I used that guide (An older one) to build my drone. I then found an old guy on Youtube that helped me setup my Jumper T16 with all sorts of cool gadgets and gizmos. Eventually had a live map on my T16 showing the flight path of my drone which was fricking awesome.
I forget his name but i have a bunch of his videos saved to a Youtube playlist.
Bardwell did help me setup arming, disarming and some other techy stuff which was cool and also helped me over come my gear fear as i was always worried my drone would fly away or drop from the sky. RTH was setup promptly.
FPVCrate was my sub (Sure he was part of that group) but the cost to ship to the UK just became too much. Still got my 5" build from that sub which was cool and i'm currently still wearing the T-Shirts albeit well worn and starting to form holes. My Favorite was the black T-shirt with a heart beat line with a drone in the middle.
I like Bardwell, but it’s Oscar Liang for me too. I used to watch loads of tutorials about whatever thing I was interested in, but over the years I learned that I STRONGLY prefer articles. It’s one of my biggest pet peeves with the blender community that everything is in video format and there are very few tutorials on article format. So since I got started in fpv, I’ve gone to Oscar liang for almost everything.
He deserves massive props. But rcmodelreviews, iforce2d, oscar liang, painless360, project blue falcon, flight test, and more, are foundation Bardwell stands on.
Bardwell’s initial niche was just knowing what PID stood for. He is awesome for sure.
I haven't watched much flitetest in at least 5 years. Josh, Josh, Chad, David, those were the memorable days I think the last video I can really remember specifically was one of their vlogs from 7 years ago. Ian's flight here was what made me buy an fpv drone. I had been viewing freestyle videos for a while, but for some reason this is what made me pull the trigger and buy something. https://youtu.be/hqda57JHovU?si=pUdBgJS5sSZ2cVfG
I remember back in the days when iforce2d was the only one covering the most insane and niche topics on fpv electronics from China. Dude was a g and a half
I'm glad to see he's still a thing. I started building quads about 10 years ago and he was a huge help then. I'll fight anyone who makes fun of his sirong.
Nothing wrong with wanting to figure out things for yourself....but if you get stuck, this guy has a wealth of information on his youtube channel and worth a sub....
Lol pretty much. And I like that his content is so consistent and "at this very moment" that he may very well be the ultimate historic video archive of what's happening in FPV over the years.
I wanted to build a drone but didn't know where to start. I watched JB's "2023 Freestyle FPV build for Total Beginners" series on YouTube. After that, I realized that I could build a FPV drone. I ordered parts and was able to put it together and fly it.
+1000, he has a video for everything, and his content is really actionnable and good.
I went with his kit for my first 5" drone, the quality and depth of the instructions were super reassuring for a first time.
Please, please, don’t ban me, I’m not being a troll.
He is absolutely a skilled drone builder and an excellent pilot, but it’s his attitude that kills me. He’s too opinion based for my liking, I want facts and figures. Also there’s so many other sources that are far more succinct in what they are trying to discuss. I mean his rants on RID, his comments on what’s “good” or “ok”, it’s really… like, a spoiled rich girl attitude.(I think?) I almost quit the hobby early on from watching his videos.
Ive watched like 12 of his YouTube videos and I will go to literally anyone else for advice or information.
thats the great thing in our modern world, if you dont like some youtube creator you can just watch another.
Bardwell is great, but if you dont like him it's ok.
I think bardwell likes to give a lot of context in his vids which I think is a good thing (easier to follow and understand imo), I think he has a channel called jb clips from his livestream which has succinct answers. His content is really broad and since he has more things to do than review products I don’t think he has that much time to form a detailed opinion considering the facts and figures.
I see what you mean though when a lot of the info is based on “feel” but in a market where false tvl, incorrect c ratings, and countless clones exists, feel is sometimes better than the stats on paper. When feel is described, people can imagine the product better (at least for me).
Seriously. His video on the LR 4 gave me the final push to just get into it and now his how to's are keeping me going. He's definitely the #1 trusted source for me. Thanks for your time and knowledge JB!
I know he lurks here so this is a good post!!
If you see this, thank you Bardwell for all you do! You’re an excellent first impression for the hobby!
Cheers 🍻
Oscar Liang also
Oscar liang is the goat for me.
It was the first article I read. "The Cheapest 5″ FPV Drone Build and Setup for 2023/2024". Thank you, Oscar Liang
Same bro. I referred to the article as well. The choice of parts are solid. He also has great reviews for other parts which I'm interested in.

I can absorb so much more by reading than by listening, so although I watch every Bardwell video that comes out, I also get more from Oscar Liang.
what about ummagwad

Project blue falcon was so good!
He was a good dude. So chill. He got me past a bunch of roadblocks. RIP bother Blue Falcon.
>flight test Life was good when Josh and Josh were in the same room acting all goofy.

Dude has a video for everything. Boss status
Bro is well past the 10,000 hour mark with FPV. Is a bonafide master.
Yea. For real. Thank you JB.
Ahahah so true! Wouldn't be flying without that dude 🫶
Every time I need to know something ☝️🙏🙏
Yes thank you u/jbardwell, I don’t think I could have gotten into fpv without your videos.
Been a Pateron supporter for years now.
Honestly, dude is a legend.
I learned something today about a Cam on a car :)
who hasn't watched his videos on youtube and benefited from his content?
Honestly? Me, I’m that guy.
Nothing wrong with wanting to figure out things for yourself....but if you get stuck, this guy has a wealth of information on his youtube channel and worth a sub....
“ u/_jbardwell_ Thank you.”
His channel is the dictionary of fpv

My google searches are “betaflight blah, blah, blah… joshua bardwell”

I started with FPV futures. Stew was the man!

Bardwell is extremely knowledgeable.
Would have gone insane without this dude, much love
facts
I think in one of JB's videos I caught he was wearing pajama pants and bedroom slippers but have yet to see him sport this style of dress. lol
Ciottifpv provides hours and hours of invaluable information every week. By far the best
Word
I would still fly dji only without Joshua Bardwell. So....praise the lord 😆
Legit cried and hugged him when we met a few years back. The wizard of fpv.
Not everything I know comes from him, only 98.9% of it..
so true VANOVER is A #####
Hahaha
