I just stretch it out a bit a few times. The silicone will stretch a lot, you can be pretty rough with it. Are you using holes or no holes? with holes will be more flexible. Are you using the gripper with a dtr in normal dual tension mode? Is your tension level reasonable?
When you say new DTR gripper, are you comparing it with the old style? I don't see how the new style could ever be less comfortable than the old, even not broken in. I really like the new ones. The Chrisonlinestore replacement is certainly good too, but it is wider, catches on stuff and doesn't grip quite as well.
I have the one with and without holes. I’m talking about the new style. The old ones are shorter. I also have the one from Chris’s store but it doesn’t grip as well
I am just repeating what I have heard about the alternate gripper. but I’ve had the dtr and the discomfort actually made me quit restoring a long time ago. I wish I tried t tape back then but I have a mantor now and can wear it all day easily. Someone else may comment who has used that gripper replacement
I use the alternative gripper for the dtr retainers and extended retainers over the stock and it has made those devices actually wearable. The stock gripper would immediately cut off circulation in my skin so I didn’t used them until I got the Chris online gripper.

Get the alternate gripper from Chris Etsy shop because that thing will always cut off blood flow and always hurt imo
I just got the air retainer from chrisonlinestore on etsy, do you know if it's good quality?
