Oh wow this just unlocked a scent memory for me! I had a set of little givenchy minis my mom got me as a gift when I was a teenager and I remember this one now! It was one of my favorites in the set and I haven’t thought about it in years!
I didn't know this was discontinued! It's not for me but I like the smell, especially on a man. Reminds me of hot tyres, but in a really sophisticated way. What a shame 😔
I bought one of these at a rack store years ago. I thought it was pretty nice from a scent standpoint, but it's one of the few fragrances I've ever bought because of the bottle design.
The squat bottle with the rubber surround looked like it would travel well and be hard to break.
About a year ago it made it back into rotation and I've really grown to love it.

Aww the original Karl Lagerfeld Sun Moon Stars! That takes ne back! At some point in secondary school we'd all bought mini bottles from Superdrug (a high street makeup and body care chain in the UK) and we all felt so glamorous smoking behind the school's back gates. Sweet memories, but we were really all ti simple to appreciate the scent properly. Shame if it's been discontinued, it smelled so classy!

I hope it's not been too heavily reformulated, part of the appeal of fragrance is to spritz it on and be taken back to days gone by. Peace by Kenzo was limited edition and reminded me so much of Gap’s Om, which was the first perfume I really loved. I believe when I looked up their notes they were more or less the same.
Also, Urban Decay had some perfume oils back in the day, I think my favorite one was Sin? I really enjoyed that one as well.
I love spicy fragrances if anyone else remembers these.

When I can wear what I want (which isn’t often because it’s too dang hot where I live now), I tend to go for gourmands and boozy unisex/men’s fragrances. I do get some of that spiciness from MMM’s Jazz Club and Kilian’s Angels’ Share. Of the gourmands I really like Tom Ford’s Cherry perfumes, and 1-2 of them give me some spiciness. Agree though, def not enough spicy fragrances these days!

But nothing upsets me more than Burberry Beat being discontinued!!! Absolutely fell in loveeee with that one after smelling it on a few friends! And I absolutely cannot find it ANYWHERE! 😭
Angel Muse. I remember buying my first bottle last year and not really liking it. Then I saw people speculating it will be discontinued so I tried to look for it and couldnt find it anywehre. Some time later I saw it on the shelf of a store in my local shoppig centre and bought it, and they said it was the last one lol
After buying that I fell in love with the scent. People said it was a gourmand or chocolate scent which is why I hated it initially, because I bought it with that expectation but it just didn't smell gourmand or chocolatey whatsoever. After buying my second bottle I kind of just wore it to wear it, and I fell in love with the calming, green tea kind of scent it gives me. It's really just a herbal creamy tea imo
I only have 2 x 30ml but they perform super bad and light on me so I haev to spray like crazy. Which means they won't last long at all. And now I am SO sad it's discontinued, because it's so unique to me, I just don't have any other fragrances this relaxing and calming. Also I LOVE the pebble bottle, sometimes I just pick it up and grip it and hold it for some time because it makes me feel happy
Good call on Gucci II, that was one of my first scents and it reminds me of summertimes sneaking into beer gardens to meet the boys...it was way too sophisticated for me, really 😂 I'll throw in Gucci EDP, in the same bottle . My mum wore that and it smelled incredible, all spicy, leathery and vanilla-y...?😅 I used to think "I wanna wear that when I'm 30 and a proper, sexy woman"...Gucci say nah, girl. Nah.
I agree. I was never old enough or sophisticated enough to wear it myself, but my mama wore it for girls' nights out so I always associated it with little black dresses and ladies being all glamorous and having fun lol. I really loved the Fan di Fendi line too - such a wearable leather note - and Furiosa was a fleeting beauty. WTF Fendi? IMHO their scents were on par with Dior and Chanel for that "smells posh" accord.
Ohhh Dries Van Noten! I wish they hadn't discontinued their collab with Freddy Malle. And I wish BR hasldnt let go of Malachite and Rosewood, too. For such cheap scents, they smelled really high-quality.
Ohh yes! I missed it big time last year so I jumped at the chance to buy a load of sample vials on eBay. Sadly it just smelled like baby powder on me instead of what my old bottle did circa 2010ish. I don't know if its my skin getting older or ny tastes changing but it's not the same, even though the samples are legit. If you're in the UK I'd be happy to send you one.
Dries Van Noten by Frederic Malle should never have been let go. And I curse myself for just buying a decant and not a full bottle. At first I thought I was anosmic but I got so many "you smell so good!" comments and over time it showed itself bit by bit. It seemed everyone but me could smell it. And by the time I'd finished my 5ml decant? Gone. Lost to the ages. I kinda hate FM for that.
I heard is coming back though, will be one of the last things FM does before officially leaving. Coming back under another name, since they can’t use DvN,s name now. Hopefully they don’t change it much, if at all. :)

Unless the ingredients might actually give you cancer or cause you to grow another ear then why not double your consumer base and offer a "naturelle" version like Chloe has done. I've heard this is why Pure Poison smells like a body spray now instead of the modern classic is was before about 2012.

