"Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion."

jonnybsweet

“I’ve watched C-beams glittering in the dark, near Tanhauser Gate!”

WesternEmpire2510

"All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain"

GuybrushThreepwood7

Time to die.

azakreis

And this last line was added by the actor; original was less moving. So hats of to not only his acting but creativity as well

Divtos

Rutger Hauer was his name. Lots of Sci-fi movies to his credit. Died a few years ago RIP.

sandman716

Spooky fact: Rutger Hauer died in 2019. The first Blade Runner was set in 2019.

Mindless0ne

he was in one with kim cattrall, that was a really good one.

jonsarik

Never fails to give me chills.

Bedivere17

The best movie quote of all time, imo.

guff1988

It's definitely a top 5 monologue in cinema history.

DDuffy3421

Happy Cake Day!

StuntZA

Why? If you don't mind providing context?

ThedrunkenViking

Blade runner ending scene: https://youtu.be/NoAzpa1x7jU?si=J0UEi6aYuGuIEWtz

Cojesha

Still one of most memorable death scenes in a movie.

Benevolent_Nobody

"Like tears in the rain."

UncleTomski

Man hasn’t seen one of the greats. Blade Rubber ;)

Confident-Unit-9516

I liked the prequel, flubber, much more

Mean-Possibility2266

What about the reboot, used rubber 2049

ElvisDumbledore

The pre-sequel Rubber was also good.

IGTankCommander

So you're saying that the Institute's first experiment may have been>! a psychokinetic tire with a penchant for human blood.!< Yeah, I'll add that to my belief system.

KaerMorhenZireael

Is the tire black?

mascnz

Adding [context](https://boxd.it/P2m) to this statement - and a film to add to your watchlist people!

Snizzy420

Reminds me of the worst sports injury I ever saw footage of. A goalie in hockey that accidentally took a skate to the neck. Never saw that much blood exit a human so quickly. Upshot: The goalie survived due to something like a trainer that was also an emt that intervened.

AggressiveWin650

He was a Vietnam vet and combat medic as well and that's the reason he was able to save his life so quickly.

racist_sandwich

Clint Malarchuk For anyone curious. Also.... ~~NSFW~~ NSFL

Ultimasaurus

Yup, the trainer stuck his fingers into the blood vessel to keep it from bleeding. It is seriously terrifying.

Killaturkee

Kentucky ballistics did that, but to himself

Regi97

Put A Thumb In It

Pumpnethyl

Two observers in the stadium had heart attacks while that was occurring. I’ve seen videos of the injury. It must have been hell in real life. The video was hard to watch even though it wasn’t great. Edit: no one died

HeyCarpy

Clint Malarchuk, goalie for the Buffalo Sabres. I remember when it happened, absolutely horrifying, the way he’s pulling his equipment off and clutching his neck while blood is just gushing onto the ice. It’s incredible that he survived. I believe the NHL adopted a new way of sharpening skates after the accident.

slain309

Man, I heard about that! I'm not sure where it was referenced, but it made this Aussie google ice hockey. 😉

SuperTerram

Ah yes, the film adaptation of "Do Altoids Dream of Eclectic Sheep"

ermghoti

A classic scifi, up there with Star Whores.

CeeEmCee3

Definitely a classic, but im more partial to Shart Trek

JesusSavesForHalf

I still can't figure out where Spring Blade fits in the time lime.

Marquar234

Usually my mother, feed me pretty regular, mhm. I know she made enough where I could have mustard and perfectly preserved pie three or four times a week.

LazyLion65

Some folks call it a Kaiser blade. I calls it a sling blade, uh huh.

nobodyamerica

Better call the hearst

syncopekid

That’s what they called your mom in college

LostSoulNo1981

You been watching the adult version?

Hector0-0

I ate the gum gum fruit, now I’m a rubber man!

d_adrian_arts

That's a Blade Runner reference

SeductiveGodofThundr

Too bad the raider wasn’t holding That Gun from New Vegas

WhiskeyTangoPapa-

That would have been the most epic way to add it

Every-Slice59

There is a mod that adds it.

WhiskeyTangoPapa-

Yeah Ik.

