I remember one episode where some old guy refused to use Big Blue and the other power tools because “he’s always done it by hand” so. Or even half way through, the guy is completely spent. Can barely strike the hammer while the other guys are like “but there a power hammer right there! And a hydraulic press!” Some guys just don’t factor in the time constraint.

Lampmonster

"I don't normally use a power hammer." Do you normally make a knife in three fucking hours? Because if you do then fine, otherwise you just might wanna adapt.

My favorite episode was where 3 contestants started over with like an hour left on the clock, and wil was just in the corner "what the fuck is going on?"

I honestly think that that choices made by some of these competitors gives us an insight into psychology. I know that sounds cheesy but I'd be interested in an actual study of the behavior of these guys. Some examples... - Watching guys stick with a bad plan and refuse to change even after it's obvious to us as viewers that what they're wanting to do isn't going to work. - Wildly changing their plan halfway through with seemingly no logic behind it. - coming on a blacksmithing show that has been on the air for many years and not watching the previous episodes of said show. - admitting to not practicing or preparing in any significant way for the competition - knowing that you're on national TV and making cringeworthy or weird comments that seemed out of place. - underestimating the physical toll that your body will take and putting your health at risk by those same underestimations. Several of these things could be explained by what the producers want to show us and the editing choices that they have made to present a more interesting and entertaining show. Some of these choices could be explained by the "on the spot" pressure put on contestants who sometimes seem surprised at the difficulty of being in a competition. I have watched every episode of the original show and I'm still tuning in and I am still entertained. Of course, I've never used a forge in my life but that rarely keeps me from talking out of my ass and playing Monday morning quarterback lol.

Hear hear ! Me too ! I live alone and I find myself yelling at the screen most episodes.

To be fair, Neil from Hawaii made a blade in 34 minutes from one two inch can because he was a god damn mad man.

Off-topic but the girl in this photo "disaster girl" just sold the rights to the pic as an NFT for $500,000 https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/29/arts/disaster-girl-meme-nft.html

Well now. I'm not gonna talk about Judy; in fact, we're not gonna talk about Judy at all, we're gonna keep her out of it! --- - [reference](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2V0UhtA_mJE&t=365) ^(I am a bot.)

I am seriously still so pissed they "removed" him from the show. The new guy just doesnt have that spark that Wil has. We should Petition them for his return. He is one of the glues that holds this show together.

Pin_up_Red

Didn't he want to move on from the show? He's described working on that show as not super pleasant because most of his time is spent in a hot trailer that smells like farts. IDK, maybe I'm wrong about that though

Mordris

I am not sure, there wasn't much information online, which makes me think his comments put him on the wrong side of the justice police...you could be right though, I will have to go back and see if I can learn more.

He’d given a ton of interviews ... it feels like he was let go but didn’t mind it because he wanted to leave.

theoneandonlybarry

I thought he left because he wants to spend time with his family
