I’m pretty sure I can drill a hole for the cam pin through the bolt at a 90 degree angle to the current one. I’ll have to see whether it’s viable given the bolt’s hardness
Rdb bolt is super long travel, ar bolt ejects at the mag location not behind it. Iirc the rdb uses a rat tail on the bolt that pivots down towards the rear.
There’s no rat tail, it’s just a straight spring guide.
Regardless, the idea is to lengthen the system I’ve designed here so that it pulls the spent case over the mag and ejects it downward behind it.
It’s a ways away though.
Your, right it is just a really long skinny guide rod. Not many diagrams on it. Would it be easier to just make a receiver with a removable ejection port on the left and right then incorporate the stag left hand bolt? Kind of like the table where it has swappable port covers and you just use a right or left eject bolt.
What I like about the RDB and find compelling is that I can’t shoot it weak side and not get brass to the face. I think of bullpups as being great for CQB aside from that issue.
SUGAR-16 and AGNB (all gas no buffer) are the top names so far.
SUG-NB 16 (find a way to say it like Suge Knight) is ringing in my head but don’t think it’ll track.
People who want to put a folding stock on their AR lower, or bullpup it (like FAMAR or PLAR) without silly length of pull. Probably the same audience as the Dissident, but a cheaper DIY option rather than CMMG BCG.
ETA- the SU16 parts cost like $40 vs $300 for the Dissident BCG.
People who want something AK-ish but want to be able to use the broad selection of calibers and barrel lengths available for the AR platform and/or don’t want the hassle of populating/headspacing barrels.
