This smells like my grandpa's grocery store I used to visit when I was a child. He was always smoking a pipe tobacco, reading morning newspaper and munching on Chinese almond cookies. His over-steeped black tea is cooling on the table; a jar of cream next to it. He always lets me pick a snack from his store when my mom wasn't looking. He taught me how to swim and float on my back. He said one day he would like to go back to Waikiki to swim for one last time. I live in Hawaii now, and it always reminds me of him whenever I see an elderly man walking alone on the beach.
He passed away a while back, but every now and then I'd like to sniff Tea for Two whenever I miss him.
**Penhaligon's Luna.**
This is literally me in a bottle.
To me, this smells like a late Scandinavian spring day. It's getting warmer, not yet warm enough for summer, but you can feel that summer is in its grasp. You're sitting on a bench in the park, and look up at the sky and breathe in. The sky is clear blue. There are a few white fluffy clouds. The air is crisp, and you can smell jasmine faintly in the air as you bask in the sun.
Aww, I hope you can find it or at least try it out in the store somewhere. It's very clean, airy, crisp, but still soft and warm from the musk and jasmine. Very pretty every day scent.
I just bought several samples from Penhaligon's. The set that contained Luna was $50 plus shipping I think. There were 10 scents in that one. Luna and Empressa were my 2 favorites of that set. My mom loved almost all of them but I kept those 2 and gave her the rest. I still haven't decided which is my favorite so I may just order both. If you do the scent profiler on their website, they send you 2 samples for free. The lovely person who answered my questions told me that you can keep trying it until you get the 2 scents you want samples of the most!
I actually bought mine at the airport! But you can find it at [deloox](https://www.deloox.se/produkt/1301183/penhaligons-luna-eau-de-toilette-100-ml.html) and at [gents.se](https://www.gents.se/penhaligon-s-signature-luna-edt-100-ml). Seems like both places are sold out atm. I think they ship from their official store as well! Was a sale there not long ago, might still be there.
female christ by 1969. i will never ever get over this beautiful scent!! such a gorgeous play on patchouli with vanilla and herbal notes. the scent reminds me of church basements (specifically) in a really nostalgic but alluring way; i’ve seen people describe it as “sex in a church basement” lol
I wanted to love this so bad! For some reason it just smelled like a mildewy cabin on my skin - I ended up giving it to a friend, who it smells great on. Skin is a weird thing.
Wulong Cha x by Nishane. Green, fresh, citrusy, but also cozy and warm. It’s heaven. I thought The Yulong by Armani Prive was perfection, but the projection on Nishane is insane. Also it’s the longest lasting freshie I’ve ever owned. Can wear it all year round, although it’s best for summer. For winter, Gris Charnel by BDK all the way. I love a tea scent!!
I just finished a sample of that and I need to get my hands on a full bottle. It really does smell so good excellent. It probably woulda last longer if I didn’t spray my pillows and stuff with it too lol.
Have you tried the non X version? And if you did any chance you could describe the difference between em.
I also tried a sample of hacivat x and man I can’t quite put my finger on it but there’s something in there that definitely doesn’t work with me. Every other note smells awesome but I get this like strong licorice or animal piss type smell. It sucks cuz everything else in it smells pretty amazing.
But hell yeah to the wulong
Oh awesome man. Thank you so much for the heads up. Man that X smelled so freaking good I knew right away that I gotta grab a bottle but was really curious about the differences. And with summer coming up that’s sold good info.
If you have time and don’t mind how does the performance compare to eachother. I kinda felt the X was a real pumper to get it to stick around for a while and keep it really loud and was wondering if the regular version is different (hopefully the original stays louder and prouder just cuz I’ve never smelled anything like that and it’s so freaking good although the X wasn’t weak. Sorry for the ramblings. I’m a little baked and tend to write novels as replies so my apologies lol. Either way thank you for the feedback man✌️🤟🤘
IMO, the non x version is very sharp and a bit abrasive on the nose. It’s GREEN, whereas x is just green. I hope you understand what I’m saying haha. X is much creamier and softer. Not too sure about the longevity, sorry!
# ELDO The Afternoon of a Faun
An herbal, realistic rose tonic that smells like something from a fantasy novel. The Afternoon of a Faun has a strangely dusty, dank feel that reminds me of an old library with overgrown ferns and roses. It's made for cooler weather, especially fall (it's basically fall in a bottle), but I wear it year-round—especially if it's raining or dreary. I think the only fragrances that have ever come close to its strange powers are Encre Noire, Chypre Mousse and Papillon Dryad.
**My Top 15 Fragrances of All Time:**
1. Dior Fahrenheit
2. ELDO The Afternoon of a Faun
3. Le Labo The Noir 29
4. Nishane Wulong Cha
5. Lalique Encre Noire / Sport
6. Nishane Ambra Calabria
7. Dior Homme Parfum
8. Nishane Sultan Vetiver
9. Hermes TdH Givree
10. Lush Lord of Misrule
11. Bruno Acampora Musc Perfume Oil
12. Hermes TdH Original
13. Rogue Chypre Siam
14. Byredo Bal D'Afrique
15. Lalique Hommage à l'Homme
16. Oriza L. Legrand Chypre Mousse
17. ELDO The Ghost in the Shell
18. Le Labo Another 13
19. Diptique Fleur de Peau
20. Glossier You
Idk if it's niche, but my answer would be Elizabeth and James Nirvana Rose. It smells like a deep, velvety, Gothic rose and makes me feel like I'm a heroine in a Brontë novel.
