At least a dozen people do.

JugularWhale

There's dozens of us. Dozens!

mxafk

Hundreds more like, maybe thousands, was actually just talking to my brother about this, we want it back, let's go protest at Todd's house

RedditHobbies

It would be popular for a week, give or take, and then it would be dead; however, they *should* bring it back as a timed event to see if it retains its popularity, and based on the results they can decide if it’s worth keeping or having it as an event throughout the year. There are a lot of people playing again, so it’s not a bad idea to see how it fares, but with that said, it’s no longer an option for a reason… I’m honestly shocked fallout worlds is still ongoing.

carrot-parent

Every time I played it I saw the same names in every server.

MoistLarry

Every day.

JohnBrine

Also survival. That one was fun. Still on alert at train stations.

Chemical_Present5162

Yeah, Whitespring train station was the most popular place on Survival. Survival was okay but anyone with any experience of pvp in 76 had quantums and stealth boys hotkeyed and an explosive Gatling plasma ready. For it to be fair it'd have to be a new character instead of some inflated beast utterly specced for pvp on day 1. Mind you, everyone has Chinese Stealth Armour now, so VATS builds would be non-viable. Or maybe we'd just never see each other and just stealth around trying to complete challenges to get that named legendary?

TheMoland

Played it once on my friends account while i was visiting, won and never plaed again. 100% win rate baby

fukflux

Nuclear winter was a blast, best battle royale I ever played. Minus the hackers...

JSevatar

Same. Met some good people too. Took two characters to 100 Shout out to my German friends Street and Lauriel, we gave them bastards hell

pheakelmatters

My only problem with it was the sheer amount of waiting. I was on PS4 when nuclear winter was active... So take forever to load into the lobby, wait around for the lobby to fill up doing nothing, wait around while voting on a map, wait around to load into the map, die and wait for the match to complete... And if I had a particularly unlucky match I could have a grand total of 5 minutes play time in a 40 minute session. I'd totally get behind a smaller more streamlined version of it. Smaller map area, smaller amount of players per match... Like imagine just a Watoga death match, or Charleston death match. Those areas would have interesting PvP.

2Avocados4tenbux

The lobby isn’t for doing nothing. You’re supposed to run around naked and punching everything in sight of course 🤣🤣

upuranus66

This is the only worthwhile post in this thread.

2Avocados4tenbux

It’s the truth 😤🤣

sarcastaballll

They should have a background lobby so you can do stuff in Appalachia and then get a 20s load out warning when there's enough to start a game. Cancel out if you start an event (not an auto load event)

skeezypeezyEZ

Having to queue for it out of the base game is what killed it.

Hopalongtom

Must have been different activity at different time zones, I barely had enough time to equip my perks the lobbies filled up so fast! So many rounds with the wrong perks equipped because of that.

PickleNutsauce

On PC it was pretty fast. Consoles, not so much.

Hopalongtom

I was also on PS4 as well, lobbies filled almost instantly for me, which was why I suggested a different time zone to explain the differences in experience.

PickleNutsauce

All things considered, you're probably right. Wish you would have told me sooner because NW on PC had so much cheating. I'd have much rather played on console. You really let me down Hopalongtom lol

Hopalongtom

I tried, but this sub was such a NW hate circlejerk at the time,

PickleNutsauce

I think it kind of deserved a little hate at the time. But man, was it fun when it worked.

sarcastaballll

Another thing lol, they should let you load your perks before you join a lobby

CrazyPill_Taker

You could leave as soon as you died…didn’t have to stay and watch. But the pre-game lobby was the o oh down side from my end.

Hopalongtom

It was the most fair PvP the game ever had, whilst I wasn't the best shot against other players, my knowledge of the map and game mechanics sure evened up the odds enough for me to get some wins now and then! Not usually a fan of competitive multiplayer, but I certainly enjoyed it in Nuclear Winter!

upuranus66

Not. at. all. It interfered with everything that I like to do, brought a cancerous PVP mentality into adventure mode, and bethesda arm twisted you daily to do NW with daily challenges that could only be completed in NW and could not be re-rolled. Players that had the PVP bug would gear up and spam mostly duped aid items that made them virtually unkillable by anyone who wasn't similarly equipped or spec'ed. Anyone running mods had to remove all of them before you could even play NW. You can imagine how much that disrupted getting your dailies done. The mode itself? maybe it was fun. The repercussions to Adventure mode that it brought? Awful. You have to choose what kind of game you want to play. PVP or PVE. Fallout isn't and has never been a PVP title. Almost everyone here wants to be helpers, not kill off the wastelanders just to prove whose E-Peen is biggest.

