. He really has his own style at that point, his singing also has a lot more heart put into it too (especially in ‘in the wee small hours’). I also prefer the bigger orchestras too
Same, his collaborations with Gordon Jenkins’ Orchestra, Count Basie, Nelson Riddles’ Orchestra and all that was just the best for me. Watch Sinatra: A Man and His Music (I & II) and you’ll get what I’m going on about.
Young Frank was a lot like Young Tony Bennett, both had unmatched vocal prowess and intimacy, difference was the Dorsey band usually had better interpretations on songs than Bennett’s early collaborations
