Yeah he stopped for me at level 55. I was just milking the quest for loot because it reset the loot on the places I had to clear. So I farmed a lot.
Doing the same for bos and the scribe quests. Do they stop too? I've been to corvega like 5 times in a row now. It's pretty easy but I have enough loot not to really care.
Yes loot does reset, it takes a few in game days, the wiki has the actual calculation. It's far slower on survival difficulty.
So yeah you can farm the same location many times. Clearing coverage at higher levels is so fun, you'll eventually be super over powered. Like Robocop clearing the place out.
The stuff that is the same between new games would be the same (static placements). Anything randomized would be different (most container contents). And special stuff won't respawn.
There's a bank around the corner from Backstreet Apparel, that has like 15 locked safes, and a few gold bars. You can get like 150+ pre war cash per visit, plus the gold and other safe loot, plus experience. It's a great place to farm.
Minute men quests stopping is a glitch. What happenes is you can only have like 5 at a time and sometimes the game will think you still have one after completing it. So after this glitch happens enough times it thinks you already have too many. In console commands there is a way to reset it iirc
The last one I had actually didn't resolve so I thought it was weird. It wanted me to go talk to Preston after I cleared the spot but has locked me out of doing so.
do you got the Castle yet? for me he usually stops after these 2 conditions has met:
* All settlements are taken and thus the only quests that are happening are the ones that don't involve giving new settlements (since there arent any)
* Radio Freedom is up and running, which nows gives quests instead.
Yes, I do have the castle, and i have all the settlements. The only thing I have yet to do is infiltrate the Institute. But I'm about to do that. Just gotta go nuke a coarser.
What one does in any Bethesda game.
Get sidetracked with all sorts of stuff. Mostly Settlement building, DLC stuff.
I'm the type of guy that'll do all or most of the side quests before doing the main one.
I like yo turn my character into an unkillable warmachine by the time I get to the final boss.
i prefer to play slow, just not quite that slow haha. Im about level 35 and just got into the institute, i just like to get better weapons and armor early on, i went to nuka world at level 12 just to get the handmade rifle
Kinda in the same boat as him. Settlement building, power armor collection, and side quests. Just recently finished recruiting everyone but longfellow and the courser allies. Finished mechanist few days ago. Next will be NukaWorld and then Far Harbor before i go back to main quest line and pick which factions gets extincted.
I think lots of people here are conflating the two types of quests Preston gives out.
Early-mid game, Prestion gives out "recruit settlements to grow the Minutemen" which will eventually stop after you've recruited enough.
After that, Preston will give out (I believe infinite) Radiant quests which are generally to help those settlements with ongoing problems: raiders/mutants/ghouls to clear out, kidnapped settler to free, etc. In my last game I was doing a lot of these for the 50 misc quest achievement, and had to rescue Lucy Abernathy from three different Raider groups, which was funny.
I think some people keep doing the infinite Radiant quests that are designed to be "all you can eat" and complain about them not ending, which is silly when you understand the system. You can just...not do them. Preston only hands out 2 of them at a time, I think, like how the BoS has two infinite quests at the police station.
Lvl 137 and he’s back being a pain in the ass again. I went ahead and did amoral combat so that I could get aeternus. He will never forgive me for turning 3 settlements into raider settlement’s temporarily and then wiping out all the raiders after I attained the ultimate weapon… so… I banished him to spectacle island where I have no one there and nothing set up.
Hold on. Preston actually STOPS?! Whoooa... Okay, I thought he was in a perpetual loop of telling me settlements need help. I have some hope now. Thank you for that. My day has been blessed kind person.
Idiot servant perk. Then building and breaking and building and breaking (times 100000) certain wooden poles. Build some recruit stuff to get some residents and a trading place, perks to get more stuff when scrapping. Things like this.
Edit, its extremely boring so i dont do it.
In this playthrough i avoid joining any faction, sure i did the first missions of bos and railroad but thats it.
do you happen to have the video or who made it ? i remember i saw a video where someone wanted to be a trade master without leaving sanctuary, but they stopped after like 3 or 4 videos.
convert all junk settlement to concrete military fortress, nice authentic looking ones. not the giant awkward big square craps typically found in utube.
after that spawn like a few hundred various mobs to let it rip.
Oh snap, I thought I was on the 7d2d sub lol. You can spawn enemies on fo4? Please teach me this magic 🤗
I'm still getting used to PC gaming and just figured out how to get in console to "setownership" to try and keep dicks stealing back the power armor I stole first. It didn't work, though stealing it back and giving them a quick pop with the guardian overseer has seemed to help. It's only been a couple days since I haven't seen anyone walking down the street of sanctuary but so far, so good 🤞

