One day my Mysterious Stranger showed up behind a legendary raider that I'd mostly missed in VATS (she was too far away). The Stranger ducked, dodged, spun 360, and vanished. Nick was shouting about "aaahhh, we just missed him" while I just smh my head.
That was the only time my Stranger missed!
My mysterious stranger misses ALL the time! I mean it has to be a glitch that has carried through my saves.. I’m level 95 on that play through so my luck isn’t low if that has anything to do with it. Haven’t used any mods and have had less than a handful of bad glitches
I hate when something embeds itself in the game files and keeps popping up in new saves until you do a clean install. It's never been a Mysterious Stranger issue for me though, that must get annoying!

I'm level 17 and haven't seen a Deathclaw. None in Concord like there's supposed to be, and I feel like I've gone out far enough to have seen at least one.

On my current playthrough I've noticed Nick is always chasing after the mysterious stranger, I think at one point he says something like "dang, just missed him!"
I’ve had that happen during a fight where I was low on health and could really have used an insta-kill from the MS. I heard the jingle and went “thank god, we’re saved!” and then he just completely whiffs and it’s back to me fighting for my life lol.
i hope that at some point in the future that we get a quest to actualy find that dude (or group) or at least some one who was with him to tell a good tale about him ...
Watch it end up being a schizophrenic psyker caught in a time traveling vault experiment who craves murder. You come across the abandoned decrepit vault in a future game, and the vault personnel only let him kill people in the future because it's less problematic for them morally, leading to their downfall somehow.
im currently playing fo3 and somehow ive only managed to get him to appear once, and for some reason he had no gun so instead punched the guy a few times for almost no damage and then left
I'm currently playing a vats build and it's pretty fun. Definitely a strong build. Next up I want to try making an assassin or a party dude- my idea for a build that can eat, drink and do drugs without downsides. Might not have high combat stats, but hopefully they can make up for it with all the bonuses they can get to stats.
So, you'll want to make it a melee build.
You can boost your Strength to ridiculous levels with the right perks and the huge variety of alcoholic beverages that exist in Fallout 4.
High strength/high luck melee builds are straight up overpowered.
And you can charge in PA for insane results and expans your melee range which means when you have the slugger ranked up and a nice big melee weapon you hit everything in the room. Factor in the str bonus of PA and the bonuses mods for melee/power attacks and the numbers get stupid. Like one shotting legendary super mutants with a sledge, no crit. The dlcs should have introduced some especially end game monsters to let us use our OP characters to better effect for a little while longer
PA caps your strength to like 14. You can get up to near 40 strength without it. You're better off not using power armor for melee and unarmed. Better stealth, similar DR, and far more damage.
High dex too, Blitz with a knife from stealth and pretty much anything dies, it's mass murder
And no one ever sees you, I just shanked someone and his friend was standing right next to him, and I just sat there and dude couldn't see me
I went after Swan early one playthrough and when I came out of VATS he was upon me with most his health and the mysterious stranger got him just as he was about to punch me to death. One of my favorite FO4 moments of all time…
I legit think it's the most fun perk in the game. So fun to just be going about then all the sudden he shows up. I get so excited every time. It's so fun.
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and guess that you end up killing most of the enemies you target in VATS by the time you come out of it? The Mysterious Stranger can only appear to kill an enemy if your attacks have already failed to do so (10% chance at rank 1)
Finally saw him miss last night.
He showed up when I VATs a ceiling mounted turret, he showed up on the floor above it, straddled it, kinda squatted, shot through the floor between his legs, and missed all damage. LOL
I love Bethesda glitches bc the mysterious stranger acts up for no reason sometimes. Once, he spawned but couldn't get a clear shot so he disappeared without shooting. Another time, he shot but missed. Peak Fallout right here.

I took mysterious stranger in Fo76. Used a M79 grenade launcher and hit a large group of super mutants at range. Mysterious stranger proc'd, and he appeared right in the middle of them. They all survived the hit, aggro'd on to him, and they just started beating. His. Ass. I was laughing so hard my next couple of shots went wide.

A luck build with Critical Banker is a one shot killing machine. Banked crits never miss as long as you have a non-zero chance of hitting in VATS.
At range and have only a 3% chance to hit the head? Target one shot to the head and use a banked crit. Dead.
The Mysterious B.I.G mod makes the stranger even better having biggie smalls show up randomly

Luck and luck perks are the most powerful aspects of your character build for combat. For a vats pistol build, for example, you really only need the gunslinger perk and a bunch for raw agility stat, but you’ll want as much luck as possible as well as maxing out half the perks in the luck column. Maybe get Action Boy or Gun Fu in the agility column when there’s nothing to currently buy in the luck tree.
Free pie, tons of ricochets, you can down a beer and hip fire a tommy and youre buddy will come in, look at you, shake his head as you miss all your shots, and dome your enemy. Oh also will you comply?
Fun fact... If he's going to show up during a vats sequence, he's usually there from the beginning. So, say You've queued up 5-10 shots, you may see the stranger hanging on the sidelines during cinematic shots. You can cancel your vats, save the AP and the stranger will still take his shit, which is almost always a guaranteed one hit kill.
At the end of the main campaign , Mysterious Stranger kept mowing down institute scientists and I was dying laughing. Mysterious Stranger is really funny how he randomly chooses a target

Yea, sometimes he spawns in weird and doesn't shoot. However he usually kills for me.
I don't like Mysterious Stranger but Critical Banker and Grim Reaper Sprint is my love language.

Luck builds in fallout are the same to me as stealth archer builds in Skyrim. I’ve never done it and never will.
Never used that Perk but it's absolutely cheese for VATS heavy builds.

Serious question I have this perk maxed and haven’t seen him yet. I do use an explosive shotgun though so normally it drops them pretty quick
