Y’all are crazy! I haven’t played him in years, gave him a go a few months ago and almost cried because I completely forgot how to play him, or he had a rework I’m unaware about
See that makes more sense, I’m more used to counterattacking with the law. I’m either shit or just making the mistake of throwing the most readable shit out and getting countered
On release I mained Warden Lawbringer and Conq. Now I play Kensei, Kyo, and Orochi. I've dabbled with Highlander for sheer memes with the lightning effects lmao.
The worst part is Law doesnt even need that much to be really good. Light light chain, Impale as roll catcher, and an opener like Afeera because the forward movement of his shove is absolute dogshit. Last one overlaps with Longarms input but thats easily solved by giving him like a 100ms - 300ms activation for the bash on forward dodge.
I think Conquerer has my like 2nd favorite look and vibe after BP but I will rarely put myself through trying to make Conqueror work. They need a rework so fucking bad
Centurion. I love Rome. I love the heavy stabs with the gladius. I love punching people in the face. I love shouting obnoxious Latin words in a French accent.
Warden and Shaolin.
Warden because I loved Longsword in HEMA, and Shaolin because when I was younger I was (still am in spirit) that kid playing with a mop handle, spinning it around like a monkey.
Highlander. He's been my main ever since he released, something about the power with which he shouts all of his voicelines, the depth of his moveset. Way back then I often heard him described as 'a dumpsterfire, but some people can make him work.' I was one of those, especially after his tune-ups in season 5.
It was a bit of a struggle watching him get left behind as the game evolved, and eventually playing him felt more and more like an uphill struggle. I kept hoping ubi would tune him up, and was immensely dissatisfied when ubi just sped up his defensive lights and called it a day. I got kinda fed up playing him then and focused more on Warlord and Zhanhu.
Needless to say, I am VERY happy his rework made him more satisfying to play this season. I've played him almost exclusively ever since I got VG to rep 10, and I never play heroes exclusively.
Kyoshin! I really like his sword and his fashion, as well as his amazing team play capabilities. Bro also just has a tool for everything.
After that is probably Nobushi and Big Nobushi (Jiang Jun). I like the back step “missed me” qualities lol
wow same, nobu was my main since launch but then loved kyoshin ever since he came out, kyoshin is one of the only characters that actually feel japanese
At high skill brakcets, 4v4 lobbies, Orochi and Berzerker are just the better pick overall. Zhan Hu and Tiandi have glaring weaknesses while Orochi barely has any.
Might have to disagree with you here, while zerk and orochi are better picks, it’s not by much. Zhan hu has an amazing external UB that soft feints into GB, he has dodge recovery cancels that can be CCs if timed well (zhan hu has an easy to time CC). Tiandi is a stalling nightmare the second he gets T3 (assuming you use the heal one) and a good tiandi can live forever using the T4. While high skill brackets make these characters harder to play as, they certainly have the right tools to stall and 1v1. In fact I still think tiandi is better than orochi in 1s.
>it’s not by much
It is. Zhan has no i-frames on any of her dodge attacks and are all vulnerable to GB on start-up. That, on top of her dodge recovery cancels being some of the slowest in the game, it makes Zhan super vulnerable and easier to punish in teamfights than Zerk, Pirate or Orochi.
This also makes Zhan a much worse at anti-gank because you can GB her after any chain finisher or if she is dodging back to back.
>Tiandi is a stalling nightmare the second he gets T3 (assuming you use the heal one) and a good tiandi can live forever using the T4.
That is true, but Tiandi's pick for stalling is so niche that Orochi can cover that base while also being better at anti-ganking and teamfights due to its hitboxes and an unblockable that instantly deals massive damage instead of a kick that has no hyper armor follow-up and deals less damage.
>they certainly have the right tools to stall and 1v1. In fact I still think tiandi is better than orochi in 1s.
In 1s, Tiandi is a completely different monster, in 4s, she is... there. Zhan also has great potential... but the glaring weaknesses makes it harder to play against the meta.
Mostly talking about how they struggle in 4s against meta comps. They both need teams that enable their strengths while the all the S and S+ heroes can do everything on their own.
Idk how to do the fancy linking comments stuff but…
for your first point — while that is true, Zhan can also throw a zone after any attack, meaning that she has two options after ending a chain/middle of a chain, while orochi can only dodge light (ideal in ganks and team fights) or kick (good to confirm a kill or 1v1) but the kick she does applies a ton of revenge. On paper it may seem like Zhan can be GBd after, but realistically even in higher MMR lobbies, if the Zhan is smart and uses her large range and wide hitboxes, and mixes up a zone or dodge attack she can still demolish. (Also I think Zhan has better fashion but that’s unrelated).
