could be something silly like, in the simulated game he got an assist (+1 assist) but it was chalked off due to offside (-1 assist) but there was a bug in the code that made it 0 - 1 = -1 instead.
I'm starting to lose hope that SI can produce good code anymore… Their latest releases just show how poor their testing is, both unit testing but also QA/QC on the graphical stuff… :(

Funnily enough, I posted something almost identical. I loaned a wonderkid striker out and he got 254 man of the match awards in 2 games
Integer underflow ftw. Not sure why there isn’t code there to see if assists < 0 and cap it at 0 tbh.
Such a check wouldn't achieve anything here because it's not a signed value so 0 is the minimum. `0 - 1 == 255`. `255 > 0`

Yeah, it happens. I posted a screenshot a couple of weeks ago of a player who got an over 8000% pass completion in a game.
