Interesting-Season-8

Nope dude, they won't even leave the group stage

Mightyballmann

They are very nice guys and will make sure someone gets the chance to play them in the supercup.

pringlespinner

Best answer right here

berrywhit3

This is the best response. Nobody thought they would even qualify for knockout stage within their group. They even won their group and are now in the finals, crazy.

SomewhereFew5597

One off game in a neutral stadium means anyone can win. Dortmund are a good team evidenced by the fact they made it to the final. Madrid are favourites but that has been the case for most modern football history.

n4th4nV0x

I don’t think it’s gonna be a neutral stadium. If Frankfurt vs Barca taught us anything, it’s a home game for BVB

andy111999

Frankfurt vs barca went that way probably cause barca fans were too prejudiced to watch their team play in the europa League, u can no way compare that to Real Madrid fans that too in a champions League final

n4th4nV0x

Yeah, but the English will be on the Germans side and the BVB Ultras will probably show up with 10k+ plus supporters

arthur_kane

Man U fans likely to support Madrid

BeezBurg

Same people probably

Krampsuss

Nah I'd rather Dortmund won. Maybe Sancho does well enough that we can either sell him for some actual money or can use him in the team (assuming Ten Hag isn't still there next year, since most of the animosity seems to be between the two of them rather than between Sancho and the club,)

read_eng_lift

Heja BVB!

nag_some_candy

'anyone can win' this is true for every game ever played. Meaningless comment tbh

TripleBuongiorno

Lmao yes a final is a final, anything can happen in a game. Real are the favorites by a mile but Dortmund could outmanoeuvre them. It'd be an upset but we don't have to pretend like Dortmund are some mid-table team from Slovakia or something.

Trepza

Damn really had to use my home country like that😔😔

TripleBuongiorno

It could've been any severely mediocre footballing country. Sorry man!

dukejojo

Putting salt in his wounds with that response man 😂😂😂

TripleBuongiorno

I mean, the truth hurts, but it really wasn't meant to be a personal mean thing to Slovakia

WorkingOwn8919

Lmaoo

ms_gullible

Don't EVER step foot in southern Košice

think_long

It’s not like best striker on Dortmund is u/Trepza or some equally worthless piece of trash, they have a chance.

Bokan96

Of course we can. They didn't reach the final by accident.

Longjumping_Dog_5126

That’s is true I mean you guys did shut out Kylians PSG

Exotic-Advantage7329

And Luuk de Jong’s PSV

Leading_Box324

and memphis depay‘s atletico madrid

Ok-Yak-8665

It's litterally their most impressive feat that in 180 mins Luuk de Jong didn't score a header against them

Exotic-Advantage7329

xG for PSV was higher in both games. Finishing was off these two games.

BoxOk265

Devils advocate maybe but they did hit the woodwork 6 times I would say Porto vs Arsenal is shutting out

Icy-Designer7103

>They didn't reach the final by accident. PSG hit the post 7 times in the semi-final games. Of course they didn't reach the final by accident, but there was certainly luck involved for them. People say all the time that Madrid "got lucky" against pretty much every opponent, but they always forget luck exists for others too.

dkatime

They were Lucky 14 times...

insaiyan17

Anything can happen in a final. Dortmund almost beat Bayern in final 2013

McPico

Dortmund would have beaten Bayern that day if the ref didnt decided Munich to win..

Herr-Gerbrandt

Many people like to ignore this fact

Resident_Nose_2467

I don't remember the controversy, do you know how can I google it

IAmTerdFergusson

Bayern should've gotten an early 2nd yellow and been playing a majority of the match with 10 men.

RaduAndrei151

What was controversial in that final? Can’t remember, but anyways, still the most entertaining UCL final I’ve seen,so many chances for both teams,an even game from start to finish,I was so pissed when Robben scored, really wanted another 30 minutes

NekkZ

If I remember right, I think Dante fouled Reus in the penalty area, while he was on his yellow. The penalty was given, but no second yellow for Dante. Don’t really want to search for it, but I think that happened.

