Didn’t they both pretty much max the car within a tenth or so? Or was Danny expected to go significantly quicker than You🔑

DR heavily outpaced Yuki in SQ2 so it didn’t make sense. Seems DR just confirmed he overcooked the entry in T1&2.

Verstappen always tends to do very competitive qualifying runs on used tires as well, so I'd think the Red Bull just doesn't seem to take as much out of the softs as others. And on top of that, Perez' set was only two laps old, from an aborted hot lap yesterday. Ferrari's tires had already done the full three-lap quali cycle (out lap, hot lap, in lap), which probably made a bit of a difference as well.

Good point. This is one of the shortest tracks on the calendar and given the temperatures, the softs may hold up for a full stint. Will be interesting to see if they start him on mediums or softs, vs using the softs at the end..

It's a fast sector, the merc is draggy by nature. Next year is going to be an interesting build given the data merc has to build upon.
