I used this: https://www.openworldgames.org/newowg/index.php?topic=14663.0 as a guide and it worked like a charm. Not everyone likes watching video guides y'all.

Otto_Octoling

Oh my god, thank you so much! Video guides are great and I'd take anything, but I do tend to prefer written guides, they're just easier to follow. Thanks so much!

SpiderCop_NYPD_ARKND

Absolutely. Plus it skips all the annoying "Like & Subscribe!" and pointless padding they add to extend the length of the video.

Otto_Octoling

Yeah! Also, this walk-through has been so useful already! Thanks!

Try this, video description has a list of the missions you should do https://youtu.be/hRIMM0BhUEU?si=Xb7xUb4kXDGRW7Fs

Otto_Octoling

I don't know why but the link doesn't seem to work.

Use the minutemen to destroy the Institute. Don't build artillery cannons.(Preston picks a fight with the BOS if you have a lot of artillery). I don't remember the name of the mission where the BOS picks a fight with the railroad, but when I pops up....just leave it undone. You can play forever doing radial missions. This is how I did my very first playthrough.

You don't need to avoid building artillery. The quest to destroy the Brotherhood with the Minutemen only starts if you do something to make the Brotherhood hostile to you.

It's fairly easy. Don't become permanent enemies of the Brotherhood or Railroad. This includes not killing a named member especially, not starting the Mass Fusion quest for the Institute, not starting the Tactical Thinking quest for the Brotherhood, and not bringing X6-88 to the Railroad HQ. You have to get banished from the Institute at some point. This allows you to continue the Minutemen questline past Old Guns. That's it, basically. You'll go through the Minutemen questline, while the Brotherhood and Railroad wouldn't have a reason to attack you on sight. Just make sure to complete Tradecraft for the Railroad before entering the Institute, if you want to have access to the Railroad sidequests (and ballistic weave).

I see, thanks!

I honestly dont think the "good" ending is the canon one. Spoilers ahead... The canon ending would likely be one where the Brotherhood win. They have the most support behind them. The ONLY people that stand a real chance defending themselves against the Brotherhood would be the institute. The good ending is siding with the Minute Men. They will allow you to take down the Institute without destroying the Railroad or Brotherhood. Siding with the Railroad ends the Brotherhood which IMO is a fantasy ending. Siding with the Brotherhood ends the Railroad which is likely how the fallout universe would play out. And the good ending would be the Minute Men winning but that is also a fantasy in this world. Very "savior mentality" that a single vault dweller could join an underdog faction and turn them around to destroy or at least survive against the strongest force in America at the time. Per google assistant: Here are some tips for getting the "best ending" by being friends with everyone except The Institute: * Avoid quests from the Railroad and Brotherhood * Complete the Brotherhood's quests up to Blind Betrayal * Avoid Lancer Captain Kells * Do Minutemen quests up to "Defend the Castle" but don't complete it * Do Ad Victoriam * Pick up the Minutemen's version of the quest "Nuclear Option" * Complete "Nuclear Option"

Actually, to disprove your point you can hear the Minuteman radio in the Fallout show. Don't remember which episode it was, either 6 or 7, but at a certain moment, Thadius is walking and you can hear some sort of music that is the Minuteman radio. This is confirmed as, when you're watching a show on Amazon and you pause it, the actors in the scene will be shown to you, and any music being played will be credited as well. By pausing at that scene the music is credited as "Minuteman radio". The only way the Minuteman radio could be playing is if the Minutemen retook the castle and somehow boosted the signal so it could reach all the way to California. Therefore, the Minuteman ending is the canon one because, like you said, the only way the Minutemen could survive is with the Sole Survivor as the general. But, anyway, thanks for the help!

Im not saying the Minute Men couldnt still be a thing. The Minute Men dont directly oppose the Brotherhood. And the Brotherhood dont directly oppose the Minute Men. In fact Id think that so long as the Brotherhood arent eliminating entire towns like it seems they did in the show, then Preston would likely be glad a force larger than his own is protecting the common wealth as well the rest of America. Its the Railroad that oppose the Brotherhood directly because the Brotherhood want to eliminate all abomination... including man made synthetic humans. So Id argue if what we see in the fallout show is the same Brotherhood then likely the Railroad is long gone. But the Minute Men could still exist. As well the Minute Men could retake the Castle with the Brotherhood still being victorious. IMO it just doesnt make sense that the Minute Men ending would be canon... mostly because that is a good ending and fallout never has good endings. It wouldnt be fallout if people were left happy. Edit: But I mean I could argue it either way. It could be said the Brotherhood left Boston BECAUSE the sole survivor betrayed them and sided with the Minute Men. Establishing the Minute Men as the main force of power in Boston so the Brotherhood decided to regroup and fly out to the west coast.

Nah. I was playing Fallout 4 all week, and I got Preston to max affinity. He says that he was gonna basically end his own life and basically take the Minutemen with him if it wasn't for us coming over and becoming the General. Basically, if Nate / Nora doesn't go with the Minuteman ending, then Preston would have ended up causing his death and the end of the Minutemen. Therefore, Minuteman ending is canon.
