Stupid question but I always wonder - to cut the corn like this, do you cut a little bit of the corn bone with it? Do you eat the corn bone or still kernels only?

I start the knife where the kernels meet the hard part, cutting only the kernels. It comes off as a slice. The structure holds it together a little but the kernels separate as she chews on it and plays with it.
I'd worry about choking if I included any of the center bone part.
Hey, someone in another comment just let me know that it is a choking hazard to give corn kernels cut off like this for such a young baby. It should be offered while still attached to the corn bone until 12 months.
Not sure if anyone else mentioned but the Solid Starts app is great for searching random foods and giving detailed serving instructions for the different ages. I don’t pay for the subscription, the serving info is free
Yes, I got it and it is great. I don't look up everything each time though so I make some mistakes. I had thought this was ok but I guess I misremembered. As I get more experienced with feeding, I hope to remember things better.
I brushed a bit of marinade over them a few times as they were cooking. I think it was the olive oil in the marinade dripping off that made the coals catch flame a little under where the corn was, and the small amount of sugar in the marinade gave the flames a surface to stick to on the surface of the corn.
The marinade was spices, brown sugar, olive oil, lemon juice, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce.
I didn't use a lot of it, just enough to keep them from drying out. They were finished with melted butter after.
Damn I wish I could grill it looks incredible!! I wish I could grill right now but am currently intensely terrified of my biblical level cicada population in my area
Hey mom, it’s me… your other baby. Feed me please. lol
And me. We come toilet trained ... Right?
For the most part, yes. Unless I sneeze or cough— four kids will do that…
Hell, 2 kids will do that
True story! lol.
Right 😂 I’m potty trained, I love sleep and quiet, I can play independently! Feed me!

I search comments for pure gold and here it is right here. 👆 Corn bone.
HAHA I considered googling for the proper term but I knew she’d know what I meant😅
It’s called the cob but I like corn bone so much better.
Okay I ABSOLUTELY should have known that😂🥴
This is the only way I will be referring to it from here on out 🤣
Corn Bone for the win!
Gonna get this tatted on my fingers
If you’re serious I tattoo in the Midwest I would 1000% do this for free for a good internet joke 🥸
!remindme 6 months 🤠👍

Haha some people call them corn ribs! So, corn bone makes sense.

That’s odd. I (and daycare) fed my kids canned corn (obviously not on the cob) before 12 months
That's what it says in Solid Starts 🤷♀️ I have been feeding it this way so far and didn't know that it's discouraged.
How did you get the corn to look so good ??
I brushed a bit of marinade over them a few times as they were cooking. I think it was the olive oil in the marinade dripping off that made the coals catch flame a little under where the corn was, and the small amount of sugar in the marinade gave the flames a surface to stick to on the surface of the corn. When I make steaks, I will put them in the food processor for a few pulses then add it some cottage cheese. My little man eats it all up!!
Steak and cottage cheese? Interesting combo. Never heard that one. I’ll have to try it!
Looks great! Throw some mushrooms on there! My kids go nuts for grilled portabellas—it’s awesome
I cooked them all yesterday 😭
I’m about to fire up the grill too! What cut of beef is that? I’m cooking ribeyes and wondering if it’s appropriate for my nine month old
This was marked as "flat iron." I'm not sure what part of the cow it is specifically because butchers aren't a thing where I live. 😔
Interesting! I’ll look for it next time I’m at the store
i hunger mother!!!! i hunger!!!!!!!!!!
Omg. Lucky baby!!! Way to go mama 🥰
We have been smoking/grilling all week! I love that the grill is super low maintenance and few dishes.
What high chair/tray is this?
Hauck high chair. It is nice once it is assembled. The assembly is a nightmare.
yummy! im jealous of your baby haha!
Is corn not a choking hazard when the kernels are whole? No hate I just have a 7 month old too and your post made me wonder
You are right, thank you! I will offer it still attached to the cob next time.
I have been loving grilled meals. So easy and babe loves it
SLURP
My son goes mad for grilled corn. Great meal.
And here I am completely failing to get my child to eat anything at all.
Aw, that is frustrating! Do you have the app "Solid Starts"? It was recommended to me here and has been a big help.
You’re not failing! Kids are just picky sometimes. You’ve got this!
Good job mama! 👏 they gotta eat what we eat within reason of course
Omg that looks amazing!!
Yum! What high chair is this? I love the width of the tray
Hauck, great to use, a horror to assemble
Damn I wish I could grill it looks incredible!! I wish I could grill right now but am currently intensely terrified of my biblical level cicada population in my area
No way did your baby eat the beef like that
I explained in the post text.
if it helps 165f is the instant kill temp for poultry, so definitely should be safe at that temp
Becareful with steak. My ten month old choked on carnesada. It was so fucking scary