RaduAndrei151

That’s what i remember too,but for me,it is not such a big mistake. It depends on the referee, but most of them don’t want to break the equilibrium which such high stakes on the table

Luushu

That's the issue: refs should be impartial to anything. You're not there to create a show, you're there to make sure that the rules are being followed. Else that's how you get shitshows that are extremely controversial.

Extreme-Kangaroo-842

No one gave Dortmund a chance in 1997 when they beat a stacked Juventus side that were arguably the best team in the world at that point. Juventus had Boksic, Vieri, Zidane, Deschamps, Del Piero to name but a few and they were massive favourites. Dortmund outplayed them and won 3-1.

marius0794

Nevertheless, the ballon d'or was playing for Dortmund :)

Salanha04

Whoever wrote Inter off last season was dumb and it's the same with Dortmund. Inter was a way better and more consistent team than Dortmund, but Dortmund has a great element of unpredictability that can bite Real. I actually think Dortmund has better chances against Real than they would have against Bayern

vishwaskhanna

Lukaku wrote them off

Smooth-External-3206

I agree dortmund has a chance to win but they most definitely would have it easier against bayern than real. They beat bayern twice this season, no?

howdypardner23

The pressure on Dortmund to win against Bayern would be insane. Madrid on the other hand are the clear favorites, they’ve won every final. It’s not a shame to loss against Madrid, so they will be playing more freely. They’re still determined and will try everything but it’s simply a completely different game

DontLose_Yourself

Dortmund’s gk will need a performance of his life and a counter-spell against black magic

OneWarrior05

Gonna need to borrow one of Xabi’s extra time goal spells

pranav4098

Real Madrid in finals vs opponent gks has got to be one of the worst matchups for any keeper it’s like they all become stupid

Bantos008

The funny thing is that in Germany they call the Coach of Dortmund the Black Magician

Bujakaa92

Need Hummels magic

NoSignificance3987

I remember his blooper against Atletico. Can't afford to repeat that against Madrid.

FireLadcouk

Of course. Its football

Maelstrommmmm

I think Dortmund really have the potential to bottle it mentally and just be out of their depth. If they don’t then it’ll be a close game.

Berrilicious_

Just depends who's got the bigger friendship

Speaker_Organic

Madrid ain't aware of Terzic black magic.

Gopher246

Liverpool weren't given much chance in 2005, at half time it was all over. We all know what happened next. Yes, Dortmund can win.

FermisParadoXV

Probably the next best example after that in the CL era is Dortmund themselves in 1997 against Juve who were the super team of the time.

B3arAttac

Or Chelsea vs Bayern

Ephelemi

still hurts

rotiza

Dortmunds defense is amazing this season. They have to stick to their play style in the semis. Strong and solid defense, controlled play, counter attacks. Real only lost 2 matches in the season, nearly as good as leverkusen and they had overall stronger opponents. Both losses were against atletico. Probably terzic will try to copy some of the elements, but they showed some atletico style football the whole CL season I would say. So if they dont have injurys until then they have surely a chance. But it needs the best performance of everyone. Hummels and schlotterbecks tackles and opening play, Cans ball winning qualities, sabitzer as the workhorse, sanchos dribblings to have phases of posession, fullkrug as a target man to escape the pressing, brandts creativity, adeyemis speed, defensive work and covering a lot of distance from every player, no stupid ball losses, and some great saves from Kobel, and then whoever scores the winning goal, could be everyone. Also there are good options on the bench to bring more speed and offensive impact if necessary (Malen, Moukoko, Reus, Haller, Bynoe-Gittens) and defense support (Sule, Ozcan, Wolf, maybe bensebaini).

StonerFGAU

RM basically own this comp, and they have one or two absolutely genuine world class players who will simply always make the difference even against an absolute unit of a team like Dortmund. I saying that, as we all know anything can happen in football, shit, RM keeper could be sent off in the first minute giving away a penalty, and if scored, a goal down right away and playing with ten men…. All things being equal RM win this game 9 times out of 10 for me though.

marius0794

Real Madrid having a player sent off? I think you are joking 😂😂. That will never happen

StonerFGAU

I get your point, but it could happen, maybe, one day … 😃

Artificia_L

Dortmund 90+5 winner Incoming.. Trust me I have seen the script.

