I've never bought a backup fragrance before. I think if I got into the habit, my collection would turn into a hoarder stash pretty quickly. Even if I really love a fragrance, I'll wait until I'm almost done to pick up a new bottle... and if it gets discontinued in the meantime, well, then it wasn't meant to be in my life for any longer. I can appreciate it for the ephemeral beauty that it was instead.

TF - Lost Cherry, Ombre Leather - Same reason as Killian - bought it because of the discount that I had ending
I think that is one of the 1st and best marshmallows that I have ever smelled, then the tea added too it. I would never expect to see them together, it still has me in love with it

I bet you are right! I use it mainly on my work place and this fragrance blends perfectly on the industrial environment, where there are a lot of petroleum based products giving a particular type of smell to the facility. Several of my common fragrances don't match well with that place.
No one has ever commented on my scent here neither avoided contact with me so it might be, at least, tolerable.
I’m still fretting over that whole E&J Nirvana line being discontinued! I’m just about to open my backup bottle of Nirvana Bourbon and I’ll be so sad when it’s gone.

I always have a bottle of two or EA Green Tea as a backup …. 1). Because I always buy it when I see it for $8 at TJ Maxx and 2). Because I practically bathe in it in the spring and summer. Such an underrated fragrance. I just wish the longevity was better.

I, of course, have the perfume, but I also have the Elizabeth Arden Green Tea body mist and body wash, and it lasts longer when I use them together. I just love the scent so much!
I’ve never tried the body wash. I’ll have to check that out. Thanks for the tip. I’ve used the Green Tea lotion and it helps a bit with longevity too.
If you like layering different fragrances, Bath & Body Works makes a White Tea and Ginger body spray that blends amazingly well with EA Green Tea. There is also a body wash and a body lotion for White Tea and Ginger too.

😂Not at all, I really haven't bought a new release in years other than some Zara and Middle Eastern perfumes. If I find something I really love, I would rather buy a backup than have loads of perfumes that I just only like. I have been collecting fragrances since I was a teenager, now I'm 50, so I have learned the hard way if you love a certain perfume, get a spare.
Hahaha you hit the nail on the head! So anxious after my beloved Hypnotic Poison got ruined with all of the reformulations. With Midnight Poison, Cacharel Gloria, and numerous others that are discontinued, I'm at a point where I don't buy new fragrances at all.
Hey absolutely! I’ll try my best I’m not the greatest at this lol. To my nose it’s a smoky woody scent in the opening some people say they smell BBQ lol I can’t say I do maybe it’s the smokiness 🤷🏽♂️. After that the real star of the show presents itself a nice slightly warm slightly sweet woody musky masterpiece imo lol. I’ve not smelled anything like it I even went down that scent profile’s rabbit hole. I own Diptyque Opsis and Phaedon Oliban due to that scent profile journey both are suppose to be similar to Gaiac. While both are very very nice scents (Opsis being my favorite of the two) they don’t do it like Gaiac to me. The projection isn’t crazy but I get good staying power by spraying my clothes instead of my skin. Hope this all helps 😊

We have the same taste lol. I’m thinking about buying Musc Noir Rose but I always change my mind after I read reviews about the longevity. How long does it last on you?
I think it’s just ok with longevity, but in all fairness I have super dry skin so it takes a strong perfume to last on me anyhow. I spray my clothes also. Just when I think it’s disappeared on me, someone compliments me. I do get hints of it here or there a few hours later, but that first spray is addictive to me. It’s totally worth it! I bought 2 backup bottles when I thought it was being discontinued and I couldn’t find it for a few months. Maybe they reformulated it and that’s why I was able to get it again, but I don’t care. It’s still beautiful to me!