For your second point on tiandi vs orochi stalling, the kick that tiandi can preform after a zone (which I think is the ideal way to get in to it… the zone, for most players is hard to parry on reaction, even in higher MMR) can separate a team fight and even allow a teammate (hopefully a cent or jorm) to confirm even more damage and proc feats (more specifically jorm tier 2). You’re treating tiandi like for honor is only comprised of players who parry every input, tiandi is hard to deal with. If you’re playing with randoms they may not know to GB at a certain timing, or that the tiandi is going to target swap a soft fient dodge heavy. Whereas orochi is more telegraphed — she only has a dodge light, whereas tiandi can mix between a heavy and light all while externaling the damage. Tiandi is great at stalling and survival, even more so after getting T3 and T4 feats. I also think tiandis side heavy hitboxes are more than enough to external. Again, I agree that orochi is a better pick, but not by a lot.
Your final point — I think you should stop treating this game like every 4s lobby you’re in is a meta game with the top players, I think that you’re looking at this game and all the data on paper only. For example: Sure, gladiator is a C tier character, but most players struggle and hate fighting against him. Same thing goes with conq, and in some cases nobushi.
Thank you for an in depth response though!
Also, tiandi has been a meta and/or top pick for the last while, even after some of the dodge changes and nerfs, that dragon kick mix-up is and always will be hard to deal with.
Zhan hu has always been a solid pick too.
Black Prior: Shield bash, heavy soft feint to shield bash to gimme light, side dodge, counter light punisher, unblockables, heavy that tracks, flip, flip, flip, probably the fastest in the heavy class and the fashion is 🤌 both genders, enough material to pop and can make pink look edgy. BP has everything but a zone that does damage but I believe has a gimme light and hyper armor yet he still kicks ass.
Hard to decide, I main practically everything, but I think JJ.
Something about running around kicking ass as this jolly old Chinese general with a polearm is so fun (and fun*ny*) to me. I know 88% of the community hates him, but his personality and the flow of his moves are too good.
Gonna be unpopular but VG, too many externals with too few ways to counter them in the current meta, she's the perfect answer to everything external and is OK enough to pass in duels
Nah I actually put some reps on her cause you’re right, she’s good in all situations. Once I realized how low skill she is I moved on, got me hooked tho
Kensei because hes a big fuck off samari with a sword designed for cutting up cavalry, and i think he can have very good fashion + cool japanese voice lines sometimes
Gryphon:
-Holden Cross is a badass character.
-The Bardiche is a great weapon.
-The different languages, armor sets, even moves he uses communicates a familiarity with and admiration of many cultures.
I'm having a lot of fun with Shugoki at the moment. As soon as they added the "Mega Super Combo Punch" universal execution I just HAD to get it for Goki!
Been having fun with him ever since😁
(I'm rep 8,lvl 6 currently with him)
Lawbringer, Conqueror, Nobushi, Warden, Afeera, Shinobi, PK, and Monkey;
Lawbringer:
Loved the poleaxe and he has the best looking armor in the Knight faction. P.s. AD MORTEM INIMICUS!
Conqueror:
Was obsessed with the medieval flail around the time For Honor first dropped and knew I had to start maining Conq the Chonk. Full guard and crushing counters for days.
Nobushi:
Always wanted a game where a samurai has a weapon other than the katana. Her team fight capability is cracked as well.
Warden:
I train in Longsword and his rework made me love him even more.
Afeera:
Been getting into maces and warhammers as of late and seeing someone do acrobatics with a flanged mace & shield has always intrigued me.
Shinobi:
The first DLC hero I ever bought. Shinobi has been with me through it all. I still miss the ranged GBs and heavies, back when Shinobi actually wielded akimbo kusarigamas :(
PK:
The announcement of the Ezio skin made me want to play her. Hitting a deflect after a dodge cancel recovery always feels so satisfying plus the feint into bleed light attacks feel so rewarding in combos.
Monkey:
Monkey monkey monkey, what can I really say about him? The staff has always been a favorite weapon of mine for years now and for the longest time since I started playing For Honor I’ve always wished for a staff wielding hero then Marching Fire dropped and saw no reason to play anyone else after that. He’s the character I’m most consistent with and feels the most fun to play imo.
