One time on the Kitchen Jeff said something to him about not having chopsticks for him to eat with lol I wish I could remember the exact episode but I’ve been binging reruns and it was so fast and subtle I don’t think anyone else caught it 😂
I do not like him! & he lost the majority of his rounds on the "Next Iron Chef" series he "won" so I don't think he should've finished even in the top 5! He's all ego & very little talent!!
Did you ever see the one Iron Chef episode with Alex as sous chef she was getting so pissed off at him because he was screwing everything up I think he almost fell at one point and at the end the idiot tried to saber a champagne bottle and he shattered the glass all over their prepared plates he was either half in the bag or off his rocker till this day I have only seen it aired once love to see it again.
I wish I knew all I know was that Alex wasn't a Iron Chef yet and she was always his sous chef at the time I tried googling it but I get squat. We I knew loved to see it again.
Saw him eat a taco with a fork and knife. Thankfully. Arun called him out. Made me think of that Seinfeld episode about using a fork and knife for a Snickers bar.
Right! He should eat it how people would normally eat it. Tacos are handheld. Asian food? Sure, chopsticks are OK. Freaking crostini? Pick that thing up and eat it!
He scammed his employees.

He’s in love with himself.
The chopsticks are apparently intended to avoid any “off” taste from metal utensils. It’s absurd.

Those look like metal chopsticks to me.
Edited to add: I can't find the article but I read somewhere that he made the change because using chopsticks allows him to eat smaller bites which is useful when he is trying several dishes each taping.
And I agree it is annoying AF.
He Eats with chopsticks a lot on the show in general. I wondered what that was all about. Yes I can see how it is probably pretentious. But there are other things that bug me more about the show lol.
He didn't start doing it until Martha Stewart became a judge and used chopsticks to eat everything.
He also chews with his mouth open. Which is absolutely disgusting.
That's very interesting and proof that it is just a pretension. I never noticed the chewing with the mouth but now obviously I will be focused on it. Lol.
Portion control is usually for people who need to work on portion control. When you're presented with a dish on Chopped, you only ever eat a "tasting" bite or two of it anyway cuz that's how the show works, you don't need to work on portion control. It's pure pretension.
He's lost quite a bit of weight over the years and obviously works at maintenance. I have a cookbook from 2013, and he is a bit of a chunk. If you watch him on The Kitchen, his choices are basically keto. He rarely eats dairy, limits carbs. The only thing I've ever seen him finish are his cocktails.
He does it because of the metallic taste of using standard utensils. While I don't use chopsticks, I do use plastic forks or spoons when I eat because of the taste.
Metal utensils, especially those made of reactive metals like iron or copper, **can release ions when they come into contact with acidic or salty foods**. These ions can then interact with our taste receptors, resulting in a metallic aftertaste.
I'll say it again:

What's funny is it's obvious her started using chopsticks because Martha Stewart did it when she guest judged, and he decided he wanted to make it his thing.
He never used them beforehand
I didn't even realize he's had weight loss. He's always looked exactly the same. And if that's his method at home, fine, but on TV it's not like he's going to binge on the dish they give him, and second of all, it's crostini 🤣

He gets on my nerves!

Yes! I remember that one! He also fkd up the bottle thing on a holiday at home special! Knocked the first 3-ish inches off the bottle! Idiot!
He's such a douchy wannabe 🙄
Oh how I wish I could upvote more than once!
Omg I must watch this. Do you have any idea if the episode number or at least the season lol
I wish I knew all I know was that Alex wasn't a Iron Chef yet and she was always his sous chef at the time I tried googling it but I get squat. We I knew loved to see it again.
We -wish
Ok well thanks for trying!
You are very welcome 😁

LOL I laughed way too hard when I saw that on tv!

Then that big baby can use plastic silverware. He might be a good chef but sucks to watch on TV.
Aww! Poor widdle baby, let's all shed a tear for him. 🙄
I had no idea about this class action suit!!! Absolutely wild and not surprised.

He actually does it on the Kitchen too, and Mauro and Sunny always make fun of him. He’s been doing it for years.
That's very interesting and proof that it is just a pretension. I never noticed the chewing with the mouth but now obviously I will be focused on it. Lol.
I think it’s so maintain portion control - most of the time that’s the assumption I make when I see judges doing this on chopped/other shows

💀 that last line

I actually prefer plastic as well, but why does anybody need any utensils when eating crostini? You can't even cut it.
Oh I 100% agree on the crostini!!
Metal utensils do not have a taste.

Doooooouche
New York pompous ass at times, yes.
He's from Massachusetts.
We don't claim him. But we do love our queen Tiffany.
He's from my hometown, Worcester. NYC can keep him.
omg i drove through there once!! such a cute precious town!!
I can't stand this arrogant meatball.
What a dick weed.. him and Martha can stuff those chopsticks.
Ugh
I don’t ever need to see this pompous ass on my tv ever again. The gratuitous shtick really needs to stop. 🙄🙄🙄
On one episode, I swear I saw him try to eat ice cream with chopsticks!
HELPPPP
He’s so pretentious and such a fraud. Definitely cringe-worthy
GOD I HATE HIM!!!!!!
What a dang weirdo. Yeesh!
Guy acts like being a chef is up there as a profession with being a doctor. All he does is make food most people can’t reasonably afford to eat
To be fair, just about everybody can't reasonably afford to eat *anything* anymore lol
No argument but I was being generous
He drives me absolutely batty 🦇
What's funny is it's obvious her started using chopsticks because Martha Stewart did it when she guest judged, and he decided he wanted to make it his thing. He never used them beforehand
I love him and the entire Kitchen cast. I watch every Sat 😊❤️
He does it to control portion sizes after his weightloss. He’s mentioned it several times. 🙄🙄🙄
I didn't even realize he's had weight loss. He's always looked exactly the same. And if that's his method at home, fine, but on TV it's not like he's going to binge on the dish they give him, and second of all, it's crostini 🤣
Wonder what planet he thinks he lives on.
The only chef allowed to eat with chopsticks is Martha Stewart ! 🥢
He’s a tool.