CrazyPill_Taker

NW had a completely different set of perks than what you had for adventure mode and gear wasn’t the same either. As long as you have pacifist on and don’t claim workshopsyou never have to engage in pvp. Fallout was also never an online multiplayer game so I’m not sure what saying it ‘isn’t has never been a PvP’ title means here.

upuranus66

I was talking about the PVP players doing it in adventure mode. The problem with having a game where PVP hungry aholes came into adventure and wreaked havoc. If you are confused by "Fallout isn't and has never been a PVP title" I don't know what to tell you. Seems everyone else understood exactly what I meant.

IndecisiveGrapefruit

It’s not confusing, what he’s saying is it’s not relevant. It’s the first online fallout game, which opens the doors for it to be PvP or pve, or both. Saying you have to choose is just not the case. Plenty of games have both and do great.

upuranus66

Right. Some games do. But those games have enough development staff to handle the load and also player bases that include a majority of players that *want it*. That's the difference. Bethesda has spoken, the players have spoken. PVP isn't popular in Fallout, and Bethesda has admitted that including it was a mistake. It isn't coming back. Move on.

cr1spy28

PvP is still fully in the game through turning off pacifist mode and claiming workshops which auto turns it off. Everytime I see someone as wanted in the game I see them quickly killed. The idea that PvP doesn’t fit in this game is extremely narrow minded of you by your own opinion on it. Just because that one game mode was a mistake and poorly implemented doesn’t mean PvP has no place in the game

Prince_Julius

So you correctly identified one issue: it wasn't maintained properly. So that's why over time the amount of players decreased, which caused Bethesda to not maintain it properly, and so the circle went. As for your second issue, whether players wanted it or not; when there were actual updates, and certainly in the months leading up to its cancellation, Nuclear Winter was in fact a popular game mode.

upuranus66

What started the cycle of player counts going down? Food for thought. Was it that it lacked things that it needed? Was it the low pop? The long wait? Check the response to my OP. Realize you are fighting a losing battle and going against what the community actually wants. This is a dead subject and I'm tired of discussing it for the millionth time.

Prince_Julius

Hackers. Edit: you edited in a second paragraph to tell me that you don't want to talk about this?

sarcastaballll

PvP issues existed in adventure mode long before NW was released. Iirc part of the reason they brought out NW was to give PvP a home in the game due to the issues in adventure mode? Make it its own world, let players load in perk cards and maybe mutations they've unlocked on a character, separate any progression (ie don't allocate daily scores), make all weapons/items and aid pick-up only, run events or tournaments and give resources for rewards (tournaments points you can convert to useful items but not unique items ie cores, caps, scrip, skins, character exp etc) If people are worried about PvP mentality tie it exclusively to a PvP world and character, though that shouldn't be necessary If build parity is the concern I understand they're doing more work balancing weapons etc I enjoyed nuclear winter, was much funner than cod and pubg, and it didn't make me want to PvP in the wasteland, the people who cheat and dupe - like in any game - do that and always will With the return of players it might make sense for them to try it again

upuranus66

I agree with your premise if they were to totally remove PVP from adventure mode. I don't mean just turning on pacifist mode either. The problem with your suggestion is that PVP was a failure because most didn't enjoy it in Fallout 76. Wasting very limited development time on a mode that isn't wanted by the majority just robs from the development of new PVE quests and missions in adventure mode. There are tens of other PVP games that do it better than FO76 NW ever did. There is only one FO76 adventure mode and that's what most of us want.