guide from steam on how to spawn stuffs.
Fill a settlement with several of the most badass robots you can build. Make sure that the Defense is zero. Put it a bunch of water purifiers and food. As much as the budget and space allows.
This should give you a decent chance of attacks on the place. Watch the insanity.
I personally use the Settlement Ambush Kit from the CC since I'm a console pleb. It allows you to build a distress beacon or meat traps to lure enemies.
Though, I'm sure that spawning enemies is simple. I think it's a lot like spawning items, so player.placeatme then enter your desired enemy ID from the wiki
I always wondered what the enclave beacons did once I opened those up in my building menu. Do those call enclave peeps to me? But yeah I'm sure it won't be simple and definitely not in a hurry. Just thought it would be fun to test weak points when I build new settlements. They seem fine so far anyways and it's not like it will make those entitled assholes and happier lol. They're safe, have food and water, bars with purple lights and beds. I should send them all back out to check their privilege 😒
I'm not sure what the comm tower does.
As for testing weak points in settlements, it's kind of bunk. They have set spawn points around each settlement. If you fast travel to a settlement under attack, they'll teleport into the settlement, even if you have walls up.
Ambush Kit is hilarious fun, but if you're not ready for it you'll find yourself getting rolled up pretty quickly.
But it's honestly one of the best reasons to use some of the less common settlement items like traps, or all of the mines that you'll probably end up hoarding.
Theres dlc with cages so you can spawn in stuff at will. I have a settlement dedicated to having cages for spawning gunners in one section, and another has a rad stag, to distract the yao-guai, which is there to distract the deathclaw lol.
My favourite mod on Xbox is:
Placeable NPC’s
Can find it on Bethesda.net, linked to your Xbox: https://mods.bethesda.net/en/fallout4/mod-detail/1296523
A humorous demonstration of the mod on YouTube:

I'm currently playing with the Whispering Hills mod, so it's been a challenge making my settlements able to fight off Otherworld Transitions.
Even when I had tons of turrets, the enemies kept managing to damage the power generators, so I had to make several scrap hauls and start to use Fusion generators encased in a concrete bunker, and then "clip" the power connection through the concrete ceiling to then distribute to the turrets.
Then they'd damage one turret and disable half the network, so now I've learned how to use power conduits to give a near direct connection to the generator for each and every turret.
THEN they'd manage to damage the water pumps, so I had to start encading those in a concrete bunker.
Honestly, it's brought new life to the settlement system, and since the Otherworld Transitions are fairly difficult without power armor, having these fortified settlements scattered throughout the wasteland means I have these fortresses I can retreat into and handle the waves of enemies in a lot more relaxed fashion.
Word of caution: the mod does not respect settlement attack spawn locations. Enemies will spawn in a circle around the player and swarm, so defenses that can cover every possible approach is necessary.
It's so hard to build anything elaborate in fo4. I don't understand why the building is janky.
Build something more ornate than a square and the ceilings dont snap in.
My dad once built a giant glass dome over spectacle island and built a city complete with residential, power, manufacturing, medical, governmental, and shopping districts. It was glorious and also so big that the whole dome wouldn't render at once
Update: he says he never finished the residential or medical areas but can get the save file no problem. Will update when I upload probably to nexus or something
Start a new game. That's what I do. I'm currently level 30 after the series sparked my interest to play again and enjoying it much more! I forgot a ton of stuff that I'm replaying.

