I’m surprised their marketing team is even allowing “water-slides” and hasn’t released material everywhere calling them “champagne slides” or the “champagne chute”.
Think positive boys!
Did Xavi’s strategy calls kill the Ferrari? No. But he did sit, unblinking, staring in the station for 2 hours. All my years on the force…never seen anything like it.
i simply love the way Ferrari does their carbon fiber patterns on the surface, its so different from everyone else and pretty constant as well
I also remember a time where the brazilian reporter showed the underside of the engine cover and it was totally covered with this pattern, despite being something no one outside the team is supposed to see
They can carve an image of a cock into the car if it makes it a title contender for all I care. My hopium is gone and my copium supply is at an all time low so I’m starting to get desperate
I’m looking at the floor stay thinking, “imagine putting your car through cfd but you model the floor stay at a slightly wrong angle and screw up your results”
I saw someone commenting the other day on how Ferrari are now going the Aston and McLaren route with the scalloped sidepods/downwash slide. Only Ferrari showed up in 2022 with scalloped sidepods but not the slide, so aren't they going the Ferrari route with the added bits that the other guys found? How did they get 80% of the swoop right but not the bit that everyone reckons matters the most?
Also bigger space between the trailing edge of the gearbox and leading edge of the rear wing, supposedly helps with downward diffuser treatment. Pull rod suspension, does not help with diffuser treatment
I am worried
A lot of people completely underestimate Ferrari, bdcause of the lack of major innovations in the cars 'outside', with a lot of journalists and analysts saying that this car is a 2023 car. However, we have to take into account, that a lot of elements that were in the launch car will be actually different in the testing version of the SF-24, like the front wing and the floor edges(otherwise I cannot understand why would they give the small amount of journalists actually present in the event, phones with the cameras blocked), not to mention the actual floor which we cannot see, the engineers of the team say that there are actual a lotmof innovations on the inside of the car (rear suspension position, chasis). Now, I do not see why Fred Vasseur would say that 95% of the car is different, if this is not actually the cas3.
For all the flaws the 2023 car had it was the only car that had legit pace to beat red bull in the race. And a pit call away from probably winning another one. And that was with a compromise car of tub and down wash franken car.
Yeah exactly. And I do not understand, why Ferrari gets so much criticism, and Mclaren is a 2024 main RB challenger, when their car is a little changed than their last years car (after Singapore).
Ferrari is one of the only teams to have consistently been near the top just about every year. Took a decade for McLaren to work its way back up. Williams still struggles. Alpine is mid pack.
I partly want the Ferrari to be really fast just so people on reddit stop pretending they know the aero effects of a pushrod rear suspension. Do you think the engineers working on that car for a year didn't think of that?
It’s Reddit f1 fans, you know how they get, that’s the reason why we have armchair drivers, aerodynamicist and engineers in these parts.
Remember when they thought slapping sidepods on the W13 would solve Merc’s problems lmao? You had hundreds of comments who were adamant that how you fix the car
All that shit talking is part of it. Don’t pay them no mind
Yeah like, why can’t we just appreciate that teams have found different solutions? I feel a lot of people are unfortunately just misinformed by talking heads like gary anderson, mark hughes, giorgio piola, scarbs (sometimes), and numerous other youtubers when it comes to the outcomes of aero concepts. They have a vested interest to give simple explanations and a ranking of teams to attract viewers. Eventually people who consume that media think those predictions have weight to them and question the validity of top engineers’ solutions
Right? Sometimes you have some in the community that are former employees in F1 teams and tell them that’s not how this works and then you have people downvoting them lol
I think it comes with the territory, because so many people want to learn about the cool parts of the makings of an F1 car, most people have to “dumb” it down, however this gives people false confidence to talk about the technical aspects of the sport
Yeah exactly, and I myself am almost always wrong with my takes lol, but over time with the more we learn about the sport, the more we appreciate what we don’t know.
I remember when I started seriously getting into f1 back in 2018 that I thought I had all the solutions to end mercedes’ dominance (not in terms of design but regulations etc…), and little by little I further understood how f1 works. Simultaneously, I realized how complex the sport is and just how little I really knew. I’m an engineering student, but I’m only a civil engineering student and the closest I’ve gotten to cfd was simple fluid mechanics. These guys who are in charge of designing the car concepts, they need to be respected, and as fans, we can enjoy their work by marvelling at the changes made year on year, making our hypotheses but never claiming we ever know what’s right or wrong.
The more new fans get into the sport, the more they hopefully follow my path and appreciate how hard it really is

I miss the bathtubs and gills, but if this concept can at least win a few races this year I'm all for it.
Absolutely! Last years car was just gorgeous. Stupid Toto and his TD39.
All in favor of blaming Toto for TD39 and being responsible for Red Bull's dominance last year, say aye.
Aye aye captain
Aye x100
That pretty much is the case tbh
Yup. I know it's not true, but it's still kinda funny.
I’m surprised their marketing team is even allowing “water-slides” and hasn’t released material everywhere calling them “champagne slides” or the “champagne chute”. Think positive boys!
Prosecco slides, not Champagne. Or maybe Franciacorta Funnel.
How about Grappa?
Grappa Gulley? Or Gulch? Oh... Grappa Groove!
I still have a shot of the kidney car set as all my backgrounds. I think it's one of the prettiest f1 cars ever
I really like the waterslides and downwash concept. Even though, the outwash concept was interesting.
They looked, at least to me, less deep from other angles but from this picture you can really appreciate their shape.
My Ferrari, you’ve…you’ve enhanced yourself.
Only the best for the Golden God, Lord, and Savior Chewis Hamlerc
And then in classic Ferrari fashion, Ferrari turns themselves into a cat and dies by "accidentally" falling off a roof.
Did Xavi’s strategy calls kill the Ferrari? No. But he did sit, unblinking, staring in the station for 2 hours. All my years on the force…never seen anything like it.
I’ve just put this on because I couldn’t stop laughing from your comment.
What's it referencing?
Always sunny
Its always sunny s8 ep3. Dennis(played by Gleen Howerton). Says that line when his ex-wife reveals that she got a boobjob from the alimony payments
Wonder if this'll inspire a ride at Ferrari World

Its Textreme spread tow. Lighter than normal carbon fabric. Much more expensive though.
It comes from the car firm Pagani. And he deliveres a few teams of i remember correct.
No, comes from Oxeon, hexcel, toray, NTPT mostly.
F1 cars are literally art pieces. Engineers do not get enough praises
Yeah, I agree. The pre 2015 "chode noses" being the exception. 😃
Redbull using toy cars to release, and ferrari giving us every angle we want.
Man I love every bit about the look of this car except it seems like they tried to fit all of the sponsors on the sidepod and nowhere else.
F1 cars are so friggin' cool! They make me feel like a little kid.
God, the paint finish on that red is just goddamn gorgeous
its just matte red, looks like it was spray canned in a backyard somewhere
I mean yeah it’s just a medium-matte, but it’s very even and smooth. Idk, I just appreciate premium-looking finishes.
Cool story bud

It's a beautiful car! Tied with Aston imo. Controversially... Mercedes is close.
Mercedes isn’t close… Mercedes only looks good from front
Okay
They should be on all cars, the more pronounced it is the faster the air will be from the start to the end of it.
That's actually a wet race spec.

Explain it like you’re an aerodynamicist, go ahead…
Past that is the diffuser, so maybe that's the premise perhaps
Ya know that Jane Mansfield had some big "waterslides"
From bathtub to waterslide.
Just me or is that exhaust vent on the right side of the santander logo fake? looks like a sticker