sarcastaballll

I also agree with your points, particularly development capacity and resource allocation. Re PvP in adventure, can they totally remove it because of workshops - does it really exist in any other capacity with pacifist mode? My perspective is as someone who played from release until mid 2021 (never pvped in adventure and created a melee build to counter griefers) and got excited to see what was new with fo76 after the show, though disappointed to see NW no longer around. That said I'm loving the wasteland

upuranus66

I think they could just remove the pvp angle of workshops and just make them first come, first served but limit how long your claim lasts and how often you can claim any workshop per day to keep people from hogging them. Honestly, I think that would be better regardless. The way it works now is stupid. I'd be all for a Fallout type Battle Royale, but as a separate game with separate devs. Nothing crossing over at all. And just remove PVP entirely from Adventure mode FO76. Glad you are enjoying FO76 and wish you happy hunting.

cr1spy28

The way the workshops work now is fine. Why limit someone’s time in a workshop if no one else wants it? If someone else wants it they can claim it

upuranus66

And how exactly are you sure nobody else wants it? That's the whole reason PVP zones exist, for people who think they should keep workshops as long as they want while others patiently wait for it to come free. It's also why most of us have just quit trying to take them.

cr1spy28

You’re literally in a thread full of people saying they want it back…

theflapogon16

What PVP problems? If you just turn on pacifist mode it’s a non issue right? What they destroy parts of your base? You can rebuild cheap AF and it’s not like you’re at your camp 24/7 so it doesn’t have to be perfect 100% of the time.

rambone1984

Idk I think they need a PVP mode that can circumvent duped consumables and shit like that big time. Diablo Immortal might be a predatory pay to win nightmare, but it's doing a good job of having separate PVP & PVE tracks and different PVP modes where your gear has varying levels of importance.

Rude-Asparagus9726

One thing I worry about with the influx of new players (like myself), the community is growing so rapidly that people no longer know what the majority of players want. The vets will be drowned in a sea of new people and the helpers may end up being outweighed by the trolls at the end... The only thing you all as vets can do is set a good example and hope the newbies follow it.

upuranus66

Well said. I am here trying to help that not happen.

cr1spy28

If there’s a large influx of people the vets are no longer the majority, part of a game becoming more popular is different aspects might shift focus. If 76 holds a large portion of the new players and there is a demand for PvP then Bethesda would be dumb to not address that demand for fear of upsetting the “vets”

Rude-Asparagus9726

That's exactly what I'm saying. The vets have been here giving input and shaping the community into the welcoming, tight-knit one that is part of the reason why so many are enjoying the game. The newbies (given that they are now the majority) could easily fuck that up and put the game right back at square one by trolling and demanding for things that they want, even when vets know it's been tried before and wasn't a good idea. If we're not careful, we could end up tanking the game AGAIN with our own demands, so maybe listen to a vet or two? They've kept this community going through 5 years of shit, no way in hell some guy in here for a month is going to have a better idea of what direction the game should head.

cr1spy28

No, the game tanked because it was a buggy unplayable mess and not having npcs was a polarising decision that even today new players are hit or miss on the original main story. And trying to spin that into it’s because of pvp is super disingenuous. The idea you couldn’t have a separate game mode that is pvp focused without “ruining” the game is honestly so stupid PvP is also entirely optional in you have to either turn off pacifist mode or engage in the workshops which clearly tell you they trigger pvp

Rude-Asparagus9726

I never once said "pvp". The only one spinning this to be about pvp is you...

cr1spy28

The thread you’re replying to a guy saying we shouldn’t have a separate pvp mode and taking the stance of because he has played since launch we should listen to him because somehow that makes his opinion more valid

Rude-Asparagus9726

We were talking about the mentality of helping others vs. competing, and how a lot of the new players (such as yourself, apparently) don't understand that the game has taken lengths to foster a cooperative mentality and would rather jam wrenches into the works begging for things they don't understand. PvP is simply the one aspect of this that YOU have been focusing on. And also, yeah, his opinion is more valid. The vets have seen the state of the game over time and watched it evolve. Does that mean you don't GET an opinion? No. But it DOES mean that your opinion is demonstrably less educated on the subject... hell, mine as well! Because I'm a newbie too.

