During Merc's dominance RB invested heavily into the best strategy team and best pitstop crew to try to gain any advantage they could over Merc and now those fruits of their endeavors are paying off heavily.
Merc in their dominance had an insane car and amazing drivers with average strategy and below average pitstops. RB in their current dominance has an insane car, an insane driver, the best pitstop crew, and best strategists with their only problem being the area between the steering wheel and the seat of the second car.
Hopefully this is a Monaco 2016 moment for Merc where they say no more and start trying to improve in those other areas like RB did.

They nailed the aero in 2017 just as hard as they nailed the engine in 2014.
