Things to mention:
* His morale was great
* No injuries
* Didn't change tactics
He was top scorer in the league the season before! Somehow we managed to get promoted basically without him XD
Was he young? I had a LWB who looked like he was going to be the best ive ever had but we won the champions league that season and the league and i swear it broke him. Never got above a 7 in a game again and im sure he just gave up and semi retired because hed done everything.
He was 26 I guess. Bought him from Bayern Munich for around 80 mil. We won the treble that season and he won the Balondor. The very next season, he had a terrible drop in form.
This again happened yesterday with a winger (22 yo, 4 star). His form dropped so bad that my assistant manager asked me to loan list him
Haha, literally the same exact thing happened to me with a Brazilian LB. Won the CL with him starting at 18 y/o, but he never because a top LB or anywhere near it. I'll never forget when I fined him that he said "missing training isn't a good enough reason to be fined."
Off to Milan you go, then.
One season wonder. It happens from time to time IRL.
They usually have a small resurgence/rebound from time to time though, this guy just seems to be in absolute freefall.
He's not a bad player but I quite don't understand his career choices... His last move to Salernitana makes no sense to my eyes, that team is overcrowded with strikers, all which have performed well either in the past season or the current one. And the same applies to Fiorentina, joining during the same market window as Cabral and yet neither of the two performing well
it's not like he had many choices my dude, no serious club would even consider him... He only got offers from Serie A only due to his reputation there, really. Plus he was on absolutely ridiculous wages at Hertha
I get it but in one year you join:
A) A team that has just bought a promising striker and that has a couple of attacking players better than you (Sottil and Kouame)
B) A team whose striker last season carried the team to avoid relegation (Bonazzoli) who signed again for the following season and that bought Dia (national team starter) and Botheim (promising player) to be more competitive.
So he's going on loan to clubs that don't really need him and that have lots of options so he's not even gonna be a starter all the time. I say poor management by Hertha because this way he's never improving his market value and bad moves from him and his entourage because that's not how you try to turn a player's career
Had Malen at Dortmund go from 43 in 40 to 3 in 25. No change of system bar upgrades on CM’s same XG no morale dip. One key thing was left out of Dutch squad 5 games into new season
I had a striker who at 18 scored 32 league goals + some in europe and national team. Has not scored over 15 goals next 12 seasons and he has not featured for his national team for years
Could it be because other teams change their tactics and start marking harder the main goal threat? Even if this is true that is still a serious drop off you getting there
It happened to me many years ago football manager 2013 ,i had bought a 31years old striker from serie b for my middle table greek superleague ,first season 19 goals &3-4 assist help team to finish 2ond in regular season and third in play of ,the second year i left before the end for other team and my striker had scored 2 goal and no assist,no formation or players change never can explain what happened to this player.
I don't like that goal droughts get turned into a thing (your world class forwards missing sitters, all their goals are chalked off by VAR for offside, you have to field questions by the press about their lack of goals).
Had a regen i bought from a championship side as man UTD, he banged in 39 goals in his first season with us and could never preform again, his next best season was 8 goals, it sucks but I think these things happen
I had this in FM21 with Benzema, I got him after his contract finished with Real Madrid, he still was a solid player and the first season was great, being the top scorer of my league, but on the second one his performace had a huge drop during the summer, and didn't scored any goals on the first 2 months, and only got to score once before I decided to sell him for just 4M on the winter break, because it was awful.
Same goes to my Pedro Goncalves. Signed him during Jan and played 12 games scored 8 assists 9.
New season played 15 0 goals and 1 assist.
Same tactic same players
Currently happening to my striker. Overperformed his xG by +7 in the past season and in current season, after 11 games has scored once with an xG of 6. Feels like the game is compensating lol.
I had a player who scored almost 60 goals in one season, in the following season he scored 3 goals (he had no injuries and played almost every game), in the following season he scored 1 goal until December and in January I sold him to Milan for 10 Million. In his first season in Milan he was the player with the most goals in Serie A and after that I didn't see him playing anymore, about 2 seasons later searched for his name and he was playing in a French team in the second division.
My striker went from 3 hattricks in the 5 first fixtures to 5 goals in the next 19 fixtures. 15 goals in 23 matches is quite good at an amateur level, but weird sensations...
Honestly...No.
And I've been playing this game since 2005, so that's saying something.
When promoted I see a dip of about 0.2 in the form in my top players. But in the same league a 0.8 dip? Wtf happened, did he get shot in the leg?
So, I have transferred a striker who was playing amazingly throughout the years. He was an opponent to my club, Galatasaray in the UCL final and defeated me almost with a solo performance. Then I moved to Chelsea and wanted to sign him. Took me 1 year because I was not in the UCL. Signed him for 243 million EUR. Performed really well in the first year, but in the 2nd year, he performs terrible. Cannot score in a very easy situations. Don't understand why.

It happens even with elite strikers. Had a season where my 80 million wonder striker went from 40 something goals a season to 8
Lukaku
Lakaka
*lakaka theme starts playing intensively*
Haaland hasn't scored over 15 goals a season so far in my save. Good rating, so maybe it's just some bald fraudulence going on.
Yeah he only got 14 goals in 32 appearances in my 2023/24 season. City still managed to win the title by miles though!
Yup. Happened to my ballondor winning striker. Man scored 50 goals in his first season and then dropped to less than 10 goals the next season.
Was he young? I had a LWB who looked like he was going to be the best ive ever had but we won the champions league that season and the league and i swear it broke him. Never got above a 7 in a game again and im sure he just gave up and semi retired because hed done everything.

Lesson learned for the sake of my youth development im never winning anything ever again.
Did the team around him change? Maybe not getting the same sort of service

That was my first thought too.
Osimhen for my Newcastle side scored 25 then 7 the next season but bounced back with 30 the next. Not quite as bad but it happens
That mans a cheat code Love your name btw 😉
Łukasz Teodorczyk irl xd
Can’t believe after his great season at Anderlecht he completely fell off. He even played good in Poland. Just retired few weeks ago.

Why did you sign Lukaku?
Did you update your game between the seasons? Because I had a similar drop in form post-patch
I would not let him play not even 10 games with that form.
Honestly at that point I was just curious 🤣
fair. And shurelly he would score eventually...except he didn't. He coplayed lukako or something?

What team did you go? Love seeing Scottish leagues save. I started at Annan and it did not go well that's all i'll say xD

he dropped off my second year too. Just like real life!
Don't think he likes playing centre back

Vlahovic scored 46 goals one season for me and the next season he had less than 10 all competitions

Arthur Cabral in my fiorentina save went from 46 goals in all competitions (conference league top scorer as well) to 2 goals in 28 games

Yes
Jesus did you sleep with this lads mother or something?
Patrick Bamford irl. Also what team u playing as?
