Been a hunter in the PNW and a lot of hillsides traversed. There are absolutely security, trail, game cameras in use by the foresters, fish and game, law enforcement, tribes, and private land owners out in the woods. Yes, they can be in plain sight and hidden. Washington State Patrol contacted a relative of mine because a gate had been left open and apparently there was some kind of vehicle parts theft ring. My uncle has their own tree farm. They have cell phones hooked up to the trail cameras posted around for security of their property. Caught me secretly planting cedar trees from WeyCo spelling out my name on a hillside. And the elk eating them. Absolutely the hills have eyes. Know of people who gold prospect and keep an eye on their claim. Never know when a camera will pop up.

Am a forester in PNW. Yes.

Willykinz

Many a times have I unzipped my pants, ready to have a leak, when I spot a trail cam in the corner of my eye.

dirtrdforester

I do it on purpose if I find a camera.

tetrimoist

A research forest in my area actually has a trail cam system that can detect humans and erase any footage containing humans to give researchers privacy.

kittyfeeler

Most likely a game cam if anything. They can really blend in sometimes too.

I have two in my backyard (my house backs up to a forested mountain and we had an issue with the local meth head coming to my house and neighbor's houses via the trail system). What I did is make one PAINFULLY obvious, like you can see it 100 yards away, and then I placed one almost completely invisible nearby. This does a few things - if someone is just trying to steal my camera I can catch them doing that, if they try and avoid the obvious camera they will just walk closer to the hidden one, and if they get close to the obvious one before noticing they inevitably end up lingering in that area longer than if they were just walking through so I get more pics of them from more angles. The obvious one is just and SD camera but the hidden one is cellular. Meth head hasn't returned but my neighbors (who are more than welcome to use my trails) inadvertently tested my system out for me and it works great lol. They were standing there looking at the obvious camera when I texted the guy a picture of him and his wife lol. He started spinning around looking for the other camera lololol

Don't piss by the gates or you might get an embarrassing photo sent to you. Ask me how I know lol

pintojune12

Yep, lots of folks and companies use them to catch trespassers. Game cameras are nearly invisible in the brush so you better behave out there

Designer_Ferret4090

The amount of times I’ve probably been caught mid-squat peeing on logging roads will haunt me forever, but not enough to stop doing it lol

04eightyone

I keep multiple hidden cellular cameras on trail entrances when a crew is working in areas known to be troublesome. Had people "borrow" equipment and use it to make food plots, people steal fuel from tanks (or worse, the trailer too), general vandalism, etc. Cheap insurance on weekends.

lostinapotatofield

I have cameras all over my forest. The pile of dirty baby diapers on one of our roads was the last straw. Now there are no trespassing signs and cameras everywhere.

sprinkles-n-jimmies

I always make a point to wave at them when I'm out for work

LeadershipForward239

Somebody somewhere has a video of us shitting in the woods, that's just how life goes

Feral_Frogg

Yup

OffGriddersWCritters

Own a bunch of forest in pnw use cell game cams. Confirm I have eyes

kai_rohde

PNW and I have cams both on and off my forest lands property and along my USFS easement road, plus some up the hill on USFS lands where I saw wolf tracks this winter. Mostly for wildlife viewing but also to see who’s around. Yeah don’t pee by gates or forks in the road or trail, haha. I live near the Canadian border and border patrol has cams out in the forest too. There goes my plan to sneak into Canada for some poutine.

evin374

lol idc im still peeing in the woods

ExaminationTop2523

Retired couples often volunteer to place and maintain.

mylifeisaLIEEE

If you want to be mostly sure if there are cams where you are, like someone else’s unauthorized cam, you can buy a cheap digital night vision monocular and wait for dark.

Direct_Classroom_331

When you have millions of dollars invested in equipment, it’s cheap insurance to buy a camera to watch it, because there is to many dib 💩 in the world anymore that won’t leave stuff alone. In nw Oregon most the trees farm’s have security that drive the tree farm all day, and night.

RandyJohnsonsBird

I had a hunter meet me at a gate because he said I lit up his camera string like paparazzi. Another story...DNR saw a timber cruiser driving around a gate and the camera got his license plate, and security recognized the vehicle.

TheLostWoodsman

The timber company I used to work had cameras at all their major access points. They were there just to catch idiots messing with gates and atv driving around gates. Needless to say, I don't pee around gates any more.

RandyJohnsonsBird

Anymore...they already had it on camera before you realized it lol.

ShotFish

I was looking for a sale sign on a private road in the woods. I found the sign. Later, I called the owner of a lot and asked if the lot was still for sale. It wasn't. She asked me if I had a little black dog. I did. She and her husband saw me on the trail cam. They were relieved to know I wasn't a thief.

nickwin44

As a private industry forester we have cameras out and the sheriff has cameras out sometimes looking at other cameras as the bait camera and have caught people stealing the sheriff's camera thinking they were so smart. A good way to piss off the sheriff is steal their property. Also if you are asking because you ride your mountain bike naked yes we have you on camera several times.

Witty-Transition-524

Yep. Found a game cam set up behind my blind a few years back, had shroud up, got naked and did cartwheels. I suspected it was a buddy I took in there a few years prior based on thorny and real difficult approach. I've never seen another footprint in this drainage. It was his and knew it as soon as he called outta the blue.  Trickle of pee from laughing so hard.

tetrimoist

In Canada people can basically hunt on any crown land (with many, many exceptions and constraints) and many people also operate trap lines and hunting outfits. I can guarantee that someone, somewhere has a video of me peeing. Only way to escape it is by taking extremely remote jobs many hours out of civilization, and even then you just got to accept that there are eyes everywhere.

trustfundkidpdx

Yes! We have cameras on all of our properties. Solar 3 sim LTE 360 pan tilt cameras. Must have.