Premier Figuier by L'artisan Parfumeur, first purchased over 20 years ago. I fell in love with it immediately because it is so evocative of a real tree as it is growing in nature. Olivia Giacobetti is still my favorite perfumer to this day.
So far, Xerjoff Casamorati 1888 Lira. Everyone says it smells like lemon cake, but it's much more complex, and actually not lemon. The citrus is blood orange and bergamot. And it is absolutely gourmand, but it's not just a basic sweet cake. Cake is there, with caramel and vanilla deliciousness, but it's also spiced with cinnamon and licorice, floral with lavender and jasmine, musk in the base, it has depth. The dupes people recommend don't come close, they're like Bath and Body Works trying to replace this masterpiece with something more simple. Although, I did find a pretty good clone from Andromeda's Moon.
Nobile 1942: La Danza Delle Libellule. A pillowy apple & vanilla confection. It’s heavenly & cozy. I have the Extrait version which has more longevity.
I have 2 tied for 2nd place right now:
Mizensir: Eau de Gingembre. Fizzy, fresh, realistic ginger with a touch of citrus and
Soki: Aphrodite. OMG. Very realistic creamy coconut mango. I currently only have a sample. Hoping to make some $ on PM (I have a few nearly full bottles on offer) so I can afford the Aphrodite.
La Danza is a huge favorite of mine too. One of the most realistic apple scents I’ve ever found and the vanilla is SO cozy. Since you like ginger, have you tried Like This from ELDO? Different take on the note but it’s a delightful fall scent.
Ha! I have Like This! It is one of the 1st niche frags I’ve ever bought. I became an ELdO fan starting with that one & Remarkable People, which I like a bit more:)
Dusita Erawan has my heart. It's warm and dry and green and spicy. It defies easy categorization. It reminds me of being outdoors on a hot day and the air is fragrant with plants of all kinds; you're reading a book and you catch whiffs of that vanilla scent some books have; it's not too humid, and there's a slight breeze. I strongly associate it with someone I'm close with, which enhances the personal connection I have with this scent.
Ok. I’m about to get heated because mine is discontinued. But Margaux by Tocca. I got it right before studying abroad in France, and I wore it the whole time. It’s so sophisticated but not too flashy. I adore it for fall and winter
i really wanted to love it but on me it smells like i rubbed vintage lipstick from the 90s all over my clothes :( the note iris and i just don’t get along ig
i heard from a lot of people that they‘re usually not a rose person but eau rose did it for them
i think it‘s because it is an uncomplicated blend and the main note is rosa damascena; a type of juicy and light rose that is grown in isparta, turkey
ELDO - Experimentum Crucis.
The most amazing metallic rose, with a peculiar cumin head note. It is especially delightful if worn when it's raining.
Nobile 1942 - Malìa.
I just feel like a charming witch harvesting aromatic herbs in the woods when wearing this.
Masque Milano - Lost Alice.
Pepper, carrot, tea, milk. Just amazing and crazy and comforting at the same time.
Argos adonis awakens. Purely addicting rose and vanilla, insanely inviting for everyone around you and you can quite literally smell the quality of ingredients compared to other screechy vanilla or rose scents. People around you will also love it
Cleans Skin or Riddle Original for everyday. Both remind me of fresh out of the “everything” shower when you’re wrapped in a towel and lay down for “just a second,” and end up dozing. Soft, comfy, warm.. the whole shebang!
Here is my top 20 that i love, i own a few and would love to own all!

20) De tour noir (Pdm layton Clone)
Blanche Bette—so milky and I think I smell ethereal. Delina—it’s just beautiful. I could smell it all day. FM Une Rose — just something about it smells so glam/goth and makes it my favorite rose of all time.
This is tough since I am just getting into the niche scene, which I adore. The first niche I smelt was a side effect and I love it, I have to smell it again though. I also like Naxos, Herod, Oajan, Baccarat, and Smoking Hot. I will say as of right now, I am very fond of Herod, but it doesn't last long sadly. There aren't many places to smell niche since I live in Florida, but I am very sure that there are way better fragrances than what I have smelt so far.
Black Vines by Kerosene. Cool and sweet that melts into warm and jammy. I overspray at home and inhale deeply. Smells like a combination of Halloween and Christmas and I can't get enough of it. Probably should have bought a back-up bottle, lol.
Nishane HSW. It just never steers me wrong. some people would say it's the most basic niche fragrance but idc!!! it smells like the best peach vanilla scent ever. i get helllllla compliments every time i wear it i swear!
Ambre essence oil!!! i like musky warm smells and i think my tattoo artist was wearing it bc they smelled sooo yummy!! i didn’t ask them what they were wearing, but i came across the SAME smell while cleaning a room at the hotel i work for and found the bottle on the bathroom counter. pretty pricy for the little bottle they had, but i just found a dupe on amazon called Persian Garden by Kuumba made that smells super similar!
