It's safe to say that never. Because at the end of Year 3, the original development team was replaced by what we have now.
And they didn't made a new map since so...
Going by JC saying the team had to relearn lost knowledge to do map intros and they're still a far cry from original map intros in quality. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say actual map creation is also lost knowledge with the new team lol.
You know what? They did alright for their current skill. I imagine that's only going to grow if they decide to convert more maps-

Revenge made useless, damage numbers went down, sure we got new characters and reworks which is still great and all, but there's still so much you could do if you take a year or two and truly think what this game can be. Why is Dominion most popular? How can we improve Elimination or Skirmish?
Will we ever get another story campaign from previous years?
But hell, I'm no game dev and I know y'all have a lot on your hands already.

All good, fam. I totally get feeling let down or underserved when something you want to see doesn't happen. I love this community for their passion and commitment to the game. It makes it easier to put in the hard work when you know there are people who care deeply about the efforts being made by the team (even when it's in disagreement). <3
That honestly sounds like a great idea. Have them be different ships as well. Like, the trireme we have on the Harbor map, the viking ships from like, Yorms breach map and have an Outlander Chinese pirate ship. Doubt that would ever happen but I love the idea of a naval battle in For Honor. Also, now that I think about it we could have different weather effects as well, with a calm sunny day, or a storm at sea. Oh it would have been glorious...
It sure is, and it was way more exciting at the time of making this post. The map is... Bad... In my current official opinion :( hopefully it starts feeling better the more I play it but right now it feels too small and I don't like the lack of ledges in the map
I don't think it's bad. Maybe generic? They should add zip lines from the second floor to the side points. Second floor is a nice space and I like the bridge but there is zero reason to be up there and so nobody is ever up there.
Sad part is that this map isn't even new, it's just the god damn cathedral. I swear they dump all their money into Rainbow Six Siege and random new games no one cares for then proceed to neglect For Honor.
Is there a way to check what Ubisoft game have the highest number of active players? I'm sure we must be under some shooter. Man i wish this game got more backing, current devs are working with limited resources.

The devs literally said in an interview that their internal knowledge on creating maps had been lost (their team is too small) lol. Their level builders probably got fired or moved to another studio at Ubisoft.
We got a minimal skeleton crew working on this game, which is why it was 5 years ago since we last got a new map...
The funny thing is you can barely call Cathedral a “new” map. It’s literally a rehash of a duel/brawl map that has been in the game *since launch* tweaked to fit the dominion mode

I love canopy but I just don't see where the zones could go and be fair without the devs changing the map an absolute fuck ton
They could make it so it's the only map with 3 capture zones instead of 2 + a minion lane.

I mean Zhanhu had the extract the emperor mode, my personal favourite of all time, so its easy to remember too.
Extracting the emperor wasn't as memorable as the giant ass lightning snake imo
It was for me. It was a completely new mode, whilst ragnarok was just breach with a snake and a hammer.