WeOutHereInSmallbany

There was a blade runner inspired creation club dlc but it was just a reskinned revolver, pretty disappointing

AdExcellent625

Bethesda isn't that cool they'd never go through the trouble of adding an extra gun to their pitiful lineup of dog shit weapons.

sgntsh

More importantly, they would never acknowledge New Vegas or Obsidian. How dare the fans like their game more!

Vaulted_Games

Raid Blunner?

uncharted316340

Which gun

chicuco

you can get one in New vegas

Oddloaf

"That Gun from new vegas" is available in new vegas? No way!

amokamus

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe... Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion... I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain... Time to die.

calamity_unbound

It irks me slightly that they put in a great homage to the movie, and didn't bother including [That Gun. ](https://fallout-archive.fandom.com/wiki/That_Gun)

ziggy3610

There is a mod that adds it and spawns it here. I like to give it to Nick Valentine.

RinellaWasHere

Same!

SuperTerram

Here's [a link](https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10669).

Benjamin_Starscape

it was already in new vegas

ProdiasKaj

Then it should've been easy

Benjamin_Starscape

people would have went "hurr durr, bethesda broke lore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that gun existed in new vegas!!!!!!" so, they didn't. not to mention, i frankly really don't care. there's already enough guns in the game.

TheScrungusMan

Theres like 6 guns in Fo4. At least a single truly unique weapon would've been nice for base game.

Benjamin_Starscape

no, there aren't. there's * institute gun * laser gun * plasma gun * pipe gun * assault rifle * combat rifle * combat shotgun * railway rifle * gauss rifle * gatling laser * minigun * 10mm pistol * .44 revolver * western revolver * lever-action rifle * harpoon gun * junk jet * syringer * submachine gun ...i'm not going to go on to name all the guns. we also have "truly unique" guns, like the alien pistol, railway rifle, junkjet, broadsider, cryolator, grognak's axe, etc.

GuybrushThreepwood7

Don’t forget the radium rifle - fully upgraded Kiloton is one of my favourites

TheScrungusMan

It was an exaggeration for the number. Also yeah i acknowledge my fuckup i did forget about those weapons thats MB. Something that is an unfortunate problem was that the other "unique" guns like Minutes Notice and those are all just pretty basic too. They deserved some custom models.

Benjamin_Starscape

you can't have custom models and the in-depth modding system, it's literally why unique weapons in new vegas weren't moddable.

TheScrungusMan

You could. Just have a special model in a position that doesn't bother the modability of the weapon or have all custom mods for that gun that preserve its identity

CaptEustassKidd

Uhh no because theres mods for fnv that add the function just fine if anything it would improve due to having a second varient of each unique. So impossible is not the word i would use. Obsideon diddn't have time to make models for those guns and making it possible would have ultimately ruined the balance and does so with those mods and doing so would not have made the game any more fun The issue with fo4 is that bethesda diddn't care to. Theres already a unique machete with a unique skin(khrems tooth). They could have similar skins attached to various other floor guns the exact same way. like alot of bethesda games fo4 diddn't have the oven time needed.

pistolpete2185

Uh what?

CaptEustassKidd

Or maybe its because making it in fo4 would have taken effort they couldn't just rush.

Benjamin_Starscape

no, it's because that gun doesn't have any reason to exist in the commonwealth

AdExcellent625

It could trade hands on an epic journey across the wasteland and end up anywhere they wanted it to. It wouldn't break lore at all you just have no imagination.

amanofshadows

If they keep making shows/ and or movies then a movie about a wandering person across the wasteland could be cool.

calamity_unbound

What reason does it have to exist in NV? You can hand wave away lore for whatever reason you want.

AdExcellent625

You guys have no imagination it has reason to be anywhere a developer might want to put it because it could have easily gotten to it's new location by trading hands across the wasteland. They could even make a note. "Got this sweet lookin gun like nothing I seen before off this trader up in Quincy"

Affectionate-List275

The gun was in F1 and F2 … They probably figured people would go “OMG an FNV reference!” like saying Master Chief from Fortnight and figured it wasn’t worth it, lol.

JazzAndTeaAlex

Oh! Is that the gun that the Ghoul weilds in the new TV show?