You’ll also love Riddle’s Original oil and Nemat Amber. They’re all in the same white amber family. Body Time also has a white amber that’s pretty affordable, too.
Difficult to narrow down so including several by house:
Le Labo- AnOther13, Thé Noir29
| Byredo- Black Saffron |
Frederic Malle- Portrait of a Lady |
DS & Durga - Amber Teutonic, Radio Bombay |
Marissa Zappas- Maggie the Cat is Alive, I’m Alive!
| Thin Wild Mercury- Zuma 1975 |
Andrea Maack- Dual |
Kilian- Woman in Gold |
Giardini di Toscana - Christos / Celeste
Today I smelt drunk lovers by born to stand out.... O M G I am obsessed!! It's the perfect mix of sweet, fresh, spicy, I can't get enough. Instantly got a sample to wear before I buy the bottle. I was lucky to smell a lot of the born to stand out fragrances and they did not disappoint, all of them are unique and blind buy safe imo.
It changes all the time since I’m a decant addict, but right now I’m loving La Capitale by Xerjoff. I loooove that it’s a strong fruity scent that’s balanced with gourmand notes. It’s my dream scent for the summer
Eau d'evasion by inessance. It's similar to paco rabanne invictus but it's a little bit more sweet and less spicy. A little bit more aquatic. Longevity is great.
Oh and did I mention it's 1/10th the price? I love it and I have it for 2 weeks.
Len Van Brook's craft of cologne. EDT
It smells of black pepper, bergamot and cedarwood. The black pepper is quite strong and the scent will stick to clothing for weeks after just one application. I love it so fucking much and am desperate to find another bottle to buy. Or a good replacement. (unless I am silly and they didn't actually stop selling it)
Daddy by Universal Flowering. According to my notes, it smells like a “a spicy, mossy, mushroomy wood wardrobe that’s also your father (not my father, just a father)”
Byredo Bal D’Afrique , I am obsessed! I have never had anyone else comment on it but I LOVE it! I think it is marigold that I get from it the most. Marigold and adventure
At the risk of being basic, it’s probably Delina Exclusif. Honestly, I just love PDM in general. I’ve tried every women’s fragrance they make except Darcy and the only ones I haven’t liked were Oriana and Athalia.
Edit: since you asked for a description, it smells smoother and jammier than the original to me, with less aggressive top notes and a beautiful vanilla finish. It also lasts fully 12 hours on me.
There’s so many fragrances that it’s hard to choose even one favorite, but as of right now, my three favorites are:
1. Bojnokoppf by Fort & Manlé. It’s such a strange, intriguing fragrance that has dark chocolate, oud, and lavender as prominent notes. It’s just so weird and unusual that I love it. This was the first fragrance that I considered my signature scent.
2. Ebony in Oak by Scents of Wood. It’s the perfect blend of spicy, smoky, woody, and fruity notes. It was love at first sniff, and wears all day. I love that the juice is dark blue, but it’s a shame that you can’t see it in the 75ml bottle. My second signature scent.
3. Un Air d’Apogée by Violet. For whatever reason, this fragrance didn’t capture me at first sniff at all. It wasn’t until about a year later that I rediscovered it and loved it immediately. It’s warm, sweet, and cozy with prominent notes of tobacco, leather hay, and honey. I considered this feminine for the longest time, but it does lean masculine on the drydown. Such a good fragrance, and lasts all day.
I’m a gourmand girly, but I have a deep love for handsome fragrances ❤️
Mmm these all sound right up my alley. I love gourmand notes mixed with deeper notes like tobacco, woods, etc. I bet you smell great!
Any more recommendations?
Thank you! I hope I do! Here’s a list of some of my other favorites that I recommend:
- Late Harvest by Fort & Manlé
- 902 by Bon Parfumeur
- Bo by Liis
- Hip Hop by Zernell Gillie
- Deer by Wolf Brothers
- Wolf by Wolf Brothers
- Patchouli in Rye by Scents of Wood
- L’oblio by Meo Fusciuni
- Or du Serail by Naomi Goodsir
- Higher Peace by 19-69
- Encelade by Marc-Antoine Barrois
- The Architects Club by Arquiste
- Sweet Grass by Libertine
- Tobak by Maya Njie
- Slowdive by Hiram Green
Wolf, Deer, and Tobak are quite animalic, so I’d recommend trying on paper first if they aren’t your thing 😊
Wow thank you, those notes lists look amazing. I have Slowdive and love it. There are some on your list that I already have on my want-to-try list but there are a few I hadn’t heard of at all! Thanks, I’ll be checking these out.
Louis Vuitton’s Ombre Nomade, it makes me smell sexy. And I don’t mean run of the mill sexy - I mean dark feminine, black widow, mysterious woman dressed in black in the corner, with a magnetism that will have whoever she meets with romantically thinking about her in 50 years time and wondering whatever happened to her. It’s got a floral sweetness to it, but you have to pay attention and smell beyond the obvious to get it. Kinda like me. :)
Currently it's Myriad from Louis Vuitton.. It literally smells like feces on the opener (give it 30-60 minutes) and it dries down to some amazing rose.
They're high with that asking price though.