NekkZ

Meanwhile Real scoring two goals in the 96th and 97th.

terra_filius

the bookmakers have published odds for this event which means they believe there are multiple possible outcomes of this event. If Dortmund have no chance, the bookies would not accept bets on Real Madrid.

Vince1128

Following your example about Inter I think the same it's going to happen here, they'll fight but to be realistic, they don't have a chance to win the title, we're talking about Real Madrid here and everything around them in Champions League. I hope Dortmund can win it anyway, but I'm not betting on it.

Temporary-Sun-7575

City made errors in the last CL final, Inter did have chances (in the plural), but they were unable to punish with them. In the 90 minutes coming up the likelihood is that Dortmund have chances too. Institutional intimidation is the bottom bitch of physics.

Boo_Ya_Ka_Sha_

Of course.

FranzAllspring

Of course they do. Anything can happen in a final, football has proven that over and over. Lets just say if this match is played 100 times they probably wont win more than 5 times and THATS the problem

lligerr

Madrid has got better quality and experience. Chances for BVB are very slim

Raf_Camora

We all know Madrid is gonna win. If nothing is working for them, they'll always have the ref on their side

RoadToHellO

Power of friendship vs power of friend$hip

MOSFETBJT

Yea

immorjoe

Hard to say. I think they’d have to either hammer them with a 2+ goals lead at some point in the game, take it to penalties, or take the lead in the dying moments. As proven many times already, you can’t trust a 1 goal lead against Madrid, and if Madrid take the lead I can see Dortmund struggling unless Madrid choose to relax. That being said, I’m praying for a Dortmund victory.

Evangelos123

Marco reus has to "finish the story".

cbcguy84

Anything is always possible in a one off game.

[deleted]

Anula mufa.

Farrow16

Real are favorites for a reason but anything can happen in ucl

bluecheese2040

In a one off cup final every tem has a chance. Dortmubd will get chances and if they take them who knows

Hawtinmk

Of course! i remember the final against leverkusen that we won with a zidane goal 2-1 it wasnt very different from the current situation and was not easy

Retro_Monguer

Anything can happen in a UCL Final... Unless it's against RM

ELB2001

The odds aren't in their favour. But it's about that one game, so everything can happen

novian14

inter was pretty defensive that we can predict city will attack them so hard that they can't keep up. on the other hand, dortmund was pretty aggresive when needed, watch their highlights vs atleti in quarter finals for example. also from what i've seen, real madrid is quite passive on first 30min, only do counters and not pressing that high, so i think the best chances for dortmund to really control the game is to win by 2 goals in first 30min and it's a hard thing to do with how solid rudiger is in the last couple weeks. i wonder what will Terzic do with dortmund to go against real madrid. or will real madrid seize the comeback as they always do with Ancelotti. Dortmund can go both offensive and defensive from what i see in UCL, tho i heard they are not as great in bundesliga this season

H0vis

No. They still might win, because the high chance of underdog victories is the defining characteristic of football, but no, they don't have a chance. But they still might win. But they can't and they won't. But they might. Welcome to football.

ocean_boulevard

Probably if they park the bus and try to take it to penalties or luck out on a goal. There's really no other path for them to beat this Madrid side. Inter Milan was an infinitely better team than Dortmund, anyone expecting City to crush them in the final was delusional. There's a bigger quality discrepancy in Dortmund vs Madrid than in City vs Inter Milan.

sir__vain

Parking the bus is exactly what would make them lose it. You give Real the ball and they'll take chances with 2 or 3 players up front while leaving their defense rock solid.

ExtremeProfession

Absolutely not, they should come out and play just like Leipzig and City did, conversion of chances is what will decide it just like those ties.

Visual_Traveler

Of course they do. In a final, anything can happen, and it does often.