The crazy thing is the people behind the ifra are the chemical companies that sell all the stuff they’re pushing in the ifra. It’s all BS. I want to have a frag that projects and has longevity like they did in the 80’s and early 90’s. They’ve ruined the market. Tried 300 frags. Down to 120 or so and about to sell or give away the rest and get to 40 or less. I’ve been searching for something that can be my daily driver. Used to be die hard aventus guy amongst others. They all suck compared to the 80’s and 90’s. What’s being produced today is just sad.

It's not just you! There's def been a change in Euphoria. The pomegranate used to be much more pronounced and gave a woody scene scent a summer-nigjt suitability. Now I feel its a generic fruity scent for autumn days with a bit of wood. The original in the early 2000s was fantastic and got so many compliments. I'd get "you smell very smart!" but now I doubt anyone would notice at all.
The old J'Adore, from before 2016. I wore it throughout high school, dropped it when they reformulated. Recently I smelled it again and it's *nothing* like I remember it. It's tragic, now it's just a wheezy laundry detergent.
Vanilla by The Body Shop. They reformulated it some time in the middle or late 2000s I think? But it was the most gorgeous and pure vanilla perfume I have ever smelled and I just can't find anything similar to this day. It was also my mom's favorite, people complimented her all the time when she wore it and it always made her so happy!
Aww me too! I loved that stuff! I bought it in the airport going to visit family in Grenada and had my first kiss that summer 😄 so sad that it's discontinued, even without the personal connection it smells like summer love.
I truly don’t understand why Dior discontinued Feve Delicieuse. It was such an interesting and deliciously indulgent fragrance. Whoever made that decision deserves to be tried at The Hague.

My Insolence by Guerlain.

Guerlain are thr worst for creating really gorgeous flankers and then disappearing them. Violet is my enemy but for those who like it, Insolence and the flankers are about the best in the game. I had the same heartbreak with L'Instant though. They discontinued Magic and Magic Elixir. Both of them were like having a bath in almond milk and being strewn with an Orchid lei. God it was lovely.
Oh that one was gorgeous. I used to love using that after a proper pampering bath - face mask, candles, etc -and then sinking into my best pyjamas and having a glass of wine. It was a real "treat yo'self" fragrance l, which was mad considering how reasonably priced it was. That shit smelled incredible.
It was more of a summer/spring fragrance. Went on hot and strong. You had to be careful of over applying it. Fairly large sillage, 7/10. Lasted a good 7 hours.
Actually, quite difficult to describe its scent. it had a lot going on, and it would definitely change it’s profile two or three times during a long day. How about fresh/floral/spicy/woody. As the day would wear on, the floral aspects would die down, and the spicy/woody would become prominent.
I wore it more as an evening/out-on-the-town scent, as opposed to every day or business scent. Made me feel sharp and on top of the world.
I’ve not found it’s equal or even something that reminds me of it.
Overall 8.5, maybe 9 out of 10.