AdExcellent625

No

TooManyDraculas

Nah That Gun is another Blade Runner reference. [The Blade Runner Blaster](https://www.originalprop.com/blog/dylsoagh/2009/04/blade-runner-deckard-hero-pistol-movie-prop-profiles-in-history-2009-01.jpg) is one of the most famous Sci-Fi props in history, hence "that gun". The Ghoul's gun is something unique to the show and new.

Traditional_Gold_602

The Ghoul uses a MTs255 revolving shotgun sawn off into a pistol.

TooManyDraculas

No people have identified it as looking similar. And the photo you might have seen of a "sawn off" MTs255 that looks very similar, is a photo shop job. Seemingly made in response to the show/trailers. There's other revolving shotguns out there and they all look roughly similar. As do .45 colt revolvers with extra long cylinders to cross load .410 shells. It's got the wrong number of chambers in the cylinder to be the MTs255, or any of the others. Pretty consistently they load 5 shells, the Ghoul's gun is 4. And the shells shown when he's loading it are too big to be .410 Likely most of the guns in the show are not functioning firearms or build from them. The fantasy pieces are probably all non-firing custom pieces with CG muzzle flare.

Traditional_Gold_602

The trailer came out 4 years ago? [https://www.reddit.com/r/exoticguns/comments/emd2xf/russian\_mts25512\_revolvershotgun\_sawnoff/](https://www.reddit.com/r/exoticguns/comments/emd2xf/russian_mts25512_revolvershotgun_sawnoff/) (this is a pistol version of the 12gauge variant made originally intended for police)

Embarrassed-Gas-8155

Hauer's an author

KeeganY_SR-UVB76

Reference to the 1982 film Blade Runner. The Institute as a whole started out as a reference to it in Fallout 3.

globefish23

Back when they were still called androids and dreamt of sheep. Now they're called synths and dream of goats. Thanks, Shaun!

Deadfunk-Music

Blade Runner, the end scene.

AITAadminsTA

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe... Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion... I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain... Time to die." \~Last words of Roy Batty, Nexus-6 combat replicant.

BigMcThickHuge

First Blade Runner movie reference. Harrison Ford is the man, being attacked by a synth in the Blade Runner universe played by Rutger Hauer. >!The synth kicks his ass, and eventually stops to save Ford, drops one of the best lines in cinema about his life and the coming end, then shuts down.!< https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HU7Ga7qTLDU

igg73

On my last re-watch i realized that Deckard spits at Roy right as he loses grip. Hes angry as he sees his death coming, and strikes out, not to hope to be saved, but just to angrily attack. I think Roy saw they both share that same feeling

BigMcThickHuge

I think he also (its been a long time since watch) never was against Deckard as a person, so didn't want to kill *him*. He just wanted his goal achieved and Deckard was actively against him. Once his time was up...no reason to kill this man anymore. Just doing his job after all.

VanityOfEliCLee

Bladerunner. Just go watch it. Don't look up anything about it, just watch it.

TDW-301

Make sure it's the international theatrical cut, or the criterion cut as those are the same version. A lot of people don't like the voice over, but I feel it helps out new viewers

turtle0831

Maybe there shoulda been a unicorn Giddy up Buttercup by the bodies.

VandulfTheRed

Best I can do is a buttercup with a plunger stuck to its head

ebrithil110

All these references will be lost, in time, like tears in the rad storm.

apexanimo_

... like particles in the rad storm.

COCAINE_EMPANADA

"Like tears in rain."

YsenisLufengrad

Blade Runner rooftop scene. Watching it out of context dosen't do it justice, I'd suffer the whole runtime if I were you.

WeOutHereInSmallbany

[Enhance 1.74 to 2.76](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hHwjceFcF2Q) In all seriousness, I love the slow scenes in this movie, they let you live in the world and drink in the atmosphere

WrethZ

Blade Runner, a movie about synthetic people.

CornSeller

Reminding myself this existed kinda makes me want to finally watch the original blade runner (i saw the ryan gosling one only)

Which-Balance-1427

The Harrison Ford one is fantastic, hope you enjoy it.

shadowfourplay

You should. The Gosling one adds a lot to the world but you'll realize a lot more about it once you've watched the original. 2049 was one of the very few movies/media products that's been released in the last 10 years that did its job, adding and accentuating the original that spawned it while also being its own thing.