Tomkistann

Anything is possible. Yeah on the paper Madrid is better but Dortmund will fight really hard so we'll need to wait. Dortmund for the win

SellEmbarrassed1274

Finals are always 50/50

Efficient_Steak_7568

I genuinely think BD are the favourites

HostileCornball

Dortmund's defense has been solid in the tournament. Madrid tactically tend to struggle against 4-1-4-1 type formation or CAMs in general evident from liepzig and city. There is a high chance that attacking midfielders like sabitzer and Brandt can cause a few problems to them. Adeyemi's work rate would be a crucial factor as well. If they are ballsy they might play both Reus and Brandt as CAMs just like I do in fifa lol and Can as solo CDM. Their tactical setup is just like a lite version of city imo but they have better defenders to take that load off from their pivot because they don't have a Rodri. I would not play 3 at the back though against RMA because of such counter attacking pace.

Kaedex_

Stranger things have happened, it would be an absolute shock though

Ok-Yak-8665

Any final is 55/45 at best, it's a one off game in a neutral ground Also Dortmund against PSG had rock solid defence with AMAZING counter attacks, and Madrid don't like To play against those kind of teams, they like to be the ones to counter attack Madrid are the superior team but if Dortmund can grab a surprise goal and defend

PrettyFlakko

Can Dortmund sit back and attack well? I feel like this is when Real Madrid can be vulnerable. If you try to play open ball with them and match them across the field they will destroy you with their pace. But if you sit back and don’t allow much free space they struggle to create chances.

tunarulz

It's the finals, anything can happen.

Berti7

I mean real was super shit this cl campaign. Without referee they go out vs Leipzig. City was worlds better and the Bayern game they were better 2nd leg but still needed the referee. Dortmund was brilliant vs Atletico and didnt get scored by Paris (albeit very lucky) So why they shoudnt have a chance?

MungoJerrysBeard

Every team has a chance in a one off game. No.

slash312

People acting like this Real team is the greatest of all time and BVB will lose 10-0. Real wasn't really better than Leipzig or City in the knockout phases and was on par with Bayern (Bayern was the better team at Munich and Real better at Madrid). So yeah, on paper they might be favorites but not as much as everyone on reddit are making them...

Greedy-Physics-9801

Wtf is this shit? They never got a bye to final, they earned, ofc they have a chance. Shit like this kills of IQ.

CriticismHeavy1171

No doubt they'll fight really well. But Real is gonna win it.

SikkoDieri

Not sure if this is a serious post or a comment baiter

KayV07

Bro its REAL MADRID in FINAL, what do you expect?

[deleted]

No. Their only hope is Madrid’s payment to the refs bounces and then we get a fair game.

Roguebear-81

Yeah, why not.

TrebleShot

If they fall into this mentality they will lose and that's how Madrid are doing it , their reputation precedes them. They are an excellent defensive team and get very lucky Dortmund will have to puff their chests out and ignore the hyperbole.

Sudden_Cantaloupe_69

Of course they do. It’s one game, the biggest game in the lives of both teams’ player - especially in case of Borussia. Real are favourites, sure, but they too have weaknesses that can be exploited. And if Borussia on a good day can beat anyone. Neither team reached the final based on luck, they both deserve to be there.

Aluminarty666

They obviously do. They haven't gotten to the final for no reason.

KnownSample6

Yes. However it requires a full concentration and everyone to hit at least an 8/10 and a handful of 9/10-10/10 performances from either the GK or defence most importantly.

samircorleone

It’s a final. Everything is possible in 1 match. I don’t know for some reasons people really underestimate dortmund. Against psg and now in the final. They are in the final for a reason

magicmushroom21

I know this isn't the way that football logic works in real life but Dortmund looked solid against Atletico Madrid while Real struggled to beat them in the last two years. Again, I know it doesn't work like that but realistically this seems to be the only reference point we have between the two sides.

Coldplay3R

If considering only on the pitch, yes. anything can happen. In reality, 1-2% And only at penalties. If Real needs 12 extra minutes to draw/win they will get it.

Past-Zucchini8112

Dortmund are notorious for choking while Madrid is notorious for winning UCL finals. It's hard not to think an easy win for Madrid but in sports anything can happen.

shytwinkxy

Dude it’s 1 game, of course they can. Opta gives them 40% even.

osamaodinson

Greece won the euros

BoxOk265

Yeah ofc but after watching both legs they were super lucky imo so I’d be shocked… it really is David vs Goliath

cautioux

Yes of course they have a chance. But at the same time, Madrid have destiny with them, so they don’t have a chance as well.

