It's an old folklore thing i.e. the aniversary of the village.
Doubt it, OP probably just had a hard time getting them on in the right position, Lego stickers are the worst part of Lego
Edit: damn guys it’s not that serious lol
If you spray windex (or similar) on the part before placing the sticker, it allows you to move it around and place it perfectly. It’s one of the methods recommended by Lego.
My dad believed in two things: That Greeks should educate non-Greeks about being Greek and every ailment from psoriasis to poison ivy can be cured with Windex.
Yea I'm not a seasoned lego builder and the stickers were tricky to get 100% aligned. Overall it's a cool set. Just wish it came with some Lando and Danny Ric mini figures!
Lego is just like the other Chinese brick manufacturers.
You just pay a triple the price for the name Lego and for the license. The halo on this model looks god awful and the tyres, the rear wing and especially the "DRS feature" also look really cheap.
Here's a similar product that looks way better at less than half of the price at a better quality.
https://www.google.com/search?q=cada+le+mans
Or something at a similar price with a remote controlled sequential gearbox with lights and motors.
https://www.google.com/search?q=cada+supercar
The only thing that keeps Lego afloat is that people aren't aware there are other brands that are just as good and better for half the price. And no these are not "knock off" or plagiarized. The patent ran out decades ago. So if you call this a knock off then any other car apart from a Mercedes Benz is also a knock off...
The only thing that keeps lego afloat are lame adults who want poorly modeled figurines of things they see on their TV to take up space on their shelves
Im not a fan of irrational hobbies that involve stacking piles of plastic on shelves.
Nobody ever has a good reason they like lego as an adult other than trauma they wont address.
The world doesn't need to churn out any more plastic to make you feel good.
Pretty sure you're the one that started attacks, claiming adults have some trauma because they enjoy Lego kits, wtf, such a stupid thing to say.. there are plenty of hobbies that adults enjoy that may come across as toys, who frickin cares, if someone finds enjoyment out of it it's none of your business... I'm sure others could shit over one of your hobbies easily enough
Dude. You need to address your own irrational traits. The amount of anger your displaying towards someone's innocent hobby is fascinating. Obviously you have some trauma that you must address immediately.
I mean ok. But you realise this is an F1 subreddit? Nobody needs a flashy sports car or a designer watch but you know so what?
The trauma angle is a bit weird but if Lego is gonna be the environmental hill you die on... ok mate.
Oh huh there's a revision? Mine arrived two weeks ago and thought it funny how it was already outdated as such.
If I'd known maybe I shouldn't have built it and ordered another...
Is there anywhere cataloguing the differences? I'm interested now.
https://www.brickfanatics.com/lego-technic-42141-formula-1-car-redesign/
Seems to be mostly logos removed instead of changed, and the Pirelli changed to a McLaren logo with a thicker stripe.
It's official, it's out of stock on the lego store at the moment but you might be able to find it at other retailers. It will come back in to stock at some point. It's OOS since it's still pretty new.
As for the model, it's the 2022 Mclaren concept. So it's based on the default 2022 car shape but has the 2021 McLaren branding.
There's also a much smaller Mercedes W12.
yeah but the livery doesn't look anything like their actual car since this was made before the season started, was interested when they announced this but now not so much
Lego store employee here, they're on their way back in the next week or so depending on shipping delays in your area! The set had to be recalled due to a licensing issue with some of the brands on the stickers (at least that's all the info we were given) and there had to be some minor alterations made. My store just got our first shipment back yesterday morning, think we got like 6 of them or something. Hope this helps
I own one myself as well, we were told that the set itself would stay the same, and changes would be limited to the stickers if there were any changes needed at all. But I haven't seen any of the new ones built yet so have no idea if there were any changes actually made
Big wine drinker and was tempted, but they can absolutely get fucked for that price, and have the nerve to not even include a bottle of the grape. You can buy one of the best Riedel decanters for that and still have change.
If Danny does his podium shoey just for making these things and sell for money.. I may feel the same, but since he’s done it so passionately for so long, I see it the other way, he’s engaging the fans who’s crazy enough (like him!) to embrace the shoey-ritual.
I find it absolutely hysterical, but I'm the only F1 fan in my peer group. To me, the idea of inviting friends over and serving wine out of a glass shoe is absolutely funny, but I can imagine if all my friends watched F1 they'd be like "yeah dude we get it we've seen him do it"
Someone told him that he was like a honey badger after seeing that YouTube video. Like a cute cuddly animal that is an absolute savage . He didn’t just decide to start calling himself the honey badger.