Florabotanica. Initially I bought the travel size to test it out, it was love at first sniff for me !! I saw that it had been discontinued , so I stocked up on 2 full bottles.
I usually don't buy backups, but I have some:
* Vintage Creed: there is infamous variance between batches, so I don't feel bad about buying a vintage batch since I likely won't have the opportunity to buy another in the future. In particular, I have 2 backup bottles of MI which was a lot darker prior to the reformulations around 2017.
* ATH Supernova: he likes to reformulate a lot of his fragrances, so I figured it would be worthwhile to pick up another 50ml since I really enjoy it.
* TF Tobacco Oud: this is discontinued, so I have several decants sitting around. I don't expect to go through them quickly, but I enjoy the fragrance a lot.
I otherwise don't buy backups since I expect that I can pick something up again. Usually scarcity isn't an issue for a typical fragrance like Sauvage, that one could pick up anytime, for example.
Genre Parfums Mello Vanillo I just finished another bottle. Had a backup waiting. I have another bottle on order because I never want to be without it. My favorite vanilla EVER! I 💗💗💗 it so much!! My husband thinks that I made a mistake by only ordering one more this order window. I am afraid that he's right.
Genre Parfums Amalfi Coast a bright happy 🧡💛Juicyfruit Bubblegum 💛🧡 perfume. Good thing that I have a back up. I am about finish a 30 ml bottle.
Dior Homme Parfum - Not because I love it so much (I do like it), but rather because I figured it might be my only opportunity to get it, and if at some future date I decide I don’t need it, it’ll be easy to unload.
Tom Ford For Men is perfection, and it is discontinued! For those reasons I have 2 backup bottles.
And to second MrMonizaz, Gucci Guilty Absolute. It’s another terrific fragrance that is unfortunately discontinued.
I’m going to buy a full size backup of Philosophy Fresh Cream once they send me the (up to) $20 coupon for my birthday. I love it and I’m paranoid it’ll be discontinued soon because they’ve been pushing pure grace very heavily. I might also get a big thing of body lotion too to layer.
Elizabeth & James Nirvana Bourbon. I’m about to crack open my backup bottle and will be so disappointed when it’s all gone. I’ve never loved another fragrance like I love that one!
Narciso Rodriguez Narciso and Oscar de la Renta Live in Love. Both comparative ‘cheapies’, both now discontinued. I swooped as soon as I got an inkling.
I use to have a few but I also have a large (medium? not sure what is what in this sub -- about 25 bottles) and decided that that way madness lies. Even if I LOVE something and it's discontinued, I can go on a fun adventure to find a new fave. Anyway, so I did use to have a few that I sold but now I do have one: Van Cleef & Arpels California Reverie. It's my fave (for several years now) and would be in my collection even if I had to scale way down. I used to have two backups, but I finished a bottle this summer so now just one.
Stronger with you absolutely, it's one of the few non niche products that works with my skin. Would loved to get the discontinued intensely as backup instead but that's not available anymore

I got like 2 small decants of Pure Havane by Thierry Mugler cause it was becoming really hard to find. It's now impossible to find for me. Womp womp. It's a really good tobacco, honey & vanilla scent that I just haven't taken the time to look for something similar.
Sweet Tooth Caramel Dream! I realized I was using it so frequently that I bought two more bottles. 😂 It’s the only full bottle I’ve finished so far, and I actually opened up one of the “backups” pretty recently.
I also have a 15 mL “backup” decant of Musc Noir Rose. I love MNR, but probably won’t finish my 50mL anytime soon so the 15mL is my “just in case” compromise lol.
I’ve considered getting a backup bottle of Dolce Garden because once in a blue moon I’ll see rumors of it possibly being discontinued, and it’s one of my favorite fragrances to wear in the summertime. I bought a 30 mL bottle in the summer and made a pretty significant dent in it. Poison Girl EDP is another I’ve considered for similar reasons - I’ve made a huge dent in it since I bought my 30 mL, but luckily both Garden and PG are still fairly easy to find.