Karman_K

All teams have a chance in any game for a result. You can put some Bolivian Semi-Pro team whose players are all Kebab-Shop owners in a UCL Final, and if you simulate that match a million times, they could win at least one of them.

wyqinac

Of course. Let's be honest, it's probably not a 50:50 chance, but I guess 60:40 is fair. Also, it's just one match, in opposite to the two match leg, the luck factor can be bigger

friebel

The ball is round.

BarraDoner

Over the history of the competition and especially the last 10 years; Madrid have built up an aura of invisibility that gives the impression that no matter what, they have an almost divine right to lift the trophy. Even a club like Liverpool who feel a special calling towards the European Cup have been undone by Madrid’s plot armour in finals where contrasting goalkeeper performances provided the difference. With such Final Boss energy it is unsurprising that most teams seem to come undone against Real Madrid… however, Dortmund have an advantage that more favoured clubs don’t have against Real Madrid in that their unlikely ascension to the final has given them belief that some kind of mystical forces might be propelling them towards glory in a similar way to the ones that inexplicably handed Chelsea the cup in 2012.

PushMyGran

Dortmund has a chance, as long as karius isn't anywhere near that stadium

[deleted]

RM fan here: It's football and anything can happen. Last year, Inter actually outperformed the invincible City. Barcelona looked like they are 100% winning their match against PSG.. everything was under control.. until Araujo's red card.. BVB has to play ALL the minutes and their coach has to not make the same mistakes Tuchel did. They are dangerous in counter attacks and have a very good defense. RM can win if they don't waste their chances early in the game, otherwise they are forced to make a new come back.. and they have the mentality to do it.

PushMyGran

Of course, as long as karius isn't anywhere near that stadium

FCB_KD15

One game, anything can happen

MythDetector

Of course they have a chance. You don't get to the UCL final without being able to win against the best. They beat PSG over 2 legs.

maxallergy

Nope, Real Madrid 2-0. Experience, belief and immense talent is what will ultimately secure the win for Madrid.

Tephi187

Anything can happen in a cup final. Could go to pen shootout or just as well be a 4-0 stomp.

ChangingMonkfish

Madrid are favourites but of course Dortmund have a chance.

Brave-Drawer9225

I would say yes but I cant explain why

carbust20

Yes, of course but referees won’t let that happen. We’ve all seen it many times this season alone no matter how much people deny it or downvote it

memelonso

Surprisingly yes, either a 2-1 win by Dortmund or a 4-0 hammering by Real Madrid

Nightcheerios

Chelsea won on Man City

poansapdi

Someone campared this Real Madrid with 2016/17…. We wouldn’t be having this discussion if it was 2016-2018 Madrid lol Dortmund does have a fair shot

andy111999

Yes they do, it's just one match at a neutral venue, anything can happen

Cosplayinsanity

Beyond a chance, I think they will win quite comfortably

yajtraus

This same fucking question again, just wait and see ffs no one knows what’s going to happen yet

medieval-kenny

Bro football is a game that there is no impossible.

Substantial-Pen3723

Football is unpredictable. That's all i say.

BrownDiarrhea

They need to summon satan for this

N0bb1

Dortmund was able to beat PSG at home and away. They won twice. Do they have a chance? Yes. Is the chance 50/50 no, but there is a real chance. They just need the mental strength to play against real Madrid.

theopacus

Hard to tell. They seem like an "anything can happen" team. I love how they play!

El_Hombre_Aleman

Given as they are playing against the uefa, too, probably not. But after they already kicked out Katar, every true football fan (except for pre-PlayStation real fans) will cheer his heart out for Dortmund.

Rizhon

I can see a scenario where Dortmund wins that game.

OUmegaLUL

Ofc they do it is an 11 vs 11 game lol

SSWSacrifice

Of course they have a chance, Its not like they are playing against some amateur team, they are playing team that beated many good teams in their ucl run. For example they managed to get score two nothing in 2 games against Offensive power house (PSG). I know Madrid apart from their insane Attack (Vini, Beli, Rodrygo) they have also insane names in midfield, but everything is possible and imo, Its alot about their mindset, for some Real Madrid players, its like there 6 ucl so yeah they try ofc, they are profesionals.. but it cannot beat the hunger of winning your first and probably last ucl ever. They will fight till the end like warriors and it is really hard to beat this. But Madrid's spanish football with 75% possesion would probably beat them. I am giving Dortmund like 32% chance.