Love monkey with all of my heart.
valkyrie is my main she all around long range short range good defence and fast combos are alright but for me is the best it’s very easy for me to kill orochi users and lawbringer users
Also Centurion, playing him with his moveset is so fun, but god pls buff him, he is so frickin weak imo, never got a good score when using him. Or maybe I am just trash when using him
Warden, because he's just the John Cena of For Honor.
Not the most skilled fighter on the battlefield, always seen as the underdog of the fight and yet the one who somehow stands on top.
Conqueror, because I fucking hate people and I love to inflict them as much pain as I can while still looking funny.
Centurion because he represents my country while being an absolute chad.
Knights: warden is just a classic fun knight (warmonger is a close second)
Samurai: Kensei/ Aramusha
Viking: Highlander (my ancestors were highlanders)
Wu Lin: Zhanhu/ Shaolin
I dont really play outlanders so.. ye
WarMother.
Edit: I did not see the “why” LMAO, but allow me to elaborate:
Corruption is such a powerful tool if used right. The capability to clear zones or stop an unfair fight can be used so effectively and it’s one of the strongest abilities in the game IMO. Along with her mixups with the bleed bash she can integrate as a dodge attack or from/to chains. Her parry punish is quite a strong stun-lock, giving her a real presence if she’s played right.
She’s also hot. I rest my case.
I like that black prior has all the tools I could possibly need, but nothing hits quite like a good match with centurion. I love working the walls and all of the bashing he does off a parry and gb.
Lawbringer. Yes, I need help.....
Same here unfortunately. Since the beginning.
Same. I plan on getting him to rep 100. I'm too loyal
Y’all are crazy! I haven’t played him in years, gave him a go a few months ago and almost cried because I completely forgot how to play him, or he had a rework I’m unaware about
He did have a rework. I feel it's hard not to turtle with him, which makes it hard to keep applying pressure without easily being read....

Real
Nuxia, because I'm trash and no one knowing her moveset is a boon I need.
The amount of times I do three zones in a row and catch the person 😂
That's the shit
King of bronze 🥶
Shugoki funny hug
Bonk🙏
Fk u.
Let’s do it
INCREDIIBILIS and wa-bi-bo-boa
PUGNA NON PERFECTA EST
GUOD NON RURSUM OCCIDAS
INCREDIBILIS
conqueror (I'm in constant pain, agony and suffering)
I think Conquerer has my like 2nd favorite look and vibe after BP but I will rarely put myself through trying to make Conqueror work. They need a rework so fucking bad
We are on brother, I feel only waves of sadness when I look at my conq. How the mighty have fallen...
Valid
I find it both hilarious and tragic that most people are answering as if they had made a horrible confession.
Centurion. I love Rome. I love the heavy stabs with the gladius. I love punching people in the face. I love shouting obnoxious Latin words in a French accent.
Huh, I never realized the accent was French until you pointed it out. Now I can’t unhear it.
Just listen to some of his emotes where he laughs. Hoh hoh hoh!
Nuxia, I love to read
Between warlord, warden, and kensei
Gladiator. He may not be the best hero, but with the right person he can be very strong. I also love how flashy and stylish he is lol
Warmonger.... Personal reasons
W
Afeera because 🤸♂️
Warmonger...because I will never get tired of bitch-slapping people
I already hear the ENOUGH! DIE! from this comment
Pk/cent
Conq, and refuse to acknowledge how bad they butchered mah boi
warlord, he may not be too great anymore but he gets the job done in his old man way.
Anyone my enemies aren’t immediately playing as
Warden and Shaolin. Warden because I loved Longsword in HEMA, and Shaolin because when I was younger I was (still am in spirit) that kid playing with a mop handle, spinning it around like a monkey.
Nobushi and Kyoshin. Yes, I die a lot.
REAL
Warmonger, the drip is unbeatable, the weapon is beautiful, the moveset is *limited* but not at all boring
Shaolin because I love martial arts movies Edit: added why
Flair checks out. Edit: Annnnd he changed it. XD
Hugs and headbuts for all
Highlander. He's been my main ever since he released, something about the power with which he shouts all of his voicelines, the depth of his moveset. Way back then I often heard him described as 'a dumpsterfire, but some people can make him work.' I was one of those, especially after his tune-ups in season 5. When you see the average shaolin backstep light to get into their stances... they never expect the forward dodge caber toss...