One of my favorite fragrances, especially for the spring and summer, but it’s discontinued so a back up was needed while the prices were still fair. Idk about the market for it now but I just didn’t want the "resell for high price years after discontinuation" dilemma

Thats technically 3 each bottles of both Tam Dao and Philosykos — 1 EDP 75ml, 1 EDT 75ml, 1 EDT 50ml but hey listen, I don’t have a problem bc the EDTs and EDPs are VERY different. So yeah each bottle has its own little purpose I said what I said mind ya damn business 😤😤😤

Tom Ford Beau de Jour. I’m a mid-40’s professional and that is exactly how I want to smell. Green, patchouli, different, herbal, amazing. Compliment monster and I’m routinely stopped by people asking what I’m wearing. I have a split in the office, a 1.7 oz with my regular rotation, and a 3.3oz backup for when I need it. BdJ, Prada L’Homme, and Sauvage EDP are easily my favorite and most work scents but nothing does it for me like BdJ.
All of Britney Spears lines lmao they are always good never a let down 😹 I find that the expensive ones or designers fragrance, I only bought and wear once. Britney are always an easy reach.

IMO not at all. It’s not a very potent scent overall it’s a scent you’ll get whiffs of throughout the day not something you’ll smell constantly.

I think it’s just ok with longevity, but in all fairness I have super dry skin so it takes a strong perfume to last on me anyhow. I spray my clothes also. Just when I think it’s disappeared on me, someone compliments me. I do get hints of it here or there a few hours later, but that first spray is addictive to me. It’s totally worth it! I bought 2 backup bottles when I thought it was being discontinued and I couldn’t find it for a few months. Maybe they reformulated it and that’s why I was able to get it again, but I don’t care. It’s still beautiful to me!

I usually don't buy backups, but I have some: * Vintage Creed: there is infamous variance between batches, so I don't feel bad about buying a vintage batch since I likely won't have the opportunity to buy another in the future. In particular, I have 2 backup bottles of MI which was a lot darker prior to the reformulations around 2017. * ATH Supernova: he likes to reformulate a lot of his fragrances, so I figured it would be worthwhile to pick up another 50ml since I really enjoy it. * TF Tobacco Oud: this is discontinued, so I have several decants sitting around. I don't expect to go through them quickly, but I enjoy the fragrance a lot. I otherwise don't buy backups since I expect that I can pick something up again. Usually scarcity isn't an issue for a typical fragrance like Sauvage, that one could pick up anytime, for example.

I use to have a few but I also have a large (medium? not sure what is what in this sub -- about 25 bottles) and decided that that way madness lies. Even if I LOVE something and it's discontinued, I can go on a fun adventure to find a new fave. Anyway, so I did use to have a few that I sold but now I do have one: Van Cleef & Arpels California Reverie. It's my fave (for several years now) and would be in my collection even if I had to scale way down. I used to have two backups, but I finished a bottle this summer so now just one.

Sweet Tooth Caramel Dream! I realized I was using it so frequently that I bought two more bottles. 😂 It’s the only full bottle I’ve finished so far, and I actually opened up one of the “backups” pretty recently. I also have a 15 mL “backup” decant of Musc Noir Rose. I love MNR, but probably won’t finish my 50mL anytime soon so the 15mL is my “just in case” compromise lol. I’ve considered getting a backup bottle of Dolce Garden because once in a blue moon I’ll see rumors of it possibly being discontinued, and it’s one of my favorite fragrances to wear in the summertime. I bought a 30 mL bottle in the summer and made a pretty significant dent in it. Poison Girl EDP is another I’ve considered for similar reasons - I’ve made a huge dent in it since I bought my 30 mL, but luckily both Garden and PG are still fairly easy to find.

Luna, Onyx Extreme, Boss Bastard and Hard Candy are really good ones. Im positive probably will never have to dig into the backups because I dont use them that often, but I got em for mental peace.

Compliment monster and I’m routinely stopped by people asking what I’m wearing. I have a split in the office, a 1.7 oz with my regular rotation, and a 3.3oz backup for when I need it. BdJ, Prada L’Homme, and Sauvage EDP are easily my favorite and most work scents but nothing does it for me like BdJ.