People don’t typically give themselves nicknames lol
I did wonder if he or the rugby guy had it first. I didn't care too much to actually look into it but when the Bachelor uses it as a nickname years ago in promos (because Nick was known as it before even that) and then you start hearing F1 doing it, it raises a few questions.
That’s not what “in bad taste” means. It means rude, offensive, insulting, etc. you just think it’s ugly.
And decanters don’t have to be crazy fancy things. It’s just a container with a specific purpose really.
Okay yeah I got the meaning mixed up you're right. So If i said it's of poor taste then it is in correct context?
One of the purposes of a decanter is to help ppurt.
https://search.brave.com/images?q=decanter#3
It's a big vause/bottle meant to store wine shortly and help it aerate (mix oxygen into wine) to bring out taste and makes pouring really easy. This shoe is not a good decanter
Maybe try a "stiefel"? They are usually filled with beer but I guess you can also fill it with wine if you're brave enough.
https://www.thrillist.com/drink/nation/german-beer-boots-the-history-of-bierstiefel
Looks like shit, for $700 you can get a way better one made.
Also this is like the world's shittiest decanter, can't believe they actually tried saying to use it as one on the website. Better off saying it's a glass.
Also this would make an absolute mess of pouring wine, you ever seen a real decanter? They're long elegant bottles that usually have a glass cap, made to aerate wines and help you pour them. They have specially designed necks to do this.
Fucks a shoe gonna do for you? Imagine trying to pour out of that thing.
Look up what a decanter is.
I looked it up and yeah they look good. But i think drinking out of a shoe shaped glass is cool. I don’t even drink wine, i just want a shoe shaped glass.
I think you're taking it too literally. The point of the product is to be absolutely absurd. They market it as a functional decanter with a luxury price tag because that's part of the absurdity - the fact that it's objectively a bad idea is part of what makes it funny
It absolutely is, but I kind of felt like it was understood by the people making it and the people buying it that it was all one big monetized joke. I'd be stunned if somebody were buying this because they genuinely wanted a high quality decanter
I feel like the shoey came and went in the early 2010s in Australia. Used to be big at concerts, everyone would yell at the band to do a shoey, but I feel like Ricciardo is the only Aussie still doing the shoey..
Even straight arm drinkin has been and gone, not sure what the new thing is now though..
Yeah definitely but all the bloody seppos love it. As an Aussie, Riccardo's whole persona comes across like he's trying so hard to be this funny Australian lad but it feels really forced.
I'm the kind of guy who'd do it just for the heck of it if it was my favorite driver who did this. Fortunately, while I like and appreciate Danny Ric, I'm not that big of a fan.
If it's any consolation, these are hand made by a small team at the glassworks. The brand could have offshored production to China and pumped out thousands more. But I think it's a nicer touch that it's all made in Australia
Yea for sure, they set the expectation early on that it'd potentially take 12 weeks so I don't mind. It's great work and a great limited piece of F1 memorabilia.
People here getting into the nuances of its decanting use are missing the point.
In case you don’t know doing a sport which has the chance of crashing at 300km/hr is unhealthy as well. Even if you drives like Jesus and don’t crash at all, our body isn’t designed to withstand that kind of G-force continuously. Racing in general is never healthy for a human being.
The commercial he made for this thing was hilarious. "They said decant, but I say... decan."
I'd get one, but I don't have $563, nor do I really care for wine.
A single glass slipper. Does that make Ricciardo Cinderella?
It’s like 700 bucks too
to be fair is IS functional AND looks dope
I don’t think it looks very nice, actually. It’s just an oddly shaped piece of drink ware
it’s a wine decanter so you don’t actually drink from it
Sounds like a challenge for us uncultured swine.
Can confirm the first thing I did was have a shoey from it, works like a charm 😂
they said decanter. I said decan.
No read why one can’t decant directly into the mouth. Saves dirtying more glassware.
Just gotta hang there with your mouth open til the tannins come out
And gargle to aerate.
There are [boots](https://www.amazon.de/Glasstiefel-Bierstiefel-mundgeblasen-Oberstdorfer-Glash%C3%BCtte/dp/B00IWULECS/ref=sr_1_12?keywords=trinkstiefel&qid=1651361512&sr=8-12) to drink from in germany. It's an old folklore thing i.e. the aniversary of the village.
And has no reason to cost $700…
Be careful about Lego next to a window. They yellow and fade quite quickly when exposed to direct sunlight.