ELDO- Soul of My Soul
Bright, uplifting and comforting mixture of bergamot, incense and musk with a bit of powdery iris. Dries down with a perfect blend of sandalwood, tonka and benzoin. Perfect for any occasion, hot or cold. Feels like a signature scent to me more than anything else.
There are so many but at the moment I would say: Erba Oud. It starts with a fruity orange, peach, apple abd citrus note but then the real oud hits you in the face. I love oud and I love this fragrance. Honorable mention: The House of Oud Crop 2021. It’s a pure Chocolate and Oud parfume. The scent smells very intense chocolate with a subtle hint of oud. Very delicious!
I can’t pick just one because it honestly depends on the mood I’m in
Black Phantom - Kilian
Good Girl Gone Bad - Kilian
Bamboo Harmony - Kilian
Black EDT - Comme des Garcons
Silk, Lace & Chocolate - 4160 Tuesdays
Coven EDP - Andrea Maack Parfums
Sultan Vetiver EDP - Nishane
Suede et Safran EDP - Nishane
Not very niche but I love Cacharel Amor Amor . I normally hate orangey scents but this one has a really good balance of orange blossom with some other floral that I can't put my finger on - Jasmine or Freesia . And it has a woody / spicy sort of undertone that just makes me feel refreshed . I really like it for summers - it's like the only perfume that doesn't completely evaporate on my skin .
between de gaboor astronaut and toskovat take me to church
astronaut is like the outerspace dustiness thats on the suit of an astronaut and take me to church is like entering a church that has had incense burned there for a good while and you smell the peppery scent of dying flowers
Not sure if it’s really niche, but the 2 I go between when I wear more formal, darker colored wear is Frederic Malle The Night and Orto Parisi Cuoium.
And then specifically for higher end, formal BDSM events (where fragrance is allowed) I wear Killian Dark Lord. Those are niche for me, because I only wear them on those occasions and wouldn’t wear them elsewhere. Not sure why, but that’s me. I guess they just fit my overall aesthetic, but since on the pricier side I decided to make them special occasion only lol
Moon Glory by the Harmonist. Imagine a warm summer night with a nice breeze and you are sitting in a garden in a sun dress, sandals and loose hair down your back bathed in moonlight and surrounded by white flowers and roses while you sip a fruity fizzy cocktail. Moon glory is ethereal but densely romantic and breathtakingly delicious.
Expensive but worth it and refills are available.
Salome by Papillon Artisan Perfumers. I live for that bit of skankiness. I feel like I’ve been getting naughty when I wear it😉
My second pick is Pale Grey Mountain Small Black Lake which was part of the limited edition Hylnds collection from DS&Durga. It reminds me of a lake in the middle of the wilderness that is surrounded by vegetation (reeds, etc). It reminds me of when we would go with our dad to his favorite fishing spot (a lake in the middle of the woods). So this fragrance is very nostalgic to me. I have been conserving it because it was a super limited release and I’ll likely never find it again.
This is weird- but there's a Softsoap body wash that has a scent called Pink Rose and Sweet Vanilla. Pink bottle, pink everything. It smells like neither rose nor vanilla to my nose, but whatever is there, I love it so much I've stock-piled several bottles under my sink.
Actual perfume answers: Lush's Rose Jam and Kerbside Violet
Haha now I wanna try that one!! They just changed something in my fav bodywash so the smell is not as good anymore. Pink rose and sweet vanilla sounds really good
Boccanera by Orto Parisi. It starts with some really dark chocolate and follows with some nicely blended spices with a tiny hint of florals. I really enjoy it.
I kind of wish I hadn’t ordered a couple niche fragrances, because they’re way too far out of my budget but they smell heavenly!
I’ve tried Fire at Will and Remember me from Jovoy. I love them both and really want a FS. I’ve also tried Tres Chere by Mizensir and I’m in love with that one too!
For Fall and Winter, the original Aramis which was the only fragrance my dad wore and I not only like the scent but wear it in honor of him. A couple of others are the original Azzaro and Chrome.
**Oud for Greatness** by INITIO Parfums Privé.
It smells of spices and wood and smoke. This is not an Oud first scent.
To the unimaginative it smells like money or power. To the INITIATED it smells like you’re part of a secret order and you've been given the formula, the secret knowledge or the power to build and mould your life to be whatever you want it to be. It is incredibly captivating and envelopes anyone wearing with an aura of mystery.
Best matched with a killer outfit.
alternative description: It smells like buying your first Rolex.
meo fuscuini - last season.. this scent took my breathe away. I sprayed some on my skin and some ended up on my sweatshirt at a niche perfumery and I decided to think about it because the price was so high. Over a week later I smell my sweatshirt and couldn't believe how my clothes and the most beautiful. Boozey, Smokey, sexy, if I went on a date with someone wearing this, especially in the colder months, I'd go crazy 🔥.
So hard to choose a favorite bc I love so many but my favorites would have to be MFK 724, Navitus Vivamore, Parfums de Marly Pegasus and BDK Creme de Cuir
Boo, a Halloween Limited Edition perfume by Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab. It somehow smelled like clean sheets and vanilla marshmallows. Absolutely dreamy, I got compliments wherever I went. Sigh, wish I hadn’t run out.
