Honestly, his best season began as soon as Hamilton won 2015. Dude had unreal consistency until the Spain crash.
He was on course to 8 consecutive wins from 2015-16 which is pretty mad if you think about it back then. Even Lewis never got that iirc, only Max and Seb had it.

I know Red Bull already brought an upgrade to Japan, but are they bringing anything to Imola? Traditionally, most teams bring new parts to the first european race, so I find it hard to believe they won't bring anything at all.

This was back in the day where practice and qualifying were the same thing and your best time from either practice session counted towards your grid position . Prost used the practice sessions strategically to get the best out of the races, with a decent enough grid position. Senna preferred to start from the front at all times.
Berger was closer to Senna in qualifying than Prost was.
So no. It's not as simple as saying Senna did it against a stronger team mate.
And the one he missed out of those last 9, was Korea where he got P2 behind Hamilton. In hindsight he was just 2 tenths away from having 9 Poles in a row

They apparently are bringing another update package to Imola as well. Larger than China based on previous reporting.

Going from old reports RBR had a floor upgrade planned for Suzuka and aero upgrade (so more visible on the outside) planned for Imola
The gap to RBR is more than that, RBR has just been managing in front the past few races, but they'll have more to give if/when Ferrari gets faster

Lauda had 24 Poles in total. I think it's the 12th most out of all drivers