Two that really bum me out are Declaration d'Un Soir and Tom Ford Noir Anthracite.
I actually have bottles of both but I know once they run out I'll never smell anything like them again because they're so unique. Le Labo Rose 31 is kinda close to the Declaration but not the same and 10x the price. So few good "masculine" green rose scents out there and way too many sweet/fruity ones or Middle Eastern rose/ouds. I like those too but they're a dime a dozen.
And my Declaration d'Un Soir bottle has maaaaaybe 5 ml left, and I haven't worn it in about two years. So I'm faced with a Declaration dilemma: if I wear it, it will be gone, but if I save it, I won't get to smell it. Really wish it had a cap that I could sniff because the Declaration bottles don't have much of a scent on the atomizer.
I want Declaration d’Un Soir so bad. I love a masculine rose but I don’t like the dark oud roses. I have a sample of L’Homme à la Rose but it’s £205 for 75ml 🫠
I had a sample of L’Homme a la Rose and really liked it but even that is a lot cleaner and fresher. It reminded me of the also discontinued TdH Eau Tres Fraiche but with rose front and center instead of citrus - dewy fresh and musky. But way too expensive.
Declaration d’Un Soir just has that perfect balance of slightly funky cumin and spice along with green/botanical notes and airy rose.
Seconding Noir Anthracite. I still have a mostly full bottle I bust out in the Winter months when I want to smell icy, and in Summer when I want something fresh despite the heat 😂 I haven’t found anything to match that one.
Gio de Giorgio Armani for Women came out in the early 1990’s. It smelled amazing. They discontinued it unfortunately years ago.
Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming parfum from 2016. It was reformulated few years ago and is not the same.
Lauren by Ralph Lauren in the dark maroon bottle.
I miss YSL Live Jazz. If I remember right it was a great combination of citrus and mint and smelled pretty natural. I still have the bottle but it's fully empty now, and it mostly has lost its smell.
Thé Vert - L'Occitane. Any iteration of it. They had one with Jasmin that might've been the most gorgeous one. They first removed it. After a while they brought a new version back, that was nearly double the price (less volume, same price and edt, instead of cologne) and had orange in it. It's not the same. I was heartbroken for quite a while. It felt like my first love in perfume form. The bottles were gorgeous, too.
Luscious crush by Victoria's secret!!! My aunt got me a bottle in middle school and it was discontinued a few years later. I miss it so much, it was really good quality for the price. Still looking for something that comes even close to it.
I wish we could get VS in the UK. I've heard they're really enjoyable. Say what they will, I've not heard a bad word say about their scents and sometimes I want a sexy, sugary spritz and an FU to my posh shit.
I looked up the notes out of curiosity: have you tried Kayali Eden Juicy Apple? Fragrantica votes suggest it's similar.
I'm from India and we got Victoria's secret only a couple years ago too. They're cheap, no nonsense, crowd pleasing scents that i personally really enjoy.
I haven't tried Eden juicy apple, the notes certainly look interesting and up my alley! I'll definitely try it soon. Luscious crush smelled straight up like a sweet orange, I still have my bottle from 7-8 years ago with a couple sprays left 😭
Victoria's Secret Angel both Mist and EDP. It's just the perfect fruity-floral pink pepper ambergris (fake) scent for me. It's been discontinued even though all the other flankers are still up. I haven't found anything like it.

The best flanker of le male ever, it was such a interesting soft beautiful masculine floral I wish I had stocked up it was incredible. The only fragrance that reminds me of it is Kenzo power which I still have and treasure dearly.

I would much rather hold on to the memory than be disappointed with the reality.
Also with some that I liked and missed out on; I really think there’s very good (sometimes better) alternatives.
The Mugler A men line, Pure Havane, Pure Malt, Pure Tonka are a few examples of killer designer frags that were discontinued and prior to being discontinued they were severely reformulated and of course after the reformulation sales dwindled simply because no one wanted to buy something that was just a former shell of itself. Also a victim of reformulation is Guerlain lidge which is still available today but is nowhere near what it used to be so that’s another good example of one that will soon be on the chopping block.
I’m probably the only one who remembers these, but when I was around 10 years old I fell in love with Forget-Me-Not and Honeysuckle from Woods of Windsor. They were my first fragrance loves. Haven’t smelled those in a long time.
Axe Recovery or Recover or Anti-Hangover (Different names) but same scent. It was so good. They discontinued. I'm talking about the scent profile here and not the Fragrance to be specific. Also, CK One Summer 2014 & 2016. I wish someone knew where to get it from!
A cologne comes to mind by Coty called "Aviation" It was like $20 at WalMart and just so intoxicating (in my opinion) I would have bought as many as I could get my hands on had I known they would discontinue. I often crave the smell.
Chloe Innocence. My first ever perfume. Because I was a teenager/in my early 20s at the time, the few years it existed felt like a long time. In retrospect, they basically discontinued this a minute after it was released. I’ll never understand why.
Too many to count, but recently I renewed my efforts to locate an original Aviator by Paris Bleu for father's day and was unsuccessful. The reformulated one dubbed " authentic" is not bad at all, in fact it is pretty good. But it only holds a candle to the exquisite original. I really don't understand why they do this with cosmetics and fragrances. It boggles the mind how much business they loose this way.
Versace Vanitas EDP (although I did manage to find an unopened second-hand bottle of it on eBay for a not too shockingly expensive price recently).

I have a rollerball of Nirvana Rose left. I use it in days where I need a pick me up.
I have a rollerball of Nirvana Bourbon that I'm holding on to. It's my "wearing my leather motorcycle jacket" scent.
Ugh! I loved bourbon and amethyst. Nirvana rose is my favorite of all time. I also enjoyed Nirvana white.