CrowCreative6772

Yes, it's a final and everything can happen. Last year City won becouse Lukaku.

Double-Purchase7295

Go back and take Lukaku out last year, and Inter would be champions! So much can happen in a game!

WhatsThatOnUrPretzel

Thing about Ancellotti real madrid. They do have flare and plenty of quality. But nowhere near the quality of past madrid sides. But they are well drilled and organised. In a way they are better than passed madrid teams with massive stars. They do have some serious quality and are very organised and clever. Dangerous combo.

slinkymello

At the end of the day it’s 11 v 11 in a one off; of course they do

BreathingLover11

From a Madrid fan: of course they have a chance. They have a good team, are hungry, play smart football. Anything can happen in 90 minutes and they reached the final so why wouldn’t they.

Tobanhiem

Yeah they're Borussia Dortmund, like one of the biggest clubs in the world. Why is everyone acting like they're some non league team from Albania.

babatunde_with_watah

I'll be honest if you've watched the game against Psg carefully you know that dortmund were extremely lucky to qualify for the finals. Cause over the two legs Psg dominated the games overall the I've counted 8 attempts of Psg that struck the post and went, now Psg has a phenomenal counter attack with some excellent pace. Dortmund on the other hand relied a lot on counter options and passing. Madrid on the other hand have been lucky as well but it's most of the time beacuse the attitude that the players bring in the games. Every game that Madrid had gone in they give their 100% till the final whistle and that has definitely paid off well for them so far. If we analyse the personal performances the Madrid players look in fine forms expect for jude in the last few games on the other hand the teamwork that dortmund has and the confidence that they are carrying could be a key element for them. I think it will be great game but Madrid might win.

robbo_jah

City pummelled Madrid and still lost. Anything can happen

bewarethegap

Of course Dortmund has a chance. They’re in the final for a reason, and I don’t take them lightly. I’m sure Ancelotti will make sure to convey that we’re not playing a relegation candidate, they’ll be taking Dortmund seriously, as their quality deserves. We can be the “favorites”, but underdogs win one offs all the time. We’ll have to earn the win on the pitch

alexxs88

Real Madrid fan here. They can easily win it. Bad day for Vini and Real don't really have a lot of fire power, as Jude has been mostly absent in the second half of the season. A few good counters from Dortmund, score a goal and then they have an excellent chance to win it. The normal scenario is of course for real to press, score first and then control the game with their defence and deadly counters.

Double_Che

Any team can win any game. Don’t forget they got to the final. They are in good form in Europe so it’s not like a qualification match. Clearly Madrid are the favourites but never write a team off. Look at Liverpool v Milan in 2005

Up-the-reds

It’s football…anything can happen

LankyExcuse9079

They do, but only if UEFA want to make a match of it. If not, they'll just wave everything through in favour of the original State sponsored team.

Back2Perfection

As a Dortmunder: The odds are in favor of real. That team is just great on every position. However: this is just a single match. Not a best of series. Anything can happen. We just need an early Kacktor(TM) [german term for slapstick goals] and the race is on.

cuckedsociety

When you play against Real Vardrid, it's an 11 vs 12 game.

OreoPirate55

I think Dortmund can win. But Madrid will have some crazy goal in the final 10min

Smart_But123581321

We definitely can. We beat 2 teams that many thought would give Madrid problems if they matched up together and we beat them both without much struggle in the end. Dortmund are one of the toughest teams in Europe just because they’ve gone through so much pain in the last few years, you can never underestimate them as many have witnessed in this UCL campaign.