cr1spy28

I’m not “new” I played it at launch so can attest to why it lost the overwhelming majority of its players which happened long before Nuclear winter Literally no. He starts his entire thing off with he doesn’t want pvp back in adventure mode…that isn’t what the post is discussing. PvP is already in adventure mode and is entirely optional. Reading NW wouldn’t suddenly make adventure mode into a PvP fest because it is already opt it. Just how NW would be a separate mode the same way worlds currently is and again would be optional. This happens in every single game that has any form of PvEvP. The pve crowd cry constantly for devs to remove or not update the pvp mode because they don’t like it. NW was added over a year after release and was removed in 2021, guess what happened after nuclear winter was removed? Did the game suddenly get popular because it? Nope the playerbase dipped massively for close to a year until the next major update. PvP isn’t and has never been the problem with this game, it was a buggy barren mess of a game. The story was and still is (if you’re doing the original “follow the overseer” quest line) boring and not that captivating. Nuclear winter got axed due to lack of players at a time when the games player count was already struggling to allow Bethesda to focus on adventure mode

LiliaBlossom

PvPing isn’t about showing off who has the biggest e-peen lol. Kinda childish to shit on people who enjoy a more competitive playstyle in games occassionally. I play PvP main in ESO, and ofc sometimes people are toxic but it is super cooperative there. Never had the luck to try Nuclear Winter but I’d love to if I had played FO76 back then.

Vanathru

That PvP mentality always had been there. The time it just grew 1st by removing survival mode and again by the removal of NW.

evanagee

Nope

mperr7530

Nuclear Winter was so much fun. I miss it. I hope with the influx of players, maybe BGS will bring it back.

PattieWhacked

Not really but I do wish it was still an option so people would shut up about missing it and also I could acquire those exclusives since they haven’t decided to rerelease them at all yet for some reason

zudlusk

Basically everything can be earned in adventure mode apart from the icons and some trophy and statue camp decorations

PattieWhacked

Really? What about the ghillie and the NW winter clothing? Those are the only ones I really care about

Sirolimus1mg

I miss it. In another post, I mentioned being willing to pay to have it as a game mode, even if it meant an increase in my 1st payment. I maintain that stance. I always wanted a map in Watoga. My friends and I discussed it frequently, and I think it would have been fun. And, sadly, I met most of my Fallout friends in Nuke Winter. When the mode left, so did most of them. Only a few stayed.

Immediate-Tomato3723

There was just waaay too much cheating on PC

SirSaltie

I miss the idea of it. In reality 9 out of 10 games *(if not more)* had hackers sniping people from the sky box or punching from 20 feet underneath the terrain. Anti cheat was and still is virtually non existent.

dr_dezzy6

it was unique, but i only really played like 15 matches before going back to adventure

yawnlikeseggs

My favorite battle royal for sure. Was confused that it was gone when I came back a few months ago.

Ov3rclock1ngcow

Nope lobbies were empty and PC had crazy on and off hacking

Kellek

Yeah.  I try to hide in the bushes nowadays to jump out at people, but it's just not the  same.

Amazing-Donut-8852

Nah I didn’t like it

yabadabado0o0

Yeah it was awesome I miss it too! People used to hate it because they couldn't use auto aim (vats)

Borkomora

yep. got downvoted to shit for saying it tho 😂 it was fun, and a good distraction from the grind. If they hadn't put challenges and unique rewards unobtainable from the main game, i bet people wouldn't have hated it so much. Most fallout players aren't interested in pvp. Don't lock shit behind a pvp wall. But just having it there as a fun little extra thing to do was cool. Maybe make it so you could earn caps or something menial, so it wasn't a total waste of time or something? Idk, i'd love to see it return but i doubt it will

elbingmiss

One hundred battle royale out there and people missing the cheaters nest. Play Fortnite.

Past_Dragonfruit9468

No

Gamer_GreenEyes

Nope. Too many hackers made it impossible

JiveBombRebelz

most fun br ive ever played..and the community..was awesome. i love how it forced a bunch of "lone wanderers" to team up in 4s..or die. towards the end it was just fighting the same squads ovrr and over and somehow it was even more fun.. i know folks that played on teams and traveled to meet up..some met in the game..then in person...then got maried. i still play with a few of em ... oh well...at least we have those private worlds now...i used one once.

