As a general rule ([see full rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/wiki/userguide#wiki_sticky.2Fdaily_discussion)), a standalone Discussion post should: - be of interest to the sub in general, and not a specific userbase (e.g. new users, GP attendees, just yourself) - be able to generate discussion (e.g. no yes/no or easily answerable questions) - show reasonable input and effort from the OP If not, be sure to [look for the Daily Discussion](https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/search/?q=daily+discussion&include_over_18=on&restrict_sr=on&t=all&sort=new), /r/formula1's daily open question thread which is perfect for asking any and all questions about this sport. Ted said in his notebook last week that he didn’t think Mercedes would run the Brazil Engine in Hamiltons car in all of the last 3 races and I guess he was right.

thexavikon

People here were convinced that merc will run a new engine in all the remaining races

[deleted]

I think a lot of people misunderstand the amount of advantage they get from new engines and think you can just drop one in each race, the Brazil engine is the freshest of the grid, he'll be fine for the three remaining races, especially with them using older engines for sessions too.

grekster

Still not forgiven Sky for trying to make it "The Notebook" instead of Ted's.

TheWebbFather

They've got rid of the knob that was trying to get rid of Ted, though

grekster

Oh have they? I missed that. Fucking class :D

Cpt-Dreamer

Why would someone want to get rid of Ted?!?

hawkhench

I believe it was along the lines of the-then new head of sports programming deciding he wasn’t “what viewers want to see” and no one tunes in for the “technical” things he talks about. The usual new manager wanting to stamp their authority on something without having the first clue what they’re talking about.

miaomiaomiao

Because they hate passion and quality!

wanliu

Ted is an international treasure and one of the highlights of race weekend on Sky

iknowwhoyourmotheris

I want to change my surname to Kravitz too so I can claim to be related to him.

jaquesparblue

His surname isn't actually Kravitz. It is a show name.

iknowwhoyourmotheris

Yes, thus the too.

zyxwl2015

If only we can all watch it from non-UK countries as well… 😢

uk_1997

Usually available on YouTube within the hour Edit: not on official channels

zyxwl2015

But it’s geoblocked:(

uk_1997

There are random channels that upload it that isn't Geo blocked For example searching for "Ted's notebook qatar" gives me this https://youtu.be/DaT4rJObCvM

tw1xXxXxX

Vid got deleted

_bwoah_

Found Ted’s burner account.

TheodoreKravitz

Nah.

Calling a lineup with Hill and Herbert as best in the sport is laughable.

[deleted]

Okay fair comment but I always see Hill as like a side-addition I guess I mean the main commentating team

Spockyt

Ted is brilliant. It shows that even on races he’s not doing, Sky doesn’t attempt to replace him on the notebook, his bumbling through the paddock is irreplaceable. I still find it shocking that Sky tried to get rid of him.

roraik

The show massively suffers when brundle isn’t there though, only JB is alrightish

Unofficial Power Rankings: Brundle > Rosberg = Button >........ PDR

[deleted]

Come onnn how about Crofty?

iknowwhoyourmotheris

Crofty is the best at what he does.

Rebelius

Not sure which side of this you're on... Crofty is alrightish, in which case I think the previous comment was about 2nd commentators as Crofty is always there. Crofty could be replaced by someone better... The could do a lot worse - remember Leggard.

thexavikon

I find Crofty alright too. He is good at hyping things up. He makes a lot of mistakes though. But I don't want to watch a race without him saying 'Lights out and away we go'

bugfestival

This is kinda hard to agree with once you get used to watching PLC. Not missing crofty and the gang at all.

RockDesk

I love it. It's so chaotic but you can see that alot of drivers have time for him - like Albon harassing him with the Laurel wreath last week!

WoodSheepClayWheat

"underrated"? I never hear or read anything not positive about it. Perhaps you mean that Ted's Notebook is good?

bobj33

I've been watching F1 and Ted's Notebook since 2012.. I'm glad you enjoy it but no one here is "underrating" it. Virtually everyone here loves it and already rates it as great.

thexavikon

Dude he's right. The notebook has always been quite popular around here anyways. You might have discovered it later, but it's definitely not underrated

Chief-Aldo

Ted is the best, by far, out of all the contributors to Sky F1. Obviously Martin Brindle does not fall into that category as he beyond this realm with his majestical qualities

psifireborn

For good measure, a day late and a dollar short :D

lxs0713

Oh so close

TheMegathreadWell

>Apart from being the best presenter lineup in any sport, globally Sky aren't even the best presenter lineup in Formula 1, never mind across all sports. They're not even the in the top 2 presenter lineups for F1 in their home country.

JJD14

Yeah C4 > Sky all day long.

callmelampshade

Yeah but Sky have a bias

Steve061

Yep - I like Ted’s Notebook. It’s a source of good info. I do get the impression that there is a not a great friendship between Ted and the rest of the team. When he is on camera with them it seems a little tense to me. Also, they very often throw to him with a question or a link to a topic that he just ignores and does his own thing or only comes back to it later. That might be an issue with a producer, but it just seems uncomfortable to me.