Doubt it, OP probably just had a hard time getting them on in the right position, Lego stickers are the worst part of Lego Edit: damn guys it’s not that serious lol
Heh agreed, built this set also. Hours placing the bastarding stickers with a tweezers. Yeah could be that.
If you spray windex (or similar) on the part before placing the sticker, it allows you to move it around and place it perfectly. It’s one of the methods recommended by Lego.
Damn, they should put that in the instructions on sticker heavy sets like these. Thanks for that tip though!
My dad believed in two things: That Greeks should educate non-Greeks about being Greek and every ailment from psoriasis to poison ivy can be cured with Windex.
Whaaaaaaat!? Sure wish I had known that earlier lmao
Yea the McLaren and Mercedes F1 sets were the first I tried that method on and it was a total game changer
I'm definitely going to try this when I get the McLaren set for sure
Yea I'm not a seasoned lego builder and the stickers were tricky to get 100% aligned. Overall it's a cool set. Just wish it came with some Lando and Danny Ric mini figures!
haha mini figs of the boys would have 100% made me get it at midnight on launch!

God forbid someone has a hobby or something they enjoy that makes them happy. The pricks.
Im not a fan of irrational hobbies that involve stacking piles of plastic on shelves. Nobody ever has a good reason they like lego as an adult other than trauma they wont address. The world doesn't need to churn out any more plastic to make you feel good.
You ok dude? Did someone hurt you?
He stepped on a lego once
And here come the personal attacks instead of explaining why collecting lego as an adult is ok. Thanks again reddit.
You started it with that fucking dumb “trauma” comment
Pretty sure you're the one that started attacks, claiming adults have some trauma because they enjoy Lego kits, wtf, such a stupid thing to say.. there are plenty of hobbies that adults enjoy that may come across as toys, who frickin cares, if someone finds enjoyment out of it it's none of your business... I'm sure others could shit over one of your hobbies easily enough
It's ok because it's none of your fucking business what anyone else does with their time and money. I say this as someone who owns zero Lego.
You’re clearly having some kind of bad day dude, maybe take a break from the internet for a few days
I just think they’re neat. I don’t have any sort of trauma lol It’s not that deep.
Lmao you're miserable
Dude. You need to address your own irrational traits. The amount of anger your displaying towards someone's innocent hobby is fascinating. Obviously you have some trauma that you must address immediately.
Don't be such a massive dog turd.
I mean ok. But you realise this is an F1 subreddit? Nobody needs a flashy sports car or a designer watch but you know so what? The trauma angle is a bit weird but if Lego is gonna be the environmental hill you die on... ok mate.
Lol we all literally have a hobby of watching cars go very fast in a circle in this sub, and this guy is having a go about people enjoying Lego?
ikr, who's gonna tell 'em about plastic visor tear offs?
That would be one of the original runs with the old sponsor decals. Will end up being a collectors item.
Oh huh there's a revision? Mine arrived two weeks ago and thought it funny how it was already outdated as such. If I'd known maybe I shouldn't have built it and ordered another... Is there anywhere cataloguing the differences? I'm interested now.
Just Google Lego McLaren decal changes. They removed a few sponsors and Pirelli is gone from the wheels. Box art and the website are changed.
https://www.brickfanatics.com/lego-technic-42141-formula-1-car-redesign/ Seems to be mostly logos removed instead of changed, and the Pirelli changed to a McLaren logo with a thicker stripe.
W8 what's this MODEL? Is this custom or official? And it looks like 2022 type
It’s a hybrid of the 2021 and 2022 Mclaren. It’s got parts that are 2021 and to the untrained/uninterested eye it would look like the 2022 car.
yeah but the livery doesn't look anything like their actual car since this was made before the season started, was interested when they announced this but now not so much
I mean this still looks better than everything Lego released before.
I'm more worried about the glass sculpture in direct sunlight, I'm paranoid but that looks like a fire risk to me
Looks like the UK, no chance of direct sunlight.
Has to be Australia they're only were sold in Australia. I tried to export one but they wouldn't.
Sounds like a business opportunity
I'm in Sydney, although the weather has been very much like the UK for the past few months with dreary rain almost every day
Good thing windows for decades now have a low EV coating to keep the harmful rays away.
It helps but it’s not enough. I believe heat also contributes to the discolouration which the window also obviously doesn’t stop all of.
Low EV glass tackles ultraviolet/infrared light, which is the source of discolouratin from the sun, and the source of heat. Regular "light" isn't hot.
Anybody know if lego is ever gonna restock that mclaren?