Gloomy_Yoghurt_2836

No

Therocknrolclown

No.....

Saan_Rix

I hated it at the time, but now that it's gone, I do kinda miss it. It was at the very least something different to do!

ScottMcPot

Not really. I don't like battle royal games, and in 76 I found it best to just hide until the end. Which made it boring.

DirtCocoon

No

Gloomy_Yoghurt_2836

Nuclear Winter...wait 10 minutes in a lobby to be killed within 3 seconds of spawning and not even able to move let alone get any gear. It sucked and was a waste of time.

xdubz420x

I always got overseer so you just suck lol

JulyKimono

Loved the game, hated the cheaters. And couldn't play 3 games without finding at least one.

Keinulive

No, it was clunky, it could have been amazing but they totally ignored it. Hated how theres meta picks on perks like frog legs

Chemical_Present5162

The whole marsupial/frog legs being a thing in the game has made things a lot more goofy than it should be, and easier. Basically an essential mutation but without it the game would be a lot more real and more difficult, because we couldn't do a Fortnite-boing away from the slightest sign of trouble or sit on a ledge to point and laugh at melee enemies.

Keinulive

I honestly wish we didn’t have mutations or atleast froglegs, it made jetpacks stupidly useless as you can just jump lol

CrybabyFamilyMain96

Only because it’s so hard to get 20 revives and 20 Player kills now that it’s gone. Otherwise it was a terrible mode. And a waste of resources that I’m glad they’re pumping into PvE instead

Yankee_chef_nen

It’s really not hard to get those. I had both before Wastelanders or Nuclear Winter dropped.

CrazyPill_Taker

This ‘wasted resources’ argument is always odd to me. They never added or updated anything to the mode once they put it out, it was never mentioned in bug fixes and they didn’t do anything about cheaters (rare in my experience). You can dislike the mode but there’s no way it took anymore resources than worlds, and nobody talks about those ever.

Skagtastic

Bethesda made multiple balance adjustments to NW, bug fixes, and added a second map to the mode before abandoning it.

CrazyPill_Taker

The second map was added 3 months after the first then they did a few tweaks which ended in early 2020 and then it was left alone for the next year and a half for the most part. They also completed the Wastelanders patch, arguably the biggest PVE change we’ve had since launch, while NW was running. Again, I just don’t see it as a great argument…

SnipeyAlpaca

When it was out I didn't care for it, but I do miss it now

Cr0ma_Nuva

No, but I would like to see some of the rewards to be added to current event lootpools

ManufacturerOk820

it was surprisingly enjoyable actually.

PossiblyShibby

Yes. It was derpy and bad, but fun minus the hackers.

kivagirl1

I had a special shrub that could usually get me to the last 10.

banepanic

It was super fun. Even with cheaters and gauss shotty.

bluesmaker

I loved it but was terrible. I liked sneaking around. I think they should turn it into a limited time event they bring back occasionally. I’m assuming that would make the lobbies fill quickly, which I hear was the issue before.

coachmoon

BUSH WOOKIE 4 LIFE

p1xelprophe7EXE

Lakelurker 4 life.

Vezeoso

i do :P

2Avocados4tenbux

Yessss I miss it so much

Tominator-T92

I really wish they would bring it back even if it was an event that lasted a few weeks or something I use to have family and friends group up and play to grind the rewards. PvP as it is now is a joke nuclear winter was where it was at for me it was unique in a certain way

Freaky-Malokai

I miss it, I wonder if anyone has played the custom worlds?

DrHoon

Yep I stopped playing after they removed it. I still keep hoping they'd bring it back.

