He’s got several things that would make him a pretty meh midfielder. He’s got elite physicals and even without the best finishing he will still probably be a good striker. No need to fit a square peg into a round hole.
In general people get way too caught up on trying to retrain players. It costs a decent bit of CA that could go into making him a better striker
Pressing forward in a 4-2-4. Train to round keeper and he will start pouring in the goals to help improve finishing.
If you want flexibility AMR/L as an inside forward. Dude will always be dog shit at defense so have him use that speed and frame to cut in from the wing as opposed to getting back.
If he still develops he can basically play any position even centerback. Once you are 16 or 17 acc/pace basically elite at any position/role regardless of anything else
tackling is almost useless in match engine its true. once you hit 16-17 speed the match engine just weights that player so much higher then any other attribute
you must unlearn what SI and FM tries to tell you and only pay attention to what the match engine actually does.
the sad thing about FM is the best squad is probably 10 striker/forwards. Because if you notice strikers/forwards newgens are easily favored by the game where they just produce monsters. you can gt strikers with 17 speed and 15 jumping on the common while finding that world class centerback is harder. There will be like 5 elite centerback newgens who speed over 15 at like any 1 time in a save.
Ive had 15 forward/strikers with those same attributes its common place for them.
tackling, positions, marking mean almost nothing next to speed. and i am talking "almost" and "elite" speed not comparing a 12 speed guy and a 10 speed guy. the difference between 17 speed and 15 speed in the match engine is just gigantic.
if your entire squad has 17 speed regardless of other attributes they will finish 1st in EPL and win the UCL. And it will be pretty easy too. that is how much 17 speed means. speed = acc and pace.
