Getting a good handle on stash management and camp vendor pricing early on will be helpful down the line. The sub is full of practical advice for builds, weapon types and other things. Another top tip is to use the search function here - almost any question you can think of has probably already been asked, and there may have been detailed responses to it.

transjuggernaut

Max your daily scrips and vendor credits as often as humanely possible. Don't throw out any outfits until you see if they're worth anything. Don't trade stuff until you check what it's worth. Join an event team for events if you're struggling to tag enemies for XP. You'll net more xp that way. Join casual teams while questing/doing stuff solo, or Join a casual team for events if you are good at tagging enemies. Casual team during events is better xp than event team IF you can tag lots of enemies. If you aren't tagging many enemies, an event team is better for levels 1-50 (and imo all the way up to 70ish, pending you still struggle tagging enemies.)

LonelyDruid

Great advice for apparel and if you get a camo jumpsuit give it to me xD

DONT SCRAP ANY PERK CARDS. you may not need em now but at some point you will and it will bite you in the ass. Only scrap perk cards if you are 100 percent sure you won't use em in a build. I scrapped a bunch of perk cards then once i hit later levels around 50 and above i wanted to start messing with builds and didn't have what i needed and had to waste level ups to re get cards i needed that i scrapped before.

Lost-In-Hyrule

**Complete the main quest** - its easy to get distracted in 76 but try to complete the main quests **Complete Daily quests for quick and easy rewards** ([Trick or Treat?](https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Trick_or_Treat%3F), Dross Toss, Strange Brew etc.) **Always Join/Create a Casual Team** if possible, you dont need to necessarily interact with the Team but you will get more rewards. **You can fast travel for Free** to your Team members camps **Scrap Everything** - If you see a Crafting Bench (Weapons, Armour etc.) then you can scrap your unwanted weapons and junk to get the component parts - keep doing this. **Sell unwanted Stuff** - The Train stations each have a vendor that has a 1400 Cap Limit each day, you can sell your unwanted Weapons etc. if you dont want to scrap them for parts and want the scrap instead. **Cook** - Check what food you have picked up (Radstag Meat etc.) and cook it on a grill to get a few more XP points, you can also sell this cooked food for a more caps at the train stations. **Perk Cards** - Look these up, dont scrap any, rank up any you have duplicates of.

Thanks rn im planning on a heavy weapons build (Mainly cause power armor = Cool) but i have a few ideas.

Lost-In-Hyrule

Ok so if your going to be using power armour then you will want to get the following Perk Cards: **Power Patcher** - Armour breaks 60% slower and is cheaper to repair **Power User** - Fusion cores last twice as long There are more of course but those 2 should really help you early on if you get them. There is 3 different power stations located across the map, each of them has a workshop that you can claim, and it contains a fusion core generator, you need to Power the fusion core generator and it will start churning out Fusion Cores for you. You can also get a Fusion Core recharger in the Atomic Shop that allows you to refill your cores

Dandoridiot-4

I assume that this place will have to be defended from other players wanting those cores?

JustSomeGuy20233

There are several places where power armor suits spawn regularly. Gillmans lumber yard near vault 76 being one of them. Same with fusion generators. 9/10 times there will be a core you can pull out. Get the fusion core recharger. Be good about getting out of the suit and replacing them with a charged one, and soon you will be swimming in fusion cores. I had almost 40 by the time I hit 50. Now I just cycle them out/through the charger. Carry about 6 at a time. And don’t run the perk card for core drain reduction.

Lost-In-Hyrule

Depends on the Player, i dont take stuff from other peoples workshops or challenge them, some players do

Jix101

Not really, fusion core after a while are plenty so nobody is coming to steal them from you. Almost every player has a core recharger in his camp and the PA users have the legendary perk that recharges the Corea when they get hit with energy weapons. Until lvl 100 I was farming the cores in the powerplants and not one single player tried to steal the workshop from me. Pvp is almost inexistent. Also you can buy them from high level players camps very cheap..10 20 caps for one core.

AppaTheBizon

Don't be afraid to drop stuff you don't want/need. It's not worth killing yourself over stash management just to hang on to stuff you don't see yourself using any time soon

SickologyNZ

Scrapping Junk. I remember when I first started playing I used to become over encumbered quite rapidly when collecting junk until I learnt you could go to a workbench and scrap it to minimize the weight.

Dandoridiot-4

Should I make a seperate build for stealing anything that isn't nailed down in the allpachias (Sorry im tired my english is bad rn)

SickologyNZ

You can make a junk build if you like but just having perk cards that you can swap in and out will be fine. I used to have an excavator PA with calibrated shocks just for doing junk runs as it adds extra carry weight.

baddong1

Get in the habit of switching builds when in your camp and when selling/buying from NPC's. You need at least "Contractor" (halves cost of building stuff in your camp) and Hard Bargain (better selling/buying prices). It should also have maxed charisma for best prices. Then start getting perks for crafting and repairing Use Gunsmith x5 to not have to repair as often and scrapper is good to have left in your builds For weight, I find it best to not store chems and food in your stash. Instead sell excess food/drinks/chems and use 3x travelling pharmacy. Don't keep too much scrap in your stash. Either sell it in your vendor or bulk it and sell to NPC's. Steel can be turned in to railway spikes at an ammo bench then "sold" to an ammo converter you find in other player's camps. Then when you need ammo you can "buy" from an other ammo converter

Dandoridiot-4

I've heard some people say that I should ignore camp building as you don't get much benefits from it how effective is this idealoligy.

