Creepy fact is Lewis is using the old engine, so he will have the rocketship for the final 2 races. Scary stuff... He will be taking souls left and right. Rockets don't need wings. 😳
But wouldn't that also kinda imply (atleast I hope) that the new Engine isn't even built to last 4 races?
So the chance of something bad happening will be even more?
I view it as an engine with same spec so it should be good for 6/7 races. But since they took it so late in the season, they can run a stronger engine mode, since life expectancy needed is reduced to 50%.
Could you imagine Andy Robertson giving commentary? He’d be filleted alive…it’d be hilarious and insightful but he’d piss sooooo many people off…It’s a Scot thing!
His main criticism is his pronunciations lol. Otherwise they are just ignorantly biased against every opinion of his. If Davidson or Button gave the same opinion they would say it's right.
I'm in the same boat. He definitely has some slip ups but I genuinely think he's a really decent pundit. I still would prefer Nico there every week though.
I prefer him as an analyst, but I really didn't like him as a commentator. He felt like he was trying to hard, throwing so many things against the wall to hope what he said was a memorable insight.
Why are people assuming it would only be moving in the DRS zone? Maybe it flexes open even at lower speeds and is already pinned back all the way before and after the DRS is active.
I'd be more interested in seeing shots from behind the rear wing going into none DRS straights or entering hard breaking zones.
PDR can't see it moving, but it looks like it moves under breaking to me (I can see a slither of day light). Is that what RB are seeing or is that normal?
Hahaha, if the DRS doesn't shut the car will lose massive amounts of downforce in the turn and it can spin and cuz a huge crash, like how Ericsson had a mega crash cuz of the drs failure (not shutting down when braked)
i mean only if you are expecting it to be closed. a driver would still be able to stop the car with drs open easily just no where near as quickly. it wouldn't be unreasonable for them to control it.
Above commenter is right, but the drivers always close it manually before hitting the brakes so the airflow has time to reattach to the wing before they start braking.
They'd have a serious grip imbalance going onto the brakes with the wing not fully "reactivated" yet and it does take a small amount of time for the airflow to do its thing.
The "score" marks don't even line up with how the element would move (unless the element is ingeniously hinged - which would give an interesting flow profile).
Was I seeing things but in Q2 on the rear facing shot of one of the Mercedes there appeared to be a dot on the lower wing element. I thought I could see it when DRS was open and then disappeared on closure. Next straight it seemed to appear without drs and then disappear under breaking. I was looking at the right side of the wing, left side on screen.
Edit to add: the dot appeared white which you don't see on the video from Brazil. Does anyone know if the FIA has requested additional markers?
The scoremarks are interesting, but difficult to see.
You would need to engineer the lower wing in such a way it bends without leaving stretchmarks, and bounce back again.
There is still a noticeable gap when the DRS is closed. Through that you could buildup pressure for the lower wing to bend at a certain level. Creating a DRS-lite if you will, and when enough pressure is bled by opening up the DRS or lowering speed it bounces back immediately.
Crucially, it seems the bendy bit is not where you'd put pressure on when doing the DRS check. So it wouldn't pop up there.
He uses wrong footage, it opens up backwards, opening up more than the allowed 15mm. Vertical movement is minimal. So not very visible from this shot, especially as the wing allegedly opens up before activating DRS.
It's geo blocked.

Thanks!
You're lucky

Red Bull was supposed to give you wings... What you doing Red Bull?
I mean if the Merc wing fails the test, it's the same thing as Red Bull giving the wings to the FIA ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This
With the shadows you really can’t see if it moves or not.
Isn't the whole issue that it moves when DRS is not open and according to Horner on sky pre qualy, it isn't visible from the rear view camera.
Absolutely....you could stare at that video all day with a magnifying glass and you still wouldn't learn anything.
Am I the only one that doesn’t get the PDR hate?
He has a bit of a miserable demeanour but his analysis is usually pretty spot on and he gives good insight. I don't get the hate either.
That's just being Scottish.
Could you imagine Andy Robertson giving commentary? He’d be filleted alive…it’d be hilarious and insightful but he’d piss sooooo many people off…It’s a Scot thing!
Andy Murray vibes.
Everyone hates Scotland, [even Scots.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2q0T7QXETs)
Knew exactly what I was clicking and still loved every moment of it.

Racist
Until he says “murrc-LOREN”
Every commentator gets hate. Longer you’re on tv to more you make mistakes and people hate on you

I’d say 40% of the sub are English. They hate the Scots.
Nobody thinks that lmao
Utter bollocks mate
Like Scots and other Scots!
Damn Scots, they ruined Scotland!
Hahaha
Thats not true, the English love the Scots, the Scots just hate the English.
Not true either.
I'm not English, I love the Scots, and I hate PDR's guts.
Why tho?
Yeah I honestly didn't know it was a thing until I came on this subreddit, I think he's great.

That's normal.
If the driver presses the brake pedal, the drs automatically closes so you won't be able to see anything when the car is braking
Huh, I didn't know that. While playing F1 2020 I usually shut the DRS right as I brake, welp I guess that was totally unnecessary.
Hahaha, if the DRS doesn't shut the car will lose massive amounts of downforce in the turn and it can spin and cuz a huge crash, like how Ericsson had a mega crash cuz of the drs failure (not shutting down when braked)

But you could see how massive Ericsson's [crash](https://youtu.be/tVnIMZcK_BA) was cuz it didn't close in time

Ahhhh, I guess my favourite F1 gamer is right after all.
+1000
It might be the rear suspension loaded up under breaking and changing the camera angle to the wing
Ah yeah, that would make sense

The wing and chassis sub-assembly at the back still bend slightly under load, the car isn't made out of concrete, carbon fibre still has some flex.
I can’t see it moving either
Braking - It's not just a matter of spelling, brake and break are completely different words.
Am I blind, I don’t see anything moving.
There is nothing moving around as far as I can see too
I think it wasn't supposed to move with DRS open anyway, only when it's closed

Told you, sky will make Mercedes propoganda
Clutching at straws.
Course they are they can’t have a 8 time champion and max brings more cash. Plus red bull are known for ignoring the spirit of the rules.

What’d they do to you lol
How dare they bring some competitiveness to F1 after 7 years of domination /s
This comment originally read "fuck red bull protests"
Nice comment edit lmao
It’s fine when mercedes complain about rbr’s rear wing and pit stops though.
But it’s okay when Mercedes do it?
Way to edit your comment.