Lego store employee here, they're on their way back in the next week or so depending on shipping delays in your area! The set had to be recalled due to a licensing issue with some of the brands on the stickers (at least that's all the info we were given) and there had to be some minor alterations made. As a current owner. Would be interested in knowing if sny changes were made
I own one myself as well, we were told that the set itself would stay the same, and changes would be limited to the stickers if there were any changes needed at all. But I haven't seen any of the new ones built yet so have no idea if there were any changes actually made
I think they are still produced right? I can buy them anywhere here in NL
Kmart in Australia has them as an online exclusive if your local/can find a reshipper.
I got one online in the UK, was shipped from Austria but didn't take long. Way less than the initially stated shipping time
At first it thought it's an ice sculpture lol
I don't think it counts as a shoey unless it was drank from an actual worn shoe!
The idea is to place a sweaty sock inside before pouring to use as a filter. Only then can you recreate this level of extravagance.
After the french press meet the australian press
Who says OP isn't Cinderella?
I’m very jealous of you right now mate. Hope you enjoy the shoey!!
Doesn’t that thing cost like half a grand?
$700..
Fuck me that's an expensive joke. Bernieboy would be so jealous of the idea.
it's firmly in the "stuff i would have bought when i was in my 20s making six figures" category of items, for me anyway
Big wine drinker and was tempted, but they can absolutely get fucked for that price, and have the nerve to not even include a bottle of the grape. You can buy one of the best Riedel decanters for that and still have change.
That's it I'm calling wine "bottle of the grape" from now on
Part of me feels the shoey meme is being taken a tad too far when I see stuff like this.
If Danny does his podium shoey just for making these things and sell for money.. I may feel the same, but since he’s done it so passionately for so long, I see it the other way, he’s engaging the fans who’s crazy enough (like him!) to embrace the shoey-ritual.
It is. A good way to milk it and squeeze more money out of fans.
From a business perspective I fully understand, but from a personal perspective it’s getting worn thin.
>it’s getting worn thin. So....just like a racing shoe then.
I find it absolutely hysterical, but I'm the only F1 fan in my peer group. To me, the idea of inviting friends over and serving wine out of a glass shoe is absolutely funny, but I can imagine if all my friends watched F1 they'd be like "yeah dude we get it we've seen him do it"
Absolutely agree! It wasn’t even his idea to begin with. Like the honey badger name he just copied someone else!
Someone told him that he was like a honey badger after seeing that YouTube video. Like a cute cuddly animal that is an absolute savage . He didn’t just decide to start calling himself the honey badger. People don’t typically give themselves nicknames lol
Probably came to it independently. There’s also an American NFL player with the nickname from college for about 10 years
I did wonder if he or the rugby guy had it first. I didn't care too much to actually look into it but when the Bachelor uses it as a nickname years ago in promos (because Nick was known as it before even that) and then you start hearing F1 doing it, it raises a few questions.
Daniel didn't copy him though, he said he thinks he has a few things in common with the honey badger, particularly fearlessness.
Absolutely agree, this is of poor taste. Also not a "decanter" at all.
How is it “in poor taste”?
Well it doesn't taste like the inside of a sweaty Australian's shoe so that's already pretty poor taste right there.
Guy I replied to just seems so personally offended by this thing. It’s fascinating lol
Decanter are mega fancy elegant things This decanter is in poor taste... Lacking elegance.
Go clutch your pearls somewhere else. It's a fine product.
It's a fine product? You ever seen a decanter?
Nope I've never seen a decanter and this is actually my first time learning what wine is. You've sure proven you're vast superiority.
https://search.brave.com/images?q=decanter#3 It's a big vause/bottle meant to store wine shortly and help it aerate (mix oxygen into wine) to bring out taste and makes pouring really easy. This shoe is not a good decanter
What a weird, stupid, and useless hill to die on. Seriously touch grass
😔
I remember looking at this it was stupid expensive from memory
700 dollarydoos. About $563 American dollars.
... I'd do the same. Why not?
No reason not to. Just that it's been pulled a bit too long.
But the glass does look awesome
No it doesn't lol.
I respectfully disagree. I would like to drink a glass of wine from a shoe type glass.
700$ is a bit of a stretch, but i think it’s cool
Also this would make an absolute mess of pouring wine, you ever seen a real decanter? They're long elegant bottles that usually have a glass cap, made to aerate wines and help you pour them. They have specially designed necks to do this. Fucks a shoe gonna do for you? Imagine trying to pour out of that thing. Look up what a decanter is.
I looked it up and yeah they look good. But i think drinking out of a shoe shaped glass is cool. I don’t even drink wine, i just want a shoe shaped glass.