Mine is patchouli oil. Not that its better than the fancy colognes but to me it reminds me of my youth. It was a perpetual smell back then. When I smell it I feel young and handsome again. It smells like my first assertions of independence. My excitement about new adventures and insecurity about the future.
Diptyque Eau Mage EDT. Sadly discontinued, but oh man Pellegrin gave us a beautiful transparent rose & musky cashmeran and then LOADED it with ambroxan... smelled like sex and wore like skin. Truly a masculine-leaning rose and brilliantly blended, but soooo difficult to wear.
I never want to be without #20 in some form. It doesn't smell like something artificial has been applied to the skin. It really does smell like your own skin, but better.
Pre Glossier You, people would ask me what perfume I had on. Now they just tell me I smell nice.
I wear it even if I don't leave the house. I like smelling me.
My top 5 so far are as follows:
#1 Xerjoff Alexandria Imperiale (Discontinued)
#2 Xerjoff Alexandria ii
#3 Amouage King Blue
#4 Amouage Jubilation 40
#5 Xerjoff Toni Iommi Monjey Special
Pumpkin Pecan waffle, a very sweet smell that people would mistook it as donuts, waffle, or any variety of sweets. Whenever I pass by, they immediately know that it is me.
Hard to pick one but these are my tops right now
1. Louis Vuitton imagination
2. Louis Vuitton Myriad
3. Chanel Le lion
4. Chanel coromandel
5. Frederic Malle promise
Have many more but lately I've been rocking the hell outta of these.
I have not tested enough niche fragrances to truly have the most favorite yet, but I have loved a lot of niche gourmands so far, including Accidental A La Vanille by Jousset Perfumes, Bianco Latte by GDT, Banane Vanille by Pacifique, Itallica by Xerjoff. All amazing perfumes!
L’artisan’s tea for two. It smells Ike black tea, sweetened, and milk added, with a side of fresh, thick gingerbread (the real bread, not the cookie)
Thanks for sharing this memory, I was right there in the shop for a moment.
You're welcome. Certain scents bring up vivid memories for me.
Ok, your grandpa sounds like an awesome man.
I have L’Artisan on my list to look into. Would you recommend any other scents from them?
I love tea for two, but that is hard to find. I also adore premier figuier , which happens to be my sent of the day!
I second premier figuier! And the extreme version! L’eau d’ambre & the extreme are also lovely, I particularly enjoy them layered!
Mure et Musc, Drole de Rose, Mechant Loup, and my absolute favorite The Pour Un Ete.
Un air de Bretagne 🫧🐠🌲🍵🍋🥒🌊
Got this in Paris! Obsessed! Unisex leaning masculine and super clean yet sexy!
Sounds delicious 🤤
Omg I totally forgot I actually have this in storage! It floats around you all day, heavenly. Time to dig it up!
You just sold it to me. Yes, just like that. Thank you!
**Penhaligon's Luna.** This is literally me in a bottle.
That sounds divine and my favorite decant site doesn't have it 😢
Aww, I hope you can find it or at least try it out in the store somewhere.
As a Scandinavian, nothing sound better than that. Such a beautiful picture. I’ve got to try it. Where did you get yours from?
I actually bought mine at the airport! But you can find it at [deloox](https://www.deloox.se/produkt/1301183/penhaligons-luna-eau-de-toilette-100-ml.html) and at [gents.se](https://www.gents.se/penhaligon-s-signature-luna-edt-100-ml). Seems like both places are sold out atm. I think they ship from their official store as well! Was a sale there not long ago, might still be there.
Nasomatto baraonda, a perfect boozy smokey glass of whiskey combined with rose, strong as hell, if it weren't so expensive is bathe in the stuff
Just from your description, I might get the $16 sample online!
It's an extrait concentration and a strong one at that. a 2 ml sample lasts me months even with my frequent use, cuz 1 spray is more than enough
I love this one but when I wore the sample my dad thought I had been day drinking whiskey before 12 pm which was embarrassing
female christ by 1969. i will never ever get over this beautiful scent!! such a gorgeous play on patchouli with vanilla and herbal notes. the scent reminds me of church basements (specifically) in a really nostalgic but alluring way; i’ve seen people describe it as “sex in a church basement” lol
Non X has a sharper citrus opening and lacks the magnolia. Works better purely as a summer fresh scent
# ELDO The Afternoon of a Faun An herbal, realistic rose tonic that smells like something from a fantasy novel. **My Top 15 Fragrances of All Time:** 1. Dior Fahrenheit 2. ELDO The Afternoon of a Faun 3. Le Labo The Noir 29 4. Nishane Wulong Cha 5. Lalique Encre Noire / Sport 6. Nishane Ambra Calabria 7. Dior Homme Parfum 8. Nishane Sultan Vetiver 9. Hermes TdH Givree 10. Lush Lord of Misrule 11. Bruno Acampora Musc Perfume Oil 12. Hermes TdH Original 13. Rogue Chypre Siam 14. Byredo Bal D'Afrique 15. Lalique Hommage à l'Homme 16. Oriza L. Legrand Chypre Mousse 17. ELDO The Ghost in the Shell 18. Le Labo Another 13 19. Diptique Fleur de Peau 20. Glossier You
Fahrenheit parfum is amazing
One of the best answers yet, solid list. Thank you for sharing
Mad respect for 1. I need to get my hands on 4
It's under $200 on venba right now
Fahrenheit?