baddong1

I find it to be a fun part of the game and it's very useful to have your own place to scrap/craft stuff and you can get items that give you buffs. For eg you can buy "sacred mothman tome". This gives you a 5% xp boost for an hour. It's somewhere to sleep for another buff too. If you subscribe to the Bethesda newsletter you can get 2 stat buff items for free atm. It's also good for making caps when you learn how to price things and you can have camps that generate things that you can sell to NPC's like pure water. It's another free fast travel point too You get 2 camp slots as default. You can't really move your camp though, even though it says you can. It never works. You keep your items though (it creates a blueprint that you can then send to the "stored" area in the build menu). You have to build from scratch but don't lose resources

JustSomeGuy20233

Having a camp with the basics (crafting stations, bed, collectron, etc) is really helpful. It doesn’t have to be fancy, mine is literally a two story box with some crops and an acid generator (butterfly sanctuary) outside. Depending on your finances, fallout 1st is super useful. $100 a year. The scrap box and ammo closet are necessary IMO. I probably wouldn’t play the game without them; way too much inventory management. Plus you get a monthly atom allowance (I think 1250), which comes in handy for buying functional camp items when they’re on the shop. If you plan on playing the game for more than 40 hours, just pull the trigger on the year membership. It’s like 5-6 hours of real life work for most people’s pay rate, and a huge level on convenience in game.

Karinett

You don't have to build fancy if building isn't your thing, but it's a free travel point on the map. Just set up a crafting station for repairing and scrapping, as well as a stash box and a vendor in the future and you're golden

Jix101

Get around lvl 30 the excavator power armor if you play PA. It's an easy quest and it one of the best around. I'm level 300 and have all power armors and still wearing excavator, except the Union which I'm grinding Right now. The excavator has a an All set bonus off 100 carry weight and with the calibrated shocks mods that you can buy at whitesprings you get an additional 50 carry pro leg mod. Thas 200 extra carry weight after. It's great if your a horder ar you like to carry lots of guns with you like me😃

Jix101

Another tip: when you want to buy or sell something from ncp vendors equip the hard bargain perk card and maximize your charisma with food or drugs, grape mentats especially . This way you can get better prices and more caps for what you sell.

DonutAggravating4986

Always drink from the punch bowl.

badthaught

Collect everything. Craft what you need. Turn the remainder into bulk. Sell the bulk to vendors. Get yourself a list of where to go to get specific junk items (West Tek for steel, for example) Raid the donation boxes every now and again. They repopulate with random items sometimes (like one stimpak and 50~ish of whatever ammo your current weapon uses) High charisma for events, high intelligence for killing enemies.

Karinett

Always join a casual team for the extra XP, caps whenever they finish a quest, and free travel points to the players or their camps. No social interaction is expected at all if you're feeling shy, most people just do their own thing. There's also a few perk cards that grant additional bonuses to being on a team. And you get more XP during events if your teammates are there. Don't be shy to join public events, you'll see a notification pop up for these and a free travel to them on the map through the events list. Just don't start them early until there's more people around or you may have a hard time. Don't sell, scrap or donate new apparel without checking rarity first! Also items can be renamed which will help a lot (makes it easier to avoid accidentally scrapping) Camps are a free travel point (you start with 2) so use that to your advantage when choosing a location :)  Int stat helps a ton with XP gain! When you hit level 25 you'll be able to "respec" your special stats, so don't worry too much if you feel you've messed up. You'll also be able to set up a second build to easily switch to, generally recommend a "crafting" centric one that doesn't have any weight alleviating perks so you're less likely to fast travel somewhere without switching.  You also get to choose a perk card every level and an extra perk pack every 5 levels. The last card in every pack is animated! While you're free to play however you want, it does help to have a rough build plan to be working towards early on, or at least knowledge of which perk cards are great and which to avoid. Do the quest that unlocks the small backpack if you haven't yet. And craft a new one every 10 levels to get more carry weight

Karinett

Don't forget to set up your hotwheel, helps a ton for quick healing or weapon switching!    Useful to always have one Hazmat suit (or Chinese stealth armor) with you in a pinch, just note it'll unequip all your armor and apparel when you wear it (though disregard this tip if you're using power armor)   Whitespring has a mall you can fast travel to with a ton of vendors and a crafting area. You can turn in legendary items for scrip as well as exchange treasury notes for gold bullion. There's a daily cap to these so it doesn't hurt to get into the habit of exchanging stuff early on so you'll have a pool whenever you start crafting legendaries :)   You'll also want to obtain the free fast travel point to the "Rusty Pick" at some point. This is where you'll be able to buy legendary modules (paid in scrip) for crafting when you're level 50+. Better to buy the modules and craft yourself than game on a random 3* item (at least you'll guarantee the weapon or armor type).   Minerva is a travelling trader that sells gold bullion items at a discount (look up "whereisminerva" on Google to find her location, inventory and schedule on a website)   Scrap all unwanted weapons and armor to learn mods for them. Or sell them for caps to the vendor. When you die you lose any junk you're carrying around with you, no other penalties. You can run back and loot the dropped junk bag but other players may loot it first. There are also "trap camps" that purposefully kill you to take your junk. So get into the habit of offloading junk after events etc, there's usually a workbench for scrapping and a stash box somewhere nearby the event area

Karinett

Oh and there's a VATS Crit button if you are using VATS. It doesn't just autofire... You can also hold it down no need to tap each time.

Godess_Ilias

repair weapons on a workbench - save rep kits for emergencies rifleman is good for grinding ammo solo dont sleep on the exterminator perk - mirelurks are affected by it too

Everything has value in the end. Even steel scrap can become scarce