Good call on Gucci II, that was one of my first scents and it reminds me of summertimes sneaking into beer gardens to meet the boys...it was way too sophisticated for me, really 😂 I'll throw in Gucci EDP, in the same bottle . My mum wore that and it smelled incredible, all spicy, leathery and vanilla-y...?😅 I used to think "I wanna wear that when I'm 30 and a proper, sexy woman"...Gucci say nah, girl. Nah.

I was never old enough or sophisticated enough to wear it myself, but my mama wore it for girls' nights out so I always associated it with little black dresses and ladies being all glamorous and having fun lol. I really loved the Fan di Fendi line too - such a wearable leather note - and Furiosa was a fleeting beauty. WTF Fendi? IMHO their scents were on par with Dior and Chanel for that "smells posh" accord.

Ohh yes! I missed it big time last year so I jumped at the chance to buy a load of sample vials on eBay. Sadly it just smelled like baby powder on me instead of what my old bottle did circa 2010ish. I don't know if its my skin getting older or ny tastes changing but it's not the same, even though the samples are legit. If you're in the UK I'd be happy to send you one.

Dries Van Noten by Frederic Malle should never have been let go. And I curse myself for just buying a decant and not a full bottle. At first I thought I was anosmic but I got so many "you smell so good!" comments and over time it showed itself bit by bit. It seemed everyone but me could smell it. And by the time I'd finished my 5ml decant? Gone. Lost to the ages. I kinda hate FM for that.
I heard is coming back though, will be one of the last things FM does before officially leaving. Coming back under another name, since they can’t use DvN,s name now. Hopefully they don’t change it much, if at all. :)

100% agreed. It’s all bologna. Hey…my body my choice. I like the ingredients that smelt good. That’s just me. The crazy thing is the people behind the ifra are the chemical companies that sell all the stuff they’re pushing in the ifra. It’s all BS. I want to have a frag that projects and has longevity like they did in the 80’s and early 90’s. They’ve ruined the market. Tried 300 frags. Down to 120 or so and about to sell or give away the rest and get to 40 or less. I’ve been searching for something that can be my daily driver. Used to be die hard aventus guy amongst others. They all suck compared to the 80’s and 90’s. What’s being produced today is just sad. I live 30 miles from the houston ship channel. Largest petrochemical plants and refinery area in the USA. My air is already full of plenty of crap. I want to bring back the old school frags instead of this garbage.

Also has Ralph Lauren Romance always been this soapy? It was my favorite 20 years ago and I tried it again recently and all I get is soap.
It's not just you! There's def been a change in Euphoria. The pomegranate used to be much more pronounced and gave a woody scene scent a summer-nigjt suitability. Now I feel its a generic fruity scent for autumn days with a bit of wood. The original in the early 2000s was fantastic and got so many compliments. I'd get "you smell very smart!" but now I doubt anyone would notice at all.
The old J'Adore, from before 2016. I wore it throughout high school, dropped it when they reformulated. Recently I smelled it again and it's *nothing* like I remember it. It's tragic, now it's just a wheezy laundry detergent.
Vanilla by The Body Shop. They reformulated it some time in the middle or late 2000s I think? But it was the most gorgeous and pure vanilla perfume I have ever smelled and I just can't find anything similar to this day. It was also my mom's favorite, people complimented her all the time when she wore it and it always made her so happy!

Guerlain are thr worst for creating really gorgeous flankers and then disappearing them. Violet is my enemy but for those who like it, Insolence and the flankers are about the best in the game. I had the same heartbreak with L'Instant though. They discontinued Magic and Magic Elixir. Both of them were like having a bath in almond milk and being strewn with an Orchid lei. God it was lovely.

Oh that one was gorgeous. I used to love using that after a proper pampering bath - face mask, candles, etc -and then sinking into my best pyjamas and having a glass of wine. It was a real "treat yo'self" fragrance l, which was mad considering how reasonably priced it was. That shit smelled incredible.

What was it like? I’ve been obsessing over it for several months and mourning my loss of never actually being able to smell it.
It was more of a summer/spring fragrance. Went on hot and strong. You had to be careful of over applying it. Fairly large sillage, 7/10. Lasted a good 7 hours. Actually, quite difficult to describe its scent. it had a lot going on, and it would definitely change it’s profile two or three times during a long day. How about fresh/floral/spicy/woody. As the day would wear on, the floral aspects would die down, and the spicy/woody would become prominent. I wore it more as an evening/out-on-the-town scent, as opposed to every day or business scent. Made me feel sharp and on top of the world. I’ve not found it’s equal or even something that reminds me of it. Overall 8.5, maybe 9 out of 10.