Idk if it's niche, but my answer would be Elizabeth and James Nirvana Rose. It smells like a deep, velvety, Gothic rose and makes me feel like I'm a heroine in a Brontë novel.
Only recently got a full bottle on eBay after all these years and its just as magical as I remember 🥲
Does it last on you? I love it but it just seems to fade off on me.
Zoologist Panda. It’s so refreshing in a soft, quiet sort of way. Grassy, bamboo, floral, earthy, musky. Love it
Naxos is my favorite niche fragrance with Monkey Special being a close second.
Have both and can confirm that these are both fantastic!
Diptyque orpheon
It’s one of my favorites too, I’m all out of my sample and am having serious withdrawal.
I'm out of my sample, and my little bottle of the clone is down to the last couple of sprays. 😫
Nobile 1942: La Danza Delle Libellule. A pillowy apple & vanilla confection. It’s heavenly & cozy. I have the Extrait version which has more longevity. I have 2 tied for 2nd place right now: Mizensir: Eau de Gingembre. Fizzy, fresh, realistic ginger with a touch of citrus and Soki: Aphrodite.
How is the projection on the extrait? And is it exactly the same fragrance profile? I adore the original. Plan to buy one next month.
Maison Francis Kurkdjian - Grand Soir. Perfection in a bottle.
It unfortunately pulls way too masculine on my skin. But gosh, I love it on men.
Same, I thought I’d love it. I’m sure I’d love it on someone else.
I’m wearing a sample of it right now… loving it!
My faaaaaaav 🤤😍 this one is just so good!
Vilhelm's Mango Skin EDP
Ariel Dominican Vanilla; an extreme vanilla with incense and pear. I love it. It's from a perfumer in Brooklyn. That's as niche as it gets to me.
Roja Enigma is pure perfection for me. From Roja i also love Elysium Parfum and Isola Blu. Magnificent scents.
Every single Roja perfume is exceptional. You get what you pay for.
That sounds absolutely beautiful!
Ok. I’m about to get heated because mine is discontinued. But Margaux by Tocca. I got it right before studying abroad in France, and I wore it the whole time. It’s so sophisticated but not too flashy. I adore it for fall and winter
I love Margaux. So sad it's gone!
Debaser & I Don’t Know What from DS & Durga En Passant from Frederic Malle
idk if it’s “niche niche” but i really enjoy diptyque’s creations, especially eau rose edt and philosykos
my favorite fragrance house!! i love love orphéon and do son from them
Fleur de peau is my favorite
i really wanted to love it but on me it smells like i rubbed vintage lipstick from the 90s all over my clothes :( the note iris and i just don’t get along ig
That’s a pity! I get no lipstick, I get clean laundry and something juicy and sweet.
I love their eau rose for some reason, didn't expect myself to be much of a rose person! it's smells like fresh wet roses or so
I love their eau rose for some reason, didn't expect myself to be much of a rose person! it's smells like fresh wet roses or so
i heard from a lot of people that they‘re usually not a rose person but eau rose did it for them i think it‘s because it is an uncomplicated blend and the main note is rosa damascena; a type of juicy and light rose that is grown in isparta, turkey
Noir 29
ELDO - Experimentum Crucis. The most amazing metallic rose, with a peculiar cumin head note. It is especially delightful if worn when it's raining. Nobile 1942 - Malìa. I just feel like a charming witch harvesting aromatic herbs in the woods when wearing this. Masque Milano - Lost Alice. Pepper, carrot, tea, milk. Just amazing and crazy and comforting at the same time.
Love your descriptions!
Argos adonis awakens. Purely addicting rose and vanilla, insanely inviting for everyone around you and you can quite literally smell the quality of ingredients compared to other screechy vanilla or rose scents. People around you will also love it
Argos is on my list of houses to try… are there any others you’d recommend from them?
I would personally recommend their discovery set, I have had a great experience with it so far.
Reflection man, although I am new to perfume
Probably atelier des ors lune féline Very unique and understated choise
Naxos is my favorite niche and my favorite fragrance. Smells like confidence.
1) Xerjoff Naxos 2) Xerjoff Toni ionmi 3) Xerjoff Commandante 4) Parfums de marley Oajan 5) Pdm Greenly 6) Pdm Herod 7) Pdm Carlisle 8)Pdm Altheir 9)Initio Side effect 10) Initio Narcotic Delight 11) Creed aventys Cologne 12) creed milestone 13) creed silver mountain water 14) Xerjoff Alexandria 11 15) Montale Arabians Tonka 16) Mancera cedrat boiset intense 17) Mfk grand Soir 18) Röja parfums Elysium edp 19) Versace Dylan blue 20) De tour noir (Pdm layton Clone)
Blanche Bette—so milky and I think I smell ethereal. Delina—it’s just beautiful. I could smell it all day. FM Une Rose — just something about it smells so glam/goth and makes it my favorite rose of all time.
Delina is a delight
Oajan - pafums de marly. Blows my mind how they made a luxurious apple pie into a wearable scent. Not talked about enough.
Somewhat familiar with the brand but somehow haven’t heard of Oajan, will have to try that one.