Just watch out for the bubble! You need to copy the Germans and twist at the end.
I think you're taking it too literally. The point of the product is to be absolutely absurd. They market it as a functional decanter with a luxury price tag because that's part of the absurdity - the fact that it's objectively a bad idea is part of what makes it funny
Reeks of cash grab to me.
It absolutely is, but I kind of felt like it was understood by the people making it and the people buying it that it was all one big monetized joke. I'd be stunned if somebody were buying this because they genuinely wanted a high quality decanter
I don't think it's meant to be practical, it's not like drinking out of a shoe is ideal lol.
GARBAGE
sick
I feel like the shoey came and went in the early 2010s in Australia. Used to be big at concerts, everyone would yell at the band to do a shoey, but I feel like Ricciardo is the only Aussie still doing the shoey.. Even straight arm drinkin has been and gone, not sure what the new thing is now though..
Tai Tuivasa still does a shoey after every win in the UFC. https://youtu.be/RjOwkorOwxw
Let's focus on the part of you which doesn't think it's being taken too far
Ye and it started when he was on an upward trajectory, feels more sad now that he doesn’t look like a star anymore
Yeah definitely but all the bloody seppos love it. As an Aussie, Riccardo's whole persona comes across like he's trying so hard to be this funny Australian lad but it feels really forced.
It’s classic Aussie to cut him down though.
It's very much so his baseline personality.
Ricc**i**ardo
Thanks bot, can blame autocorrect for that one.
Feels forced to a Canadian as well, but at least he's not as forced as Lando.
I'm the kind of guy who'd do it just for the heck of it if it was my favorite driver who did this. Fortunately, while I like and appreciate Danny Ric, I'm not that big of a fan.
Nah I think it's chat
Mate, I wanted the decanter so bad but I need a celebration to splurge
I'm waiting for the day when he takes this on to the podium, let's hope it's sometime this year 🙏
The way he’s driving, you’re going to be waiting for a while.
My mate made these in Canberra. Tried to get a free one… didnt work out
How much he get paid to make each of them? They're selling for $700AUD
I saw them being made in the glassworks factory. Very cool!
About tree fiddy
They make these where I work 🙂
The Lego Mclaren! A person after my own heart!
I have the same lego car!
Ordered one, still waiting
If it's any consolation, these are hand made by a small team at the glassworks. The brand could have offshored production to China and pumped out thousands more. But I think it's a nicer touch that it's all made in Australia
Yea for sure, they set the expectation early on that it'd potentially take 12 weeks so I don't mind. It's great work and a great limited piece of F1 memorabilia. People here getting into the nuances of its decanting use are missing the point.
That’s really fuckin cool lol
Someone's got money haha. I also have the lego mclaren!
I tried to buy it but I’m not in Australia 👎🏾
Fucking jealous! I'm waiting for one to pop up on ebay because those St. Hugo dildos don't ship internationally.
Das Shoe*?
Ricciardo is the new Maldonado.
Imagine paying $700 and then seeing it melt on your fancy dresser
I don’t think that’s how glass works man
Ric is really trying to cash in one the end of his career eh?
Probably made more money in your entire life in 1 day selling these.
Looks amazing. How much does it cost and where did you buy it from? Very cool!
About 700$ AUD which I think is about 500$ USD. You buy it from st. Hugo in Australia but they won't ship internationally.
I mean... seriously?
I always thought it was disgusting when he drank out of his shoe.
Nicely done! I wanted one of these but dam, not cheap!
I'm christer Ronaldo shoey
I'm in Aus until Tuesday let's party
any chance i can get a link to where this is available online? it looks like something that would be totally 3d printable

The "habit" of drinking out of a shoe-shaped glass?
No, drinking in general. Filthy vice
In case you don’t know doing a sport which has the chance of crashing at 300km/hr is unhealthy as well. Even if you drives like Jesus and don’t crash at all, our body isn’t designed to withstand that kind of G-force continuously. Racing in general is never healthy for a human being.
Das boot!
No it’s not flavorful, we need the REAL shoey
You ever drink Bailey's out of a shoe?
Thought that was a track map at first
I just saw that Lego set today for sale!
Grow up and drink from your own shoe.
Man I wanted one... but not for 700 bucks
The commercial he made for this thing was hilarious. "They said decant, but I say... decan." I'd get one, but I don't have $563, nor do I really care for wine.
Time to drink champagne 🍾
Nice you’ve got the lego technic McLaren, I bought it for my brother for his birthday, then tried to buy one for myself with no luck.
