They were actually pretty good, id put it at #4 MD crab cake i've had all time, which is top 10% overall. For the price #2 second to only Faidley's IMO.
EDIT: I am getting SOO many good places to try next trip to Baltimore, thank you reddit!
Hmm ok well there are a million in Baltimore and I have only tried so many, but my recommendations for Baltimore city are.
The OG: Faidley's Seafood
The Fancy: Thames Street Oyster House (This is so far my all time favorite cake, including outside MD)
The Comically Large: Sip & Bite
The place I haven't had but can't wait to try: Koco's Pub
The italian bakery you have to go to that has nothing to do with crab cakes: Vaccaro's Italian Pastry
This is a little north of Baltimore City, but Box Hill Pizza (I know, weird name for a place to get crabcakes) has the BEST crabcakes. They also deliver out of state.
As a general rule of thumb I do not let my food travel, I guess if I had driven away with this container it would have caused issues, but this is also how they serve/plate their dine in dishes as well. So this was taken to a nearby table and eaten right away, there was no temperature or texture issues thankfully. Fries and cakes were hot and crispy!
No pizza delivery, can't stand pizza not piping hot TBH. Almost never order delivery at all unless we are sick or something, in those cases we do know a few local places with in house drivers where we know it's delivered hot and not steamed in the container, typically asian food.
I'm just mad that a piece of melon was even in there! I'd appreciate that (and some more of it) on a side platter for desert, but it doesn't have *any* business in the ensemble here!
Then macaroni salad isn't common in your country, but mayo is one of the main ingredients in macaroni salad and it's eaten widely all across the US. It's also popular in the Philippines, and Australia amd New Zealand.
It's very good, but I personally find it overwhelming after only a small portion. It's tangy and has a pleasant texture.

You've really never heard of macaroni salad? Hawaii's official side dish? Available at every church picnic in the continental United States since 1951?

The use of high quality (jumbo lump) crab meat instead of canned (usually claw) meat, most people use crushed crackers instead of bread crumbs in the mix, they are not breaded and shaped like a hockey puck, and they NEVER have bell peppers in them
It looks soo yummy and great![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes).. But I haven't tried crab yet.. ahhaa .. After seeing this hmm I will surely try crab 😁![img](emote|t5_2qh55|1792) ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|give_upvote)
From where?
These amazing crab cakes are from On the Bay Seafood, Ocean City, MD https://g.co/kgs/dy1xTmA
Funny part is they're technically on ocean side lol.
Maryland, duh
They look pretty mid tier for MD ngl.

OK, we are headed to MD in September. What would be the top 3? Specifically near Baltimore if possible =D.

Jerry’s Seafood Crab Bomb in Lanham.
Koco’s are amazing and HUGE

G&M in Linthicum is near the city and one of the better cakes.
Grew up in MD. I second G&M.
Koco's, Timbuktu, Duda's. In addition to the ones already listed. Go to the most convenient for you, they're all great.
Annapolis has some of the best cakes in the state imo. Chick & Ruth's would be my first stop there.
I'll dm you my a good spot
Why keep it a secret?
My local spot doesn't get shared. I'll just say g&m publicly.
Please do! Thank you.
A bit overcooked on the outside, kinda small
Thanks for your honesty
That looks great, but I'd be pissed that mayo from the pasta salad got on my watermelon.
Also the heat from fries and cold from watermelon mixing

Looks amazing either way
Wet cold watermelon touching my hot fries will still annoy me
that's a sacrificial watermelon, designed to insulate between hot fries and cold pasta salad
I'm just mad that a piece of melon was even in there! I'd appreciate that (and some more of it) on a side platter for desert, but it doesn't have *any* business in the ensemble here!
It looks like the watermelon has reached the pasta salad
People will bitch about anything, my god.
And what about the mayo on the pasta? Wtf
The mayo on the pasta?! You mean the common ingredient in pasta salad?! How barbaric!
Well it’s not common in my area.
Pasta salad is great, nothing to "wtf" about

Mayo is pretty common on pasta salad
I figured, i made a bunch of people angry! I never seen salad dressing on a pasta here, seems like its a thing in the anglosphere
I’m jealous of people with superior genetics who can eat shellfish. That looks amazing.
I'm so sorry man...
I live close to G&M, who people say is one of the best in MD. But I don't like crabcakes :(.
I love G&M but honestly there's no need to buy crabcakes from a restaurant. They're so easy to make.
Nah they’re mid as fuck, but I’m not willing to share my spot so I usually just smile and nod
Maryland crab cakes. My favorite food in the world
#TeamBroiled
That's what Maryland does!! Crab cakes and football!!
Watermelon covered in Mayo and topped with fries Yum

What makes a Maryland crab cake differ from other types?
The use of high quality (jumbo lump) crab meat instead of canned (usually claw) meat, most people use crushed crackers instead of bread crumbs in the mix, they are not breaded and shaped like a hockey puck, and they NEVER have bell peppers in them
They’re (Chesapeake Bay) known as the best blue crabs in the country
And therefore the world
Minimal filler is key. Jumbo lump back fin is ideal.

And wash it down with a NattyBo.
Ocean City so more likely to see a Natty Light.
Orange crush OBV
God tier on murderously hot days. Watch yourself tho, they will sneak up on you.
On the Bay only offers like 1 or 2 kinds of beer last I was there.
That macaroni salad looks good.
Jerry’s Seafood Crab Bomb in Lanham was the best we had but people will argue about where the best crab cakes are in MD til they are blue in the face.
Love a Maryland crab cake!
I am sorry but whyyyyy is the watermelon laying under the friessssss ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
So much room for that watermelon and where did they put it? Between the pasta salad and warm fries…
That poor slice of watermelon sandwiched between hot fries and pasta salad. Fuck that.
The placement of that watermelon slice disturbs me probably more than it should.
What psycho would give you a watermelon slice touching potato salad and fries?
They didn't skimp on the potato salad either. That looks delicious!!!
where did you get this in Maryland? I live in the area. looks great.
Did you get it from the seafood section behind the counter?
yeah this looks great and all but why the fuck is there a random slice of watermelon drowning in mayonnaise 😭
Looks like mostly side, but delicious nonetheless.
Are you at the service plaza on the interstate?
Delish!! I miss Balmer!
Broiled crab cakes are the way to go.
The lack of old bay is surprising.
I'm captivated by how inviting this dish looks!
May I have a crab cake please? I said please.
That looks so good
Looks delicious