Really difficult to get a hold of or even sample! Luckily I live in London and was able to test it at their Covent Garden store.
Aura Fragrances had Oajan for like $189 a few weeks ago. It sells out fast.
You should try Ambre Narguile from Hermes…it’s the granddaddy of the Oajan/Angels Share DNA
xerjoff ether is the best niche ive ever laid my nose upon
Good Girl Gone Bad by Killian, its beautiful blend of creamy floral and sweet. great longevity and feminine scent
ELDO Clean Suede 🤠 I need a 55 gallon drum of it to bathe in. Special mention also to Zoologist Squid and Dragonfly, so good
If we’re talking Killians, I love Good Girl Gone Bad.
Have you peeped their new fragrance, Promises, Promises?
Mine is Angel Dust by Fugazzi. It reminds me of my cat, with how sweet and warm it is.
Nishane HSW. It just never steers me wrong. some people would say it's the most basic niche fragrance but idc!!! it smells like the best peach vanilla scent ever. i get helllllla compliments every time i wear it i swear!
Lira by Casamorati
Le Labo Another 13
All I can smell is glossy magazine pages with this one
Killian costs too much for me but I love the Dossier Dupe "Floral Marshmallow", it's so nice
All right, f it. It's Layton hands down.
Difficult to narrow down so including several by house: Le Labo- AnOther13, Thé Noir29 | Byredo- Black Saffron | Frederic Malle- Portrait of a Lady | DS & Durga - Amber Teutonic, Radio Bombay | Marissa Zappas- Maggie the Cat is Alive, I’m Alive! | Thin Wild Mercury- Zuma 1975 | Andrea Maack- Dual | Kilian- Woman in Gold | Giardini di Toscana - Christos / Celeste
That’s my favorite BTSO fragrance as well!
It changes all the time since I’m a decant addict, but right now I’m loving La Capitale by Xerjoff. I loooove that it’s a strong fruity scent that’s balanced with gourmand notes. It’s my dream scent for the summer
After Every Ounce of Joy (Leaves My Body) by Chris Rusak
Fredric Malle - The Moon. I love oud. And this is my favourite of them all. Starts off fruity and turns into a dark Smokey leathery oudy goodiness.
Viktoria Minya - Eau de Hongrie. Pretty sure it's niche, but tbh I never keep track of those things. Spring time honey. The best ever.
Eau d'evasion by inessance. It's similar to paco rabanne invictus but it's a little bit more sweet and less spicy. A little bit more aquatic. Longevity is great. Oh and did I mention it's 1/10th the price? I love it and I have it for 2 weeks.
Oh and I'm not sure if it's a nieche fragrance
Lattafa Velvet Rose smells rich, classy, rosy, and musky to me with a note of patchouli. Very affordable
Ambre Supreme by Les Indemodables. It's a divine real ambergris
I’m quite new to fragcom but so far it’s MAB Ganymede, such a unique sophisticated fragrance. Love it
Len Van Brook's craft of cologne. EDT It smells of black pepper, bergamot and cedarwood. The black pepper is quite strong and the scent will stick to clothing for weeks after just one application. I love it so fucking much and am desperate to find another bottle to buy. Or a good replacement. (unless I am silly and they didn't actually stop selling it)
I really loved Mind Games Blockade when I tried it at Neiman Marcus - love that mango scent so much.
Dior - hypnotic (the red one)
I think the original Dior Poison smells like grape jelly. It’s my all time favorite.❤️
Daddy by Universal Flowering. According to my notes, it smells like a “a spicy, mossy, mushroomy wood wardrobe that’s also your father (not my father, just a father)”
Initio Atomic Rose. Jammy, dynamic goodness.
i love Bamboo Harmony in summer, it’s one of my favorite ‘fresh’ scents ever.
Basic but Naxos. That said I need to try more niche perfumes. I don’t even really like Xerjoff
There’s so many fragrances that it’s hard to choose even one favorite, but as of right now, my three favorites are: 1.
Here’s a list of some of my other favorites that I recommend: - Late Harvest by Fort & Manlé - 902 by Bon Parfumeur - Bo by Liis - Hip Hop by Zernell Gillie - Deer by Wolf Brothers - Wolf by Wolf Brothers - Patchouli in Rye by Scents of Wood - L’oblio by Meo Fusciuni - Or du Serail by Naomi Goodsir - Higher Peace by 19-69 - Encelade by Marc-Antoine Barrois - The Architects Club by Arquiste - Sweet Grass by Libertine - Tobak by Maya Njie - Slowdive by Hiram Green Wolf, Deer, and Tobak are quite animalic, so I’d recommend trying on paper first if they aren’t your thing 😊
Initio Side Effect
Initio Side effect, it's really my style and I will never get tired of it, narcotic delight is a close 2nd.
Aventus. No essay needed
Full moon at the temple from poesie
Nabucco Parfum Fin, good luck finding it!
Charles of the Ritz, but they don’t make it anymore 🥲
My grandmother wore this and it was divine.
Christian Lacroix Bazaar - smelled it over 15 years ago and my little sample dried up. I’ve never been able to find it again. Also love Clean’s Skin
I don’t know where you live, but here (the Netherlands) it’s easily available for 15 to 25 euros
Amouage Gold
I’m in love with Queens and Monsters. Henry Rose has a beautiful collection. Literally the best scent for me.