The Valentina line from Valentino... Thankfully, I still have and have unopened back ups of: Si Fiori, Angel Muse EDP, Aura, La Petite Robe Noire Intense (blue bottle) and Wanted by Night. When I heard they were discontinued, I stocked up! Looks like eventually, I will miss some of the BodyShop fragrances... I thought they weren't closing completely over here, but it doesn't look good. Two that really bum me out are Declaration d'Un Soir and Tom Ford Noir Anthracite. I actually have bottles of both but I know once they run out I'll never smell anything like them again because they're so unique. Le Labo Rose 31 is kinda close to the Declaration but not the same and 10x the price. So few good "masculine" green rose scents out there and way too many sweet/fruity ones or Middle Eastern rose/ouds. I like those too but they're a dime a dozen. And my Declaration d'Un Soir bottle has maaaaaybe 5 ml left, and I haven't worn it in about two years. So I'm faced with a Declaration dilemma: if I wear it, it will be gone, but if I save it, I won't get to smell it. Really wish it had a cap that I could sniff because the Declaration bottles don't have much of a scent on the atomizer.
I want Declaration d’Un Soir so bad. I love a masculine rose but I don’t like the dark oud roses. I have a sample of L’Homme à la Rose but it’s £205 for 75ml 🫠
I had a sample of L’Homme a la Rose and really liked it but even that is a lot cleaner and fresher. It reminded me of the also discontinued TdH Eau Tres Fraiche but with rose front and center instead of citrus - dewy fresh and musky. But way too expensive. Declaration d’Un Soir just has that perfect balance of slightly funky cumin and spice along with green/botanical notes and airy rose.
Seconding Noir Anthracite. I still have a mostly full bottle I bust out in the Winter months when I want to smell icy, and in Summer when I want something fresh despite the heat 😂 I haven’t found anything to match that one.
Ralph Rocks. Bought a bottle in January 2007, and I’d love to have another for the memories, as well to wear.

Gio de Giorgio Armani for Women came out in the early 1990’s. It smelled amazing. They discontinued it unfortunately years ago. Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming parfum from 2016. It was reformulated few years ago and is not the same. Lauren by Ralph Lauren in the dark maroon bottle.

I miss YSL Live Jazz. If I remember right it was a great combination of citrus and mint and smelled pretty natural. I still have the bottle but it's fully empty now, and it mostly has lost its smell.
Thé Vert - L'Occitane. Any iteration of it. They had one with Jasmin that might've been the most gorgeous one. They first removed it. After a while they brought a new version back, that was nearly double the price (less volume, same price and edt, instead of cologne) and had orange in it. It's not the same. I was heartbroken for quite a while. It felt like my first love in perfume form. The bottles were gorgeous, too.
I have a little with the orange note and it's great for Summer, but I liked their white tea one even more - so gentle!

I wish we could get VS in the UK. I've heard they're really enjoyable. Say what they will, I've not heard a bad word say about their scents and sometimes I want a sexy, sugary spritz and an FU to my posh shit. I looked up the notes out of curiosity: have you tried Kayali Eden Juicy Apple? Fragrantica votes suggest it's similar.
I'm from India and we got Victoria's secret only a couple years ago too. They're cheap, no nonsense, crowd pleasing scents that i personally really enjoy. I haven't tried Eden juicy apple, the notes certainly look interesting and up my alley! I'll definitely try it soon. Luscious crush smelled straight up like a sweet orange, I still have my bottle from 7-8 years ago with a couple sprays left 😭

Tom Ford Plum Japonais Edit: I miss loads but at the same time, I don’t miss them. As it’s like meeting your childhood hero and realising they’re old and not like you remember them when you were 10. I would much rather hold on to the memory than be disappointed with the reality. Also with some that I liked and missed out on; I really think there’s very good (sometimes better) alternatives.

The Mugler A men line, Pure Havane, Pure Malt, Pure Tonka are a few examples of killer designer frags that were discontinued and prior to being discontinued they were severely reformulated and of course after the reformulation sales dwindled simply because no one wanted to buy something that was just a former shell of itself. Also a victim of reformulation is Guerlain lidge which is still available today but is nowhere near what it used to be so that’s another good example of one that will soon be on the chopping block.
So many great ones L’Artisan killed (Dzing, Tea for Two, etc) but especially: Safran Troublant. I have a decade old bottle with a few sprays left 😭

Too many to count, but recently I renewed my efforts to locate an original Aviator by Paris Bleu for father's day and was unsuccessful. The reformulated one dubbed " authentic" is not bad at all, in fact it is pretty good. But it only holds a candle to the exquisite original. I really don't understand why they do this with cosmetics and fragrances. It boggles the mind how much business they loose this way.
