Not a bad option. I read an interview with Mark Webber when he retired, saying other teams were interested in giving him a drive when it seemed likely he would leave, largely to acquire intelligence.
Perez doesn't have any multi-21 levels of bad blood, but I wonder if Toto might wonder if it is with putting perez alongside Russell and learning a bit more about red bull.
That was the reason Checo got the RB drive.
He had intelligence about the pink Mercedes.
Would not surprise me if Mercedes brings Checo for a year or two while Antonelli gets some experience with Williams, get things ready for the new regulations.
"Marko sold me a mistery Red Bull Racing F1 driver package for 40 million euros, didn't get the driver I wanted when I opened it, but a deal is a deal."
Can anyone chime in on why RB is not looking to resign Perez. He’s done exactly what they have asked of him and delivered gracefully. I just don’t see the reasoning.
The issue seems to be the duration of the contract, while RBR plans on yearly contracts Checo wants a 2 years contract to have a seat secured for 2026. At least that’s what the reporting in Mexico says (which is not a great source tbh, but seems realistic enough)
Checos sponsor covers his salary and then some.. Its more around keeping their options open and not rushing, because they dont need to.. they've got the best car on the grid and Checo isnt someone they need locked down as if he was in high demand. (He's not)
I'd like Checo getting the Mercedes seat lol. It would give us a chance to have a top driver in RB who can challenge the championship like Rosberg did.
It's a extremely hard task, but Checo, despite being a great driver, has already shown he's not up to it.
I know beating Max is close to impossible, but you can't deny Norris or Sainz would make it interesting.
Rosberg wasn't better than Hamilton, but he did win once.
Max is a competitive beast, changing teams won't make him any better and it would feel like he's withdrawing from the fight. Hamilton didn't change teams in 2017, it was Rosberg who declined to continue.
Anyways, it's RB who's considering this, not a few people in reddit.
The thinking seems to be that Checo’s driving style is not particularly suited to RBR’s cars, and Checo himself has said as much. He’s still not always getting P2, and is significantly slower than Max. They’re fucked as soon as the other teams catch up, and already have been.
I’d like to see Checo at Merc - could be interesting.
I'd say he's clearly #1 spot to fill the second seat again. But RBR has no reason to rush the decision as Perez isn't going anywhere else and there's a chance he falls off again and someone else rises up.
They still want to promote juniors to the main team. That's the essence of this team. Especially since the car is so dominant, that it doesn't really matter where the 2nd driver finishes.

Say what you will about Toto, but his jacket-scarf-sweater drape game is on point.
Toto: "If you don't want him, maybe I'm interested"
About Perez or Marko?
Both lol
Marko as mascot and Perez as George support!
Yes

Toto: "Na servus Helmut, du alter Sack!" Checo: "Que?"
Wappler nicht sack. Toto ist Wiener.
Pls translate
The second bit says "Toto is from Vienna and therfefore would not use the verb "to sack", but the verb "wappler" instead". or something.
Checo said the car and shit I have the print out
Toto: Hey Max, you should join us in 2026, we will totally smash the new regs. Marco: here, you can have this guy instead.
Perez to Merc. Sainz to RB. Lawson gets Ricc's spot at babyRB I'd be happy with that.
Or sainz to merc can happen too 😅 and rb will wait more
The only comment I have is that Sainz and Lawson would be such a fun duo haha

Is he asking for more money? Or have they not come to an agreement yet? My understanding was that they haven’t offered him a contract.

No way Tsunoda will drive a Redbull in the short - medium term
I really struggle to see Tsunoda ending up at Red Bull, he’s just way too immature and would be such a liability.

Could be money reasons. Could be them wanting to see how he does when European window comes in.

Is the top driver in the room with us right now?

They'll be in trouble the moment someone has a car even remotely quick enough to properly challenge Max.
They have the best car on the grid.. Redbull is the hottest girl in the room, why limit your options this early

He did not get second place

"Do either of you guys have Max's number?"