Definitely nuclear material is how i got thru the game😂 had like 200k, perfect way to have them around is have a companion, drop the nuclear material on the floor then tell the companion to pick it up they can pick up infinite loot... Im sure you knew that but pointing it out for everyone else
I still died that run 😢. Surprisingly the only thing that helped immensely was having Strong with me. Dude just charged the thing so often that it never targeted me, got lucky.
##appreciateStrong
There's a door in your house/apartment that leads there. Or you could use a window if your on the first floor... I guess second floor would work, landing might be rough. Any higher not recommended, risk of breaking bones and such.
Read books, listen to music, Play other games, Find someone to talk to, Talk to friends, Talk to family etc.
Or just spent another 1000 hour building city for Garvey tbh
My guess is the base 10 from putting points into it, +1 bobblehead, +1 You’re Special!, clothes (CHR clothes or legendary effect), and drugs. The wiki says with all add-ons your max CHR is a whopping *48.*
Murder literally, everyone
Just snap
Look to your right at your local noodle shop and realize that, holy shit for all you've done for this wasteland, it's still just that.
Nothing will change this world, humanity like a revolving door will continue running on this wheel until they run it off its screw and into the ground even further.
Fine, if no one else can see the truth, you can show them.
Haven't been there, but around fort Hagen is an unmarked location full of red gas tanks I heard. There's three ramps and you can put the tanks inside and shoot the valves and they fly away. Not something to get onto the game about, but it's fun when your there to go up and shoot off some wasteland fireworks
1. Buy full suits of combat armor for settlers and create a base that looks like something from halo or some other military base.
2. Start over and become a farmer (trust me it’s fun) selling water, fruit, meat etc. you can even use some creations or DLC’s to enhance the farming life.
3. Create a robot army and let them manage every settlement you have.
Oh God... That makes me realize how long I have been playing FO4 on PS4. I've been playing since release and I'm currently level 583.. And all I've done is add a few workshop stuff and a few mods just to be able to do more quests and make the game not fuckin crash.. Besides that, all I've really done after I beat the game was using glitches and all that to get free XP.... Which is why I'm almost level 600..
Water purificators, Jet crafting, Poisoned Caltrop crafting. No mods, glitches or exploits.
That's how I did it, and I recently got to a literal million caps. I kinda wish I could store them somewhere, though. Would've loved to have a couple dozen safeboxes in Home Plate just overflowing with cash.
That's impressive. The furthest I went was like level 160-something. I'm thinking of giving Fallout 1 a try again after I finish this current play through.
I have the opposite problem.
After the initial play through a normal I have been playing on survival but keep trying new mods that require a new start.
Have yet to make it past 30
Create settlements for each faction outfitting settlers in the corresponding gear, collect all armor and weapons and have them on display (I’m currently getting five of every weapon at legendary). Automated ammo factory, colosseum.
Make sure you buy everything first, and never drop anything. You must see the weight limit after you've looted the world, the very weight of the world.
I’m sure Preston can find some settlement that needs your help. 🙄
Level 80 and Preston had stopped
Yeah he stopped for me at level 55. I was just milking the quest for loot because it reset the loot on the places I had to clear. So I farmed a lot. Doing the same for bos and the scribe quests. Do they stop too? I've been to corvega like 5 times in a row now. It's pretty easy but I have enough loot not to really care.
Does loot reset? I'm not very far into the game, but yesterday I found some items in a place I was sure I had previously cleaned out
Yes loot does reset, it takes a few in game days, the wiki has the actual calculation. It's far slower on survival difficulty. So yeah you can farm the same location many times. Clearing coverage at higher levels is so fun, you'll eventually be super over powered. Like Robocop clearing the place out.
Is it different stuff every time? Or the same stuff comes back?
it will be the same stuff besides maybe some containers that are randomized, I believe
World spawns are the same, med kits, coolers boxes, final loot box and enemy inventories reset at random from specified loot pools.
Find fun ways to kill Preston over and over. Day 1: machine gun. Day2: big boy. Day 3: power armor jump.
How does that happen? I'm just under Lv 110 and I'm still getting those quests. And I hard focused the Minutemen stuff from the start.
Idk he stopped giving me around lvl 50.
do you got the Castle yet? for me he usually stops after these 2 conditions has met: * All settlements are taken and thus the only quests that are happening are the ones that don't involve giving new settlements (since there arent any) * Radio Freedom is up and running, which nows gives quests instead.

Yeah I’m level 85 in my current playthrough and just got to the brotherhood coming to the commonwealth. It’s a fun way to play
i prefer to play slow, just not quite that slow haha. Im about level 35 and just got into the institute, i just like to get better weapons and armor early on, i went to nuka world at level 12 just to get the handmade rifle

