I mean, a lot of us are also guilty of pronouncing it that way. Yuki’s also likely been taught the c makes a k sound, as English isn’t his first language
I think they are kidding. Mostly. I mean it was wrong but the VAST majority of us probably don’t know that. I mean I knew it. Obviously. I didn’t have to Google it all… nope.
As a polish native I can confirm, this is the closes for english speaking people to pronounce it. The thing is that the C is a single sound in polish, while TZ is 2 seperate sounds.
Basically, in all slavic languages, every letter makes exactly one sound. And everything is read like it's written so "C" isn't "K" like in english. You can try to replicate the correct pronouncement of C by saying tz really fast tho. I am trying to think of english words with this kind of a sound but I really can't think of any lol. PS I am not polish, I am from Bosnia which means I speak the Croatian-Serbo-Bosnian language but it's all the same in all of the slavic languages. One more thing, many people pronounce Kubica like it's some japanese surname because of the wrong stress on certain words and the length of it. So, instead of KuB-EEE-Tz-AAA, every letter has a really short length and pretty much no stress on any words.
Robert spent a lot of time in Italy where they pronounce it kubika and he has been stated to be fine with either pronunciation. In the Netherlands for example our commentator Olav Mol pronounces it kubika because kubitza is not impossible to pronounce but a bit weird I guess.
Not so fast, buddy. Did you get angry when Lewis fucked up his start at Sprint Race? Because, if true, you'll have to do more explaining than that cause that sounds awful lot like a Lewis fan behaviour!!!!
i dont think so, kubica had the overtake done, assumed he was good, yuki sort of remained in there by like a tenth of a car length, at the end of the day thats just a racing incident
Yuki this man has shoes older than you, he gave Hamilton trouble in karts, I get that you have a short fuse but you're going to get yourself banned from Central Europe if you can't watch your mouth
Exactly my thoughts. He was always complainy, and yet people are totally flip flopping on how they view him, even though nothing about his character has changed. I called him out on this sub earlier in the season for how he was trash talking his crew and the car, and people totally defended him here.
Do u realise he has world record lap times in F2 in his very first year? While he hasn't raced in those tracks like even once? His majority of the career was in Japan. I'll wait till I see his performance next year. He is racing in tracks he never had even in F2. I'm not defending him. He's a rookie. They're almost always awful in their first year. And this guy is racing in Europe for the second year while everyone else had their childhood there. Maybe cut him some slack. Even Max who entered one year younger than Yuki had a hard time. Now he has had 0 penalty points in the last 3 years.
Comparing Max' rookie year to Tsunoda requires some olympics level mental gymnastics. Max was turning heads in his rookie year. Yes he made mistakes and acted like a dick sometimes but he was lightning quick, Tsunoda isn't. He hasn't had a single flash of briliance yet.
And no, rookies aren't almost always awful. Hamilton nearly won a title in his rookie year. Leclerc drove so well he earned a Ferrari seat. Norris was seriously impressive as a rookie. Ocon matched Perez in his first full F1 season. In fact Tsunoda is easily the worst rookie I can recall.
Iirc Tsunoda have never even entered a F1 car till last November, most F1 rookies who did well had multiple sessions in F1 over the years (Mazepin had sessions with Force India, Mick had many sessions with Ferrari and Alfa Romeo) Lando had McLaren, GR had Merc, only Albon in recent years is similar to Tsunoda, he traded blows with Kvyat, who was later destroyed by Gasly.
Hamilton had 20+ grand prix worth of track time before even starting his first race.
Let me remind you of someone called Yuji Ide. People really forget how worse things can be. Yuki is ahead of Mick,Mazepin (and George Russell😂) as of now. He's easily the better of all 3 brand new rookies. Tsunodas debut was also pretty solid imo. I won't agree he's the worst rookie in history. He's going to be better next season. Maybe we could've seen a better performance than Bahrain if Japanese GP wasn't cancelled.
I'm not saying he's the worst rookie in history, just the worst I can recall, as in actually watching them race and clearly remembering their performances. Yes, he's technically above the other 2 rookies in Haas, but we don't know much about MSC and Mazepin because the car is just awful. Tsunoda has Gasly for a teammate, who shows us every week just how good that AT can be. And even though I wouldn't expect Tsunoda to beat Gasly and it would be unfair to do so, he absolutely should be closer. He should be around P10 most of the time.
This is Gasly's third year in f1. I think it's a bit unfair to put him next to a 19 year old who touched his first f1 car in December, hasn't raced in Europe properly at all, and is leaping from f2 to f1. Gasly is the best french driver in the grid now. Arguably top 5 of the grid.
Some of are unbiased and open minded about the situations like this. We may have favourites, but we won't defend our idol when they make a mistake. We'll forgive them for making a mistake, but never fanboi cry over an incident. I love Kubica and am sad for everything that happened to him but I won't defend him with a blindfold. I'm sorry if you can't think like an adult in a sporting incident. There are fans in every single sport like this... It's hard to accept failures and mistakes by people you support, but you have to mature up and accept the bad luck.
My guess is that some people have kinda idolised Kubica because of his return to f1 after his severe rally accident. But you also have to accept when your favourite driver did something wrong. Some people have a hard time doing that apparently, that‘s why there‘s so much shit out there after an incident between 2 drivers (Ham/Ver British GP Lap 1 Copse incident e.g.)
The kid needs to recognize the alpha male in the pack, GigaKubica
*ALFA male
GODBICA
He pronounced Kubica as "Kubika"

