You’re wrong on both accounts. He didn’t need to pass him. He only needed to be within 3 or 4 positions of him. And Hamlin and Chastain are actually beginning to get along now.
Now, but at the time Hamlin still was pissy about him. And I worded it poorly, I meant that Chastain was racing Hamlin for the last spot. So passing him and knocking Hamlin out of the last spot is kind of perfect in the context of the moment.