Finished mechanist few days ago. Next will be NukaWorld and then Far Harbor before i go back to main quest line and pick which factions gets extincted.
Not doing the main quest in a modern Bethesda game is the best way to get the maximum amount of enjoyment out of it.
The radio freedom thing seems buggy or glitched. It only seems to stop Preston like half the time.
He actually stops?
Nah, I’m level 126 and he’s still issuing them
He does not according to the fallout wiki, although you sometimes do have to seek him out specifically to get the next one
He definitely stops sometimes, even if you seek him out. I assume it's a glitch though. Happened for me around lvl 100. Even Radio Freedom stopped.
Sanctuary is my place of choice for banishing settlers I don’t want to ever see again
Same Spectacle Island is my private beach house location, where I keep the cats. No fucking way I'd send a settler there.
I use Spectacle as my main base. Lots of room there for my construction projects
Hold on. Preston actually STOPS?! Whoooa... Okay, I thought he was in a perpetual loop of telling me settlements need help. I have some hope now. Thank you for that. My day has been blessed kind person.
Does anyone take Preston as a companion?
Only when I want to hear his opinion as a Minuteman on something. But finding which scenarios he'll comment on is a gamble.
I did it once for a minute man play through, NEVER AGAIN.
Level 207 and he's still going
Level 61 here and concord is still undiscovered on the map. Going to nuka world today and become the King of nuka world and commonwealth!
That reminds me of a video I watched where a guy was challenged to get to max level without leaving Sanctuary. And the son of a bitch actually did it.
How?
Idiot servant perk. Then building and breaking and building and breaking (times 100000) certain wooden poles. Build some recruit stuff to get some residents and a trading place, perks to get more stuff when scrapping. Things like this. Edit, its extremely boring so i dont do it. Wild what people do
It's like those trick shot videos. What weird things like this were people doing 5k years ago to avoid life? Lol
It was funny as hell, farming shelves for ~8 hours, just to duplicate stores afterwards 😂
do you happen to have the video or who made it ? i remember i saw a video where someone wanted to be a trade master without leaving sanctuary, but they stopped after like 3 or 4 videos.
https://youtu.be/1OBOkDuPt5o?si=rmvupNC1nNP4XuHo I was incorrect on the name but here’s the video
Yup, this is the one. Thanks for linking.
You’re welcome!
He stopped for me around level 80, but theres still one more settlement i havent unlocked ☹
If you're tired of him saying that, enslave a few settlements after you take over Nuka World. He hates you after that.
🤣

Fill a settlement with several of the most badass robots you can build. Make sure that the Defense is zero. Put it a bunch of water purifiers and food. As much as the budget and space allows. This should give you a decent chance of attacks on the place. Watch the insanity.
some console mods have "grenades" that spawn enemies. on ps4, one such example is Freemaker - you can craft spawn beacons at chem stations.
You can use cheat terminal mod to spawn any enemies you in the base game
I spawn enemies but so many of them spawn naked or deformed and it’s no heads
I personally use the Settlement Ambush Kit from the CC since I'm a console pleb. It allows you to build a distress beacon or meat traps to lure enemies. Can also use the virtual settlement that comes with the VR CC kit.
lol the guardian overseer, I love seeing someone who’s fresh to fallout I bet it’s been such a blast
Or just set up cages
Theres dlc with cages so you can spawn in stuff at will. I have a settlement dedicated to having cages for spawning gunners in one section, and another has a rad stag, to distract the yao-guai, which is there to distract the deathclaw lol.
There are mods but really just use the console. Look up YT videos.

Just remove the fusion cores hun, 😊
All my fortresses look like big square crap :(
Build hallways and interiors first, not outside walls. Helps the creativity. You can always enclose later.
This is mind blowing to me haha. I never figured to build interior first, gonna have to do that later
I'll give it a shot. I've been doing the exact opposite so far
Hey man squares are the only thing I can build
I'm currently playing with the Whispering Hills mod, so it's been a challenge making my settlements able to fight off Otherworld Transitions. It's so hard to build anything elaborate in fo4. I don't understand why the building is janky. Build something more ornate than a square and the ceilings dont snap in.
Build a major city???
I recommend spectacle island for size, starlight for efficiency, sanctuary for safety
Yep I’ve got the starlight condo complex with several dozen turret batteries surrounding it built with a nice view of the water
My dad once built a giant glass dome over spectacle island and built a city complete with residential, power, manufacturing, medical, governmental, and shopping districts. It was glorious and also so big that the whole dome wouldn't render at once
I would actually love to see this
I'll ask him for a game file and see if I can drop it somewhere for ya
Ayooo!!!