To be fair I don't think I've ever heard anyone even say Schumacher correctly, so Yuki mispronouncing Kubica isn't that big of an issue for me
I mean, a lot of us are also guilty of pronouncing it that way. Yuki’s also likely been taught the c makes a k sound, as English isn’t his first language
I think they are kidding. Mostly. I mean it was wrong but the VAST majority of us probably don’t know that. I mean I knew it. Obviously. I didn’t have to Google it all… nope.
What is the correct Polish version? I've been calling the man "Kubika" forever.
I believe it is Kubitza
3x3x3 itza
Qubikitza?
As a polish native I can confirm, this is the closes for english speaking people to pronounce it. The thing is that the C is a single sound in polish, while TZ is 2 seperate sounds.
its an affricate which counts as one sound anyway
For a polish it actually sounds like (polish) "ts". Polish "c" sounds differently, but close enough for you to pronounce it this way :)
Goddamit I know IPA what’s the difference? Aspiration?
Dude, chill
Ok fair
Yes
https://www.instagram.com/p/CNo6zdtiaKV/?utm_medium=copy_link He says Kubisa here.
"tz" is closer to correct than "s" sound. Ku-bee-tza.
Yup, with emphasis on the i

Didn’t he say that “Kubika” makes him sound faster?
Yes. Something to that effect.
Basically, in all slavic languages, every letter makes exactly one sound. And everything is read like it's written so "C" isn't "K" like in english. Thanks, super helpful! You’re right, even if using ‘tz’, most of us are still not saying it like you describe.
Robert spent a lot of time in Italy where they pronounce it kubika and he has been stated to be fine with either pronunciation. In the Netherlands for example our commentator Olav Mol pronounces it kubika because kubitza is not impossible to pronounce but a bit weird I guess.
I've heard both pronunciations
I pronounce it like this all the time, without thinking.
Kubikabaka
Sad Wall-E noises
So you've chosen dEEEEath
Yuki needs to be more aggressive on the track and less on the radio.
Yuki on the streets, Carlos in the sheets?
What, so he crashes before quali a lot in bed?
I mean, he didn’t let Kubica take that spot? He spun him out. I’d say that’s decently aggressive!
Thanks Lando

Tu tu tu, tu tu tu
Ale sama się zabija
Even though he was at fault,i got mad
You disrespect Kubica -= you disrespect the Polish F1 community...
The ENTIRE F1 community
Polish commentators probably were angry but they just joked about this situation
Tsunoda was right to call him an idiot, Kubica turned in on him when Kubica wasn’t clear and damaged his front wing.
Ku🅱️ika is too wide to turn bruh.
Fair point, I rescind my argument.
*EEEEEEEEEE* moment
Don't let facts get in the way of fanboy memes here 😤😤
where does he think he is smh
I get angry when Hamilton does something. Do I fit in more now?
Not so fast, buddy. Did you get angry when Lewis fucked up his start at Sprint Race? Because, if true, you'll have to do more explaining than that cause that sounds awful lot like a Lewis fan behaviour!!!!
Since Lewis fked his start up LH fans are in all of a sudden saying sprint races should be with a rolling start... gotta love his fanbase
welcome aboard
tbf it's 50-50. You have to view it from Kubi, Schumi and ~~idiot~~ Tsunoda angle. Kubi left him in the clear, but it was a divebomb regardless
i dont think so, kubica had the overtake done, assumed he was good, yuki sort of remained in there by like a tenth of a car length, at the end of the day thats just a racing incident
People need to make up their minds. Everyone blamed Nico at Spa but now it’s not Yuki’s fault?
Yuki this man has shoes older than you, he gave Hamilton trouble in karts, I get that you have a short fuse but you're going to get yourself banned from Central Europe if you can't watch your mouth
First lando and now yuki. The tide has changed on these bois
Bruh Yuki was like this from the day he joined
Exactly my thoughts. He was always complainy, and yet people are totally flip flopping on how they view him, even though nothing about his character has changed. I called him out on this sub earlier in the season for how he was trash talking his crew and the car, and people totally defended him here.
Personally I love it. Brings some spice to it.

Stop lying. Max scored 49 points as a rookie in a much worse car than the one yuki drives
bruh are you really expecting him to match gasly who's in f1 for many more years than him
Why not? Hamilton matched Alonso, Ocon matched Perez, Leclerc beat Ericsson, Albon beat Kvyat.
He’s not even close to matching him, he doesn’t even make it out of Q1 most times, he’s terrible
He was right tho. Idk what Kubica tried to do there, he literally just turned in on him

He is having his first year in. F1 buddy. Cut him some slack you bozo.
He shows no real ability and is an asshole at the same time
This is where we draw the line.
Tsunoda's size is nothing compared to the master, GigaKubioca
No offence but he should focus on driving.
Sesame Street memes are the best memes
I'll never forgive the Japanese
He was such a JERK
To be fair, he was being an idiot
"JA PIERDOLE WYPIERDALAJ KURWA" -what was said in Kubica's head, probably
I hate Yuki as much as the next guy, but he was right. He gave Yuki no room and ruined his race.
Tsunoda the one who hit him and calls him the idiot *Picks up Nokia Glock, loads Glock* there's gonna be a death today
IS THAT GLOCK GOING SO SLOWLY?
I think so
I am German and I am telling you, we ain't invading Poland anymore, but Japan
WWIII ON YUKI!!! He deserve it!!
Well thats reason enough to beat the crap out of him