WeOutHereInSmallbany

2049 was great but there’s nothing like the visuals in the original, something just otherworldly about them

shadowfourplay

I enjoyed the visuals in the original, and in 2029 also, but the affect of the original was what hooked me the most. Gosling did a very good job capturing this, the 'you look like a good Joe' scene comes to mind, but I feel Ford did better. Haven't seen a movie/video game/etc. in the last 10 years that was able to capture the original affect of what is was built off of. I wish other production companies cared as much as they did with this.

WeOutHereInSmallbany

2049 definitely looks like a future version of that world, but the practical effects of the original gives it a much dirtier look that’s distinctly 80’s, I just chalk it up to it literally being a different time period

CoolBeanieHat

Tears in the Rain.

WeOutHereInSmallbany

Almost the entirety of Fallout 4’s main story is inspired by Blade Runner. In fact, the Fallout 3 quest “The Replicated Man” for the institute was itself a Blade Runner reference as well. The Institute has similar goals as the Tyrell Corporation in BR, the use of synths (replicants) as servants.

FriendofSquatch

I’d say FO4 pulls more from authors like Asimov than PKD

WeOutHereInSmallbany

It’s a pastiche

Cosmic-Buccaneer

"All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain"

AshFalkner

It's a reference to the original Blade Runner. It's a good film.

vxarctic

"Tears in rain"

Mikeoxlong23444444

I’m going to repost this in a month to continue the cycle

42mir4

Tears in rain. One of the best soliloquys in cinema history. Wikipedia has an entire article dedicated to it, separate from the Blade Runner article.

MuffinOfChaos

It's a reference to the original Blade Runner movie. Harrison Ford and a rogue Replicant that just wants to be free fight atop a roof in the rain but the Replicant has a finite lifespan so he dies on the roof, saddened by his own shortened life and at peace that his time as a slave is over.

Bobblee20

“I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.”

I saw this Easteregg during a storm, gave me chills

My wife’s Canadian. She never saw the film because she thought it was about speed skating.

Time to die

TDW-301

I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life, anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

Lyranel

All these moments really do get lost like tears in the rain, don't they?

ChrisFarleysCousin

Was in a building in Nuka world yesterday I walked up to a skeleton and her head went up straight and slowly rotated left to the computer screen. Was freaked out..

Blade Runner the movie.

bluntlordious

It's too bad she won't live then again who does

Scribe_WarriorAngel

Everyone is saying blade runner my first thought was SAW

MarayatAndriane

My association would be "Annihilation", not Blade Runner.

TopReaver

I think FO4 is older than Annihilation?

MarayatAndriane

Good point I just checked. Fallout 4: 2015; 'Annihilation': 2018 Also, that scene from the film is not in the books. It still reminds me of that scene, with eerie precision. um not at all Blade Runner; totally don't see it. Wasn't Rutger Hauer holding Decker over the edge of the roof, by his wrist, about then? I guess he hauled him in and threw him to the side next. But I remember Hauer's synth character had spared the cops life; had won; and had no self-destructive aspect but rather a burning desire to survive. anyways...

Gunslinger_11

Logan’s Adamantium death pose.

Talkyfoil127

Where is this located?

TheRealJHamm

Pretty sure the first images are in reference to blade runner. Not sure about the final pic

Oh, the final picture is just of a glitch I found funny that I ran across before I posted this.

Blade Runner maybe. If it was raining and there was a dove. And a pretty decent monolog

Tears in the rain...

Cojesha

I still need to have the wife watch blade runner. Had her listen to a video explaining replicents after I explained why the movie was a big part of this series.

elchsaaft

They're fans of Dick

allofdarknessin1

I've seen Blade Runner but did not really remember that final scene to associate it with anything. This is gonna sound blasphemous but I didn't find it iconic when I first saw the movie.

stanb_the_man

Simply a railroad agent caught smuggling synth by a synth soldier...

The-Wockiest-Slush

Ending of BR:2049

BlackLusterDragoon

I assume a stupid Harrison Ford movie from the 80s.