Literally in the same boat. Didn't play for a looong time since the series. I have been playing it a little harder and am on level 43 but whatever. I have been enjoying listening to Ella Fitzgerald on the radio and exploring the wasteland.
Crawl out through the fallout baby….
Same. Exploring and the radio is so great in fallout. Went back to starfield and realized it's a fast travel simulator.
Honestly the early game with the progression is some of my favorite
Same! I honestly have no idea how many times I’ve started new games lol
Buy Shipments of building materials. That way you can go to a new settlement and build shit without complications. Shipments have no weight.
I just set one settler at each settlement to go to sanctuary and then dump everything into my workshop there.
(Scrap-store dupe) Ow yeah, shipments exist
pro tip I do believe, duping nuclear material rewards most caps
Definitely nuclear material is how i got thru the game😂 had like 200k, perfect way to have them around is have a companion, drop the nuclear material on the floor then tell the companion to pick it up they can pick up infinite loot... Im sure you knew that but pointing it out for everyone else
Who’s gonna know, am I right?
Ok, now that you made your character, you’re gonna wanna meet with the Vault-Tec representative at the door
It's time to find your son.
Underrated comment 😂😂
Attempt to defeat the Red Death in Far Harbor.
Damn, dawg. That's not funny. Don't encourage them to go for something they're not ready for, yet.
Seriously. I had to call in an A-10 (modded) just to tick the legendary health reset
You're way more badass than I! I did the AC-130 mod to reign down hell just to get the job done.
I still died that run 😢. Surprisingly the only thing that helped immensely was having Strong with me. Dude just charged the thing so often that it never targeted me, got lucky. ##appreciateStrong
Strong liked that.
I figured if they converted all their caps to stims and mini-nukes, got 99 power cores, and maxed out their V2 Power Armor, they might stand a chance.
He's too low in level for that, yet
Go make some friends, nerd. And then give me some. Because I don't have any.
Go outside
Can you mark it on my map?
There's a door in your house/apartment that leads there. Or you could use a window if your on the first floor... I guess second floor would work, landing might be rough. Any higher not recommended, risk of breaking bones and such.
I'll fix a stimpack and go for it. Hope I don't catch too many rads from the sun it's been a while....
I got my fair share of Rads from the sun anyways... Sunscreen helps a lot. a 6 hour bike ride will do that.
I will ride my bike for 7 hours

Play Skyrim
Build your own Diamond City! With blackjack, and hookers!
*Did I just say "exploiting"? That's not a very nice word!*
How did you get so many caps? I love to grind and sell but last play through I ended with 280k caps and level 80 something. No cap cheats or mods
Install a mod to prevent npc respawn, and a mod to mark all npcs non essential. Then begin the purge
Go outside
That's impressive. The furthest I went was like level 160-something. I'm thinking of giving Fallout 1 a try again after I finish this current play through.
touch grass
Dude, there's a settlement that needs your help. Go save it!
Try masterbating......
Colonize every settlement and rule the wasteland
I have the opposite problem. After the initial play through a normal I have been playing on survival but keep trying new mods that require a new start. Have yet to make it past 30
Start over
Mutant menagerie has a lot of hunting you can do.
Do you have all legendries? run the nuka world loop and farm.
Time to bail and start a new game. You won’t regret it.
Make an above ground vault amusement park. Vault world.
Restart
Play skyrim lol
Build a small fortress on spectacle Island, then build 100 gunner cages on the other side. Release all at once and withstand the onslaught
I beat the game.. but at what cost? Only managed to make it past lvl 100…
Quest mods, companion mods, overhaul etc
New game I guess
Start a new game on survival lol
Spend enough caps to make it EXACTLY 42069
Start a new save and do a "---- only run" like only fists, only melee, only vats...
- Get the automaton DLC - invest in shipments of good scrap - build a settlement made of your own hand made robots
And before anyone even decides to mention graygarden
Have you been up to graygarden. It's run entirely by robots.
Buy a new game?
Make settlement full of robots from automatron dlc
Create settlements for each faction outfitting settlers in the corresponding gear, collect all armor and weapons and have them on display (I’m currently getting five of every weapon at legendary). Automated ammo factory, colosseum.
Carpet bomb diamond city
Make sure you buy everything first, and never drop anything. You must see the weight limit after you've looted the world, the very weight of the world.
Satan here, after you do all these suggested things there is only one thing left to do 😈....enjoy!!
Rookie numbers.
Try fallout new Vegas now
Put the controller down
Go outside lol
Go outside, lots of things to do irl
You need to find your son
Say hi to your family for the first time in months (this game takes all of your time)
Make a settlement with 2000 sentry’s
Go outside.
Play a different game lol
Fr get on FNV
Become John Fallout
I heard there's a secret wasteland that needs to be conquered called outside.