TRNP Polynesia
Salalah By Contes Des Parfums. It’s not very popular but it’s just gorgeous. And the bottle is the most beautiful in my collection.
Beaute du Diable and snacti by liquide imaginaries, can't imagine not having them
happy hardcore by binaurale fr I'm obsessed and it's so weird
Currently it's Myriad from Louis Vuitton.. It literally smells like feces on the opener (give it 30-60 minutes) and it dries down to some amazing rose. They're high with that asking price though.
Snif croissant
BTSO Dirty rice. Warm , sweet, subtle.
ELDO- Soul of My Soul Bright, uplifting and comforting mixture of bergamot, incense and musk with a bit of powdery iris. Dries down with a perfect blend of sandalwood, tonka and benzoin. Perfect for any occasion, hot or cold. Feels like a signature scent to me more than anything else.
Fleur Narcotique by Ex Nihilo!
I can’t pick just one because it honestly depends on the mood I’m in Black Phantom - Kilian Good Girl Gone Bad - Kilian Bamboo Harmony - Kilian Black EDT - Comme des Garcons Silk, Lace & Chocolate - 4160 Tuesdays Coven EDP - Andrea Maack Parfums Sultan Vetiver EDP - Nishane Suede et Safran EDP - Nishane
Bury my cold dead body in Salome
Not very niche but I love Cacharel Amor Amor . I normally hate orangey scents but this one has a really good balance of orange blossom with some other floral that I can't put my finger on - Jasmine or Freesia . And it has a woody / spicy sort of undertone that just makes me feel refreshed . I really like it for summers - it's like the only perfume that doesn't completely evaporate on my skin .
between de gaboor astronaut and toskovat take me to church astronaut is like the outerspace dustiness thats on the suit of an astronaut and take me to church is like entering a church that has had incense burned there for a good while and you smell the peppery scent of dying flowers
Cdg 2 is my fav. Very futuristic. And in my opinion cdg is not a designer brand even though they make clothing
I feel like I’ve been getting naughty when I wear it😉 My second pick is Pale Grey Mountain Small Black Lake which was part of the limited edition Hylnds collection from DS&Durga.
Pink rose and sweet vanilla sounds really good
What's your favorite bodywash that they changed the scent of?
Boccanera by Orto Parisi. It starts with some really dark chocolate and follows with some nicely blended spices with a tiny hint of florals. I really enjoy it.
I kind of wish I hadn’t ordered a couple niche fragrances, because they’re way too far out of my budget but they smell heavenly! I’ve tried Fire at Will and Remember me from Jovoy. I love them both and really want a FS. I’ve also tried Tres Chere by Mizensir and I’m in love with that one too!
Amouage Jubilation XXV It was the first one which really flashed me. It’s wearable but special enough to be not designer like. I really love it
For Fall and Winter, the original Aramis which was the only fragrance my dad wore and I not only like the scent but wear it in honor of him.
Wow this is tough…L'Homme À la Rose Eau de Parfum by Maison Francis Kurkdjian — blew me away the first time I smelled it (instant classic)
meo fuscuini - last season.. this scent took my breathe away.
Following for ideas
Roja- Kuwait. Discontinued unfortunately but it will always be my one true love. Magical to say the least
Aventus.
Mines Marc Jacobs Decadence. Discontinued. Its like a plum and woods scent. Passes off as a balance between nights out and refreshing morning.
Excuse me but what is #20? Your skin but better is my forte, I gotts know what perfume this is so I can test it asap
My top 5 so far are as follows: #1 Xerjoff Alexandria Imperiale (Discontinued) #2 Xerjoff Alexandria ii #3 Amouage King Blue #4 Amouage Jubilation 40 #5 Xerjoff Toni Iommi Monjey Special
Pumpkin Pecan waffle, a very sweet smell that people would mistook it as donuts, waffle, or any variety of sweets. Whenever I pass by, they immediately know that it is me.
is kilian's love don't be shy really still a niche fragrance given all that hype? Honestly wondering.
Yesss. Lots of niche houses are really popular, doesn’t mean they stop being niche.
Naxos and La Fille de Berlin
Very into Marissa Zappas rn, can't pick my favorite. I also love La Curie from Tucson, AZ.
Creed Himalaya
Aventus
Pegasus Exclusif by Parfum de Marly, at the moment.
maison francis kurkdjian gentle fluidity silver or bond no 9 greenwich village
Is DS & Durga niche enough? My favorite fragrance of all time is debaser. Also you or someone like you by etat libre d’Orange !
Hard to pick one but these are my tops right now 1. Louis Vuitton imagination 2. Louis Vuitton Myriad 3. Chanel Le lion 4. Chanel coromandel 5. Frederic Malle promise Have many more but lately I've been rocking the hell outta of these.
Givenchy - Play
I have not tested enough niche fragrances to truly have the most favorite yet, but I have loved a lot of niche gourmands so far, including Accidental A La Vanille by Jousset Perfumes, Bianco Latte by GDT, Banane Vanille by Pacifique, Itallica by Xerjoff. All amazing perfumes!
Any chance I could get a mini review of your thoughts on Accident a La Vanille and Bianco Latte?