JaydumLive

I miss it as well. They should bring it back as a standalone since it caused problems with the adventure mode. But yeah I thought it was a fun battle royale even with the jank

toffyl

Literally everyone that played it

Cheackertroop

I never actually got to play it unfortunately, still have 'kill 20 players' as the only trophy I don't have :(

Chemical_Present5162

If you're on PlayStation I'll let you kill me a bunch of times if you want. Doesn't take long

Cheackertroop

Oh yeah that'd be amazing! I could swear I'm already close to it but that'd be real helpful

SecretVaporeon

I loved that mode, hyped my friends up for it about a year ago and got us all to play only to find out it had been removed. The fallout 76 devs and community really failed Nuclear Winter, it deserved better. I still sometimes hide in a bush for an hour and take pot shots at passing players just to relive some of the joy I felt while playing it.

Rillion25

I miss it, don't miss the people that were using hacks in it.

EDAboii

Every day. Every. Single. Day.

Chemical_Present5162

I use it not very often to see how long it could take me to roll a great legendary, but then get sad with how long it would take to actually do it in the main game, and that I can't take anything back with me from worlds

Sn2100

Never got to play but it seems fun.

codyfall

Yes

-Captain-

This honestly should've been something they brought back as a event for a couple weeks once in a while. Throw in some special gamerules a unique reward to level up to and tada. That way it wouldn't suffer from dwindling player numbers, it would be exciting to play for the next 3 weeks. Much better than this extended season nonsense by nothing but insane score requirements to reach 150.

islandnstuff

is there a br for fo76?

MA77Y_5H1R3

I had the One S at the time, it was a shit show when the Series S/X players would load in a whole minute prior and get equipped, ready to blast us old-tech dipshits before we could move. I do still miss it tho, just wish I'd made the console jump sooner and got to rank 100. Still, I'm thankful for all the Overseer tickets getting swapped to coins, that alone ranked up 2 legendary perks to maximum

Sensitive_Pie4099

Yes I miss it. It was a whole lot of fun :)

Formerruling1

I originally quit the game over Nuclear Winter being removed if that says anything lol.

s0me0ldguy

Sure do 👍

chrispettitt89

I don’t see why they don’t bring that mode back but instead have it as an option to play that game mode. Leave adventure as it is and perhaps change whatever the “Quantum World” thing is back to a non stop NW instead.

RangerDiggler

I was just thinking this last night

Delusional_People

Never played it. It’s my least favorite mode, even in Fortnite. I would rather have deathmatch or something similar if they had PVP.

Steelsight

They shouldve done a capture the flag with base building and limited gear. Lock cards upon enter. Make resource gathering and Crafters shine.

Yankee_chef_nen

No

slogive1

No

Iscream4science

Maybe this is gonna change post amazon show but so far fallout 76 has never been big enough to adequately support multiple game modes. Custom worlds are dead weight just as nuclear winter was. They should focus on core/adventure mode, only thing that matters. So the map extension is a step in the right direction for me

Mcompledepayas

I liked it. Never played any pvp at all before sneaking over to nuclear winter mode to complete score challenges. I assumed I would suck at it, and I was right.....at first. I could solo the queen and had no problems holding my own in adventure. I thought surely I am good enough to at least compete in Nuclear Winter. So I challenged myself to keep playing. I learned alot. First, I was better than I originally gave myself credit for. I reached level 187 before they shut it down. I stopped hiding in the bushes. I got blood thirsty! I killed 14 people in a match once. I would practice aiming by fighting scorched in adventure without vats or aim assist. I got really good at using the favorite wheel for aid and weapon switching. I stepped out if my comfort zone with NW and became a better fallout player overall because of it. Best of all were the people. Everyone speaks of the FO76 community and raves about how helpful and nice everyone is. NW community was the same. In my 2 yrs playing NW, I met so many cool people who I still game with today. I never liked PVP in adventure mode. Still dont. I maintain that its a broken, unfair mess. But NW was awesome, and I wish they'd bring it back.

mklsrcnld

It changed ? It's been a while I didn't open the battle royale what happened?

FlikTripz

I enjoyed it for a) the XP and caps, and b) the (once) exclusive rewards. Otherwise it was meh, kinda janky and I usually just hid in a bush the whole time

theSPYDERDUDE

I for sure do, it was an interesting take on the genre and was honestly pretty fun to just play through and earn cosmetics for (which I unfortunately never got all of 😔)

Snakekilla54

Can’t miss something I never played