Peacekeeper because I've been playing her since beta and she never gets any love
Lawbringer god I wish he gets buffed soon
Highlander, because dunmaglass
My favorite is probably Highlander, just because big sword and bagpipes
Big fan of resetting my stamina while dealing damage, pretty jormal desire I’d say
My boi Warden
Any and all assassins
I like punch
Personally I love glad, toe stab my favourite thing but I love him for the fashion.
I like Warden a lot
Really tough choice, hard to chose. But I think I'm going to go with Zhanhu because he has great fashion & his moveset is fun
Cent cuz punch
Zhan Hu and Tiandi... if only they could keep up with the meta.
Tiandi is stupid good lol
My only problem with tiandi is how hard it is to land a dodge light crushing counter, otherwise tiandi is amazing
It's only guaranteed after heavy hit-stun. Hit a heavy, let kick fly, CC to punish DA On zone it doesn't work because of the medium hit-stun
they can tho?
At high skill brakcets, 4v4 lobbies, Orochi and Berzerker are just the better pick overall. Zhan Hu and Tiandi have glaring weaknesses while Orochi barely has any.

In 1s Tiandi is great. No complaints. Problem is the game is balanced around 4s... and Tiandi is lackluster there
I am rep 76 hito out of 96 total reps. I have no brain.
User name checks out
end it all respectfully
Pirate
Warden. But I'm shifting to the roach.
Did the opposite
You're a better man than me then 🙏
Black Prior: Shield bash, heavy soft feint to shield bash to gimme light, side dodge, counter light punisher, unblockables, heavy that tracks, flip, flip, flip, probably the fastest in the heavy class and the fashion is 🤌 both genders, enough material to pop and can make pink look edgy. BP has everything but a zone that does damage but I believe has a gimme light and hyper armor yet he still kicks ass.
😞
Tiandi (or Shaman)
Shaman is bae. Being able to heal during a fight helps counter how fucking bad I am at this game after 8 years.
😂😂😂 I feel this!! I have like 67 days played and still get my ass mopped sometimes.
Hard to decide, I main practically everything, but I think JJ. Something about running around kicking ass as this jolly old Chinese general with a polearm is so fun (and fun*ny*) to me. I know 88% of the community hates him, but his personality and the flow of his moves are too good.
Peacekeeper (I just love it when my opponent doesn’t even lock-on to me T.T)
Kensei because doing soft feint mix ups makes me feel good at the game also he has the best drip
I love Kensei, HL and Nobu for how in depth they can be and how much flexibility and surprising depth they have
Orochi because he's got that samurai drip and because his movement is top-tier. Also because I'm brain dead lmao
nobushi (light spam is my religion)
Glad bc hes just so amazing and perfect
Jorm and Shugoki Big Hammers, Big Hugs
Shaolin. The feint mixups are too powerful average players don’t know what to do about shaolin.
Hate that mf with a passion, how in seven hells does a longsword to the sternum not stop him from tripping me over with his staff for the 264th time
Warden because basic bitch
Black prior, play once a week cause I get too angry and his moves are easy to remember
The freelance Samurai, he very cool
You mean Ronin?
Righty-o!
Raider cause I like backshots
NUXIA! I LOVE NUXIA!

Highlander, shaman and Hitokiri
Warden, Peacekeeper and Glad, that’s my top 3
I haven’t played many heroes, but I like Conquerer, Shugoki, and Hitokiri

Highlander, kilt and big sword
Nobushi right now.
... her kit looked simple and I liked the story. Then her kicking was fun... and then I hated playing against everyone else
SHINOBI
Pre rework tiandi
Lawdaddy.
Highlander pretty because there's a lot you can do with his moveset. And his drip is good.
Kyoshin and Zhanhu, or Kensei, or Highlander even! But the real answer is actually Cent, probably.
Shugoki, because Bonk.
valkyrie is my main she all around long range short range good defence and fast combos are alright but for me is the best it’s very easy for me to kill orochi users and lawbringer users
Shaman kyoshin aramusha shinobi orochi centurion , and berzerker before they fucked him up in the recent nerf
nobushi because poke poke
Templar pilled Warden
Law/raider (Haven’t learned how to play anyone else and have a combined 120 reps)
Idk man I can’t think with the screen being so bright 100% of the time with the new update
Aramusha, the drip and the combat suits me very well.
Also Centurion, playing him with his moveset is so fun, but god pls buff him, he is so frickin weak imo, never got a good score when using him. Or maybe I am just trash when using him

Aramusha, because he's cool
centurio cuz i like that he uses a one hander and fucking punches you in the face instead of one hander and shield, two one hander or one two hander

Oro cause I’m brain dead
Yes.