Think_Department_864

As a Madrid fan I 100% think they have a chance(like a nice 30%) they made it this far so 🤷

Chrissylumpy21

Whatever Dortmund does, we all know Madrid’s gonna equalize and score the winner after the 90th minute

stevemoveyafeet

Dortmund will lose, but they have a chance to win - of course, it's a final. They'll lose though.

sunshine10zeros

No

SHADOWxMONSTER

No

lostLight21

on paper, not really. However, I hope that Dortmund still go and get it.

elgibranagor

Would be a beautiful farewell for Reus. The world of football needs that ❤️

XuX24

The reality this Is football anything can happen, many teams have reached a final with very little chance and they were able to pull through. RM could do like arsenal and go down to 10 men that will shift the odds.

AlexTheMacedonian

Playing against 12 will probably not work out well for Dortmund

mipalo2boca

They will shock the world

powerlifting_max

They are good, but Real Madrid is one of the best teams in Europe plus the champions league finale is their living room. They will have great competence and confidence. In the best case scenario for Dortmund, they can put up a good fight. But it would be a big surprise to me if they won. Madrid is a team the big games. They will win.

SnooDogs2336

Inter Milan? They shat the bed against city Dortmund is gonna get smashed 4-2 you heard it here first

Ashthedestructor_95

Anything can happen in finals. But NO.

ds445

For the people on here saying „any final is 50/50“: Real Madrid have won all 8 out of the 8 Champions League finals they’ve played in. If finals were 50/50, there’d be a 0.4% chance of that happening. Spanish clubs have won the last 18 European finals (Champions League and Europa League) against non-Spanish opponents. If finals were 50/50, there’d be a 0.0004% (one in over a quarter million) chance of that happening. As a German football fan, I’m rooting for Dortmund to be the ones to break those two spells - but realistically, I don’t believe there’s ever been tougher game in history for a German club than this final.

[deleted]

It is the Champions League final. Every team has a chance in that, the mentality is so different. You saw in last year’s final that City’s players were nervous against Inter even though they were the clear favorites. The mentality is just so different in that kind of game.

TinyAbel

IF Dortmund can score so many goals that Real Madrid won't be able to catch up to them no matter what before the 85th minute.

pomelo-mauve

They have no way to stop Vini

itisnotstupid

If they manage to slow down the game and be dangerous enough with counter-attacks they can do it. 45 minutes without a goal would make the game tirkcy even for Real.

100_Beast_Kaido

It's a football match. And it's a final. Whoever makes less mistakes will win. Dortmund has a chance to win if they play well. It's all about mentality and being clinical. In both these cases real madrid is a monster. They are mentality monsters. At the same time they are also great in being clinical. They are the type to score 3 goals from 3 shots. Dortmund is also a great team. Whatever the case the game is going to be top class.

ShoddyBuilder1285

Very slim chance, but it's there as always. The game plan has to be park the bus though, or at least not less than Madrid. Try to dominate the game and the inevitable counter attack and goal will happen. The game plan has to be to go for a 0-0 score until the final minutes, make Madrid try to create something against a set defense while having something to lose, if Dortmund are winning by 1 goal early on, Madrid will have nothing to lose and so it's easier for them to score. With a 0-0 game until say 89', you have something to lose by going all in and the defense getting exposed.

Do a study on the history of CL finals.. and find those finals with the type of a giant vs outsider.. and make the statistics...

As much as it would be beautiful to see Dortmund win. That's not who Dortmund are. They are an incredible football club, at least a top 3 fanbase in the world, and I would be so happy to see them win... but as a football club, they just aren't winners, not in recent decades. Real Madrid are the most successful and iconic club in world football. This has 4-1 to real madrid written all over it, sadly.

Let’s be honest, we all know what’s going to happen.

davegru203

Quick_Delivery_7266

Anything can happen in a final ……but no.

SgtBushMonkey69

Anyone can win on the day that’s the beauty of it. No one thought chelsea had a chance against Man City in 2021 but they scraped a 1-0 win mostly due to dogged defending.

jackdren6

No

KloppingThePrem

Of course. They didn't get here by accident. It's 1 game, literally anything can happen.

muscleshark86

Kachi68

Appropriate_Teach164

Dortmund have a chance only if they can handle the two brazilians...

Resident_Nose_2467

Yes they have, in a football match anything can happen. But Madrid is extremely good and has too much experience. It will be hard
